Woo hoo!!! I found my "not-a-Facebook-fan-and-user" kin. *high five!!!* I don't have a Facebook, mySpace or a Bebo or a MSN user thingy account either. I know that you can get hooked, and I know how addictive they are, because my friends are constantly on them day and night. I don't even have MSN either, and I am proud of it. I don't play games anymore, and the only reason why I would do so is to make some friends and spread the name of my site around, like advertising my site so that people will visit it... But I'm not up to that yet... yeah not now really... but yeah, I'm pretty much agaisn't having a social networking site account... I mean, what's the point if you can see your friends every single day anyway? Plus, even you went overseas, you can still use your email, or use the mobile phone... I personally find this a much better option than MSN chatting, because you don't get pressurized into keep chatting with your friends until like, three am in the morning, each other not wanting to end the conversation and put each other down and yet knowing that you should go to sleep or ou won't be able to wake up tomorrow. For email, it's just simple. It doesn't require you to meet up with your friends at a certain time in space and you can just wait for your friends reply without getting pressured into replying every time. And I mean, how cool it that??? Very.

Paranormal Activity Ever had a paranormal experience?
Nameless_ replied to Thing's topic in General Discussion
Argh... darn it. I just realised that I wrote "deva ju" and not "deja vu". I always get them mixed up... But anyway... I'm glad you understand... and of course the paranormal doesn't have any proof. That's why it's called the "paranormal". It's out of this world (or so it seems like) and I wasn't talking about religious documents as part of the paranormal field. It is just that many religious people seem to think that if we can move things with our minds or read other people's minds, we would undermine the power of God. This is not so. I mean, the most we can do the to move a piece of paper, maybe a calculator or two, but that isn't enough to part the red seas or move deserts or whatever Jesus did... (as you can see, I don't really know that much about jesus... Paranormal phenomena is similar to faith, apart from the fact that you get proof if you have faith and that you try hard enough to make it work. Faith in religion doesn't. You only know if the faith that you had in life worked out after you died. This is the difference. For the proof, well, I don't think you can find any solid proof. I know that I can't show it to you... but think... just think, that maybe Jesus parted the red sea with telekinesis, the ability to move things with your mind, and maybe Jesus can read minds too... you never know, right? I have to say that if you really want proof, then you will need to look deep within yourself. Only you can make proof for yourself. I know I have. And that is why I believe.... Good luck. -
Haha, sorry guys, I haven't been quite active lately, so I haven't replied till now...I guess you're right. I'm sure it will be updated soon, and I have plenty of myCENTS in store, thanks myself posting nonstop like a maniac in the middle of the night for the past two months, so I guess I'll survive... and I'm just a bit paranoid, I suppose. Oh well...I have faith in Xisto, it's just that people were worrying and so that got my worried too. But I'm sure it's fine. And the support ticket did get answered after two days, so I suppose everything is alright. But thanks anyway. I just hope that Xisto will pull itself together. And maybe they should update their servers too, and get rid of all the bugs, so we won't encounter as much problems as we have in all the whole history of Xisto's existence. But thanks anyway...

Paranormal Activity Ever had a paranormal experience?
