  1. Wow. I wake up and already this topic is hot. I'll only address whatever is against my religion, though. How does that prove it is His master plan? Can He be blamed for the foolishness of people? Are you in hell now (speaking in a literal sense)? You said that we are created to go to hell—is God's foreknowledge all you have to lean on? How does that prove it? If we were created for hell, we would already be in hell. Although you say "not always," it would be unreasonable to mention the context of it if i weren't committing such an act. So why the presupposition? You're being unreasonable in your posts and are committing logical fallacies (i'm inclined to say that you're appealing to probability). But this is irrelevant to what we've been discussing. This is, also, irrelevant to your previous question. You asked why He put it there. We already know that it is there—no need to mention it. [1]You're assuming a perfect being can't have emotions.[2]Interesting emphasis, as humans can't create things. [3]Obviously, why on earth would going all out on just a stove make sense? (Though, the scenario i find slightly funny.) However, how does this prove that perfect beings don't have emotions? Just 'cause an imperfect being has emotions doesn't mean that a perfect being cannot have emotions. You have to start thinking critically outside of Youtube videos. The perfect being would just know how to handle their emotions—to use them at the right time. Now you're changing things around. By asking questions relating to our imperfections, you are in turn saying that God was created in man's image—this is obviously false. Also, the books found in the Bible were written within a period of several thousand years. No mere 4 men alone can write all of it.[1]Now you're assuming that the theory of evolution is true. [2]Now you're back to reversing things again. [3]If you believed in science, you would already be believing in the Bible. There are hundreds of statements in the Bible that science has shown to be true (you can find a great deal of them in this one topic that was start a long time ago). How can documents dating several thousand years ago be ahead of science? Think about that. (We already discussed that you're assuming a perfect being can't have emotions, so i'll skip that.) I can know the future and still have emotions. In fact, bearing knowledge is what brings emotions (Ecclesiastes 1:18). But if you haven't noticed, your stove analogy says that you knew you would get burned, and after getting burned you went on a rampage and got friends to help you eliminate the stove. So, although you had foreknowledge, emotions still came along with. I think you should consider a different analogy.
  2. See? Not so big anymore. Anyway, what's this with the use of the word "imperial"? Does it denote size or quality?
  3. I did visit the site, as me quoting an excerpt from their FAQs in my previous post proves it, but i would still use the word "spam" because that's what it is: that which is repetitive.
  4. It's not His master plan to send people to hell. But the answer to your question can be easily found in the following verses: Proverbs 10:16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 21:8. Also, when you die you are not immediately sent to hell. He doesn't create a person to go to hell: the sinless cannot be sent to hell. The question bears a presupposition and therefore cannot be answered (properly) until you provide more information. There is no Biblical statement stating why He created the Tree of Knowledge. Therefore, any answer is mere speculation and conjecture. However, you may want to ask Him why.
  5. Nice, not bad. Only thing that i see could use some work is the text. The current border is only good for really dark backgrounds, it doesn't look that great on this forum's background. 6.9 out of 10 from me.
  6. A lot of people that complain about gas prices are those that "floor it." You can always trade in the car you purchased for a newer one. You don't need a car to succeed in life. Also, many people take public transportation to work. You say you're turning 17 soon and that you're planning on buying a car. I don't think you currently need to be worrying about gas prices or getting a car for that matter. Eh, it only looks big if you convert the money.
  7. I watched it, i also watched some others. He's not worth the time—not even a challenge to faith; i view and read up on stuff like this all the time just for the challenge; i find theists more challenging than atheists. The person in the video provides a lot of illogical arguments. Maybe your faith in it is due to lack of knowledge in other areas—this is usually the case. You see it many times: one person is confronted with one form of knowledge before being confronted with the actual truth or other, more accurate knowledge, therefore the person rejects or denies other information pertaining to the same subject and in an unreasonable way, too. I've been guilty of such in the past, but i've learned my lesson and try to be reasonable wherever possible.
