that is true, Linux does lack those. Another problem is that it also lacks hardware drivers (scanner, Chinese writing pad and etc.). Also, there's current problems for game developers to use the latest sound system, ALSA instead of the old and crappy OSS driver. This really introduce problems for new Linux users and some battle-harden ones too.xboxrulz

I can't have solid prove (since I can't get the FPS showing on Windows), but when I ran C&C Renegade, C&C Tiberian Sun and Quake 4, it was considerably faster, as if you can feel the speed difference too.My only explanation to this phenomenon is that the X Server's framebuffer is bigger, therefore it's faster to process all the graphic data.Yet when m^e said about Linux wasn't designed for gaming, true, but remember, Linux was designed as a powerhorse to calculate math and other operations fast! Hey all, I own a Samung NV 5000 laptop and the battery could now only last for 30-45 minutes :s. I read from here: Apple Notebook Batteries that it would be best to discharge your battery once a month. Although I don't own a laptop notebook, it should be similar to all Lithium-ion batteries, right? So my question is: how do you discharge a battery? xboxrulz

nightfox, FC5 is really bad with laptop integration. My battery dies right after it boots up. It uses too much energy!Anyways, Windows is like a baby. The interface looks cute, but it constantly asks to sleep; then wakes up. When it's too tired, it crashes. It's prone to illnesses (viruses) because it's still very young. It doesn't understand English either. You constantly have to guess what's wrong. (Windows doesn't keep a friggin' log). It constantly needs your maintenance. I always recommend SuSE Linux because of it's easiness, out-of-the-box usability, great optimization for everyone, etc.There is GUI if you want, just select it during the installation process, it's default anyways.SuSE Linux doesn't cost anything, but you can't ask Novell for technical support unless you're willing to shell out money. since you're running an old Linux distribution, there are only 2 ways to fix it:1) Check if the manufacturer has drivers to download.2) If not, you need to use Fedora Core or RHEL.Hope this helps!xboxrulz
