  1. Notepad++ is really good and of course its free. The best thing about it is the ability to add-on, which is also free. Good luck.
  2. The other one you are probably thinking of is notepad++. The best thing about this program is that its free and so are all of its attachments. Thats what really makes it great. Dreamweaver is probably the best editor out there, but its add-ons have a price. There are other ways to get Dreamweaver, not sure about the add-ons though.
  3. I first started using HTML when I got a job for $40,000.00 at a dot com. They were desperate for coders. I quickly learned on the job. This was way back in 2000 though. Then all the dot coms crashed.Back then we used to use nested tables to deliver what we wanted as far as style. Now there is XHTML and CSS style sheets. I'm just now getting used to those two technologies. Been practicing on a site.
  4. I hate to admit it, but I haven't tried this game. I'm not much of a UFC fan, maybe thats why. I haven't even downloaded the demo. After reading what you wrote, I think i'm going to get it. My favorite fighting game, that is on the realistic side, is Fight Night. So i'm going to go out and get a $60 game based on your review. Thanks!!!! I 'll let you know what I think.
  5. Wow, you replied to a two-year old post. You even generalized the topic. Both a plus in my book. I guess you are looking at games through the eyes of a veteran gamer. Game have changed a lot over the years. Development is a lot more expensive, therefore, games are more expensive. I agree with you that paying a monthly fee sucks, but I wouldn't put Live in the same category as WOW. Live allows you to play all your games online. Although the service could be free, the fact that we do pay for it allows us to demand a good performance. You know probably more than most that when its free, you are basicly assed out if something goes wrong. Now paying $60 for a game is just ridiculous, but thats an argument in itself. I personally have turned to modding my box and getting my games in the same manner.Look at what movies have become. $10 for just 2 hours of entertainment. At least for $60 I can get 100hrs plus out of a game, so it all might just be relevant. If you really love gaming, then maybe its worth the price, after all, we have to a hobby.
  6. To the previous poster, are you serious? Cube? Xbox? Playstation? If you haven't noticed, next gen is here. Xbox360, Playstation 3 and the Wii, just to name a few.Anyhow, Nintendo is great if you like ok games. The wii is basicly a cube with better controls. In a way, its just like what they are doing with the DS. Different versions of the same system. If you like hardcore games, then Xbox360 and Playstation 3 are much better. The games are better, look better and have better online capabilities.
  7. If you are looking for a browser to use on a daily basis and is fully functional and has tremendous support, I would go with FIrefox. Opera has some cool features too though, and I find myself using it more and more.
  8. One quick way to start out is to download and use the Opera web browswer. Its a good browser and also serves as a bit torrent downloader. That way you don't need to download a specific bit torrent download application.
  9. Thanks for the replies so far guys
  10. Sex addiction is very serious and real. This one has been around for years. Am I a sex addict? If I am suppose to answer like an alcoholic, then the answer is yes. I really do feel like a different person now that I'm not though, its like I snapped out of it. Like alcoholism though, one could slip and be right back at it. Any one else out there?
  11. Well if your question is if 2 and 1/2 is too early for your child to attend school on her own and for over 3 hours, then I say yes. But, there are some classes you can take her/him to that will allow you to attend with her/him and participate. ABC's are great but you can start teaching your baby to read already. Check out the videos at https://yourbabycanlearn.com/. My little girl is 3 and read me her first book at 2. The only thing I really like school for, which she will be attending this June, is socialization and interaction with other kids. By the way, her class is only going to be 3 hours long 5 days a week.Good Luck!!
  12. I would have to agree with the previous poster. You need to try a different editor, but even to create the page. Excel is probably adding a lot of things that you don't want. Notepad++ is free to download so don't worry about the cost.
  13. PHP is defiently worth learning. You say that you design websites but I wonder if that includes coding them. That would probably be your warm up to programming. Learn XHTML and CSS very well. Tons of books and websites on this. If you are passed those two, then move on to Javascript. Now you are ready for PHP and MySQL. Hope this works out. By the way, post up some of your sites or your own personal site, I'd love to see your work.
  14. Well the hardest part with any site is getting started. You've done that and some so congrats. You used Joomla and in my opinion that was a great start, but you still need to personalize it a bit. Make it look like you didn't use Joomla, thats the real power behind Joomla. It allows you to customize the shiz out of it. As far as going anywhere, that really depends how passionate you are about it. This is just one forum, you've got to spread the word!
  15. Just wanted to let you guys know that not only are you helping the original poster out, but guys like me that use the information as well. You all added a little bit to the answer which made it a well rounded answer. Thanks again to all of you, including the original poster.
