Ps3 And Xbox Coming Out Soon
Logan Deathbringer replied to darkool's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I posted that on another thread here on Xisto pertaining to the PS3 -
I voted other...SMF isn't listed...The reason I'm going with SMf is that from an Admins view it is simple to install, change to from any other type of board, easy to maintain, and has lots of mods that can be EASILY applied. The number of people that mod for this board system is amazing, and the number of "skins" is mind boggaling. Also IMO it is one of the least, if not the least, bloated forum on the market, paid for or not. When it comes to the mods available you have a lot of different options that can add some real cool options to your board. Combine the mods with the different skins and although you may run SMF you can customize it to a point that can make it almost unique to your site. From a users point of view, I have yet to have any complaints from any of my Sites members, other then the fact that I keep messing around with it and make it unusable from time to time. The fact that my forum becomes unusable isn't a problem with the Forum software by the way...its due to my playing around with it.From an install stand point its real easy too, and very straight forward. Also the Simple Machines site has a Community Forum that will has all the info you will ever need to correct any problem you may have, also there are a few people here on Xisto that know alot about SMF and can help you correct any problem you may have, or in my case create.

Ok I've had a small introduction to programming while in college, and have been thinking about getting back into it. After looking around I've noticed that ruby seems to be a good programing language and easy to use, though not to popular outside of Japan. My question is this, what do people think of Ruby as a first language for a someone just getting into the programming world?

Cool I get to do on this thread what M3ch4 did on another: Click here for the full artical and technical breakdown. Here is a quick over view: There are three critical performance aspects of a console: * Central Processing Unit (CPU) performance. * The Xbox 360 CPU architecture has three times the general purpose processing power of the Cell. * Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) performance * The Xbox 360 GPU design is more flexible and it has more processing power than the PS3 GPU. * Memory System Bandwidth * The memory system bandwidth in Xbox 360 exceeds the PS3's by five times. After the total breakdown, that can be found in the artical linked above, there can be no doubt that Sony has once again over stated the performace of yet another member of the playstation family.

Logan Deathbringer replied to prosorcerer's topic in Hardware Workshop
man you want to talk near home super computing...lol. if you do that I'll want to come visit and see it in action man that would be a real dream come true for me. Imagin using 3d studio max on a machine running 2 4800+'s with 3 gigs of ram per core and dual Radion 9800's...ohhh rendering heaven.... oh...forgot to mention on my last post. AMD rules Intel right now....time for intel to make a move or lose the market.... Notice from qwijibow: merged your 2 posts -
I Can't Get Myself Out Of Suspension HELP
Logan Deathbringer replied to rapco's topic in Web Hosting Support
Rapco just a suggestion but like it says on the forum main page try to keep yourself up above 10 posting credits. This will definetly keep you outta the danger zone for going into suspention if you miss a day or 3 of posting and its not really that hard to get there and stay there. Personally I haven't gott'n below 15 credits since I got up to the standard hosting package, and I only post when I need help or find a thread that interests me. -
Ok, I saw another thread about this here on the forum so I guess I'll have to post here too. Alright first things first, WoW has been out longer then GW and its been put out by a Known Company and is being run on a well known, tried and true gaming network. While NCSoft has been around for a while, Arena.net hasn't, this is their first title, and I must say, after playing SC/BW, Diablo, D2, D2:LoD, WarCraft 2 BNet, WC3, WC3:FT; and dealing with all the hacks and outages I am pleasently surprised with Arena.net. Since they went LIVE with GW I haven't gott'n a "realm down" or can't connect.Ok now for actually comparing GW and WoW...thats like comparing Veil and rumproast, with GW being the Veil. Ok they both come from the same beast, i.e. MMO, but GW isn't a RPG in the same reguard as WoW. GW is more of a squad based RPG as stated by someone earlier. As for the lack of items, man think about it, would you release a game the size of WoW with no monthly fee and roll it out with massive amounts of stuff already for the picking, or would you release a smaller game that was still fun to play and then slowly release more areas and items?Well NCSoft/Arena.net decided to release a smaller game that wasn't a real MMORPG but more of a massivily multiplayer cooperative role playing game, see where it went, saw it was doing excelently, fixed some bugs, released new areas to explore, then new quests, next they are gonna release 2 new area's to explore with new quests and rumored new items and gear, and other rumored stuff that are only rumors so I won't post em here since they aren't fact.WoW and GW are 2 similar games, but like apples and oranges they may be from a similar family but are totally different.Oh and the Graphics of GW kick WoW all over the map. Also the community of GW rocks that of WoW. Many guilds, like mine, Like to help out new players and other guilds when they need it. I've been around GW since it went live and I plan on being there till its last days. After all the hacks and problems I had on B.net I'm through with Blizzard and B.net I couldn't get good customer support when I needed it but for a real simple problem with another player and a possible hack Arena.net was right there and answered me in less the 24 hours...it took almost a month for b.net to answer me.