Nameless_ replied to Thing's topic in General Discussion
Oh really? *prepares for attack* Haha, don't worry. Yes, it is true that paranormal phenomena only happens to people that believe that it is possible to happen. And that is why skeptical people always miss out on all the fun. This is only because skeptical people have already put a block in their minds preventing paranomal phenomena to happen to them. This is basically just the same as a person always getting an E in their test and never an A++ because they don't believe in themselves and they talk themselves down, therefore unconsciously blocking themselves to a path of getting A++ or a higher mark. Have you heard of the "Law of Attraction"? This is basically the same thing. If you think of it often enough, and believe in it often and deep enough, then it will happen. But of course, that doesn't apply to you. Paranormal phenomena only happens to people that believe in it. This is the way it always is. I can't prove it to you, I can't show it to you, because you have to believe in it before I do. Even if I show it to you, you will always find an excuse and an argument to back up on your side. It's the way it always is. Well, you don't break the laws of physics. You appear to. But the human mind has many potentials (and still developing), and there is a lot more to the subconscious mind than what we ever will know. So why not paranormal events like telekinesis, telepathy, and so on and so on? I don't believe in teleportation, but I believe in these basic skills that one have. In fact, as far as I know, everyone has empathy. This is know how someone else is feeling, their emotions and things. You feel their pain. They might be crying, and you know that they are sad, but in technical terms, you are not able to feel their pain. And yet you can. It's a basic part of telepathy. Why not stretch this further to telepathy? Also, I'm sure that you have heard of "gut instincts" and intuition and deva ju. I am the most un-psychic person that you have ever met. I personally never had an experience with deva ju, and I still haven't. And yet I can say that many people out there have, and many people out there also have had an experience with their "gut instincts" and intuition. I know I have. And this is what makes me believe that all this is real, and I am currently writing a paper on the scientific explaination on why this might be so, though of course, as a mere high school student, it is only theoretical, and not solid evidence. But I think that the human brain has many potentials, and I believe that we are able to do what the ancient belief systems on ancient cultures like the chinese and the indonesian people have always believe, that the is a upper conscious in out minds and we can tap into that to give up paranomal experiences. (Which are not, and I repeat NOT, big enough to undermine the power of Jesus or any other religious deity. Hear me out.) -
My Web Portfolio/blog critique and review please
Nameless_ replied to user681's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I agree with that... and I think you took down the basic grunge theme and took the background and worked on it, right? (I couldn't find the name on the internet)... I recognise the background... Argh... if only I could do something like that. But anyway, yes... it does look it little too empty around the sides. You might want to widen the blog area if you can. But for the rest, I actually think that it is pretty good. I don't like the bottom of the template though, where it curves down into a capsule like shape. I personally would prefer it if it is squared down. SO if you could change that that will be great. In my personal opinion, I believe that square shapes are easier to make and code than non-sqaured shapes, so if you can make something like that, then I don't think that that is a problem for you... and that's all, I suppose... Good job!!! -
Emails are very easily hacked, especially if they are common ones like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and etc, etc. So you shouldn't be surprised if you got hacked. Like SpiderVV said, you might just be a random person on this hacker's list, and that he wasn't really targeting you at all, but just want to hack your our of the thrill or the fun or even just experience of it.It's good to have an alternate email, though this means that you will have to convince all your friends to use your new email and update them with the new information of your email being hacked. If you have a popular website and/or you are famous on the internet, especially if you own a blog, then you shouldn't be surprised if you are especially being targeted to get hacked. And if you are, then your webhost or your adsense (or whatever advertising company you use) might send in some crucial information and that account might get hacked too.So if I was you, the first thing should be to check all of that and change the email to your new alternate address. Figuring out how to retrieve your email back comes second. I know that even Google Mail got hacked once, and it was targeting random visitors by only then visiting a specially set up site, and it only works for Google Mail. They insert a filter through into your email account (only if you are already logged into Google Mail), and you won't notice a thing because emails containing certain words will get sent to another email address (the hacker's) and then after that, it will get deleted automatically, and you won't notice anything. If you want to stop this hack, you will have to go to "Filters" in the Settings area and delete the filter that was automatically put there. So, as I said, it is pretty easy to get hacked...But not so easy as to retrieving your email back, especially if the password is changed... so about that...But in your case, I mean, if a random email pops out, then I would just think that it was junk mail. I mean... well, the hacker didn't really access your email account with your password, did they? I personally think that it is just junk mail. And no, I haven't seen the email address before... but changing your password is a good precaution. You should do that often, and password hacks can take an incredibly unbelievable long time, so if you change then periodically, you should have nothing to worry about.

Where To Get Cheap Ipods. Can you get cheap ipods anywhere?
