Does Number Of Posts = Bandwidth/disk Space I Will Lose ?
BuffaloHelp replied to ProtoMan's topic in Web Hosting Support
If you're not clear with the definition of Bandwidth in internet terms: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandwidth Disk space is determined by how much you have in your hosting account, bandwidth usage is determined by how many page views, downloads etc your visitors perform. The more visitors sees your page, the higher bandwidth usage you'll see. You have SMF board but 5GB bandwidth per month is not enough? Wow, your forum must be very good then You can track of your actual bandwidth by using Bandwidth analyzer under cPanel. All these questions and other basic information about your hosting are answered in Xisto Readme. Please search before making a redundant topic post. -
Is there a direct link to the browser? How about a screenshot in action? These are the things every post should contain when reviewing a product/item. Thank you. For the official ELINKS site http://elinks.or.cz/ and you can find screenshots, etc. there.

Suspended member's site was un-suspended with probation period today, 6am GMT-4. Member wappy was told to be patient until full investigation but no, he had to cry, be known and drag Xisto's name down by spreading rumors. This is causing some of other members, including members who posted here to understand it incorrectly and use words falsely. Before the whole ordeal began, I notified wappy to make sure the index page was fixed so that *any* browser should see at least one normal web page from the day 1 of free web hosting request. That was ignored and still being ignored today. This itself is clear grounds that this account should be terminated today. But I held the judgment until member can make right of this situation. I believe I was very patient with you so far. "Just install Opera and you can see my site..." is not the term and condition of your hosting. Your condition of our hosting is that you will not use our hosting exclusive to ONE subject matter for example either just hosting files, as a storage... one page must be operation in web content that can be viewed and verified by any browser. The key words are Have Permissable Contents. You are ultimately responsible for your hosting. If you allow other people to create web hosting/web page under your service and they happen to post or host illegal files, it is you who are going to be suspended. "It's not my fault and I can't watch my site 24/7..." is irrelevant. I am keep getting twenty or more messages a day or so by other members saying, "well I didn't know the rules." I believe no one really reads anything in our board anymore. I suggest you take things seriously and read the basics first. For those who feel understanding Xisto is proven to be too difficult, I regret that you cannot be hosted with Xisto free web hosting, no ads. Good luck with your new provider.

Have you also tried with Xisto link exchange? http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 1) click on General Category. 2) select optional gategory 3) click on Suggest Link tab 4) fill in as much detail as you can 5) Reciprocal Url: means the page that contains backlink to Xisto, i.e. <a href="http://forums.xisto.com/ Web Hosting</a>

Do not bump your own topic or any other topics. We all can read what's on the forum and not one topic is important than others. You need to clarify by what you meant when "post onto [separate] page" Would you like your form entry to be saved as a web page and permanently stored into your hosting page to be reviewed later on? Or do you just want to email entered form data to designated email address?ghostrider, do not digress from a topic. For your question TLD stands for Top Level Domain(name). It means your-site.com or your-site.net etc instead of your-site.trap17.com, which is called sub-domain.

That is something I have not found out. Although I use SMF myself for another site I never needed it since it's mainly for financial and stock discussions--not many people are linking to outside of my forum. Try looking through SMF's website and see if there is/are modified bbcodes released recently. SMF's official site is http://www.simplemachines.org/ Discussion group is located in http://www.simplemachines.org/community/

A member who has short history with Xisto and Xisto Corporation should not jump to a conclusion without prolonged exposure to the complete aspect. Xisto and Xisto free web hosting, no ads are identical Both Xisto and Xisto are operating under Xisto Corporation. They have the same hosting solutions, capabilities and functionalities. Xisto and Xisto rules are identical However, the topics covered here are more general than Xisto. Xisto is geared towards professional topics and therefore short, brief and single sentence post is never allowed. Xisto was game and gamers oriented forum. Therefore, once in a while a brief and quick post is *tolerated* but still never allowed. Xisto admins are VERY diligent If your judgment is based on how quickly a request is approved, you have narrow minded conclusion. Admins at Xisto approves/denies according to member's active participation as well. For example, a member will start to make posts to be qualified for free web hosting and application. And the member stops posting until application is approved. Admins will sit back and wait to see if this member will continue to participate in other discussions rather than post nothing... and believe it or not admins are very patient at this. 80% of quick requesting members do not come back to Xisto because they stop making contribution after free web hosting application. Remember: free web hosting with no ads is the byproduct of actively contributing to our forums with quality posts!! Xisto has two admins only OpaQue and I are the only admins of Xisto due to security reasons. However, I am here to do few administrator duties everyday because I do have few hours to spend here. OpaQue owns and manages Xisto Corporation which operates Xisto - Web Hosting, Xisto, Xisto, Xisto dot NET, Xisto and Xysis Media Server. His busy schedule does not offer him with luxury to spend more than few minutes in each part of his corporation. It is unfair when a member decides on one aspect of Xisto without realizing the total dimension of Xisto Corporation.