  8. Quick question to the both of you: Where are these verses? To sweet_princess, for i lack this knowledge and have searched the Qur'an but couldn't find it, so either i somehow missed it or it's in the Hadiths somewhere. To amirborna, for there is no such verse in the Bible as you will figure out after searching for it.
  9. "It"—you have a lot of "it"s in your post. Most seem to be referencing the validator. If so, what validator are you using to try and validate your file(s) with?
  10. Line 195 would be: echo('<fieldset><legend>'.$user[username].''s Profile</legend>You forgot to escape the single quote before the letter S. It should be: echo('<fieldset><legend>'.$user[username].'\'s Profile</legend>
  11. Actually, the stable version was released a long time ago. Currently the latest stable is 4.0.4. I haven't been using it, though—i'm waiting for 4.1 stable, because i don't wanna compile KDE4 on my own; i tried compiling KDE3 in Zenwalk once, that was a mess.
  12. I'll let krazygoddess respond to this. Indeed, mikeyboy63, the drug dealers don't tax people. The case that people will stop going to drug dealers on the streets fails. Due to the legalization of marijuana, drug dealers will stop hiding and place camp out in the public where every man, woman and child can see. The image given out by these drug dealers will send a message to little children as they grow if the message isn't prevented by the parents from reaching their children (consider how responsible a lot of parents are now-a-days!). Even if these drug dealers were forced to tax their "products," they'll only be competition to any established marijuana facilities and these drug dealers will just lower their prices a bit—it'll be a whole new market. Interesting excerpt: The thing about people and doctors is that people don't know what's considered a safe amount. And the thing about educating the public is about reducing an event from re-occuring, not to promote it.
  13. The fog effect isn't that bad, just dim it down a bit. But, yeah, it definitely needs a border. 4 out of 10.
  14. Excellent; finally the PC version is catching up. Hopefully there will be more servers without punkbuster enabled on v1.6—it's the only thing that prevents me from updating my CoD4 game. But what's this balancing weapons thing?
  15. When you log into C-panel, under the section "Files," click on "File Manager." Anything you want people to have access to belongs in the "public_html" directory.
  16. As shown with Firefox 2, Mozilla has a way of keeping track of downloads. Therefore, there's no need to post "Look! I've downloaded Firefox!" and spam Mozilla with screenshots. By the way, how can you pledge to download something on a specific day if you don't even know what day it is on? Are you going to be home all day, every day in June with Firefox open, waiting for Firefox to tell you a new update is available? Mozilla must be quite confident in their servers, though.
  17. Normally, if you want someone to view the source code of a PHP file, you just end the PHP file with the extension "phps". Most Apache configurations have it set up like that. It's not necessarily PHP's configuration that deals with the scenario you're talking about, it could just be how the server has its extensions set up. Another reason why a PHP file would output its source code is when PHP itself is not installed.
  18. If you get a Linux LiveCD and install HFS+ support (if not already installed) and you know the location of the device from the Linux environment, you can manually mount the hard drive and take whatever you need from it: CONSOLE # mkdir /mnt/mac# mount -t hfsplus /dev/sda1 /mnt/macNote: "#" signifies a terminal prompt. "/dev/sda1" is the what-would-be path to the hard drive; replace with the actual path.Second note: be sure to copy any files to another hard drive and not into the LiveCD environment.
  19. Firefox is slightly faster at rendering pages than Opera (not all that much faster, though), but if even Opera, one of the fastest browsers out there, is appearing slow to you, then even Firefox may not be something useful to you. Like Kobra500 said, it could be that you don't have a sufficient amount of RAM to run Vista smoothly. You can make Windows XP look like Vista; though, you may not be able to get transparent panels and a transparent window manager. Or you can load up a popular Linux distro and run Compiz Fusion with Emerald, and you'll get more than what Vista can offer.