Nameless_ replied to JC05's topic in Science and Technology
If you want a cheap iPod, and not wait for a year at lockerz.com to get it redeem and maybe wait for their stock to refill (*cough cough*) then it really depends on what type of iPod you really want:Fake, or Real?If you want a Fake one, you can easily get it off at somewhere in China. Even if you want a real one, more often than not you will get tricked into buying a fake lookalike so you might want to go for a fake one instead, that usually looks worse, have less memory, easily breakable, but yet very cheap and inexpensive. Of course... that is if you don't put the airplane costs and other travel costs into the bill, assuming that you are currently not living in China. If you want a real one, like people said, redeem it somewhere or get it through prizes, like the points system in your credit card and so on and so on. But that takes a while, even if it is less than a year. So you might want to get a good bargain at second hand shops or something, or even better, just steal if off someone, though I am against theft and I strongly wouldn't recommend this method of getting a cheap iPod. You might end up in jail. (God... why did I type it up in the first place then?)If you want a first hand iPod, then you will need to use your bargaining skills and so your best to beat the price down. (Or get your parents to buy it for you, if you're young enough) I wish you the best in your bargaining quest and your search for a cheap iPod!!! -
Hey people...I don't know whether it is just me or what, I have faith in Xisto and Xisto, and I don't believe that this is the first time the myCENTS system has had a problem and a glitch, but I know that some people are believing that Xisto is failing, and even if they don't want it to, that's what they think. So far, I have encountered two main problems. The first, is as you all know it, the myCENTS not updating problem. The second one is that the support tickets that I have sent in (I have sent in two) has not been replied since two days ago, and I think that it is a very long time. In fact, I was sitting in front of my computer constantly updating the billing and support ticket area waiting for a reply for the whole day yesterday because I thought that they would reply soon, since they haven't already in more than 24 hours. This morning when I woke up I can still see the tickets unreplied, and my problem still unsolved.I have faith in Xisto, and I do hope that they will pull through, but on behalf of everyone in this forum (I still haven't seen a thread on this), has anyone received support from their support tickets that they have submitted? Yesterday I was talking to TheDarkHacker and he too, said that he hasn't received any support since ages... (I don't know precisely when). For all you old members out there, has there been a problem as big as this before? My domain thing has encountered a problem, and they tried cancelling the order, and though I have my refund, the domain is still "registered" with them, though on the "My domains" page it is labelled as "terminated" in red. Any help on that? I can't cancel the order at all.Is it just me, or did the Xisto - Support people go on strike or something?
-
What??? I never knew that. I might use a proxy from now on... But I don't think they'll let me buy a domain in that case. Great, so I can't hide either my address, name or my phone number. Well, I gave real detail for my address. Just not the door number or anything like that. And I put in a fakish phone number because my mum wanted me to, though I might change that. I don't see the difference though. And I gave my name through the buying of the domain name, so that doesn't really matter.Well... OK, that means that it isn't the IP addresses problem, but it is the ISP's problem. And the problem is that I am now overseas, so my ISP will change accordingly to where I am. I will be going back to where I normally live in a week... so my ISP will change in a week... Argh!!! Does that means that even if I provide real information at where I live right now it will be labelled as "fraud: when I go back in a weeks time?Or does it really doesn't matter? What if I don't come to this country for my school holidays the next year when my domain expires? Will the information update by itself accordingly or will it be labelled as fraud again and hence become unusable. God... why did I come here in the first place? I should have done it ages ago or after I go back on the plane.
-
OK, thanks people.Yes, the support was rather fast and efficient (less than one day's time) even when I set it to low, and the person was very nice (for some strange reason it is always the same person replying to my tickets). However, the main problem was this. Apparently the IP address of my computer is not from the same country as I have put down where I live in my account details. Therefore, it is listed as a fraud domain."Status: Fraud"Which is true because I got my computer from another country and then migrated to a new country and am using it there. The thing is that I didn't know that IP addresses of computers have actual addresses from the global map. But anyway, the $10 USD was refunded, my invoice was "said" to be cancelled and I was told to send in a new order but when I tried to again with the address of the other country where I bought my computer from the domain is already said to be registered by me through the Xisto Corporation. So the order wasn't cancelled, though I have my refund back. I don't know what's wrong with the company, but everything seems like a wreck these days with the myCENTS going beserk, though I have to admit that I am the main problem of the whole domain problem thing. But anyway... yeah, the person was very nice so I hope all this will be over and done with soon...
