Wi-fi Problem Between a laptop and a desktop
niloc replied to andrescasta's topic in Computer Networks
to me it would seem that your router is working correctly as webpages are being loaded without problems to your laptop which is connected wirelessly.as your desktop pc is connected via network cabling it rules out all the wireless SSID / security authentication problems.do a virus scan on the desktop pc ... it may be infected.if that reveals nothing , my advice is to reinstall windows on your desktop pc as it seems to have got corrupted. -
all the blacks and greys on the site make it very difficult to read ... use colours that make text stand out from the background.i get a redirection limit error when i try to log in.i get a members only error when i try the controls.the about page is far too much black and grey.i cant say that there is anything good about the site.

Turn Your Pc Into A Console With this program you will run any games
niloc replied to sorathSGC's topic in Computer Gaming
i am not really a fan of pc gaming as you always seem to require a state of the art pc to be able to play the latest games flawlessly.unfortunately when the game makers release further games , they push the pc hardware requirements just a little bit further and you find yourself in need of a hardware upgrade again or as this link shows , a software tweak to improve the gaming performance of the pc.i prefer to stick with game consoles , so that when i buy the latest game i know its going to work on the console without having to worry. -

Operating System Not Found Error Displayed On Start Up
niloc replied to jlhaslip's topic in Hardware Workshop
i dont understand how bios info can be stored on the hard drive. the bios ... basic input output system ... is the software that enables all the basic components of a computer to operate. it tests the ram for errors , it looks for an 8259 chip which controls interrups , it loads software into ram to initialiase what happens when input from the keyboard or mouse is received ... ie it loads interrupt vectors , software to be run when a certain interrupt is received. it looks for ide channels .... what your hdd are connected to ... if it finds ide channels it loads interrupt vectors 14 and 15 with software to run when it gets a request from the primary or slave hdd. how can bios info be stored on the hdd when it is the bios that initially sets up the hdd to operate?? -
unfortunately i didnt have one , but a friend of mine did. he built a cable car system with his. this was basically a piece of supporting wire from one end of his bedroom to the other. the cable traversed along the wire until it reached the end of the wire , which then activated a limit switch , this then reversed the direction of the drive motor and the cable car then traversed back along the cable. the same happened at the other end of the cable. it looked fantastic and was something that you couldnt find in the shops , it was something very individual.

it me me laugh how advertisers like to make a science out of advertsing , stating marketing profiles , genders , lifestyles , etc.when at the end of the day they always use the tried and tested method of grabbing 50% of the publics attention , ie males , with a bit of cleavage.

there are a few things that you can try , but ultimately your laser is on its way out.first make sure that your discs are clean ... a suspect laser struggles to read disc that are covered in finger prints.clean your disc from the centre outwards , not concentrically.never stand your ps2 on its end .. always lie it flat ... having it mounted vertically just decreases the life of the laser.now your at the point that the ps2 wont read discs , you need to see if it will read cds , but not dvds.put in a cd game .... if it reads it , you may have half a chance of sorting out your ps2.put in a dvd game ... if you get the red screen of not reading disc properly and you have tried a dvd disc cleaner disc then the only option is to go inside the ps2.to do this you need to remove the 8/10 screws ... some under the rubber pads from the ps2 lid.now remove the 4 screws from the dvd cover.there are 2 cylindrical bars that the laser traverses on .... on the lhs one there is an adjusting screw to set the height of the laser with respect to the disc ... note its original position .... now slighlt adjust it ... say by 45 degrees .... now try a disc that doesnt work..... does it work now ?keep doing slight adjustments , both clockwies and anticlockwise .... if you do not see any improvement , then reset to original position.above the laser is a white plastic gear ... this sets the angle between the disc and the laser.note its original position .... now adjust it by 1 tooth either clockwise or anticlockwise... do not adjust by more than 3 teeth as you are wasting your time.last of all you can modify the laser power by adjusting pots underneath the laser.1 pot is for cd disc calibration and the other is for dvd disc calibration.remove the 2 screws that hold the cylindrical bars and now the laser can be removed and turned upside down.note the position of the pots ..... slighty adjust the right hand side pot anticlockwise to increase the laser power for dvd discs .... never adjust it by more than 20 degrees in either direction.i dont know how to add pictures in to this to try and give a visual description of what i am trying to say.i am sure if you ggogle ps2 laser calibration , you will find pictues showing what i am talking about.

you can backup your ps2 discs.what you need to do is to get your self a ide hdd , at least 80g and a sony ps2 network adaptor. the hdd goes in the ps2 expansion bay and the network adaptor plugs into the hdd and into the ps2 expansion connector. now you need to get a disc called hdadvance. you boot with the hdadvance disc and it allows you to copy games from cd or dvd onto the hdd. once you have copied your games hdadvance allows you to play the games directly from the hdd. it costs about Ł15 for the hdadvance disc and Ł15 for the network adaptor. then you have to add on the cost of the hdd .... unless you happen to have a spare one it even works with the ps2 slimline , but you have to get yourself an external usb drive. check out the link http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

i had never done a website before , so i was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to create a professional looking website in seconds using dreamweaver 8.i used the halo template and modified it to what i wanted.i found that it led me nicely into messing around with the css script files to give me the desired look of my website.i did try frontpage a couple of years ago and didnt get anywhere with it.maybe frontpage has become easier and more user friendly , but i dont think i will be checking it out as i am sold on dreamweaver now.

have you checked to see if windows thinks that you have a 100gig hdd fitted.go on my computer and look at the total size of the hdd .... is it what you think it should be ???if not .... go into your bios and see if your bios is reporting back the hdd that you think it should be.if it is not .... it might be that if its an old motherboard you will have to flash the bios to enable it to see hdd greater than 8.4gig.

You can put your mpegs onto a dvd or cdrom if the file size is small enough.Just select cd-iso or dv-iso dependant on the disk type and then drag the files you want and burn the iso.The disk will play in most standalone dvd players.I had one standalone dvd player that would not play the mpeg if the mpeg file size was above 2gig.If you want to convert your mpeg files to dvd format , then just google "dvd santa".Download it and it will let you easily convert them.