  20. I've stopped watching T.V. a long time ago—it makes me feel like my brain cells are dying. The only news i get is anything i run into when working on my personal projects, news found here at Xisto, or else where. I don't keep much track with the "outside" world. Does Canada have immigration problems?
  21. If all you want to do is eliminate dots found specifically inbetween the letters "c", "a" and "t", then the following should work: $patterns = "/c\.{2,}a\.{2,}t/";$replace = "cat";echo preg_replace($patterns, $replace, 'c.....a.........t');Anything else would require a more complex pattern.
  22. You might find the Book of Psalms to be uplifting. Break ups are never easy, and though there may be no easy way out, there is always a way out. Friends can be quite uplifting, too.
  23. [1] Find me one verse that says to worship Him, or face eternal condemnation.[2] Who says He didn't? [3] What does God have to worry about? [4] The meaning of life is for us to experience God the way He wanted us to—and that can be in many ways. (You could easily obtain this fact from Genesis with a little Bible study.) [5] ! Did you forget He's God, the Most High (i.e. the highest authority to ever exist), the One that gave you life? [6:1] What does nothing output except nothing? Also, that which comes to an end cannot always exist. [6:2] And what are these things? [6:3] By admitting that death will come to them? (Which they have.) [6:4] Science can never prove how matter came into existence—it's all faith. Also, any attempt to explain it may mean excluding a certain point in time, which ruins the whole purpose of even trying to explain it. One more thing: The Bible makes many statements that which science later verified as true. Therefore, they were fully capable of explaining things correctly without science (indeed, they had God). P.S. Excluding my response in #5, no emotions were attached to anything i said above.
  24. Extra panel options will be out with KDE 4.1 (last i checked). Until then, you'll have to manually edit the Plasma configuration. In order to do so, you must first kill Plasma, or else your modifications will be overwritten. I've seen screenshots where people managed to shorten their panel's width (the ones with the K menu in the middle), but i'm not sure if they're real or not. Indeed KDE4 is a work of art—i love all of the wallpapers—but KDE3 currently defeats it in configuration. I love the fact that it loads up faster than KDE3, too. You can try out KDE4.1 beta if you want. Not sure if it's in Ubuntu's repository, but you can compile it yourself if you want. If i could, i would just have the panel floating around with the widgets i want, but i can't find any good documentation on Plasma.
  25. From where are your sources? Hell is a fiery place as indicated by the following verses: Luke 16:19-31; Revelation 20:15. It is true that you are not tortured by demons and evil spiritual beings (that would be silly; demons have to be punished too! Revelation 20:10), but you are tortured by the angels that were assigned by God. And, yes, you will be given unbearable tasks for each sin you've committed along with the punishment given by the angels, but it's not for the sake of learning as you say. According to the information provided for the Last Day in the Bible, that is when you are confronted with everything you've done and told what exactly it is you did wrong, not in hell. Hell is not a place for learning through punishment—you had all the time to learn in your previous life. "Learning" here implies something similar to purgatory—the verses used for proof for purgatory can be taken more than one way, therefore making it uncertain on whether purgatory is true or not. Also, people in hell will just be increasing in hatred towards God because of their infliction, as implied by "gnashing of teeth." Also, it should be obvious that by just being marked for hell is more than enough proof that you've committed grievous sins in your previous life. That doesn't do away with reincarnation, it could just be that you assumed something about reincarnation that isn't true. Though, i do wonder what would happen to the spirits that are still on the lowest level (which should be a good majority of the population) when this universe goes "poof!" [1] You should consider researching more.[2] If you believe in it, then it's not a concept. [3] There are two reasons on why a person is not born perfect: 1. God saw His creation to be (very) good (Genesis 1:31), not perfect. 2. As you say, people are born into a world of sin; we're not born bearing sin but into a sinful world. You quote me, but i'm not sure if you're explaining what "born again" means to me or to the topic starter. Could you clarify?
