Odomike Services Pls help me review my site
serverph replied to odomike's topic in Websites and Web Designing
odomike, do some testing with mozilla browsers.i use firefox and the lady's face in your page header is not properly aligned. a gapappears between the sliced images. it looks good in IE however.in the middle portion, the texts boxed in black (New @ Odomike Services Intl.?, Support Forums, Check this out) are not properly aligned as well.... in both IEand Firefox. it overlaps with the red "Featured Service" box.i like the flash clock you have in your site. maybe you can place it as a floatingand scrolling section so it follows whenever you scroll the page up & down. just a thought. -
it depends if you need the data from the HD, then formatting it will render it empty, and you don't want that. moving HD from one PC to another PC would be OK, and no further configuration is required IF it is autodetected (otherwise you need to tweak the BIOS), AND if it is your PRIMARY HD. you can still add it as a "slave" HD but you may have to modify jumper settings in that HD to make it work as a slave. settings vary from HD to HD, you may have to ask someone to do it if you're not familiar with it.

serverph replied to round's topic in Websites and Web Designing

what are you computer specs? you most likely need to upgrade your memory if you keep getting this problem. try to clear up some HD space too, since intensive processing like this requires a huge swap file. -

just stay tuned to the TV. those questors you've mentioned seem to have good followings, and since text votes from viewers started already, you just have to maximize your SMS votes so that they stay in competition. "Ubusan na toh ng load!" hehehe? -

hi guys. i thought this thread would never get comments from you guys. it's been a month since i first posted it. anyway, on to your comments: glad you love it karlo. in the service of the filipino... worldwide. there are pics of theo in the gallery section. RE:uni.cc - it's my primary (sub)domain, i don't have a Xisto subdomain. in the pioneering days of Xisto, we were all given uni.cc's. you can have your Xisto changed to a uni.cc, i suppose, if you request an admin for it. i simply used a content management system for my site. there are several CMS addon scripts provided in the control panel, you may want to try which one you like best. thanks Roahl to answer your questions: 1) it's a fan site, and by fair use practice, and to identify the rightful producer of the said show, i included the company logo prominently. don't worry, it's been a widely popular site now, and if ever i get into trouble, i should have by now, since the site includes membership from people within the said company. and as boycradle mentioned, a disclaimer is in place in every page. 2) the 3-column strip for the index page is simply to delineate content i want to appear on the site. content may be useless to some, but it is useful to most visitors i have. and the site is optimized to be viewed with a 1024x768 resolution (i know MOST of my visitors use this resolution) so no problem there with respect to space concerns. it would be more bare to see (and a lot of more wasted space), if i used a 2-column strip. nevertheless, i can change it anytime to a 2-column or 3-column page whenever i want since i use a CMS template. the google adsense ad, i placed there so i can get indexed by googlebot. as for the bottom gray area, it's where i am helping Xisto by placing ads there [root admin, do you suppose i can get more bandwidth than what i currently have now? ]. and so as not to waste space in this bottom gray area as well, i placed my site counter there, plus a "vote for my site" graphic (which can be a bragging right when the site gets enough votes). 3) i required membership registration for sections like forum and gallery because i want it to be a close-knit community. it's primarily a fan site, so fans should have no problems registering if they want. also, i can manage the site better by requiring membership since sites like this can go haywire with a lot of bandwidth used if no membership is in place. i'm limited to a 3GB bandwidth so unless a visitor is really a fan of the show, then i can save on bandwidth by limiting the sections accessed. i hope i have answered your questions guys. and thanks to everyone in this thread. -
Google Indexing Php Pages? Is PHP a problem for google?
serverph replied to no9t9's topic in Search Engines
metatagging is part and parcel of site engine optimization. even for google. it just so happens that search engines have different search indexing algorithms, so ranking will vary greatly from search engine to search engine. but even if that's the case, google is not the only search engine. metatags will at least make a site optimized for other search engines. my page hits from search engines come from a multitude of search engines/directories like yahoo, google, msn, lycos, and other minor search engines. on php and google, go to the links provided above to read on session IDs, and how to optimize php pages for googlebot. indexing by google will mostly depend on how you meta tagged your pages... example from Xisto source code: <meta name="revisit-after" content="2 days"> ... and on other sites which link to you (because when your site is listed on other sites, and gets indexed by googlebot, it proceeds to index your site as well, and so on and so forth). -
Google Indexing Php Pages? Is PHP a problem for google?
serverph replied to no9t9's topic in Search Engines
there are ways to disable sessions IDs when googlebot indexes php pages. a script can be included to detect googlebot and other search indexer bots, then it will allow to crawl your pages without session IDs. haven't tried this though, but there are scripts prepared by others in other forums. just google for it. or try this to make search-engine friendly URLs. -
go to your cpanel, then look for ADDON SCRIPTS. You can auto-install several kinds offorums from there, like phpBB and InvisionBoard. :)good luck with your forums

read on PHP, Googlebot, Session ID. -
To find this out just upload a PHP script (you can name it servertime.php) that says : <?php $Hour = date("g"); print ("$Hour"); ?> Then go to it via your browser: example: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This will give you the time that the server is on. When you get this, find out how many hours are in the difference between server time and your time. For example, if it shows 5 and your time is 8, then you are ahead +3. If it shows 9 and yours is 3, you are behind -6. These are just examples

you really want to format it? are you sure? really, really sure? just asking coz formatting will erase ALL your disk's contents, and it may be too late to reverse theoutcome if you want to retreive any important files after formatting.if what you really want is to format your disk, you can format in DOS mode, withoutneeding to log-in in windows. (besides, windows will not allow you to format a diskif it is running and using sectors in that disk. windows formatting will work for partitions, and floppies, and CDRs/DVDRs.)

bandwidth count is reset every 1st of the month.... SERVER time just wait for a couple of hours, because this is due to varying time zones, and your local time is apparently ahead of the server time.

search and delete any instance of this in your html file: then re-upload. also, double-check that you have **completely** uploaded ALL your images in your "images" folder under public_html. holler back if you still need more help. -

UPS: uninterrupted power supply, like a backup electricity that keeps your PC runningfor at least a couple of minutes more if any electric outages occur. that way, anything you've been working on can be saved and the computer can be shut down properly. it's simply a voltage regulator with batteries.

you may have loose connections (the pins of the monitor cable which connects to yourCPU might be a bit loose). while computer is off (and unplugged), try to adjust themonitor cable.

you should distinguish between parked domains and addon domains. confused? here's a quick tip:Parked Domains are domains that point to the main domain account. Add-On Domains are domain added to your current account but will show a separate website. ----- specific to zip_mc -----zip, it looks like your site (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) is not yet pointed to your Xisto hosting. set it up from domainsite admin page to redirect to your uni.cc URL (your main page, or to your subdomain). i also have a .info from domainsite (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/), and i just redirect itto my uni.cc subdomain (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). i havent tried pointing it using Xisto nameservers, coz i think this is a paid option in domainsite (so i am stuck with simple redirection).from Xisto cpanel, i parked my .info, and i can access my cpanel using .info/cpaneli can also access a forum subdirectory in my site using .info/forum(but since my .info domain just redirects, the browser address will show myuni.cc address. if a nameserver is used to set up domain, then that domain nameis what is shown in the browser address.)
