Windows by default cannot read Linux partitions; however, i made my Windows system capable of doing so by installing FS-driver. Though, whether or not Windows should write to such a formatted partition is debatable.[hr=noshade] [/hr] My current Linux Distro is installed on a 13gig HDD, and i've already wasted over 6gigs of it. If you're planning on using Windows for just games, then you should be fine with 12gigs. If you're planning on installing Linux on the same HDD that Windows is on, make sure you defrag your Windows partition a lot, 'cause you'll have to resize your partition. Resizing the partition can have you lose some data, that's why you want to bring all the files to the "front" by defragging.

If i'm not mistaken, the Opera browser has its own widget that can make fractels as well, similar to this one i saw on SourceForge but it's really hard on the CPU. The fractals are different in appearance, however, when compared to Apophysis.

Usually all you have to do is hit "Next" during the installation and it'll partition everything for you (root partiton and swap)! The installation will also check to see if you have any other operating systems installed, and during start-up you can choose which one you would like to boot. You can do all of this in Linux, some of which you can do better and more efficiently in Linux—IM'ing (Pidgin, Kopete), Music (Amarok, XMMS, etc), Coding (Kate, Gedit, etc), Internet Surfing (Firefox, Opera, Konqueror, etc), Gaming (WINE, Cedega, or Linux-only games). You can install Windows XP through Linux using VMWare, but i'd recommend a dual-core processor if you choose to do so. Most of what you need comes pre-installed in Linux. And you don't really have to worry about viruses in Linux, since people mostly attack Windows , but you can still install a virus scanner if you want. If you want a firewall for Linux, i'd recommend Firestarter—i blocked my own self with it! [hr=noshade] [/hr]But, yeah, i'd recommend Ubuntu as well.

There are so many companies out there that can cure world hunger. Imagine what they can do if they joined together to make this wolrd a better place! Techniqually, many, if not most, are evil to an extent; some worse than others. Some of the judgment you'll find in this topic , if not most or all, is based on the current knowledge the person has of companies and how it has affected them; for if you don't know about one (which could be worse than the company you say is the worst), you can't claim otherwise. Likewise in my decision. I know it requires more manual work in the GIMP to create things, but i consider that somewhat of an advantage over Photoshop users. You're good in sigs and in small designs. Templates you're okay in, likewise for logos and similar somewhat-big designs. The orb and Firefox design could use more creativity; the orb one, a bit more blending, too. What would get my vote is a bit more creativity from things besides sigs. And, like sylenzednuke said, you have really improved.

A person, if devoted enough to something, can (and will) refrain from doing something while at the same time be capable of living a good life. Now, for homosexual marriage: They should not be allowed. Before i am addressed on this matter, allow me to explain myself on why it shouldn't be allowed. I state this not insomuch because i'm against homosexuality, but because it goes against the faith and Will of God which the church holds and upholds, or is supposed to uphold. For this very reason—so that the church members and leaders not go against their own faith (which is sin)—homosexual marriages should not be committed. I believe people would not have (much) trouble agreeing with me here. Now, on defining what is wrong and what is right: There are plenty of ways of doing this: Does it affect others in a bad way? What is the long-term outcome of such an action? Will it promote something that is deemed as something that does not benefit someone (whether the person itself or others) or will it promote something that benefits people (as a whole)? Is it painful to oneself or others? Etc... Answering these questions may involve bringing in religious beliefs. The long-term affect may be the judge over things that at first seem like an okay thing, but in the end it really isn't (e.g. self-indulgence). However, due to the fact that i am limited in my thinking, there are some factors, i'm sure, that may deem certain questions or judgements unreliable. But this is where discussion comes in. So despite what the bible says about slavery, the United States of America finds it illegal to own slaves, clearly going against what the bible says about it. And there is also: Deuteronomy 15:12-18 which describes the Exodus one even better. There are plenty more commands in the Bible that are in favor of the servant. The Adobe Photoshop page gives you a preview of some of the new features/enhancements. However, it may be better to download the trial and compare and contrast yourself. It seems CS3, according the site, has better performance; i'd get it just for the better performance. The new features/enhancements shown on that page look pretty interesting, but it's not enough to make me wanna consider purchasing CS3 or upgrading to it (although that advanced vanishing point feature looks nice). But, yeah, get the trial and try it out.

