To test the drives and see if they are starting to fail I'd use Seagates SEATools diagnostic testing. For SATA drive I've found it to be the most reliable and gives the least false readings. Depending on the variables you use be prepared for the drives and computer to be in use for hours possibly, depending on the size of the drives.

Samsung Galaxy Camera...
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Damn, can you say "digital camera on Steroids"?I can't believe they packed all that into a point and shoot camera. Compare that to a professional Digital DSLR and you have a almost comperable camera, the only thing they didn't throw in was the ability to change out lenses. If they had given you the ability to change out lenses it would have been an unbelieveable deal. I honestly never thought I would see the day a camera like that was actually built. To quote yu manuleka, "WOW". -
Ok in that case I would definetly say that you have the correct driver installed, if your still concerned I would suggest running windows update just to be sure. As for the Video Card driver prompt, I would go to your card manufacturers website and just check your driver version against their current and update as necessary.

That depends on the interface type are they IDE, SATA, or SCSI? If it's an IDE drive I use a program called DFT (disk failure test) I can't remember where I got it, pm me. If its a SATA drive, DFT will kick out a possible false failure...I'd use an updated version of Western Digital disk test software. If its a SCSI drive, go to the manufacturers website and see if they offer test software, if not give me the information on the drive and I'll see if I can come up with software that will test it for you.

Windows Xp/7 Image Mod/deployment Tools
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Websites and Web Designing
In that case, as long as your computer will boot from USB, I think you should be good to go. I'd stick with the Acronis True Image program I suggested and get your image set up. After that, your system reinstalls should go a lot easier then they currently are. -
If Apple is in trouble I'd love know more, however the link you put up isn't working for me.

Windows Xp/7 Image Mod/deployment Tools
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Websites and Web Designing
You could also do a fresh install then use a program like Acronis True Image to create an image of the drive prior to installing any software. If you want an image with software installed then you can image after you install, though that image will be a heck of a lot larger. The last version of True Image I used allowed images to be burned to CD/DVD, and large ones I had stored on external drives. -
Reinstalling Windows shouldn't need to be reinstalled. If your worried about the driver being proper for the processor, I'd go into the device manager and uninstall the CPU driver and reboot, then run Windows update.I don't think Intel chips require specific drivers, I know some AMD chips do. However if you do try this please let me know how it goes and if you see a change in performance.

Micro Usb - Why Hasn't It Being Used On Small Devices?
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
While your correct about the possibility of the cross connection of the power connection in the micro-USB, from experiance I've found that cross connection of the power lines is slim. I've plugged my HTC EVO into my computer and wall outlet to USB converter while both were powered up for over two years now and have never actually shorted out. I might just be lucky but the only cross connection I've ever run into was the data lines and I had to replace the cable. -
How To Use Html. The easy way to use html.
Logan Deathbringer replied to zenia's topic in Programming
@manuleka: I have to agree that you example is much better. However the original others, for the most part, show just basic HTML and don't show the more indepth parts that could, will, lead to questions about doc types and what not. I know when I started learning HTML years ago I started with an example like yours and tore it appart trying to figure out what everything in it was. While I have to admit that was one of the most productive and learning intensive points of my HTML experiance I also have to admit that it give me one major headache. Some times its necessary to give a very basic example of a single section rather then try to explain a simple idea inside a complex example. -
Make Your First Website With Free Tools
Logan Deathbringer replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Another problem with using your personal home computer to host your website is that at that point you leave your computer open to security risks. Remember this is the same system you use to surf the web and possibly shop online. You can possibly have banking information on it and other personal information of a sensitive nature. If your wanting to run a personal webserver from your house then I would suggest finding a decent second hand computer from somewhere and run your webserver program from it. There are various Linux flavors that are simple to install and use (mint for one) that I'm sure you can find a webserver program for and be up and runnin in no time. -
Micro Usb - Why Hasn't It Being Used On Small Devices?
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
I agree that it would help make them a BIT thinnner, however the weight difference between a USB port and a micro USB port is minimal. The biggest difference would be in the visual asthetics of the device. They would allow for more USB ports however as you could put 2 micro-USB ports for every 1 standard USB port. -
Micro Usb - Why Hasn't It Being Used On Small Devices?
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
Surprisingly enough your right, they don't. From my experiance they only really happen when the cord/connector is seriously abused. Even for their small size they are quite resiliant, however even unintenional abuse can cause damage. -
Micro Usb - Why Hasn't It Being Used On Small Devices?
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
Actually its not all that weird at all. If you look at the "pins" on the micro-USB connector you will see that there is very little space between them. As such if one gets bent even slightly a cross connection is entirely possible and actually I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. When talking about external connecters and such the micro-USB is one of the more popular ones and its amazing, in my opinion, since its one of the easiest to damage. -
Iphone 5 Still Looks To Be Another Hit For Apple

