That brings me to think about how photographers actually take the time to find their cameras, set-up their podium and everything and snap a few shots? I'm not biased towars photographers but don't you think photographers live a very hectic life? If they don't get a good picture, someone else would provide a better picture and news companies will not accept yours: There goes today's dinner!Back to the meteorite, how lucky d oyou think you would be to be able to spot one close up in a point of your life? Would you recognize it as a lucky charm? Of course stuff like this don't happen most of the time but if shooting stars can get a person's attention, why not meteorites?

There is a way of creating these types of web-based games? I've heard of many other web-based games and they look complicated. This game may not seem THAT complicated but what about games like "neopets" and some others? Those would require extensive coding don't you think? I mean how are we supposed to use HTML to save everything that a certain user does? If Kings of Chaos is a downloadable script, why do people still play it and enjoy it? Everyone would be off creating their own games if it was that simple!

OK I'm all ears to getting rid of my school's master control admin thing. I'm not a real wizz at this hacking/virus/spyware issue so fill me in. I'm really annoyed everything some dishonest teacher comes in and starts to spy on your computer screen using a master control and one button would transfer whatever is on your screen to be on his/hers. Like a projector you know? The computers that students use are also very restricted and most stuff i can do at home i can't do it in school which i hate because i have conflict with my dad everytime i want to use the computer. Naturally, downloading stuff from the internet will be a problem because the security system of the school is really strong and would cancel anything that is not certified. (This includes Firefox) I heard Firefox uses a different way in accessing the internet. If I'm able to get Firefox to the school computer, i might be able to download other stuff without the school's network secrurity thingi BEEPING on me all the time. What i really need now is some basic skills. Just some to bypass the school's master control and do some real fun with the computers. I'm not going to mess the computers up but i just like it when i have the freedom to even 'change the wallpaper of my school account BECAUSE THE XP GRASSLAND WALLPAPER REALLY LOOKS HORRIBLE'. Sorry for being sarcastic... Thanks if anyone is able to help though!

Are there really extensions for hotmail and yahoo? I use gmail with it so its quite convenient. Personally i think it loads pretty slow and checking it on the iexplore browser is much faster than using thunderbird. But if you keep using it, it somehows gets faster everytime you open it. There's also the gmail notifier that comes in Google. When you get mail you open thunderbird. Easy. Thunderbird is also a great companion to Firefox. You can set Firefox's default e-mail client to be Thunderbird. I don't see why anybody would want to use outlook. It is pretty cool but not as much plugins as Thunderbird and Firefox.

I recommend you always back-up your work as often as possible. When installing a huge script that may potentially have a lot of errors, back it all up on on a separate folder until you are sure the script works. Unfortunately, i do not know what you should do to get your configuration details back but you could start developing a habit of making 'quick-saves' throughout your time in coding. This would help you gravely, trust me.

I've heard of a rumour saying iexplore and firefox is soon going to switch to XHTML. I'm not sure what it means but is there any difference or is it just a file ext. diff? I know HTML is a very "happy-go-lucky" coding style (You don't have to caps most of the codes for example) and other coding like php and JAVA is very strict. Will XHTML be stricter than normal old html? That reminds me of shtml...its still working around is it?

OK more information that might help:The window is a WINDOWS PROMPT window. So its not like a pop-up through the internet. The whole window "pops up" WITHOUT the internet on. And ad-aware, norton, spybot all doesn't work. I even tried Microsoft Anti-spyware! None works. Somehow i think I'll try the add-on for ad-aware for the hijack thing. That might really work although i don't really think its an VX2 infection because when i went to the site, the virus is vaguely like the one in my dad's comp but not totally. It might be the same type of spyware though so I will know its the same way to kill it as a VX2 infection.

