Thanks for the tutorial. I hate doing script updates because some scripts have hundreds of files and it takes forever to upload by FTP and sometimes disconnects in the middle of the upload. This is going to save me tons of time and make the uploading processes a lot easier. I can't believe I didn't know about this before.

Ups Vs Fedex A vent concerning postal shipping.
Arigato replied to Cerebral Stasis's topic in The Vent
I have had bad experiences with both FedEx and UPS, more so with FedEx. I have been unexpectedly charged large fees a few times for small things and both of them have been late with a few packages. Right now I use UPS more often than I use FedEx just because I have had less problems with UPS. I am soon going to start using DHL, perhaps I won't have as many problems with them. -
Panda Titanium Anti-virus what do you think about....
Arigato replied to franklinweb's topic in Security issues & Exploits
I've been using Norton AntiVirus on my computers for quite a while now. My computers are currently running on Norton Antivirus 2005. In my opinion it has a very easy to use interface. I have used Mcafee, AVG and Norton and out of those three I think that Norton is the easiest to use. If you are looking for a free solution then AVG Anti Virus is the way to go. I don't have much experience on the effectiveness of the software to detect and delete viruses because I rarely have to clean my computer from viruses. I'm pretty good at avoiding them and when I do get one it is usally a minor virus that has no effect on the computer. -
I tried that game out for a month but there were a few things that I didn't like about it so I stopped. First of all I don't like the login system where you are assigned a number instead of being allowed to choose a username, once you stop playing for a week you forget your number. I also dislike the fact of how the servers keep getting filled and you have to wait a while before you can log in. There is just too much difference between free and paid accounts and puts paid accounts at way too much advantage. Also the game has been around for a long time and I noticed that on some servers high level players just stay in the towns so that they can kill the noobs that just got out of the training island, there should be at least some kind of protection based on level difference. The graphics aren't even very good.

I remember the old days of the blue screen of death years ago when my computer was running on windows ME. It ruined countless hours of work. I would see it every other day while working on the computer or sometimes when the computer was in idle. I no longer have that problem and I haven't encountered it ever since I installed Windows XP.

Modifying The Robosapien Crazy things people do with their robots
Arigato replied to jidun's topic in Science and Technology
When robosapiens first came out I didn't think it was worth it's price because it didn't do very much. Much hasn't changed but maybe some of these mods will change my mind. I enjoy building and modifying electronics. -
Google just launched a new service which can be found here: https://www.google.com/analytics/ It's a great new tool especially for people who run websites like most of us here at Xisto. It provides a detailed report about our site traffic. It's based upon urchin that google acquired a while ago, which I think is the best web traffic analyzer out there until now. The best thing about this is that it is free.

Scolling Led Belt Buckle Ok, Ok...Its not reeaallly technology
Arigato replied to e-buttler's topic in Science and Technology
One of the many strange things to be found on thinkgeek.com...Imagine walking down the street with five people staring at your groin area trying to figure out what message is on your belt. -
Looks like a minature version of Honda's ASIMO or robosapien. Sony already has a pretty neat robot dog but it's quite expensive. If these things ever came down in price it would make for an awesome gadget.

I'm impressed, you've somehow managed to keep up 6 classes and work. That sounds like a recipe for disaster. 24 hours in a day doesn't seem like enough somtimes eh? I don't know how you handle it but if I were in such a position I would be broken down by stress in a month.
-
That must have been quite a shock for you. Your position is one that I can't relate to but here is my opinion. I think what they did was to your benefit. I would assume that it would be better to grow up thinking that the parents you had were your biological parents so that you don't wonder about things that could break you down emotionally. I'm guessing that your parents wanted to tell you but were overcome by fear of how you may react.

What Is Your Iq? Lets see how smart you are
Arigato replied to Unregistered 015's topic in General Discussion
I don't think that is correct. From what I have heard Einstein never took an IQ test but estimates have been given from and IQ's of 160 to 200. Also, I find it strange how no one here is even coming close to the average IQ of 100. From looking at posting trends a lot of the people reflect an IQ way lower than what they claim. I doubt all of you are telling the truth or got the results from an inaccurate source. -
There should not be a problem with leaving your computer on for long periods of time. I sometimes have both my computers on for a period of half a month at a time and they work just as good at the end as it did at the beginning. My computers have P4 processors and run on windows xp which is really stable in my experience. When I tried leaving my P3 computer on a few years back with windows 2000 it would freeze overnight. I did take precautions before leaving my computer on for so long, I purchased some stronger fans just so that it would remain at a constant low temperature to prevent anything from overheating.

My School Website Bexley Grammar School
Arigato replied to Becca's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't think that the current layout for the school site should be changed seeing how there is no problem with it. Right now it's easy to navigate and the layout is very clean. Although it's not the best looking layout I think it is very suitable for a school site. -
I don't think that having a TV cell phone would be useful at all. Why watch TV on a 2 inch cellphone screen when you could be at home watching it on a 42 inch plasma TV. Also, a cellphone TV would probably strain your eyes after a few minutes and you would barely be able to make out any details. On the phones I have seen the frame rate is quite slow and the broadcast is not very good. Then you have the issue of cost, not only is the phone expensive but so is the cost to get the channels on the phone as there aren't very many people using it right now and it is relatively new.

The program I use to encode my videos, change resolution, etc. is virtualdub. You can find the website here: http://www.virtualdub.org/ This program should be able to change resolution, fps, and codec for your videos.

How Do I Overclock My Processor? Im a newbie at all this.
Arigato replied to cragllo's topic in Hardware Workshop
If you can't afford a new processor I wouldn't try this. I taught my friend how to overlock a processor thinking that he was going to try on one of his older computers but he did it to his new one and was out just under $1000 to replace the motherboard and the processor. Even with lots of cooling you can still fry a processor. When you overclock it becomes unstable and unpredictable. Also, if anything gets damaged by this warranties won't cover it. -
I use the computer for chatting, homework, organizing photographs, sharing photographs, scanning, email, downloading, browsing the internet, research, programming, designing, games, online shopping, writing documents, calculations, searching, reading, etc.

If I had a billion dollars I would buy a nice house, car, computer, etc. and just live off the interest from the remaining money and when I die I would leave the money to a charity.

I have never really liked reading books. I need things that are very visual in order for me to be intrested as I don't have much creative imagination when it comes to books. I also have a short attention span while reading them. I use the computer frequently and I perfer reading on the computer as it is much more interactive and has alot more content.

Make Firefox 4x Faster. Get DSL Speeds With Dial-up on firefox.
Arigato replied to Benz1435's topic in The Internet
There is a catch with doing this little tweak to firefox. It makes more connections with the server you are on meaning it puts more load on the server. As one user with this tweak you act as if you were 8 people. So be kind on the servers you are on by not using this unless you really want the extra speed.By the way, network.http.pipelining.maxrequests is hardwired to 8 so if you put it any higher than that it won't make a difference. -
This seems like a bad way to promote a search engine. All this will do is cause users to make false searches just for the bounty. At the same time there will probably be paying advertisers in the search results and they will be losing their money and won't advertise at MSN anymore. It seems like a pathetic attempt to try and get users to move from google or yahoo.

Seeing how the person who made the original comment did not have a creditable source I would say this is not true. This is a myth that has been confirmed false. Here is the link for this myth at snope: http://www.snopes.com/food/tainted/kfc.asp Having a chicken genetically engineered to have no beak or feathers and dependant upon tubes would probably cost a lot more than just using normal chickens because they most likely would be unable to reproduce meaning that every egg would have to be genetically modified. Some of the people here should learn to criticize what they read before believing it. I don't see how people can believe something that sounds so false.
