  1. Pavarr, alot oy those types of mp3 players can be partitioned like a normal HD, so if you really got into this you could make a linux compatible filesystem partition of, say, 700mb (or less if you go with damn small linux or whatnot) and then leave the rest of the space open for tunes. This way you can have linux in your pocket AND a fully functional mp3 player
  2. I can't imagine arranged marriages working out in most situations. If anyone involved saw a marriage as anything more then a business deal then it's a really small chance that you would actually end up with someone you could spend your life with. Personally I know I have a severely small number of females I am compatible with over long periods of time, and its a part of my personality that causes the problem since I simply find reasons to stop wanting to be with them. I would never be able to handle arranged marriages... the statistical probability of me ending up with a proper mate would be slim to none.I'm surprised that its not much higher success rate though for the people who voluntarily do it. It seems like if you got to that point where you thought it was a good idea you'd be the prime candidate and it would work out. Guess that goes to show how bad of an idea it really is :|
  3. Could be big, could be small... I don't know what I expect from it. I mean the more services they make the more they can integrate everything into one massive uber service which is kind of cool, but then again will they be able to compete with itunes? I mean, its already established and has no noticeable flaws to exploit. Plus itunes has the loyal iPodians to back it, so who knows. I think if anyone has a shot other then apple at succeeding, its google. I also think it WILL be successful, but I'm just not sure HOW successful it'll end up being.
  4. Could be interesting, I don't personally use those services but I'm sure for people who do it'll be nice having a google attempt at it. Google hasn't really dropped the ball yet when releasing new services as far as quality goes so... if they want to keep releasing them, fine by me
  5. Yea I solved it back in the day as well, we did lots of those logic type problems then. It's just about not getting lost in the information they give you and eventually you'll come to the answer. Unless you've sat down and tried it or seen a good method of doing this type of problem, however, it would often just turn into a big mess of facts that are meaningless.
  6. Personally I believe in the heaven/hell concept since I've grown up under a Christian religion. That having been said I'll openly admit I am scared of death, I'm not really sure why. It could be I'm worried that my faith is misplaced or that humans improperly interpretted what happens after our death. Maybe I'm simply scared of spending so much time away from everyone I've grown to love on this planet. Maybe I simply have this in THIS life I want to experience before moving onto the next. Regardless, I'll admit it scares me and I'm glad it does. As mentioned by someone else life is defined by the fact that it WILL end. The fear of death makes life more exciting and more enjoyable.I mean, how many of you have been going a "little" too fast in a car, almost lost control, and then felt exhilerated after safely calming the vehicle down? If death wasn't a factor, you simply wouldn't be able to experience such "thrills".Death defins life as much as life defines death.
  7. organicbmx, while I would agree there is progress and that it is a GREAT thing that arranged marriages are no longer commonplace (although I think they still exist in some countries/cultures) I don't agree that less marriages are 'fake'. There is a reason the divorce rate is 50% or greater, too many people see marriage as the logical next step once they date someone for awhile, or after a girl gets pregnant. Not everyone does this, but alot of people marry someone way too early and I would think that is just as fake as an arranged marriage.I'll agree its getting better, simply because people are getting more and more control over marriage. Marriage is a personal choice, that's all it should be, government should do no more then keep a record of married couples
  8. Geez don't teach people this stuff, too many people overuse it as it is If even more people randomly start 1337ing out on me I might go insane and break something haha
  9. If we started letting this happen, people could quickly realize they could SAY its for someone else, put up a site LOOKING like its for a "sister" or "friend" and then after a month change it to just be a second site for themselves. This would require constant checking of sites that are doubled up by the same person and simply not be an efficient use of resources. If I thought up a way to exploit that situation in less then 30 seconds, someone who really wanted a second account could probably think up even more ways.