-
Hi people... I have purchased my domain!!! Unfortunately however, I can't seem to park my domain over there... the company says that it is best to get a subdomain first and then link the domain over there so in case my domain expires or something like that, I will have something to fall back on. Their tutorial tells me to add my domain as a new "parked" domain, so I have tried to do that. This was their error message (on cPanel): I know that Xisto is a valid domain registrar, so I don't know what's wrong with anything. Did I do something wrong with nameservers? The transaction of buying the domain went smoothly though. I know that because I can see my newly bought domain in the "My domains" tab and the $10USD deduction in my account. So... I know that it is now registered (by me), but I can't link the domain to my hosting account at all!!! I have sent in a support ticket, but they haven't replied yet so I thought I would start a thread here for help. (I knew something bad would happen - it always does for someone like me).
-
OK, thanks for all that... I'll buy the domain first thing in the morning when I wake up (it is night here) and I will point the nameservers to the default ns.computinghost and ns2.computinghost nameservers, and when I get the hosting package that I will get (a new one), I will link the domain there and send in a support ticket to change the nameservers - and unlocking the domain before hand, of course. Great. Is that right? (I do hope the myCENTS system is up and running soon... I don't like the fact that my domain may possibly not make it through the buying order process due to this myCENTS problem, which may also affect the actual "virtual" cash in my Xisto's billing and support client area and therefore maybe letting me "buy" the domain but not use it for some certain functional problems or something like that.)
-
OK... oops, sorry. I'll make a new topic/thread if you want... But the title DOES have a "domain" on it... and the questions ARE related to domains... Question: Is it possible to park my domain at a place and then redirect it to my hosting account? Because apparently if I use a free subdomain first, then I will have to call for support when I want my main domain to be http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ instead of http://www.myname.hostcompany.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t, and I don't want fuss. But if I order my domain first without the hosting package, then where will I point my name servers? That means that I will also have to contact and send in a support ticket to change the name servers. Isn't there an easier way to do things like that? It's a wonder how people manage to link a top-level domain to their hosting company without any problems...
-
Haha, OK, thanks... and I am assuming that the process of ordering is correct? I don't think anyone say it when I put it in quote, so here it is again: Go to Xisto - Support.com/billing > Log in > Order > Domain Registration (bottom) > Type in Domain > Do something with ID protection and nameservers (I know what they are) > Check order > Check out > Wait for at least 48 hours > Visit site with new domain name!!! And well, ID protection sounds really good... apart from the fact that privacyprotect.org now owns the domain instead of you. But then... why would anyone want to search up this domain name? (Unless they have the same name as me and they want to know where I live, my phone number, etc, etc...) Question: Is it possible to check or uncheck the ID protection anytime during the one year period of ordering the domain name? Well, the main thing is this. Even if I think that I really wouldn't mind if my details are out and about floating on the who is website, I really don't think that my parents will agree letting my do this and all that. Though I am kinda leaning towards and preferring the no ID protection check box, and this domain will not be visited often at all, and I won't be putting the link everywhere around the web on signatures on forums and things.
-
I am assuming that you are talking about the fact that this "webserver" that you are talking about is a "local webserver"? If that is the case, it would be nice to know what kind of webserver you are using right now. As far as I know, there are three main ones. WAMP, MAMP, and Xampp.I personally use MAMP, because I use a Macintosh computer. And I believe that WAMP is the same as MAMP, apart from the fact that it is used on a Windows server (hence the "M" in MAMP and the "W" in WAMP). If you are using the Xampp program, then I won't be able to help you.If you have downloaded the MAMP/WAMP program successfully, through a tar.gz file or something like that and it is now installed on your computer, when you open up the start page you should be able to find the phpMyAdmin on the default start page. And if you click the link there, you will be taken to it. Let me check my files and folders...As I said, I use the MAMP webserver program, and I haven't had any experience with WAMP or Xampp, so I might be wrong... When you download the program, and unzipped all folders if you have to and you haven't already. In the "bin" folder you should find so phpMyAdmin files. I found two folders related to the phpMyAdmin on my computer, and they are the "phpMyAdminforPHP4" and the phpMyAdminforPHP5". If you do not have these files/folders, then you might have to consider using another program. In my experience, I have initially downloaded the Xampp webserver software program, and there are some files missing in the application, and therefore I couldn't use it. So I am thinking that you might be using Xampp. If Xampp doesn't working for you, try WAMP or MAMP.Also, if you go to bin > mamp (like I said, I use MAMP) you can find the .php script for phpMyAdmin. I hope that helps. I haven't exactly gone through all the files yet, so I don't think that's all there is. But I highly doubt that you are using MAMP, so I'll wait for your reply first...

