  1. Actually I like how the text contrasts a bit to the background, it's got a smooth transition color-wise but the hard lines make it stand out. Usually people seem to blend the text into sigs and banners so much you can barely read them so I like that one
  2. Yea I thought they had too, and I mean... it's not like anyone still uses ME anyways haha
  3. Hahahaha, ah man translation software is so funny sometimes. I remember back in high school me and a buddy wanted to convince the teacher we were completely inept so instead of doing a French paper properly we wrote one quicklly in english, translated it from english->german->italian->spanish->french and passed that in haha. Upon getting a native french speaker to translate the final outcome for us, what made any sense whatsoever had pretty much somehow turned out like this, oddly sexual haha. Too bad we passed it in before finding someone to help us translate it for real... that was an awkward convo trying to convince the teach to mark our real version of the report instead and not kick us out of the class for improper conduct :|

    New!

Welcome to the boards Hope you enjoy your stay here, it really is an awesome place. Make sure to look over the rules and whatnot so there aren't any problems in the future I look forward to seeing you around the boards
  5. I asked a few of my friends that had them, and they all had variants of the zen micros (one had another creative one... he wasn't sure the name since he didn't have it on him, probably a zen as well)
  6. Regardless of where it occurred... what would the governments part be in it? I think I'm missing what you meant by welfare being helpful in this situation...
  7. I'd say wait a month max... I don't see Dell directly influencing Alienware that much really. They're offering financing on the alienware machines but I think they want to leave alienware alone to do its thing, promote it more, and cash in. There is the possibility of lowering the prices but there logic behind it was to draw in the hardcore gamers and if they try to turn alienware into budget high end gaming rigs it'll just feel like their XPS line in a new case :|So yea, I'd say give it another few weeks to a month and if nothing happens, buy away.
  8. Oh really? I've never heard any complaints from the people I know who use tuners in their mp3 players. Then again, that doesn't rule out the possibility for fault, it just could mean my friends are all lucky hehe. Streamus, happen to know any sites that discuss if that is a documented problem with any mp3 players? Just curious about it now
  9. Nah, I don't know for sure which ones have them, but there are a good number that have built in fm tuners. I wanna say the zen micro's would fit all your criteria but I'm not sure... I'm sure someone will show up soon to list off the best ones
  10. This is also a good example of how school systems are more politics now then about educating the children. I mean they buckled virtually immediately once the bad press started flowing. They picked the perfect reduction so they could seem both newly sympathetic AND true to their word in regards to keeping the rule intact.
  11. Man... I know in my city there are a handful of crosswalks that I have trouble getting accross in time unless I run a few steps... but its a smaller city so even at busy times it's never a big deal if someone is a few steps from the sidewalk when they are supposed to be off the roadway. I mean yea, if someone gets there RIGHT at the end and tries to sneak accross and holds up traffic, thats more understandable but if they simply CAN'T do it, ticketing someone is pathetic.
  12. When I was in high school the only cell rules were not in class, but that was because we were in a tiny town and cell's weren't popular yet so not many people had them. Now apparently both school in my hometown have those types of rules, but under any situation like that I know they wouldn't react with more then a detention to show they were following disciplinary rules. As far as the profanity goes, I can't blame him. If I was in a similar situation it wouldn't matter who was trying to kill the phone call but I would react in whatever way was necessary to get that person to leave me be until the call was over. Schools complain when parents don't play an active role in their kids' lives and then punish a kid for accepting ac all from his mom whom he hasn't seen in months... oooh school boards
  13. Hmmm, I'll have to check this out when I get home, no sound here. Has my interest peaked tho
  14. I like gamespot and ign about equally. I prefer IGN a bit simpply because the layout of gamespot just doesn't do it for me personally. Both have decent coverage and some cool stuff if you spring for the paid service (speaking of, anyone wanna get me passes to either? anyone? no? ok) but ign's seems to be a little more thought out excluding the gamespot downloads being better.Personally I try to keep up on my news through the less mainstream sites too, they get the same news usually but a less sensationalized version/less biased version.
  15. semi-off topic : Meh, they originally stated that 2005 would be the cutoff point for low-grade tv signals... obviously thius never happened. They'll keep pushing it back until the market won't take a huge hit because of it and people won't react too badly to itback on topic : At least you are ready for such a change with a higher end lcd. What I really want is to get a nice HDTV for my living room and hook my compy up to that, mmmm
  16. I read another site with a similar 8-ball disection that stated the liquid inside apparently permanently stains ANYTHING it comes in contact with. Apparently they spilled some and ruined a desk haha :| But yea, I'll stick to my ouija board for spiritual guidance haha
  17. I've never tlaked to someone who hasn't liked OSX haha. Personally I haven't used it, but it is no longer only for graphics designers. Frankly when I finally get around to buying a laptop, there is a good chance it'll be a mac. Luckily now they have the intel processors so eventually I'll be able to have one tri-booting windows/macosx/linux haha, but regardless OSX has windows beat in most arenas now.The only concern IS the gaming for you, and I can't really comment on that as I dont know.