One OS to rule them all, one OS to find them, One OS to rule them all and in the darkness bind them. When purchasing anything, especially electronics, research is everything. One must know the manufacturers history when it comes to product reliability and failure rate. -
Unfortunatly the Win8 phones will again be just like the Windows desktop phones since both the OS for Windows computers and phones will use the Metro interface. My problem with the Win8 design, is that it's designed for touch screens on phones and tablets, yet they are putting it out on desktop/laptops. I think it will work great on phones, how usable and annoying it will be I have yet to find out, but it looks like it will be a good OS for phones if Microsoft can make it stable and keep up with updates to it since it will be a major target for hackers since its a MS OS.

Replacing Captcha By A Game
Logan Deathbringer replied to yordan's topic in Security issues & Exploits
While it might be more secure, and while I absolutely HATE CAPTCHA, I think I would tire of the game and find it even more annoying then the annoyance already implemented. I definetly think that there has to be a better option out there then the current CAPTCHA due to the fact that at least half the time I can't tell what I'm supposed to type so I fail it and have to start all over again. -

There may not be a single device that is better then the rest, but having had to repair a lot of computer and hand held devices over the years for a former employer...I will tell you this, there are devices that should NOT be sold or used due to the fact that its just garbage. I think people would be surprised by what real techs think about some of the brands and their true reliability and repairability. -
While I have NEVER been impressed with Windows phones, not so much due to the hardware but the OS. I have to say I'm really intrigued by the new Metro interface and how it will play out on the phone market. I must say that after the travesty that was the last Windows phone series and OS, I'm seriously wondering how the market and end users will accept Microsofts addition to the already swamped phone market and their reception of yet another OS.

Micro Usb - Why Hasn't It Being Used On Small Devices?
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
Honestly I think it has more to do with speed and the reliability of that speed then anything else. With a plug that small it's very hard to keep from having signal bleed from one connector to the other. If/when they figure out how to over come that issue I think we will see the microUSB plug more, especially with the popularity of netbooks and tablets picking up. -
Micro Usb - Why Hasn't It Being Used On Small Devices?
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
I think the reason we haven't seen microUSB on laptops or computer is durability. The standard sized USB port and plug are more damage resistant than micro, also they are easier to hold and move around to different devices. Plus from a hardware replacement/repair stand point they are easier to replace, and diagnose as faulty. With a micro port they are harder to visually diagnose as faulty so the "easiest" way to find out if the problem with the port is actually the port on onboard controller is to swap out the microUSB port board and test, which is time consuming and as such a money drain.I can't say for certain that thats the reason that is why they haven't become standard or not, I'm not even sure that microUSB can handle full USB 3.0 (Super Speed USB) speeds, and if they can't that would be another reason why we haven't seen micro take over. -
Your right the iOS is designed for a single device with a set hardware profile, as such both the OS and hardware can be customized to get the most out of each other, where as the Android OS is designed to be put onto multiple hardware profiles. I've used Android and iOS devices and I have to say while both are well designed and user friendly, to some respect, I have to come down on the Android side. With Android you can pick a device that will fill your needs and possibly avoid "extra" features that you don't need and as such don't have to pay for, where as with the iPhone your stuck with what Apple puts into it.

Iphone 5 Still Looks To Be Another Hit For Apple
Logan Deathbringer replied to manuleka's topic in Websites and Web Designing
With all the new tech coming with the new phones its getting really hard to decide on exactly which phone you want. I have decided that there will never really be a true "iPhone Killer" seeing as how there are people out there that just love their Apple products. However with the features available on the new iPhone and on the Androids that are coming out its just amazing. I find it interesting that there are now phone specific features, like the new touch to transfer, feature that is coming out on the new Samsung Galaxy S III phone. I knew it would only be a matter of time before proprietary features would come out, and now with memory and processor power starting to rival that of tablets, and in some cases netbooks, I guess it's time for the phone companies to step up and really start showing what the OS's and available hardware and features can really do with some ingenuity imagination. -
The only poblemis that we will probably never see that phone anywhere near the USA or anywhere that has backed Apples claim of copy write/patent infringement. While it looks to be an awsome phone, it looks to much like the iPhone and after the courts decision...I seriously doubt that the company that makes that phone will venture outside of china with it.

Well concidering my interaction with most of the people I meet IRL I have at times decided that there is no intelligent life on this planet. However after a visit to these forums, I get reassured that there is. So going by that information and your statement of never believing any other intelligence until you see it...can we decide that there is a lack of intelligence on this planet?