OK, sorry. I know, I am confusing... I'll take a look at those links of yours. I was searching on the google apps search on the previous link that you gave me and not the actual google site, so I don't know if there is some effect on that. To clear up the confusion, I am buying the domain mainly for the mail service, but I will also be using the hosting service that can accompany it on another webhosting company, merely because they provide much more diskspace and bandwidth for free with no posting required. Question One: What is the promotional code? Can you people that know it PM me or post it up here? What does it do?Questions Two: On the page with the nameservers thing... what exactly is the ID protection? I know it's free and it looks pretty good, but I would like to know what it does exactly. OK, cool, thanks... I'll buy it as soon as you people answer my two trivial questions on ID protection and the promotional code. And say yes to what I think the proccess of buying a domain name is. And no, I wasn't thinking of posting up my email publicly. I was thinking of posting the domain name publicly. Through a link, so I won't be writing it out either. Like the "Personal site" links that you see under some Xisto members. Which is why I will be using a hosting service!!! (I'll suicide if someone takes the domain name.)
-
Question One: Um... what exactly are MX records? Well, I couldn't find anything on the Google apps site at all, so I couldn't really read the information if I couldn't find any in the first place, let alone understanding the technical terms (there wouldn't be technical terms if there wasn't any information in the first place!!!) A thing to clear up: I'm not only looking for the email service. I will be building up a simple website on a CMS platform as well, because as I said before, it is pretty stupid to get your own email address if you don't use the domain name and build a website, especially if it is for free. Which is why I will be linking it to a webhosting service. And I never said I didn't believe that Google provides 500 email addresses. I just said that I didn't have to use so much... Sorry, I didn't understand stuff before, but now I do. Woohoo!!! You get my point!!! I know, right? Yes, I will not be nameless anymore!!! (Though I will still have "Nameless_" as my Xisto/Xisto username) And I will be able to show off with my email address and hopefully my half finished website when I leave. I'm very excited myself. And I'll have to change my profile text thing here on the forums, of course. No, the point is, I'm not going only for the email service, I'll be using the webhosting service too, and I really don't think that 20mb of diskspace and stuff is enough for my site, even if it is very small, and plus, the other webhosting company gives you 10000mb without posting, so why not that one? Plus, if the Xisto Corporation does everything for me, I will not be able to learn and know how to set things up myself (like I did with mail on mac), and I'm pretty sure that I will need to learn that when the time comes. Plus, I am pretty sure that that webhosting company also do things for me, and it is environmentally friendly, because they've got a package that is 100% wind powered. And I love the planet too much to watch it die. And I believe that it is rather easy to set everything up on Google mail as well, so it might not be a problem for me. And the point isn't me running out of myCENTS. I believe that by the time I go and study for my university entrance exams I will pretty much have enough myCENTS to last me the whole entire two years (maybe, maybe not), but I certainly will be hosting more than one site when the time comes, and so... I don't know, we'll see how things go. But as far as I know, Xisto is the only webhosting company that gives you an unlimited webspace and bandwidth hosting package free with posting. So I'm not ditching Xisto anytime soon, and I'll be moving back here when the time comes, if "the time" ever does. And I don't think that losing my domain name will be a problem then because the registrar will still be Xisto - Web Hosting, and I will make plenty of backups for everything. So, can I outline what I am meant to do? So you people can correct me? So I go to Xisto - Support.com/billing > Log in > Order > Domain Registration (bottom) > Type in Domain > Do something with ID protection and nameservers (I know what they are) > Check order and Promotional Code? > Check out > Wait for at least 48 hours > Visit site with new domain name!!! (Correct me if I am wrong.) Question Two: What is the promotional code? Can you people that know it PM me or post it up here? What does it do? Questions Three: On the page with the nameservers thing... what exactly is the ID protection? I know it's free and it looks pretty good, but I would like to know what it does exactly. And that's all (for now).