OK firstly, I've run all the free spyware prevention software and none did work. Spybot, ad-aware, spy-doctor, norton, everything! Secondly, my dad isn't the type that likes to "change". So well, he doesn't actually agree to me when i asked him to use firefox like 2 weeks ago. I keep asking him to use firefox but he never listens. There is no hope. Internet Explorer has been scammed! OK full details: Problem? A program which keeps popping up a window which says - There is an OK and CANCEL button. It also has a "X" button at the top right hand. It is not a potentially dangerous trojan but it is DEAD annoying and my dad hates it and wants it out of his laptop. Personally i can't figure this out myself even with some help from professionals on the net. Finally, i posted it here in Xisto in desperation to get this done with. Computer details? Microsoft Windows XP SP1 Actually, so far the best site that 'helped' me understand a bit about this trojan-like thing is Extreme tech support. The help that the "admin" there didn't really help though. I cannot find the file inside my disk at all. What do i do? I would really appreciate anyone who can help me get this irritable file out of my dad's laptop. Thanks!

Hmm... big point there. But linksys is supposed to be an international brand, or so i heard. On the phone with some nice lady who helped me out for a long time, i was told that linksys is a bit sensitive. I don't think it is able to detect the "waves" emitting out of my "Compex" wireless router. Compex may not be a very known brand to you all but it is a Singapore brand just for your info. Maybe I should get a linksys router...I believe linksys will still work better than a compex one.

Erm...just a comment, weren't we supposed to keep our hosting credits around 7-10? I have mine at 26 at the moment. I believe its quite safe up at that spot Well, not so vulnerable to hit -4 credits...I don't actually post for the credits. At the beginning when i first joined Xisto yes, i admit i posted for the free hosting but now, I feel a great passion when i post. I just don't stop and i hope to contrubute as much as i can in the days to come. Anyway, back to the subject. When you all had -4 credits did any of you check your cpanel or hosting account? Was it suspended? Did you have problems logging in or were you still able to log in? If you were able to, then you're safe! At least...thats what i think it should be... is it?

I'm sorry but could you be a bit more specific on your topic. From here, I can only tell that you are designing a book cover for your school work with the Illustrator program. Currently, you want to show it and let people look at it through this Xisto forums but you don't know how to upload it. You like simple designs and you've done the whole drawing using the mouse. In all, you want your opinion in what you have drew. If this is a case of "How do i upload images" I would recommend using image hosting websites like Imageshack, Ripway, and Tinypic. These are the few best ones i can find free on the net. I hope this is what you're looking for.

Hey cool new feature with Google! I'm dying to use it but the site seems to be a bit vague on the details don't you think? I see all the features but i see no price. Somehow, the "How do you do it" table at the bottom seems to apply to only US residents. Do other countries get this feature too? Is "Google SMS" computere generated answers or is it human powered? Well I totally agree with you. I can still remember Google as a loner search engine during the old times when i was still using Yahoo! as my main search engine. MSN wasn't too bad those times too. Now Google wants to expand more and more. Doesn't this remind you all of Microsoft?

So is telnet still being used for any other uses except MUD games? I see more people using telnet for MUDs than doing some sort of crazy application regarding the interaction between server and yourself? During your explanation of your version of what telnet is like, i can tell something very suspicous coming out of your text. OK I'm thinking: If you are able to just type GET/ index.html from the yahoo server (Of course i know its protected) then are you able to GET more things out of it? This telnet thing might be a key tool in a hacker's kit. Do you think so?

Actually I'm very interested about this language thing. JohnNitro might be refering to the TOTAL interface of the computer OS in Japan is in Japanese. What i mean is like the windows, the settings of the computer. Is it all in English? Maybe the help files may be in Japanese too. Szupie, you said something about the default INPUT language right? Does it refer to the default language that you normally type in? Or is it the total system language change? JohnNitro, just to answer your question on your English software question, it is a definite yes. I don't see why english software will be affected by language settings. At most, you'll just see a bunch of weird letters which will supposedly be english but you just don't have the language being supported in your OS. (I'll never believe it when it happens)P.S Szupie, I'm quite sure the Japanese written language is in like a "chinese" style of writing. Sort of like pictograms you know?

Service pack 2 is just another one of those "extra" software which like musichere said, is not compulsory as long as you patch up your computer and check for updates on virus definitions. The firewall that comes with Service pack i believe is totally unecessary because now i have 2 programs asking my permission to allow a certain knick-knack program i have if it can access the internet. Trust me, you only need one anti-virus software which asks your permission before allowing a program to access the internet or accessing your computer from the internet. It might be a little problematic but seeing it will be the best way to block potential viruses with a human brain, why not?

