YouTube can be really nice and funny, but you have to admit, that it is way to waste time for most.
It became the most popular activity at my school whenever a computer is at hand and no teacher nearby. Needless to say, that there are useful videos too, i.e. we watched Martin Luther King's I Have A Dream Speech in english today â using Google Video. But it is only a small share that is useful.
The player is not that great though. Of course, the player makes it harder to hard-copy the videos, but it also has many shortcomings (for example, if you drag your mouse for a few seconds, the movie will stop). But since Flash is the probably best spread and feature-richest player around it's cool.
By the way, anyone looking to hard copy videos from

Angry Alien, ArtistDirect, Blastro, Blennus, Blip.tv, Bofunk, Bolt, Break.com, Castpost, Current TV, Dailymotion, DevilDucky, FindVideos, Free Video Blog, Google Video, Grinvi, Grouper, iFilm, LuluTV, Metacafe, Midis.biz, Music.com, MusicVideoCodes.info, MySpace, MySpace Video Code, Newgrounds, PcPlanets, Pixparty, Putfile, REVVER, Sharkle, StreetFire, That Video Site, The One Network, VideoCodes4U, VideoCodesWorld, VideoCodeZone, vidiLife, VIDNET.com, Vimeo, vSocial, Web62.com, YouTube and ZippyVideos.

(so about anything in Flash), should get acquainted with Keepvid.com. It uses some kind of user-based ripper, works really well and you can get the movies in many different formats (even for iPods). You ought to try it out, but don't forget that there is copyrighted stuff on these video sites too, but as far as I know (at least in my country), one copy for your own behalf is allowed.
Have fun,
Ruben

Oh too bad didn't know about this. But what happened to old videos which had more than 10min length? Are they still up? I remember watching awesome snooker tricks videos (some having more than 30min) in YouTube and Google Videos. Actually, I think I watched almost all of them. :)

http://keepvid.com/ is really nice by the way... And I believe (theoretically, of course) that if you give away the copyright of you video when you upload, it should be no crime to download videos...

Youtube.com is really good. I never found two-hour films there though... I mean, I never looked for any, but I find it odd that they'd host something like that... I usually go there to see the various jokes people post (I have participated in two of them myself...). My favourite videos are the music videos though. Not the ones shown on MTV but alternative live versions of songs that I really like. Here, check this out:

Desert Sessions (Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age and PJ Harvey) playing "I Wanna Make it Wit' Chu" -> http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Coldplay playing Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" -> http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Le Ciel Dans Une Chambre (a short film a friend of mine made this year, I helped him '=) -> http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

What about http://www.xtube.com/ and http://www.pornotube.com/? They're like youtube, except they (only) allow adult content (porn). They have some really good stuff too.

Well, I like youtube.com a lot. The streaming videos for free, easy loading, what more can you get? Well anyways there is competition here. Google Video is out and I heard that Microsoft is following suite. It's quite a struggle but I haven't really tried out those two. Back to the point. YouTube has the LARGEST collecton of streaming video there. A quick search could reveal plenty of those files. A good website.

I dont know if it has been mentioned here through the posts that has been added, but I just read that Google bought out Youtube. Youtube posted a little stream video talking about how the founders of google talked that it was a good deal and that they will continue to deliever there users with innovative technology. But it seems like instead of google trying to create their own version of video streaming, they went ahead and just bought the company that have already established the business. I wonder if the name of youtube going ot be called at a later date? GoogleTube? haha, but yea seems like interested news that I thought I share with those still looking and posting at this topic.

If i'm correct, Google only bought a share of youtube. And youtube is allowed to keep all management of their system. But with this should come a huge boost in youtube's movie qualities from now on. Youtube's an excellent place and an ingenius idea to watch movies. I especially like the idea of watching little episodes of anime shows that only air in Japan but fansubbed into youtube, making it easily available to practically everyone in the world. This form of televising is at the most, totally un-illegal as the subbing is done free. What I'm really against about youtube is the hosting of whole copyrighted movies on their site. It is illegal and everyone should know that.

if youtube knew people were hosting full movies they would get automatically banned, it says so in their terms and conditions, there may be a way of bypassing youtubes filters. then again streaming a full movie thats only 100mbs on the internet must not be that worthwhile.I mean how great can the quality actually be?

I cannot believe that I did not find this topic earlier... Youtube! I think as long as it filter all of the vulgarities like it has been, it could stay around for a really long time. I can't lie, that I have spent large amounts of time sitting in from of youtube... older music videos, past sitcoms, man just about anything!I am trying to incorporate youtube with my webpage whenever possible... and without overkilling my pages. I like that I can have one idea to look up, and then afterwards go to another whole topic by just linking video after video. I would upload a lot of my personal videos, but I just don't think it's quality... I usually keep it to my myspace. As long as it is not abused, I am hoping that youtube will be a site that will be around for a while. It is nice taking some time and linking video parts and getting a movie or event type atmosphere... There was only a handful of entries that didn't show up... but almost anything else has and will be at my disposal... Gotta love it!

The onset of Youtube was very rapid. Today, almost every regular internet user browses through the countless array of videos. Actually the site was immensely popular even before Google bought it. I too have my section of vidoes at Youtube. All of them are Game Play videos from my favourite game series - Guilty Gear.
