  1. Thank you for putting one of my banners on your site, it is much appreciated. When you create your banner account you need to provide the URL to your banner, so yes, it will be hotlinked. The reason I do this so you can change your banner at any time you choose. However, if you have hotlink protected your directories there could be a problem with this. If you'd rather not hotlink the banner, I could upload the banner to my site for you, but of course you won't be able to change your banner at will then. Another option is to host the banner on a site like imageshack as I have below. As for a banner, perhaps something like this will do the job? (Probably looks a bit familiar )
  2. That is very clever. I wonder if the father will also 'read between the lines'? It is quite sad the boyfriend has to resort to this type of thing. As a parent I have been in a similar situation where I was not very pleased with my daughter's choice of boyfriend, however, I kept my thoughts to myself. I consider it not my place to make comment to my daughter about my her choice of boyfriend. My instincts were right and she saw him for what he is before long and they broke up. While I don't like to see my daughter 'hurt', I think it's an important lesson in life that she has learnt and she doesn't see me as an interfering father.
  3. The sig is a gift to you, you can use it anywhere online you choose.
  4. A few things about your site: Once in the gallery, there is no link back to the main site The thumbnails in the gallery don't appear to be working Once in the forums, there is no link back to the main site The skin used for the the forum seems 'agressive' compared to the main part of the site I like the clean layout for the main part of the site, but the forums don't match the theme.
  5. As has been said, you must make a formal complaint about this teacher. You are there to learn and it sounds like you want to, but with a teacher like this you will suffer. Once you find a real teacher you will not have the understanding of science that you should have.As for your formal complaint, I recommend the complaint be in writing and be addressed to the head of the school, and the political leader for education if you really want to make an impact. Do not mess around trying to talk to the teacher, I think you would be wasting your time. You must put an end to this nonsense as soon as possible, the futures of a whole classroom of students is at stake here. Surely there must be a curriculum this teacher should be following, all you need to prove is the fact that he is not following it.
  6. The only problem with this plan is that Google don't pay until your account reaches $100. If you're only earning $10 a month then you would have to pay for your hosting for the first 10 months. Once you do this and are 10 months in front, then its not a problem. Just something to keep in mind.
  7. Is this something like what you want? Link to sig
  8. How can you forget Australia's magnificent win in the last olympics men's speed skating!! That was just pure class, trip up all your opponents and sail past them. We have some pretty good women ski jumpers too, not bad for a country with very little snow.
  9. Even so, I would still like my site to look pretty much the same no matter which browser is used. Because of this I will try to avoid using formatting that is only applicable to one browser.
  10. It might be difficult to find brushes for a version of Photoshop that old, but if you're going to find them anywhere, I think you'll find them at deviantART. Good luck!
  11. There are a couple that really annoy me. The one that says and... I know these sometimes, (or used to) appear on Xisto, but they are just lame. Then there is the one showing on this page right now... A bouncing banner that says...
  12. What should we do with this SOTW? Close it off without a winner? 3 entries and only 3 votes is hardly a competition.
  13. I was wondering if you could enlighten us with what your plans are for the shoutbox? (I kinda miss it) Will it return or are you planning something better? Can you also explain the 'Rating' function that we see on posts now? What does it do and how does it affect users and posts?Something else I thought might be useful is to show how many credits a post earns, in the header of the post perhaps. This would help those that seem to have trouble earning credits by showing them what sort of posts earn good credits. I imagine this wouldn't be that easy to code, but maybe it's something worth thinking about.
  14. No problem OpaQue, compared to the amount of work you are putting in to making this forum better, me losing a few images in the gallery is nothing. I'll just wait a bit until I upload again, just in case you need to reset again. This is a transitional period, things like this are bound to happen, I should have known better really.I have to say I'm loving the upgrade so far, especially having the edit function. With the amount of typos I make, it means I can fix my typing mistakes without needing to bother a moderator for such a trivial thing.