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Sadas. My computer runs perfectly without much anti-virus cum spyware software. I barely have a Full norton anti-virus (It expired and i didn't bother to renew it) and another ad-aware software. Thats all i need for my computer to be running fast. It's practically fool-proof!

Wow an excellent job in creating a wonderful tutorial on writing a document in "games-going-commercial". I myself won't be finding teams of 50 as i realise even with teams of 50, a few years of hard work will need to be put in an RPG before it can be fully done. But this tutorial shows every step you must take in order to make sure you get your game published. It shows details,examples, personal opinion and thankfully...Many milestones. P.S You get a one UP reputation for this!!

I share a wireless network with my family. Because i only bought ONE external wireless network adapter (Compex), only one person gets to use at a time. The compex adapter worked PERFECTLY and connected to my compex router with excellent speed (erm.. maybe because they're of the same brand??) A few days back i bought an internal wireless adapter (linksys) and tried to get it working on my computer so more than 2 people can surf the net at once. Unfortunately, it didn't work out well for me. I fixed it up and everything went well. I started configuring its settings to detect my wireless network. It didn't manage to detect it at all but my neighbor's network!I called the linksys company and they helped me out. I managed to install the original driver which comes with the linksys package and the internet suddenly came to me. I was so glad then. But when i left it on for about 3 hours, it got cutoff. After that fatefull moment, i m only able to get 3 or 4 stutters of my network when i try to connect.Today, i cannot even get a signal. I have no idea what happened. All the time it is able to connect to my neighbor's network but not mine!! I think it might be its sensibility problem... I'm so annoyed by it. I feel like getting another external adapter...Does anyone know my problem here? I've tried virtually everything to get this done with...

This reminds me of a recent review i saw on television that many home users now choose to use Linux as a more "virus-free" OS. Apparently, most viruses and worms tend to get attracted to Windows and Macs more than Linux. Sure Linux may not be "cool" looking. But who needs that now if u have all the good hardware, just need a simple anti-virus software, and only need the computer for fast-paced action-packed games?

Erm..sorry to disappoint your hard work guys but I've herd of these web-blogging software and i can tell you it is mind-boggling!! I spent 3 hours working on b2 and still not able to figure it out. I might try again but all that code is utterly confusing. Well so in this case, Hercco's idea is best for me. I'll try wordpress from fantastico and see if it works out. If it doesn't, well i guess I'm going to have to do the old fashioned way of creating ftp accounts for my friend. If it does...WHEE!!

I've seen websites with a news page in a manner like blogging. With the time, date and all that. But the one thing interests me most in these kind of "blogs" is the "multi-user" style they use. They may have one person posting some information and then there will be another "sub-admin" posting another. How would i go about doing this without letting my friend knowing my password to my cpanel and giving him access to everything.What i mean is to know how to create a portion of your site which you allow your friend to update while he never gets to touch the rest of your files. Does anyone have any idea how you do this?

Just a thought because I'm the worst newbie in ftp. For ftp accounts, when you create one for another person, does it mean the account takes part of your bandwidth and space and it becomes a whole new webhosting account but without all the features? Something like a file-uploading host? OR Does it make it so that your "friend" can access your files in YOU ftp? Sorry I'm quite a loser in ftp. I'm not sure about all of this ftp talk. Just know that it looks like "My documents" as in explorer =).

Of course everyone knows that having anti-virus software is crucial to your computer's survival on the net these days. Everyone is vulnerable to an attack and having anti-virus software will minimize the chances of getting one by alot. But I do not seriously believe that not having anti-virus software will mean that your computer will be totally vulnerable. I myself turn off my firewall most of the time on the net because there are still some safe sites which are blocked. (Basically i just forget to turn my firewall back on after I'm done...) I scan my computer for spyware using Ad-aware maybe once every month and usually get 1 or 2 wandering spyware files in my computer. Its no big deal. Viruses are now a thing of the past. New computers usually all come equipped with programs ready to pounce on any suspicous files. Site hosts checks frequently for virus files on their customer's accounts. I don't see why we should get all these software. Maybe we SHOULD at least have Anti-virus software but forget the firewall or spyware scanning for home users. It is IMPOSSIBLE to actually clear off all these threats from your computer. Everyone would definitely once in maybe a few years reformat their computers and start over with nothing in it. No problem!