-
Ah, great!!! Yess!!!The expert has replied!!! :D I'll never get rid of you, will I? I thought you'd be gone for quite a while, and I couldn't find another Drupal expert on Xisto so I thought I might ask the more technical people of the Xisto Corporation here on Xisto. And after going away for a whole day I came back to find out that you have answered!!! (Not to mention that you are the only one too!!! ) You are now officially my new Drupal idol!!! - not that I have had one in the first place. Many Thanks for the reply... I still have to see if things work, as I haven't tried what you've suggested and if they don't I might double post a reply here or create a new thread. (Probably the latter, as I'll break to rules by double posting). I am answering to your reply right after I have read it so I haven't had time to try. Yeah, I thought it has something to do with the Taxonomy module thing, but I didn't exactly know how it works and how to use it, so I've been downloading a lot of the other random modules like tagedelic and all that stuff - anything related to tags and categories, and I didn't even know that the answer was right in front of my from the very start!!! Thanks for the reply, I'll be posting my Drupal help plea threads on both Xisto and Xisto from now on to see if I can catch you.
-
Hi people, this is one of my rare visits onto Xisto. I will try and keep this a short as possible, because I tend to ramble things over and over again and it is getting onto some people's nerves over at our fellow neighbor forum, Xisto. I am a member of the Xisto forum, and I have posted a help thread there, but unfortunately no one in Xisto seems to be using Drupal, and most of them prefers Joomla! So I have come over to ask the more technical forum with more expert webmasters for help. I am currently working on a blog project, and I have decided to work on my local webserver that I have set up on my computer. I have come a long way from being an absolute noob, but I'm still a beginner, so I would really appreciate it if you kept the replies simple and in plain English. :P This is the latest screenshot. As you can see, I have also added some arrows and things where I want to change some settings... One of my main questions (as shown in the screenshot with red arrows pointing towards it) is the categories. For some reason I can't seem to add tags or make categories for my posts. I need to be able to add tags and categories and child categories (they, tags and categories, are two completely different things), so the categories will go into the yellow menu bar, the child categories under in the black sub menu bar, and the tags just right under my posts. Once I can get the categories done then I can work on the other design problems that I am currently facing at the moment (also shown in the screenshot). But anyway, any reply would be great. It just seems to me that Xisto is more active than Xisto, so I'm just asking for any reply that can help me. Even if it's just encouragement. Thanks.
-
OK, sorry for the long post guys... I was just excited by the mere idea of it, that's all. I'll try and keep this post as short as possible, and maybe in my future posts as well... And well, I wasn't thinking of doing that post with myCENTS in my mind... soo... yeah. Sorry. OK... I've been searching for the Google mail service, because I personally prefer and like Google over the other email providers, but I couldn't find anything on it apart from the Google applications page, but that didn't really provide any help for me. But the domain EMAIL forwarding sounds great... though I don't need that, unless it is compulsory, because I will just be accessing my email with well... my email! But if I can access my email from anywhere around the globe with my email address (that is under my domain), then that is what I am looking for. Because as far as I have experimented, I have only linked my current experiment domain/email address to the Mail in Mac (equivalent to the Microsoft Outlook on Windows), and therefore will not be able to access my email from anywhere else around the world other than my own local computer when it has internet connection. Also, I will be making a simple website for myself, because I personally think that it is rather stupid having a something@yourdomain.com email address and not have a website. So yeah... Okay, sorry mahesh2k, I guess I was just being myself and I was actually really excited with the idea of it. And I've got until the end of the year to make it work. (It's the school holidays now). I did go to the Google Apps page that you have provided, but that didn't provide me with any information that I need with the free 100 emails@yourdomain.com that rpgsearchez said that they provides (my hosting company only provides 10 or 50 for free with no posts). The point is just this. I just need an email address that I can just easily access from anywhere and everywhere around the planet where there is an internet connection. If I use something like squirrelmail, horde and that other one, I am assuming that (I haven't used them before) that it is the same as having it on Mail on a Mac or on Outlook on Windows. And this also means that I will not be able to access it anywhere else apart from my own computer. But if I can log onto Google Mail with myusername@myowndomain.com, like what people usually do with myusername@googlemail.com, then that means that I can have easy access to my mail with nearly unlimited space and free hosting service with calenders and such at anywhere and everywhere in the world. And also, I don't get the mail.yourdomain.com that is provided at Google Apps. Does that mean that you don't log in on Gmail but there? I went to a certain site's mail.yourdomain.com and it didn't work. And that site said that it uses Google mail as it's host. And you clarify that for me? (P.S. I won't be using Xisto's email providers because I don't need 500 mail accounts at all. I only need one or two, depending if someone else wants to use my domain - I really doubt that - and I don't even have to use myCENTS on that if I can use Google's email service or the hosting companies service. I will just buy the domain off Xisto.)