  15. Given he replied to a topic about 4 hours ago, I would say he has seen these messages. SM, hopefully you can see from these responses that people here care about you. While I doubt we can help you much with your personal problems at the moment, we still care about your welfare. Life can be difficult at times, these are the times we need to seek help from others, even if we think we are too proud to do so. There is no shame in seeking help, we all need help from time to time. While it's not the same, just think about the number of people you have helped here with your knowledge. I'm sure there are people out there that have the knowledge to help you with your problems.
  16. Saint Michael, I really hope you reconsider you decision to leave the forums. You have been a valuable contributor to the community and your good humour is refreshing. Your skills with graphics have taught me, and I'm sure many others a lot. You will be very sorely missed around here if you leave. You have earned the respect of a lot members with your dedication to the GFX section of the forum and without your efforts it would have never been as successful as it was. Sure, it's a little quiet at the moment, but I'm sure it's just a phase that will pass.I cannot pretend to understand what you went through when you were serving your country overseas. But I am sure there are many support groups out that do understand and can help you overcome the way you currently feel. Seek them out, I'm certain they will be more than willing to help you through this difficult time in your life.Take care mate and make me laugh again.
  17. The new forum looks good and it does run a lot faster. I wonder if this is because the advertising is not installed yet? Really looking forward to the edit feature.
  18. That is the whole point, to generate interest and get people voting again. Hopefully if credits are offered more designers will be interested, which means a more popular topic which in turn should mean more voting. SOTW has been quiet lately, this is an idea to pick things up a bit. Any other ideas greatfully accepted. truefusion, I don't care who donates the credits. Truth be known you probably have a lot more credits to donate than I do, but I still have enough. I don't find credits that hard to earn. Perhaps you can afford or want to donate more, I just thought a week's worth of credits was appropriate for a weekly competition.
  19. MUDs are still very popular among a lot of people and come in many different flavours. Some are a strict role-playing environment and some are basically a 'hack and slash' game where you type commands to travel around a world described in words and kill anything you come across, including other players at times. Then there are others that somewhere in between those two types. MUD's can be very immersive if the desriptions to the rooms and monsters are well done. It's like becoming involved in an every changing story where you have the chance to change the outcome of certain parts of the story. The themes of the MUDs also vary immensley, from Medieval themes, (often Tolkien stories) to futuristic games based on Star Wars and the like. I used play these games quite a lot a couple of years ago and found them very enjoyable. I helped run a few of them here and there by writing areas for players and helping as an admin. It was also the reason I started my web site, Mud Mall Fantasy Gallery so players could use images from my gallery for their characters. The games require patience, imagination and a bit of effort to play them. If you don't like to read, then they are not for you. If you're interested in playing one to see what it's like, I suggest going to the most popular listing of these types of games there is at The Mud Connector, they currently have 1836 MUDs listed there. Be patient to start as it will be difficult to get the hang of how everything works, most times you can ask other players for help or there are designated helpers in the game. The best part about these games is they are usually free to play. Be warned though, they can comsume a lot of your time.
  20. Does this mean no brushes, only filters? Also, to try and generate some interest in the SOTW, I am willing to donate 7 credits to the winner. The competition is weekly, so the award will be a week's worth of hosting credits. Obviously this only of use to members that have free hosting here, sorry but I can't offer non-hosted members anything. This has 2 conditions: The Mods and Admin approve of me doing so. The winner must not be a member of the T17 GFX Crew. The purpose of this is to encourge new designers to enter the SOTW. Besides, I doubt any member of the T17 GFX Crew need the credits.
  21. truefusion, I love that font! Can you tell me what it is called please?
  22. File Size: 19.20 MB (20,136,060 Bytes)Est. Download Time: 53 Minutes at 56KI'm on a 56K dial-up connection, guess I'll look elsewhere for renders.
  23. Here's my entry. Hopefully this SOTW generates more interest than the last one. Link to sig My suggestion for the next SOTW. No render, text only, text must be only be full forum username, fractal brushes only. I struggle with text like I think quite a few others do, could be a good challenge.
  24. I think the idea has merit. What if you were to put a time limit on the duration the site can be suspended? Say, if the site in not unsuspended within 12 weeks then the site is deleted. I know it will still use resources for 12 weeks, but at least it will remove the redundant accounts.Personally I can't see myself needing this feature, but I'm sure there are a few out there that could find it useful.