It has, a long time ago. If you don't believe me or that video , you may install it yourself. In fact, more people are starting to switch over to Linux because it is becoming more and more user-friendly. Truth is, my Linux OS is more customizable than Windows, especially since almost everything in it is open-source, so i can edit the code and make programs more to my liking.

Heh, yeah, i think shipping over seas might bring the S&H over $10. As for buying a new motherboard and its compatibility with other hardware: check the motherboard-that-you're-planning-on-buying's specs and see if they meet up with your current socket for the processor; same for RAM, check out the speed (e.g. DDR2 800, 667, etc). When replacing the motherboard, the processor and RAM tends to become incompatible, unless you purchase one that supports your current RAM and processor; everything else basically stays the same. Well, if you want oustanding performance for games, then you'll probably have to buy GFX cards that are over $200, but the one you listed here (according to some of the reviews) isn't all that bad for gaming.

Dude, your current system specs is a bit better than mine (and i'm running KDE!), so of course you should be able to run Ubuntu with no problem! :)As for new hardware costs: a new good motherboard will cost about, if not over, $100; processor (depending if it's dual-core or not), since it's AMD, probably over $150 (assuming you want something faster than what you have); RAM for 1gig maybe around $70; video card about maybe as much as the processor for an average one. Recommend Newegg for all your computer needs.

Windows Vista Aero vs Linux Ubuntu Beryl Came across this video to check out how Beryl is, and it's just amazing! Blew me away. I am so gonna install Beryl when i'm done building my computer! And to think, Beryl came out first before Vista. You might notice a similarity with Macs in Beryl, but it's basically only in the QuickLaunch bar. Anywho, for those who are new to Linux or haven't seen Beryl in action, prepare to be blown away!

I'd recommend SuperKaramba for CPU monitoring (just 'cause it looks better) and gDesklets for Weather (just 'cause the one i found actually supported my city ). Oh, and if you want more eye-candy, and if your computer supports 3D acceleration, download and install Beryl.

This problem is usually caused by the importing of the CSS—it's happened to me a lot. You can do two of the following to try and fix this: Don't import the CSS. Have a PHP script detect which browser is being used, then replace that area with a JavaScript mouseover effect. That's how i solved it.

I see that all the time with S_M in my profile's friends section. I just thought it was 'cause of his post count, but i can see it's not 'cause of that. But, yeah, it's not that big of a deal, and figuring out the reason why that is is best left to the programmers of this forum script.

Source Microsoft claims that Linux, the free operating system, is violating over 200 of their patents. This is the silliest thing. If Microsoft wins, Linux may no longer exist. Open-source software as we know it will no longer exist. This is the silliest thing i have ever seen Microsoft try to do—i can't stress this enough. I believe in open-source. Some people, even though there may be an open-source alternative, will still choose to buy commercial software, so there shouldn't be a problem. As far as i'm concerned, Microsoft is just money hungry. I, for one, don't see Windows winning this; there are many open-source supporters out there that i'm sure will support Linux. Microsoft is already a huge company, but i guess the rich just wanna get richer...

The part about writing to a file and retrieving the information for later use and modifying the information is easy. The hard part is getting the forum script to work with it. I don't know my way around the SMF scripting or any other forum scripting. If having the forum script work with your script is a necessity, then i would suggest posting this in the support forum on the site of the makers of the forum.

It is not mathematically proven that .9-repeating equals 1. They tell you to round it off, which would equal 1. The only reason they tell you to round it off is so you won't have to write the number down. I think you messed up somewhere in your equation... Like [1], don't you divide here instead of multiplying? Do the opposite?

This is from a faint memory, but back in elementary school, one of my teachers had their own little frog set-up in the class. He had the tank seem like a small forest kind of thing—very interesting. It had it's own "lake" which the frog could go to whenever it wanted to be in the water. It had soil in it which the frog could be on when it didn't wanna be in the water. Surprisingly enough, it had it's own "trees" (i.e. small plants that made the tank look like a small forest). And sometimes the teacher let us catch crickets outside (it was during a season of crickets, if you will). The ones we caught, we let loose in the tank for the frog to eat. Anyways, what i'm trying to imply is that this set-up could help you in maintaining a(n) (adult) frog.

It may not be freeware, but the programmers say it'll never be for Mac or Linux; though i could really use it for Linux... However, although it is not freeware, the demo allows you to export the songs you made, you just can't save. Anywho, the program is called FruityLoops. One of the best (although, in my opinion, it is the best) music-making programs out there! Also, you're not allowed to sell the songs you make with the program without their license.
