    7zip Or Rar?

thanks for the info, RAR seems to work for me fine... when you say RAR isn't free... how come it's available freely on Linux?

  3. that's the one... previewing not only helps correcting typos but also gives the poster another run on reading his/her post before posting... re-editing posts makes previewing less popular
  4. i agree... slower than the more Win popular Chrome, Firefox and Opera but i like it's elegant look and feel... safari's speed dial page is probably the coolest in comparison to chrome and opera
  5. I'm surprised he wasn't really into to charity work as much as Bill Gates, i guess he has his reasons. Some argue his charity came through other people he influenced their lives but pffft that's still not from him though. I quite agree with you here starscream. Someone argued otherwise: http://www.forbes.com/forbes/welcome/?toURL=http://www.forbes.com/sites/larahoffmans/2-of-steve-jobs/&refURL=&referrer=

  10. i notice that when i click the firefox or chrome icon on quick launch menu i get a new window of firefox or chrome opening up, i want to set this quick launch so that when i click it it opens a new tab if there's an active instance of the software currently operating
  11. laptop cooling isn't a simple fix, probably this would work on PC... with laptops replacing cooling is quite some job and requires skills, knowledge and accuracy anyways back to topic - i've never had experience as this - locked laptop due to overheating, but it might pay to give the inside a good vacuuming or air blast... dust can easily accumulate inside the device and reduce the efficiency of air flow which results in over-heating. Where does the device is usually placed while operating? Ensuring enough space underneath the device or the sides where the air vents are usually located will help with the air flow and keeping the inside of the laptop cooler

    7zip Or Rar?

i'm going to do some archive packing (and unpacking)... and i have to decide between these two... reading on both these tools are comparable, but i notice that RAR is proprietary where as 7zip is OSS, so i'm curious what you guys think i should chooseand also what your experiences are with these two tools...
