  1. I've used a few control panels before like plesk and ensim and a few that were custom made and out of all of them I think that cpanel is the best one out there because it's the easiest to use, has the most useful features, has a nice interface, doesn't take much time to figure out how to use a tool and information is clearly presented in a way that is easy to understand.
  2. I don't think that is news about a hack being blocked. I think it is just saying that there is a toll free number you can dial on skype that will connect you to whoever you want to call for free at the expense of the toll free number which is ad-supported. However, it seems that the call is limited to 3 minutes which isn't very much time to hold a conversation.
  3. I have used quite a few CMSs and from my experience Mambo is the best one from that list because of its simplicity. It's very easy to use and adapt an existing site to. Also, if you wanted to write your own modules into it it's very easy because the code is clean and strait forward unlike PHPnuke which is hard to get a handle on.As for blogging I think that word press is the best CMS for the same reasons that I mentioned for Mambo. It has far less features than Mambo but more than enough for blogging which is what it was designed for.
  4. The only thing that I dislike about modern keyboards is that it makes noise. Even the slient keyboards make some noise and this laser keyboard could fix that. The problem that I see would be that your fingers would probably get hurt tapping on a hard surface a few hundred or thousand times per hour. Another problem is that having a mouse pad that displays the monitor would make having a monitor redundant. You might as well just use the mouse pad as the monitor and save on some money.
  5. This new game doesn't sound very entertaining from the description but I must say it is unique as I have never heard of this type of game before. I think this would be better if it were made to be more like a existing styles of games game. Perhaps incorporate fitness equipment into RPG's or something like that. Then it would probably be more fun and could possibly be a strong tool against child obesity.
  6. I remember reading about this elevator a while back. When I first heard of it I thought it was a crazy idea that wouldn't work but then I read about people who were working on projects to create such a thing. I still think that the idea won't work.
  7. The company that is designing these glasses could probably also incorporate 3D video technology so that things look more realistic. I would like to have one but I'm guessing that the glasses are probably more expensive than high-end plasma TV's
  8. Normally, yes, I do read others peoples post before posting my own. I noticed that alot of people don't do that. The times where I might not read the post is in the threads that have many pages with long posts. I notice that it's generally debate and rant threads that end up like this. I just read the last few posts in these kind of situations. Doing so usually gives me enough understanding of what is being discussed in order for me to join into the conversation.
  9. I was in China on vacation and I went to a restaurant with some other people who ordered up a few dishes. There was a dish that was jelly and had something in it and I didn't know what it was so I tried it and it tasted pretty bad so I ask the person next to me what it was and it turned out I ate some kind of worm that is found in the ocean which is supposed to be a delicacy there.
  10. I typically use google to look up things that I don't know so normally I only enter a search term once or twice and don't repeat search once I find what I'm looking for. Typically I enter search terms in various categories from games to science to technology.
  11. I think this is good news because both companies make many excellent movies and if pixar is purchased we will probably be seeing many more good movies in the theaters.
  12. Why would you need such range from the computer when you're using it? In order to use the computer you have to be able to see and read everything on the monitor and I don't think you would still be able to see it from another room unless you have a wireless monitor which I have yet to see. Also, I don't think bluetooth would give a practical edge over the normal wireless mouse + keyboard. The normal ones provide plenty of distance in my opinion and alot of the people I know use a wireless keyboard and mouse to get away from cords not so that they can use them further away from the computer.
  13. The news of Apple and Intel working together has been known for a while now. I think this is a great move for Apple because Intel chips work really well in my opinion.
  14. I've seen people who have a multiple hard drives totaling over a terabyte for a while now. It doesn't seem very practical to have that much storage space. Not even high end servers would use up that much. Also, this isn't very cheap right now to do and I'm not sure why a normal computer user would want to pay for space they would not use.
  15. What a crazy thing to do. Where would someone get an idea for this? Looks like alot of trouble to set-up as well. It would probably be better to just purchase a liquid cooling system instead. It also looks like a nightmare to change all that oil when it gets dirty.
  16. I also hate people who use shortcuts during typing by using things such as u or r to replace words. Why not just spend an extra millisecond to type out the whole word so it makes it easier to read. I also hate people who use 1337 talk, it has to be one of the most fustrating things to read.I however don't mind people who spell incorrectly or make grammar mistakes as long as you can still read it easily. People come to forums to enjoy a little chat not to proof read everything they wrote looking up each word in the dictionary to make sure it is correct.
  17. 21, no way. A person that is at that age probably still has three or four times that many years to live and in that many years you can still do alot. What would you think of the people who are 60-80?
  18. I think PC to landlines/mobile VoIP is a very convienient technology because it connects me with people who perfer to use the phone over the computer to chat where as I perfer to use the computer over the phone to chat. I currently use skype to do this and the rates are good. The PC to PC VoIP I think is redundant because there are so many different programs that you would have to download the talk to a large number of people.
  19. The computer may seem very expensive and much too over the top but apple and pixar are owned by the same person. Since pixar does alot of computer animated movies the better computer the better for redering which for them means movies are rendered faster bringing in more money. Other companies could use these powerful machines for similar purposes. It would probably also work as a very nice server for hosting games or websites. In terms of typical game and application use I would say that this computer is way more than you would need.
  20. Most of the loading time for a site is due to graphics, not so much the content. The biggest thing you could do if you haven't already done so is convert all images on your site from whatever it currently is to .gif using a program that will remove unused colors from the pallet, this can reduce the size of your site by over 10 times, thus significantly decreasing your site loading time.Another big factor in site loading time is javascript. Removing any javascript that you don't really need can also significantly decrease loading time if you had alot from before that you removed.
  21. This HD-DVD and Blu-Ray battle has become quite a problem. The players for both of these technologies is going to be expensive and I don't want to buy to machines for playing these discs or waste two slot on my computer. They both have their strong and weak points and are on pretty even ground in my opinion so it's pretty much pick a side and stick with it or buy the player for both. If we're lucky there will be a player that can read both. Right now I'm leaning towards HD-DVD just because it will probably be cheaper. If Blu-Ray turns out to be cheaper I will use that.
  22. I see great potential use of this product for disposal of plastics, normally plastics take a few hundred years to break down in landfills and the time it takes to break down decreases as the surface area to volume ratio increases. This could cut it down to maybe a few 10's of years. This could really benefit the environment.
  23. I like the classic dark blue jean the best. I think any other color of jeans looks quite strange. It's probably because my eyes are tuned to see jeans being dark blue. Also dark blue jeans seems to just match with most of my shirts.
  24. I've seen these and I have always wanted one. However, I'm guessing that these keyboards would have a large degree of error which would make it difficult to use and also tapping on a hard table would hurt after a while.
  25. It seems we are closely reaching our limit of how fast processors can go. After light speed I don't know how much faster we could go. In fact, even at speeds below light speed humans wouldn't notice much difference from that of computer with even less that speed for average use but it would still be very good for projects that involve alot of computing power like decrypting. Soon computers will be so good that people won't need to spend thousands in upgrading their computer for playing games are using simple applications.
