Do You Think Popups Are A Bad Thing? www.bpsite.tk
truefusion replied to alexwhin's topic in Online Advertising
Pop-ups themselves aren't bad. It's really what's in the pop-ups which is the deciding factor; it's not the pop-up or pop-under window that gives you viruses. If a pop-up or pop-under is forcing someone to view an adertisement, then so is an advertisement that is embedded in a page. Sure, i find them to be annoying and intrusive, but finding a pop-up or pop-under annoying and intrusive isn't a valid reason to call it bad. However, it not being bad doesn't make it good. If you like the website, quite possibly you'll return regardless of its annoyances. -

Can Anyone Recommend Me An All In One Printer?
truefusion replied to darran's topic in Hardware Workshop
I have a Brother MFC-3360c. It can do everything you're asking for, and for under $100. The one i have i've owned for over a month and hasn't failed me yet, so it seems reliable enough to be recommending. The website also provides drivers for Linux, thankfully. I got the printer part to work under Linux; the scanner part i still need to get to work (xsane doesn't seem to be picking up the machine even though i see it on the list...). You can find Mac and Vista drivers at their site, too. -
If you want to execute a string as if it were PHP code, consider researching eval. Just be careful with this function, as you wouldn't want user input to be ran as PHP code, so you may need to properly verify the string before running eval. BTW, you can't include files the way you want them to be included; that is, assigning _GET variables.

My Sig My collection of sigs...
truefusion replied to the need for speed's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Looks like they were made in Photoshop—correct me if i'm wrong. The big images are more considered banners, not sigs. Consider using smaller sizes for your signatures. Also, you may obtain better results if the stock image or render fills up at least 45% of the sig. Text becomes easier to work with if you pick a somewhat dark area to place them in. Also consider using different styles for text, looking up some sig tutorials, et cetera. -
I use Geany for all of my coding needs. It's an open-source program and it's available for Windows as well. I love the fact that i don't have to constantly look at the PHP manual to figure out what a PHP function needs (in case i forget). When i start typing out the function, a little tooltip pops up showing the syntax of that function. It also remembers the names of custom functions, variables, etc, and shows it in a pop-up dropdown list for you to choose from—big time saver. The fact that it's lightweight is a big plus for slow and old computers.

Try making a temporary empty folder in public_html, and copy "hitcounter.txt" and "counter.php" into that folder. Then modify "counter.php" located in that folder if need be, and run the file "counter.php" that's located in this newly created folder in your browser. Tell me if it still outputs that error.

Link Image Css Bug In Firefox Can anyone help me?
truefusion replied to darran's topic in Programming
I've had this problem before when making my gallery script. This "extra border" is really the anchor element that's surrounding the image element. Since the anchor element is a inline-level element, it doesn't stretch to go around the image which is block-level. The easiest way to fix it is to remove the style which you attached to all anchors in the parent element. Another way is to make these anchor elements block-level with a predifined height and width, and probably just set the image as a background to these specific anchors. You could probably also force everyone to upgrade their Firefox to version 3. I'm not sure of any other ways to try and solve this problem. -
I don't see "beauty stuff" as something that's hard, especially if you realize there's no need for make-up. But similar to what the need for speed wrote: teach self control, and perhaps even try to slip in a few self control tips in your "beauty" articles, which appear relative but is really for things that can apply in general.

How do you know it's your username and not the password you're using? If you have ten credits, you can reset your C-panel password here: https://support.xisto.com/
-
Currently, your C-panel username is different than that of your forum username. I'm not sure if you used the same password for the c-panel as you did for the Xisto forums, but if you did, then, yes, you would use that password. It seems that you're in the hosted group, so the activation process must have gone well.