  10. Glad to hear about your business dealings going well and glad that you're going to stick around Wewt! haha
  11. So, based on your argument that marriage should only be about children, does that mean that a sterile man or woman is never allowed to get married? Many know BEFORE getting married that children are simply not an option, yet they do so anyways. Then your theory would noy only ban homosexual marriages but also marriage to anyone sterile.Futhur, would that mean you are aopposed to all use of birth control? Since even if you have a child before starting to use it, you have once more begun picking and choosing what you want of marriage, and your spouse is a sexual entity without reprecussion.I understand your view I just feel it's flawed. I agree with the idea that there is nothing from with homosexuality and I really neither support it or oppose it... it simply exists. It isn't part of my lifestyle and I don't know many people that are homosexuals but that doesn't mean I care one way or the other. Live and let live. But if we can get married for the wrong reasons then nyes, I think they should be bale to as well. Many think this is horrible for me to say since it goes against my religion (Catholicism) but it's one area I don't see eye to eye with my church on. Frankly it should be an individuals choice... whether or not the church sees it as wrong shouldn't mean it shouldn't be a choice. That's not "choosing" to do the right thing, thats abolishing the ability to do wrongly.I always have weird feelings on these types of topics because I can't see why so many people care so strongly one way or the other. If two gay guys want to get married it won't affect me... In relation to the purpose of the institution of marriage, call me old fashioned or a romantic but I feel it is simply a lawful, official way of showing love for another. Children often are a result of this but I do not think they are the primary concern of marriage. Children are a biological directive not necessarily one of marriage. If you agree or disagree or don't know what I mean by anything, I'm more then willing to continue this topic in a rational manner. I love discussing topics that are less commonly touched upon in day to day conversation as long as everyone handles it in a mature manner.
  12. Hahaha omg man when I first read about that a week or two or whenever ago I was so proud I mean, hacking into the US's most "secure" system to check for alien info? THAT IS FREAKING GOLD haha! I can't imagine how stupid they felt after that hahaha, man everytimne I think about it I burst out laughing, the girls here at work are looking at me like I'm insane hahaha. Oooooh man I just keep picturing them "That bastard, what was he thinking? He could never get our nuclear codes by hacking us!"subordinate- "uhh...sir...he only accessed files...uh...pertaining to aliens...sir..."sir - "....oh....well....PATRIOT ACT OMG GUANTANAMO BAY HIS BUTT!!!"
  13. Last time I tried to grab Moonwitch tightly she started saying things about "restraining orders" and "sexual assault" and...well you get the picture :DBut yea those icons have been dead for awhile now eh? I remember noticing just after the switch but I cant imagine the board looking much better or worse based on such a small thing... I mean if someone throws together icons for it great, if not does it really matter all that much?
  14. I'm currently enjoying a logitech mx510. Not their top mouse anymore but it's pretty good, handles all my needs well. It's got the requisite two main buttons, scroll wheel, and button under scroll wheel. It's also got two side buttons, two buttons that default to scrolling without having to actually use to wheel, and one of those alt-tab buttons. I think my alt-tab button is dead due to a cola accident but everything else works great and gives me more then enough buttons when I feel like customizing up an FPS. It's a pretty cheap mouse now so it's worth a look if you're goetting a new one.
  15. I'd agree that it sounds like over heating, I've seen similar happen a few times when I put a bigger GPU in my comp and had poor cooling even BEFORE beefing up the heat amounts made by the GPU (not to say that GPU is whats being affected by the heat, just that it sounds like an over heating issue overall). If just the GPU was freaking out the comp probably wouldn't freeze so much as have constant graphical vomitings.I'd say grab one of those programs like motherboard monitor and see what temps your comp is running at, then google to see what the normal temps are for that model and see if anyone else had the same problem. If thats a stock notebook I'd bet other people experienced whatever is happening to you.
  16. Well first you install ANY WINDOWS OTHER THEN ME..... then you install ubuntu...Ubuntu has a decent partitioner built in, but since it'll be a clean install I'd say just install ME and then see if the ubuntu installer can handle shrinking the partition so you have space for ubuntu, worst case scenario you'd need to reinstall windows again. But yea, dual booting is a breeze once you get the partitions set up, especially with a distro like Ubuntu that handles everything for you basically.
  17. I don't know for sure one way or the other but it'd be worth checking into, I know it had brace checking in other coding like c and whatnot so I assume it's just gneeralized and not file type specific, and would therefor work if thats your main concern. I don't really know if it has any other debug stuff built in tho...