Okay, cool, thanks. Yes, I found the public_html folder... but I've now got a problem. How am I supposed to upload it into that and not accidentally into the other folders? Also, quick question: if only the public_html works and lets people see things online, then what is the whole point of the other folders in the first place since I won't be using them at all?(I mean, isn't it better to put the not public files like experiments and things on your computer for easy access and not waste the space that is given to you by the hosting company?)(Still trying to download Cyberduck FTP...)

Yeah... I agree with you on that point. I agree that governments should ban things like THAT, especially child pornography and all that... and to me, warez and virus and hacking/other criminal activity sites come second. It's just horrible... the things they do to children. Why don't they think about it for a moment and think how THEY would feel if they were abused as children. I'm sure they wouldn't like it, unless their minds are so warped in this enjoyment of child rape and abuse that they would imagine themselves liking it... People these days, they make me really sick. China really ought to think about what they are doing. But what I mean is, OK, so your ISP IS really blocking proxy sites. Why would they do that? What is their purpose in blocking that? I really don't think that there is any purpose or benefit to the ISP company in blocking proxy sites, especially when other ISP companies that are also their competitors unblocks them. I mean, people will actually go to another ISP just because of this whole blocking system. Don't they think about that??? Plus, as people have said, proxies aren't meant to bypass filters and blocks as I have once thought. They are meant to keep people's IP addresses private on the internet because they want privacy. Nothing more. What's wrong with that? Of course, the occasional person will also use it to go on social networking sites like Facebook and mySpace and Bebo, but that doesn't include me (which is strange seeing I am part of the generation that seems to be the drive of this thriving social networking sites), and if I am to use it I will only be using it for accessing Xisto at school, in which I personally consider to be very appropriate and rather educational in my opinion. So, I mean, why would your ISP block proxy sites? Do they also block other porn/warez/virus sites as well? If they don't, then I really don't see the point of blocking proxy sites when there are more important sites to block in the first place. Have you ever considered contacting the company by phone and asking them about it?

Template Under Construction under construction
Nameless_ replied to Baniboy's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Aw... what? Why didn't I see this thread earlier? I'd be spamming this thread with "Congratulations!!!" in big capital letters. But anyway...I just can't believe you made the whole thing yourself!!! Wow!!! You must be pro. I just take a good template off the internet and work from there. But wow... so, are you going to use that on Drupal, Joomla or Wordpress? Or are you just going to do everything yourself? Then that will be REALLY cool... but I'm not helping your with anything, Am I? I'll have to give you some constructive comments...(About your first post... are you implying that I spam the forum too much with my "Help on Drupal!!!" threads?) - Just joking... :POK, here goes the constructive criticism comments:I do believe that there is too much blue... maybe you can mix it with some other colour apart from blue and white? I don't know, you can just add a colour that complements with the light blue that you have chosen. I just think that that is a bit too much blue, that's all... and it just maybe degrades the site down a bit. It does look a bit homemade (not that I can make anything near or like that myself in the first place...).Um... I agree with someone that posted on this thread earlier... the text IS a little too big. And some graphics might be good as well... You made your website actually look like a blog template, so I'm implying that you will be using that as a blog? If not, you might want to change that too...I suggest you to go online and look at different blog templates to get some ideas for your own template, because currently it looks just a little and a slightly too plain and simple in my opinion.I'm trying to be honest with you, because I would like it if I receive more criticism than praises when I make my own thread like this... The buttons are a little too big and plain too, so you might want to look into that. I have no suggestions for the logo though, because you can only successfully see your logo after you have finished the template of your site. Because what I've found is that your logo actually changes as you change your template so that it suits your site, and I have actually already made many different versions of the same logo for my blog as I experimented with different templates, so I can't tell you anything about the logo right now, apart that it