I saw the video, and found some parts funny (for both sides, mind you). I noticed the video didn't take the time to prove that the conditions of the earth were as they depicted. What they did is take the time to set the stage for their argument—this is what makes their argument appear possible, and therefore logical. If we accept this premise, then we are most likely sure to accept anything following it. What the video tries to do is prove that abiogenesis can happen given the proper conditions, without divine intervention. This is true in theory, but what about in practice? Scientists have taken the time to create similar conditions that were supposedly present when the earth was in its "primitive form" in order to prove that the statements made in this video really did happen. (This is usually referenced to "The Primordial Soup Theory.") However, although they did manage to make something that, if more components were added, could indeed cause life to form, it didn't last long enough to even get a chance to "find" these other components to merge with. In fact—it died instantly. You may read more here: Abiogenesis#Early_conditions. Also, there were many other attempts to try and prove that abiogenesis is possible through "natural" means, but all attempts have failed. You may see all failed attempts here: Abiogenesis#Current_models. So far, biogenesis remains king. Given all of these attempts, it makes it clear that the only possible way abiogenesis can even happen is if God were to intervene and cause a miracle to happen; however, science cannot make this claim. So where does God need to intervene, as the video asks? He would have to intervene in each step of the way. The video takes up the assumption that God was not the one that caused these things to mold together, if indeed they did mold, that is. Genesis says that we came from dust, do you really think dust will just walk up and form a man on its own? (Yes, the dust to man thing appears to be a Biblical mention of abiogenesis—but that's why i said it requires a miracle, that God must intervene.) To add more, i've read all the laws of thermodynamics—i've even read the text provided in the video, and i'm here left wondering why it doesn't contradict the laws of thermodynamics. The earth is considered an open system because it obtains its energy from the sun. According to the laws of thermodynamics, an open system will eventually lead to chaos (not the original form of "chaos," that is, destruction, but more of randomness, disorder). The keyword in the video here is "polymerise." If you read the current models which i provided a link to, you will find this word, "polymer," et cetera, plenty of times. I cannot believe that something, according to the theory of evolution, would eventually end up becoming more complex in an open system. Also, the video implies that the "evidence" only gives way to the theory of evolution. But it seems to not realize that all "evidence" is subject to interpretation. I am not ignorant of anything the video has given—it brings nothing new to the table. If you expect me or any other believer of God to admit that the theory of evolution is true or "so widely proven and supported by evidence beyond a doubt," you're going to have to do better than this. But here's a suggestion: bring something new to the table, especially something that is proven and not refuted; good luck on that. I'm quite surprised that colleges are still teaching this stuff. I see you are ignorant of all the statements in the Bible that has been proven by science. Consider reading the Book of Job—it contains a lot.

I think it may have to do with the fact that open_basedir is enabled in Xisto. I'm not entirely sure why this is happening to you, since fopen works for me, but try changing the file path from "hitcounter.txt" to "./hitcounter.txt".

There's one option yet to be mentioned, and it's a feature that comes with Ubuntu 8.04 known as "umenu:" the Wubi installer is now available in the Ubuntu 8.04 CD by default. If you pop the CD into the drive when running Windows, a dialog box will pop up and ask you if you want to restart the computer and use the LiveCD environment, or if you would like to install Ubuntu on your Windows installation (it won't erase your Windows installation).

Try the following and see if it works: <div class="topbar">There have been <?php include ("counter.php"); ?> hits.<br><?php// Look in the USERGUIDE.html for more infoif ($qls->user_info['username'] != ''){echo "Welcome back, ".$qls->user_info['username'].". Click <a href=\"http://say-help.trap17.com/login/logout.php\">here</a> to logout.<br><br>Click <a href=\"#contactinfo\">here</a> to view your contact information.<br><a href=\"#membersonline\">Click here to view the current members online.</a>";}else {echo "Welcome back, please click <a href=\"http://say-help.trap17.com/login/login.php\">here</a> to Login, or <a href=\"http://say-help.trap17.com/login/register.php/\">here</a> to Register.";}?>
-
That's odd. But it seems like you tried to "short cut" the code; i'm not entirely sure, since i can't see the rest of the code. But rather than placing the PHP ending tag after the left curly bracket, try something like this: {echo "Welcome back, ".$qls->user_info['username'];}?>(assuming there's no else.)

Then why do you continue living if there's no point to life? Why try to save lives? Why try to even figure out life? Why even care about science? Why...? Then why does history repeat itself? Then why is science capable of seeing patterns in life? Then why can science make sense of life? You sure science was the one that said life is random?