L1ek Omg Sp4m Teh 1337 WTF? OMFG n00b

Happy birthday Demonic Enforcer! -
The game is slowly getting more features added to it and with the next big rollout that is supposed to happen sometime this summer, then the first expansion pack that is rumored to be released early to mid next year there are supposed to be more ways to individualize your character. Unlike other games I've played or heard of how many give out addons like the D2:LoD expansion for free. Thats whats happening this summer, NCSoft and Arena.net are rolling out 2 new areas to play with new quests, and they have already added new area's since the games launch. This will be the second major expansion of the game since its launch, they have already added 2 new area's to explore and many new quests.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Was installing and modding SMF, and learning a bit about PHP and SSI so my time was being pretty well eat'n up. I was able to figure out how to work with Dreamweaver with the site, just came to the conclusion that if I didn't want to trash everything I've done up till now was that I'm going to have to do alot of coding by hand and figuring out how FP creats codes and forms so that I can keep my existing site updated till I can really get a new one rolled out.

Vujsa, Trekkie...as always thx for the help...changed up the way I SSI'd the shout to my index page.I used an IFRAME to call a HTML file that calls for the Shout SSI, a bit more complicated but I can further Customize the way the SSI_Shout is now shown on the index by doing it this way and also I can now increase or decrease the size of the shout box on my index to accomadate more or less content on the index.Just thought I'd drop an update.

Ie 7: A First Look Heres a rundown
Logan Deathbringer replied to optykal's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I agree with jipman...packet sniff it. I also think that they might try to the "anonymous stats" thing with the new IE. -
Ok here is how I got it to work: first on line one I inserted this: <?php require("/home/username/public_html/guild_forum/SSI.php"); ?> I inserted this where I wanted the shoutbox to be shown on my index page <?php ssi_shout(); ?> Then I changed the file extention to .php and it works. Its exactly how you told me to do it but I changed the _news to _shout and it works...yes! I'm as giddy as a kid at cristmas with a new toy...whoohoo this is cool and all the help ya'll are giving me is sweet...thx again!

Thanks trekkie101 will do that as soon as I can access my site again. I thought that would do it but after my last attempt to do something with SMF without consulting someone first I crashed it...lol

Forbidden Access To My Website
Logan Deathbringer replied to Neutrality's topic in Web Hosting Support
I don't know if your having the same problem that I am currently having but I haven't been able to access my site or the cpanel for the last 48 hours. Is Xisto down or is this just a problem that I am having? -
Sorry about the confusion created by my being less then clear. I want to take a site that I made with Frontpage, using FP extenstion for its prebuilt forms, and switch to Dreamweaver. I guess the question I should have asked is this. Will Dreamweaver play nice with a site that is running FrontPage Extensions or will it have problems with the site if they are active?

First time on this topic, so if I posted something someone already said, sorry about that. About the Drake's Equation, there's a calculator on this page. You can actually try it out for yourself. As for those of you who is sceptical about it, the main reason that we haven't come in contact with any aliens yet is probably because with our current limited technology and the size of the galaxy, it'll be close to impossible to come in contact with any life (intelligent or non-intelligent) within a couple of centuries. As for the bible preachers who says aliens don't exist because the bible says so, you have got to think it through again. No offense to all the Christians out there, but in a very general point of view, the bible is nothing but a book, published over and over again across the centuries and decades, and written by a group of individuals that neither you or me knew personally.

Ok heres my problem, I would like to switch my site from being a Frontpage site to a more flexable Dreamweaver site. I'm ready to give up my training wheels and move on to the real deal but my problem is that I don't know how to go about it without trashing all the work I've put into my site.I'm willing to trash it and start from the ground up, though I'll do it grudingly, but if anyone knows how I can do it with the least amount of loss of functionality and rework I'd be greatly appreciate it.

Hosting Packages Suggesting more hosting packages.
Logan Deathbringer replied to infamousflame's topic in Web Hosting Support
I know I still have alot more to learn and I will be sticking around for a long time to come. I doubt I'll be using up the BW I'm aloted any time soon but I wish I had a bit more space but please don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. When I truely outgrow the free hosting here I'll definetly be sticking with this community as I branch out to comercial hosting, at which point I'll be going to Xisto - Web Hosting, since its "in the family" so to speak.I'm proud to say, I'm gonna be loyal. I'm learning alot here, the community is great, and I'm gonna stay where I feel at home.Xisto has my loyalty. -
Ie 7 Is Coming
Logan Deathbringer replied to DerekBaldersonator's topic in Websites and Web Designing
after reading the articals on IE7 I don't understand how to check the UA, so I'll just have to wait, or do the unthinkable and drag myself outta my chair, stop reading about how to code PHP (teaching myself that) close out my GW game, shut down TS and get some sleep then tackle the articals again...lolOh I started using Firefox the other day, and WOW the differance is truly amazing...its a definet boost over IE6 and worth the switch. -
Ps3 spring 2006... to bad :(
Logan Deathbringer replied to darkool's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think your right about PS3 not leaning towards the multithreading tech since they might not think that the programmers are ready for that type of programming for games. However, 360 is fully ready for that movement, and while the first series of games released for it might only be designed around single thread design the 360 is ready for the next step. The PS2 didn't release with a hard drive, it was an option, and the XBox did, this was one of the reasons I went for the XBox over the PS2 when I could afford to get it. The reason for this decision, I didn't have to worry about lots of mem cards with limited memory and having to keep lables on them for reference and keeping the labels updated. As for processing power and GFX power I think the 360 leads the way there. The only place that I personally think the PS3 puts the boot to the 360 is that the PS3 supports Blu-Ray, though at this point in time it is the only product that I know of that is being released with support for it. Seeing as how it is such a new technology one must ask themselves, do they want to by a gaming console with such an untested technology at its center.
