you could try this link to get a little bit more info using the error codes and debugging options. http://www.alphasoftware.com/support.asp().htm -
I have used all the different versions of windows as they have come along and i would say that they have all been mainly ok with just a few minor niggles. The problem with windows though is that it has to be able to cope with all different kinds of hardware to configure and then mix that with all the different software programs that people want to run.A major issue is that the majority of people who use computers have little or no understanding of how the computer / operating system works .... they just want to turn it on and for it to do what they need. Then you have the problem of virus's , popups , spam , etc that are written by hackers using windows coding vulnerabilities. If windows wasnt such a popular operating system then the hackers wouldnt waste their time looking for these vulnerabilities.People using linux are in the minority and probably expect to have problems as they havent had to pay for the operating system software.

in my opinion .... everything has changed.it has brought it home to me that the terrorists that the world are dealing with arent just your oddball obvious fanatics .... they are your everyday joe public.the sad thing is that you do not know if you are living near a terrorist , next door to a terrorist or living with a terrorist as the friends and family of the london bombers will probably testify to.the major depressing point is that there will not be any resolution to the problem in the near future .... it will drag on and on , like it did with the ira in northern ireland.

I wasnt having a dig at you personally ..... i was having a go at expensive cars that are just sat on carparks while their owners brag to their mates how good their car is. no offence intended.

the 7200 rpm, drives offer lower access time. They achive that in two ways: they use faster arms, and they have lower latency due to the higher rpm.Since it is access time that gives that feel of a fast drive, a 7200 rpm will be noticeably faster than a 5400rpm drive when reading many small files (as the heads move back and forth and access time is crucial).Large files on the other hand, if read sequentially are only affected in terms of speed by the STR (sustained transfer rate) of the drive which is dependend on the density of the platter and the rpm. So a 40GB/platter drive will be faster at 7200rpm than 5400 but the difference will not be as noticeable as with small files.

Sony has lost a legal battle in Australia over the modifying of its PlayStation games console. The High Court has ruled that chipping the console so that it can play imported games does not breach copyright law.The ruling ends a four-year legal battle between Sony and a supplier of so-called mod chips, which bypass regional controls on the machine. In the UK, the selling of mod chips was ruled illegal in 2004.Modchips that do not circumvent copyright protection can still be sold in the uk.For example a modchip for an xbox which comes with a cromwell bios is perfectly legal. The cromwell bios is used to enable the user to install linux based programs on the xbox.Similarly ps2 modchips can be sold , normally blank , then programmed once installed into the ps2 .

Do You Have A Mobile Phone? Then say how old are you
niloc replied to sader's topic in Mobile Phones
from your post does this mean that you do not expect anybody above 30 years old to be able to use a mobile phone ? -
do your burned dvds play in a stand alone dvd player ? what software do you have loaded on your pc to play dvds ? did you burn the dvds yourself ... if so what software did you use ? what windows operating system are you using ? what dvdr discs are you using ? if you burned the discs yourself what dvdr writer did you use ?

unfortunately some people just arent as clever as you are. remember when you did math and learned about averages ... mean , mode and median and you were shown the standard deviation graph. if you use the standard deviation graph along with the millions of computers sold woldwide , then it is obvious that everyone who owns a computer will not be as knowledgeable as you and is bound to donwload the wrong thing or click on the wrong advertisement from time to time.

personally ... living in uk .... i could not and would not spend 30K on a car.that is because cars are the biggest waste of money that i know of.my reasoning behind this is that people who own expensive cars only talk about engine size , brake horse power , alloy wheels , abs , aircon , etc , etc .but at the end of the day you take your average useage of a car and 99.9% of it is sat on your driveway , on a carpark , in your garage , on a multi-storey , outside walmart , ie parked up .... doing nothing.from a point of value for money .... you spend 30k and get 0.1% of usage ... do the math !!!!!!but i suppose they look good and it gives you something to brag about .... wow.

if you look at my previous post on installing a hdd into a ps2 ...... in my opinion that makes the ps2 very similar to an xbox , except the xbox has far better graphics.people talk about the availability of games for a ps2 being far better than an xbox , but just look at all the ps2 games ..... they are one of the foloowing ... shootem up.....doom,unreal,etc sports ... footabll, rugby, cricket, tennis, etc puchem up .... boxing, etc driving ..... formula 1,rally,etcthe xbox has all the same style of games , but far better quality

i agree with all you say , but unfortunately the laser lifespan of the ps2 is fairly limited , about 18 months - 2years ..... depending on usage.many people have brought their ps2 to me as they are getting the red screen of death ... please insert a ps2 compatible disc ..... ie the laser is on its way out.some can be recalibrated , but most need a new laser fitting .... about ?50my advice to ps2 owners is while your laser is still in good condition , get yourself a sony network adaptor and an ide hdd , about 160gig is adequate.fit these easily to your ps2 and now get yourself a hdd disk boot manager called hdadvance.put this disk in and the ps2 boots and finds your hdd.you can now copy all your games to the hdd.then you can play your games from the hdd.the advantage is that you are not using the laser , hence extending its lifespan and the games load much faster from the hdd.you can also borrow your friends games and copy them to your hdd and play those as well.also if you have a fast internet connection you can play games online via the network adaptor card.

it sounds to me like the processor is overheating.i had a similar problem when my processor fan starting running slow due to the amount of dirt in the fan.as your pc is new , it will not be dirt in the fan but could be a faulty fan , is it noisy ?the fan can also be mounted on the processor 180 degrees out of align ... there is a cutout in the fan heatsink that has to line up with the processor zif socket.if it is 180 degrees out the heatsink is then at a slight angle with the processor and therefore does not effectively take the heat away from the processor.look in bios ... some show you you fan speed and processor temp.you could also get diagnostic software for windows to show you this info if it is not in your bios .... just google "motherboard monitor" ..... its freeware.

is it 2 hdd or 1 hdd that has been partitioned ?does the problem occur if you right click on a folder when you only have 1 window open .... say c: drive.if not try it again , but now try d: drive.have you checked your task manager by pressing ctrl alt del and looking at your pc performance and also look at what memory each process is using .... it might give you a clue as to what is causing the delay.my best guess would be that xp has become corrupted somewhere and that you only have 2 alternatives. 1. do a system restore from all programs / accessories / system tools ..... choose a restore date well before the problem started to show itself on your pc.2. format c: drive and reinstall xp ..... copy all your data to d: drive that you do not want to loose , ie docs , email folders , favourites , desktop , etc.....when xp reinstalled just copy all the files back to c: drive.

Mine is terminator 2.I think it was the first time that i thought the sequel was better than the original release.I was also well impressed by the T2 show at Universal in Florida , it seemed to have everything .... live acting , 3D animation , audience interaction ..... superb.

Linux, Linux Users, Linux Community, Etc. Me expressing my hate for Linux

I have suse 9.3 installed to dual boot on my laptop. It installed without any problems and loaded drivers for all my hardware.Visually it looks very similar to windows and the desktop background looks stunning. It is all GUI driven and works perfectly. It has the advantage of being able to modify the text config files to configure it more specifically to your needs ..... i suppose this is where being a nerd comes in handy. -
Sounds like you need a linux distro. You can get versions that come on a couple of floppies or upto 1.5gig. Take a look at this link to see if there is anything that might suit you. http://bengross.com/smallunix/

I have always used AMD processors because they are not as overpriced as Intel processors.AMD do tend to run a lot hotter than Intel , but this is not a problem as long as you have a good processor heasink/fan.