Why not save the file as index.php and use a PHP include instead? Isn't allow_url_include for remote files? You shouldn't have a problem using the following code for an extension that can process PHP and if the file is located in the same directory: <div class="menu"><?php include "pagelist.html"; ?></div>If i'm not mistaken, on Xisto, index.php has more priority than index.html.

A Hard Question On Islam no disrespecting and such just curious
truefusion replied to jopak134's topic in Health & Fitness
You wouldn't happen to know what verse it's from in the Qur'an, would you? I've heard about this a couple times, but when i searched for it in the Qur'an, i could never find it. That lead me to believe that it is probably found in the Hadiths instead. But i don't know of any online sources for the Hadiths. But if it's in the Hadiths, then whether or not it's true according to Islam is questionable. -
I think it was the fact that Microsoft Windows felt restricting and lacking a lot of features and my low budget (no way am i going to pay over $200 for an operating system!) (Vista was the only thing in the stores at the time). I guess you could say, i got spoiled by KDE and open source software: the eye-candy, the customizability, the stability, security, et cetera. I've been with Ubuntu since, i think, 6.10, and with each new version that comes out, i'm loving it even more (i'm currently running 8.04 beta). The only games i play on my Linux machine are Call of Duty 4 and Warzone2100; only Warzone2100 runs natively, since it became open source (it was one of my favorite RTS games for the Playstation console). If people ever give up on their projects, they should give out the source code to the community, just like the creators of Warzone2100. Don't install DirectX through WINE, that'll ruin WINE's own DirectX immitation DLLs (if any)! In order to have a better chance of playing games through WINE, you must first patch WINE with the 3dmark patch, which you can download at the WINE website. This makes WINE compile its "DirectX" DLLs for use for games. This is how i got Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare, to work. Deny any DirectX installation that comes with your games, or else it'll mess everything up. I remember letting CoD4's DirectX installation go through—i therefore was not able to play CoD4.

Had You Tried Firefox 3 Beta 5? What can you say?
truefusion replied to EngrJayze's topic in The Internet
I've been using Firefox 3, beta 5, here and there, and haven't noticed any crashing or freezing for the time i've been using it. Firefox 3 seems to be the new default browser in Ubuntu 8.04. It does load slightly faster than Firefox 2, and i'm glad that it supports more CSS. But Opera will always be my number one favorite browser. -
Since (not sense) when is working to get into Heaven part of Christianity? Being religious does not mean that we are not allowed to become artists, programmers, musicians, et cetera. You're making assumptions about the Christian life that isn't true. You say you want to live life to the fullest, but you also imply that you are limiting yourself. For a moralistic person would not try to live life to its fullest. You might see worshipping God as a waste of time, but what if people choose to? Who says i can't become a musician and give people a new look at my religion and change the music industry from foolishness to proper morals? Who says i can't become a programmer and make programs for churches, schools, people in general, et cetera? People have many ways of worshipping God. Because of your assumptions, that is why you "know for a fact" that you would not have done what you have done. Regardless, you're making little sense: you keep mentioning that for the religious this life is to work for Heaven. Wouldn't someone who is working for Heaven work harder than you? Do you know how hard it is to get into Heaven through deeds alone? I don't think you've taken the time to look at the religious folk who have been working as "hard" as you say you have or harder. Either that or you are emphasizing far too much on those who don't. Each have their own reason(s) for doing and not doing something, but if they aren't doing anything wrong, why speak against it? But what is the "minimum" to you? Or, perhaps i should say, what is the "maximum" to you? How will you make it appear objective?

Is There Life Anywhere Else On The Universe ?
truefusion replied to red_dragon_here's topic in Science and Technology
The question is: Is faith part of science? Do scientists go around trying to prove what they believe in? As basically many have been saying, they believe that there is life out there besides what is on earth. If scientists are using whatever they can to try and prove such a thing, then they are running off of faith. But will their faith fail them? Of what evidence do we have to know that there is life out there besides what is on planet earth? Sure you can give out a lot of reasoning as to why you believe there is life "out there," but how does that go about in proving that there is life "out there"? It only brings more people to(wards) the faith. The second half means that we know the actual size of the universe and that it's not infinite. Which means it contradicts the first half. So, how big is the universe?