looks very good and it suits your site...And that's it for now, I guess. You might also want to put those meta block thingys under the main content of your site, which is currently what I am trying to do right now without any success. And that's all, I guess. I hope my post has helped you... I like giving constructive comments, though most of the time, if not all, the website that I am reviewing is always better than anything that I can ever hope to make. Including yours... You're really pro to me. I hope that that will change soon though, and that I will be able to be good enough to make my own template, or at least customise the template to whatever I want it to look like, and not what my limitations allow me to change. And so far I've only been able to correct some minor typo errors, which is pretty lame and stupid. But anyway... keep up the good work and keep us updated with the progress of your site for more comments!!! I like it. -
Hi people... OK, this is a step back from my current Drupal project at the moment, and this is a thread that is completely Drupal free at the moment, so you guys can truly help me... and don't worry, it's just about general stuff, so I believe that most of you will know the answers to this already... So let me tell you a secret that no one in the public world knows yet... I'm changing schools!!! Shh... ... keep it quiet!!! "So what's the big deal?" You might ask. "I don't even know you!!!" WELL, The big deal is, well, I have found out that my the domain of my name is currently free!!! And I don't know how long it will be free for, and I intend to buy this domain in the next two weeks... before it is take away!!! I know a few people with the same name (and surname!) as me... And you know the other host that I was talking about just a few weeks before? Well, they provide a mail service (I don't know if Xisto does), but anyway, I thought that it will be a great thing to show off my new email address with a username@myownname.com when I get everyone's contacts and it's be also a great time to show off, though that's not the main point. And so I was thinking of buying a domain name at Xisto, link it to the absolutely free hosting service on the other company and take advantage of their email service. I have currently tried it with my sub domain email address, and it worked!!! I actually linked it onto the Mac type (Mail) of the Outlook program that you usually find on a Windows server, and it actually worked fine. SO the problem is, OK, let's say that I have ordered my domain name at Xisto.com. How long does it take for the order to get processed before I can link it to my "site" at my other hosting company. Also, how do I link it on? I mean, if everyone can just type in a random domain name, then it would be easy to steal someone else's domain name. If I can get the two things to work (both the domain name with all my rights and the linkage to my "site" with the domain name tagged on), then I will be fine... I'm just using the email service, and probably just set up a simple website. Because I personally know that if my friend's email address was something like username@theirownname.com then I'd be rather curious to see what theirownname.com is. So I'll probably set up a simple blog or something like that. I mean, it's so cool, showing off your email like that, and I'll never have to use something@gmail.com or something like that. Of course, that means that I'll have to leave the documents and calenders and stuff, but I personally think that it's worth it. Of course as well, if I can just link that email and redirect it to gmail that's be even better, but I just need to get the email (and the domain name) working too... So what's the big deal for you? Well, the BIG DEAL is, if everything works fine and I manage to start a very basic and a very simple website, then I will NO LONGER BE NAMELESS!!! Yes, so you'll know my real name because I'll be putting a link through it in my signature, and who has ever heard of a nameless person being not nameless? Haha...

Hmm... OK, thanks. I've started a thread on Xisto, but I've still yet have to create an account of Drupal.org and start posting my questions on there. Things have started to become a little more complicated now that I've found another new theme and I want to implement some features on both themes together to create a new unique theme, and I also want to have some javascript functions in it to make things slightly more interactive and interesting. I'll still have to download Cyberduck FTP, though I am assuming that it will be good as all pure Mac applications are, like MAMP, and pure Mac applications are great because all the tutorials are done on a Macintosh computer (well, duh!!!), but I like it... but I've just got a general question to ask you guys... if you wanted to upload a folder, Joomla! or otherwise (aka Drupal and/or Wordpress), in which folder should you upload it to, because there's a root folder, a private folder, a public folder, etc, etc and I don't know which one to upload it onto... Thanks though. You guys are great at helping me!!!