  18. The law doesn't want to catch virus makers or else there would be less viruses and the anti-virus security market would crash before its time... er... um... I mean they just can't find them...But yea I'm always kind of glad when someone gets caught pulling this stuff. It's just asking for trouble when you start doing things of this nature. Serves em right.
  19. I've had that for quite awhile on my home comp since I always have a crapload of windows open, it doesn't seem to hit the system performance-wise (unless its small enough that it doesn't noticeable register on my system). It's nothing amazing but its good when you have a handful of IM windows, for example, and you want to quickly cycle thru them you can just check the buddy pics in the small preview rather then having to scan for their name each time. Obviously there is more uses but thats just a quick example. If you hate having anything non-essential don't get it, but I enjoy having it. Doesn't really make anything new possible, just makes a normal task more efficient.
  20. I don't think he's comming back... but we should still ban his account...you know... outta spite... *is still in a havoc causing mood*
  21. OOOOOH DENIED! M^E LINES EM UP!!!.....AND KNOCKS EM DOWN!sorry, couldn't resist. But yea, if you want a place where you literally get it for free (meaning you don't even have to post) I guess it's good. Can't say I'd ever ditch this place for it tho :PLove the names of their packages tho haha 100mb POWER BALANCE!!! 150mb SPACE PLUS!! 4GB MEGA TRAFFIC ZOMGZ!Nah it looks decent, just seems the same as so many others... which usually leads to a few days of niceness followed by headaches.
  22. I would agree Grafitti. I mean, I've used winamp to view videos on occasion but it's rare. The decomp or soemthing is often messed up resulting in blury, washed out, pixely video. I agree with the idea to leave it for audio, and then WMP can stick to video (although I dont use it for that either haha)
  23. If you mean counter-strike original, which is the price quoted by hellfire, then your system would be acceptable. I used to play it on a 5000mhz celeron with a 32mb tnt2 ultra and like 128 megs of ram and it ran fine. Your 2 gigs of ram will let you run it no problems. As far as net speed, I played on dialup back in the day but at about CS 1.4ish dialup started being near impossible to use. I would reccomend at least a "dsl lite" type of connection, but if possible just any normal dsl or cable is more then enough. Now, if by CS you are thinking the newer CS- SOurce that came out with Half Life 2. It costs more and takes a system with more horses. I would assume your comp can't handle CS-Source but I could be wrong
  24. Actually ganeshn I hate it because it's a bloated piece of crap comparativly to many other media players :PI upgraded to the most recent winamp and it's nice, no big feature changes as far as what I actually use, but apparently it can handle some new types of files and whatnot. Doesn't affect me much but nice to keep it up to date.Reasons I prefer winamp to WMP - WMP is bloaty, takes up too many resources and screen realestate, I love the tiny little winamp bar at the top of my screen, all the extra song info is useless since I want a media player to listen to my songs, not watch them... WMP makes me have more windows updates I need to get I have only looked at a handful of WMP skins but disliked them all...etc etc etc The fact that its a M$ product has no effect on my decision, but its not surprising :PWinamp does everything I want expect sync with my mp3 player (although apparently it added synching abilities with the last update so I need to check into it), otherwise I would never have WMP even see my mp3 directory. To be more on topic, if you have winamp 3.x whatever or earlier, update to 5.x its worth it. IF you have an earlier version of 5.x, it won't hurt but its not an update that will blow your mind or anything.
  25. I've sunk about 30 hours into it on my currect character, had about 5-10 on my first char before I realized I wanted to start over, so I've gotten at least 30-40 hours out of it. I rarely actually get that much gameplay out of a game and I have barely scracthed the surface of oblivion. I simply dont have the time to play it as much as I'd want to, but I know it'll always be there waiting for more exploring and whatnot. It's an amazingly deep experience and will make you wonder why so many other games nowadays are so much money for 10 hours of gameplay.I've played it on both 360 and pc and both versions are great. If you have an insane system the pc version looks better, but the 360 version is pretty schweet looking and runs decently.I look forward to having enough free time that I can return to close more gates of obvliion, mwhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa
