where did you learn html from?

Recommended Posts

I learned HTML by myself through tutorials and that kinda stuff. I dont know much but I know more than I did before I started. I learned from some of the tutorials on http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ but I also did some google searches for HTML codes. Theres also sites out there that list all the html codes that you would ever need. :P

I first got on the internet through my school, and being the curious sort, I started wondering how webpages worked. Once I found the "View Source" command on Netscape, HTML was part of my life. To get started I just used common sense (like the <img> tag was for an image, etc), then once I got the basics, I improved my skills by searching the internet for definitions and attribute help. Advanced tags, Javascript, XML...it all stems from HTML.

Where did I first learn HTML? That was about 2 years ago. I was learning about it in my web design class. I remember the first time I used it. We had to use Notepad. It was a very crappy web page...a very crappy web page. It was so ugly and useless (I used a space background! ). After that, I learned the rest from tutorials on the Internet.

i also learned in a website class at my school a few years ago. but the stuff they taught was really basic. all it was was like bold, italics, underline, fonts, a few colors, tables, and frames, pretty much stuff you could learn easily just looking around on the internet. i had never even heard of anything like iframes. and now a couple years later i decided i would try to make a website. next i think ill try to teach myself php or some other language.

I taught myself a lot of it by creating pages in Dreamweaver's Design view, then looking at the source code and trying to edit it. I also had a lot of help from w3schools.com. Their tutorial was fantastic, I found it easily understandable to a complete newbie to HTML like I was.

I jusst read books I borrowed from the local library and just slowly started building up my own website although for some reason I suck at doing table tags althoug the div tags are extremely good.

I stumbled upon the internet, and basically found out about making websites.Of course you need codes and such, but this host only allowed HTML, CSS and Java I think...Anyway, so dealing with lots of codes, mainly HTML and CSS, I've picked up a few things here and there.I'm not that advanced. I reckon I'm a beginner. I can do little switches ect. I don't use any programs... Just do it in the database.I might further my understanding of it... but I'm too busy at the moment, so I'm not sure on that.

The first time i study html is when i was 14 yrs old, i really doesn't like it.. coz at first, i thought working with html is too easy.. But when i started working with php, javascripts, ajax, css, it really does make sense to me.. without html, there will be no proper codings.

i learned html about 3 years after the www was public. i think i did a search on yahoo and low and behold, i found about 3 great websites. all had something different to offer. i printed out about 200 pages worth of stuff, stuck it in a notebook binder and would study a section every day. one of the sites had an online tutorial which would allow me to write in html and show me what my work looked like through each section of the online tutorial. i'm sure there are better ones out there now for anyone interested in researching it. the tutorials were good at first to learn colors and text and the format html uses for a webpage. after i learned the basics, i went on to geocities(before they merged with yahoo) and started to create my first webpage. any problem i would run in to, i searched it out in yahoo(now i like google) and found the answer. every answer to any problem i had, i would write it down and file it so if i ever forgot the solution, i wouldn't have to spend time researching it again.html was fairly easy to learn for me only because i had already taught meyself a few languages before html. the key is understanding the rules to the language. i was never good at memorizing terms but they became easier to remember the more i used them. also, it was fairly easy for me because html is a pretty basic language and not a lot involved with it. anyone can probably learn it in a month. when you learn html though, don't confuse it with the other languages you can embed in the html document because that is when it will get more confusing until you understand how the other languages work and what they can do.