  16. Its a search engine. Not too much to the design. It does its job and thats it, and in that sense its awesome. Believe it or not, I think the best design is http://frankfurt.craigslist.de/. Now that is simple and no images to mess with. As far as load times, since there are no images, its smoking fast. When it comes to popularity, I've even heard it over the news and in movies.
  17. I use to do HTML coding a few years back. Stopped in 2002. I believe CSS was just getting started, or I just hadn't heard about it. Anyway, I'm back in the saddle. My ultimate goal was and now is again to become a computer programmer. I love the web and all of its possibilities and so I thought that the web would be a great avenue to take. I'm going to school and hope that the web stuff I do on the side can get me some money or a foot in the door. I know CSS isn't a programming language, but I was just wondering what you all think. Should I start out with XHTML and CSS or something heavier like PHP?Thanks for your input in advance.
  18. i would love to say that this is nothing but a slap in the hand, at least thats what I'm hoping for. My teeth or so deep into filesharing its not funny. Back when Napster was finished, Limewire popped up, now if the Pirate Bay goes down or other BT sites, I hope others will replace them. Lets cross our fingers my fellow pirates.
  19. Not sure if this is your first website, but if it is, its not bad at all. Now if you've done some in the past, then you need to go back to the basics. First of all, the site is very image heavy. I'm at a local library and it took a long time to fully come in. I will also have to agree with other posters that the color choices seem very poor. It really looks like you put a bunch of things you just found and stuck them together. Again, if this is your first site, not bad at all. What programs are you using or are you handcoding?
  20. I wouldn't say it sucks. As you've read in previous postings, the best part of the PSP is if you have it modded. This opens up the world of the PSP. Not only can you use homebrew games and apps, but you can get games for it, both PSP or old PS1 games. The big question is if its worth its price. If all it did was play PSP games I would say no, but since it does so much more, I have to say yes. Watch movies, surf the net, use Skpe to make calls the list goes on and on.
  21. The guns are an issue. I think we are all over the whole world war 1 and 2 games. It was a great way of getting a lot of different people into the genre and into gaming period. Modern Warfare has set the bar to new limits. I can only imagine what MW2 will bring. The common denominator in both games is the developing company. Its the same guys that brought us COD2. It really feels like the guys over at Infinity Ward know what they are doing. What I'm really looking forward to is playing the next IW game, whatever that is, on the next xbox.
  22. I've been playing games for a long time. My first system was the Atari 2600. The joystick had only one button. The next system I owned was an Intellivision. Pretty cool system, it came with an adaptor that would talk to you and faceplates for the controllers. I then got a collicovision, I think thats how you spell it. This system came packed with donkey kong, need I say more? It then took over 6 yrs for me to by my next system it was the nintendo with the robot and the gun. As awesome as I that that system was, the Sega Master System seemed to have better graphics. I sold my Nintendo and bought it. From there the Sega Genesis came out. The real birth of Madden football. I kept that system for a long time. I even bought the Sega-CD attachment(waste of money). Soon after Genesis, then came Super Nintendo. My favorite game on that system had to be Super Knock Out. Since I felt like I got burnt on the Sega-CD, I skipped the Sega Saturn, good thing I did, the Sony Playstation came out and it rocked. Then the N64 came out. It was a lot of fun, but didn't have all the bells and whistles that Sony had. I then made the jump to PC, it was only system that allowed me to play online, or via modem I should say. I wanted to get back to console, but just could not because the graphics were better on PC. Finally the Sega Dreamcast came out. It had some pretty good games, but I had already formed an attachment to my PC. Playstation 2 came out, but I bypassed it. The graphics were equal to but not better than PC and it didn't have any form of online capabilities at first. I missed out on a lot of good games. I did get a Playstation later, but only when I got it used and modded. Then came the system that changed my life forever. The Xbox was the best console out at the time, but support for it was not that great. Playing Halo over Xlink was the shiz though. That was before Xbox Live came out. I actually skipped Xbox Live on the first Xbox because I had my system modded and banned. I then bought a gamecube, but that was only good for a few games. Resident Evil 4 was one of them. Then came Xbox 360 and I haven't looked back since. I already sold my PS3 (garbage) and my Wii(kid garbage).
  23. On the 360 its all about Live. Getting together with friends is so much easier than either of the other two platforms. It just works better. It used to cost $60 for a year and they brought it down to $40. The more people get on, its possible that the price will be dropped further. The other systems might have free internet access, but I always have problems on PC and PS3. Again that doesn't mean it's all perfect, Gears of War 1 and 2 suck online.Just an opinion.
  24. Actionscript really deserves its own topic. Its now on its third version. When I search actionscript here, it takes me to search engine.Maybe flash can get its own topic and actionscript can be a sub topic of it. I'm really into Flash right now and think it would be really cool to start a flash community.