  18. I'm still purring along with my 17inch crt I'm hoping to move onto a 19 inch lcd reasonably soon though... my roomate got one a couple months ago so I'm kinda having some hardcore monitor envy haha. I walk by his room and the glow is so nice... But yea, congrats on the pimped monitor. Not sure exactly when I'll be getting one...Oh, how is the latency on it? Like do you ever notice any ghosting or unintentional blurring? I've ehard thats not a problem really anymore but some earlier lcd monitors had kinda bad rates, but I think those were like 8-16ms... I would assume 4 is top of the line now (I haven't been keeping up on my lcd facts)
  19. Trillian gets the job done, but personally I can't stand the program. I haven't used it in a year or more so it could be better now, but it was just bulky and annoying back then. Plus I prefer to only use one or two accounts... having multiple programs open isn't the issue with me its simply having all the different accounts active, doesn't make sense having 3+ chat account all so you can do the exact same thing... chat.
  20. Yea I know the only places I've seen dual layer dvd's around here sell them for about 12 times the price or more. You can get blank dvd's for about a quarter a pop whereas the dvd9's are about 3 bucks a pop or more. I'm sure there are places that sell them for more/less, but regardless if you are worried about $/GB the single layered disks are better... otherwise look around for the dual layers.
  21. I'd agree with using msconfig personally. I hate the idea of getting extra software to bloat my system when there is a built in utility with the needed functionality. Although it's annoying that the stupid window pops up after rebooting everytime you use msconfig
  22. If you know anyone that does construction for larger companies you can often get them to keep their eye our for "internet cable" that they rip out of the walls during reno's in large masses. Often companies have to run cat5 accross long distances to connect to switches so they end up with bundles of cable getting thrown out that can just be re-cut to the required size and voila. Sure this doesn't help everyone and often is against some rule or another, but as long as your buddy is willing you can probably get a hundred feet for like 5 bucks
  23. O...M...F...G....if that is all legit then I lost the little shred of faith I had left in humanity I mean it's hilarious but not only were their people around stupid enough to try adn sue for this crap, but there were juries who THOUGHT THEY HAD A VALID REASON FOR SUEING~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean come ON now. I would have burst out laughing if I was on the jury and someone said they were sueing a store because they tripped over their own kid Speaking of which, I tripped and fell, breaking my leg, while standing up after using Xisto... I believe I'll be sueing for medical expensives, mental anguish, the price of a new car, and some spending money... I mean OBVIOUSLY it was the distraction of the webpage that made me fall... OOOOOH YEA IMA BE RICH!I've said it before and I'll say it again...Stupid people piss me off.
  24. It depends where you are. Apparently in the USA almost everyone uses AIM as their primary chat program, but then in Canada/England (I think) msn is the most popular by far. Other countries often have their preferred as well. Which really makes sense if you think about it, we use what our friends use or else we wouldn't care to chat all that much. I know thats why I switched over to msn from ICQ all those years ago :lol:I agree on gtalk though, I really like it but barely anyone I know actually uses it. I really like the software but I rarely think to even boot it up again if I shut it off since I have such a tiny list of people on there. I haaaaate msn, and dislike yahoo and aim haha, but the only ones I actually know people that use alot are msn and yahoo. Eventually gtalk will hopefully become viable for me to use :S Oh and I love the whole chat log -> gmail thing too. I always catch myself thinking "crap what was the addy so-in-so gave me last night?" when I'm out and about, but now I could check form anywhere..............................if anyone talked to me on gtalk..................................haha.
  25. Well there is Americas Army and Enemy territory that are both high quality and FREEEEEEEEE if you want some online only shooters. For a good single player FPS it would depend on your def of 'cheap'. You can get the non-special edition version of F.E.A.R. for $30 CDN or less already, and that game is amazing. You can pick up a used copy of Farcry for pretty cheap too at EBWorld... hmm, Ghost Recon is indeed a good suggestion for a tactical shooter and you could probably get it in a nice bundle for cheap now since its a few years old. There is really a ton of good FPS' and if you go back a year or more in game releases they'll all be cheaply available if you look around a bit. Maybe if you give a more specific sub-genre of game you are interested in we can be more helpful.