Please use clear and complete sentences so that members do not have to struggle to understand your task.To migrate from one forum database and all its posts to another forum script, first you must find out if the new forum script offeres some kind of automatic transfer or conversion gadget. If a conversion gadget/script is not available, you must perform the writing of new data in manually. For example, your forum has prefix of SMF_ and variables like UserName, you must replace SMF_UserName with your new forum's prefix NewForum_UserName.This is neither the task for beginning web hosting members nor members unfamiliar with manual database manage. Seek to find the database convertor by your intended new forum script. That would be your best bet.

Please use the following general guide line when posting for help: 1) name the topic title specific to your situation 2) identify what forum script you're using 3) identify what is that you exactly wanted to accomplish by giving detailed example You should have mentioned that you are using Simple Machines Forum. SMF behaves differently than Invision Power Board. To insert URL for your page/forum is to just post https://forums.xisto.com/ and it will appear as link. If it does not you can enter it as [URL]https://forums.xisto.com/[/url] Notice that [url=] is not used because URL= is IPB bbcode and not SMF bbcode. IPB allows [URL=http://full link]Optional Text[/URL] very similar to HTML code <a href="http://full link">Optional Text</a> but SMF cannot, thus SMF is free.

In our forum's main index page, at the bottom forum section you can read the description This is how you know your request has been approved/denied. Topic is resolved and closed. Please PM any moderator if you wish to continue this topic discussion.

Gamma Server's Time Is Two Months Behind!
BuffaloHelp replied to gameratheart's topic in Web Hosting Support
Please read the response I made carefully. The link provided shows in GMT time and date correctly. I was noting that it's GMT time from EDT +4 (GMT+4 from EDT). EDT is Eastern Daylight-saving Time, United States East Coast time zone.Server time is correctly identified in GMT time and date, repeat. And therefore you must check your script, ini or config setting. There is nothing wrong with the server time. -
Making sure that you have all your settings correctly, basically yes. Just wait until it completes re-encoding. And depending on your computer resource power, you can actually click on the file created when the start of conversion and you can start the view, skip around etc. This is because mpeg default encoding is frame dependent and not stream dependent.

Asp On Trap17 To Make Password Protect Pages
BuffaloHelp replied to squeaky's topic in Web Hosting Support
There is another way of protecting files/directory. Using your cPanel you can "web protect" your site. This will open browser security login (very like the login you see for cPanel access site).Let's say you have file A, B, C and D you want to restrict from viewing. Place those files under folder called /secure or whatever. Your link to those files will be your-site.trap17.com/secure/A or your-site.com/secure/A etc.Anytime the link is clicked it will ask for security login and password since the whole directory to /secure is protected. This is one of easiest ways you can implement login and password without extra programming.Since squeaky didn't specify the whole "plan" of how and what should be protected, just to let you know that web protect has its limitation (such as maximum of 10 different login and password per direcoty). And since other possible obsticles were not represented by the topic starter this would be the best answer for your query.ASP requires license agreement which must be paid. Using PHP can result the same effect, if you know how. PHP is free. Xisto does not plan to impose the cost of implementing ASP or ASP.NET for Linux (license required) to Free Web Hosting, No Ads members. My professor used to tell me to K.I.S.S. = keep it simple, students (actually the last s is another word for "unintelligent" not that I am implying to anyone ) -
When you advance to different time frame and you notice a lag in video/audio it is because it was encoded with stream instead of frame. This means a video file was created using linear coding. If you wait a bit (sometimes over a minute) the video will resume with audio or sometimes audio asynch. The only way to make this stream encode to behave like a frame encode is to recode--use programs like Tmpgenc to re-encode. For example, you have a file somefile.mpg. Use Tmpgenc to create another mpg and name it somefile2.mpg. Setting in Tmpgenc would be exactly same as the original somefile.mpg, i.e. video resolution, bit rate conversion, bit rate playback... etc. All you're doing is remaking new file from the original file. This process is called re-encode. Once you have the finished file format, you can skip to any time in frame and it will play instantly.Stream encoding is optional feature to "distribute with hard to copy" method. This means if a site features streaming it's less likely to be saved on a local drive. This means a user cannot save it as a file when viewed from a source site.

CUE or BIN files are used by burning software like Nero to make an image of a file/disk. Therefore you'll need to make the image file into image disk (just run anything that can support CUE or BIN, such as Nero) and let it make a full CD.And then you can extract the REAL format. Perhaps it might be in AVI or MPEG format but once you have the image CD you can convert to anything.Think of it this way, it's like ZIP file. Before Windows XP you needed WinZip to extract zipped file. Without it filename.zip was useless... right? So unzip it and then you can see/copy/edit files compressed. CUE or BIN works in similar ways but for CD imaging purpose.

Sotw #49 - Voting Voting time xD
BuffaloHelp replied to truefusion's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
LOL!!!!! AgentB's sig is disturbing! Is it pigeon??? What are you trying to say? And what's with fried chicken head? I'm never eating McNuggets again!! ha ha ha. I like Plenoptic's "Think Outside The Bun." I wonder perhaps it could have been written as "Plenoptic Thinks Outside The Bun..." And so I vote for Slay's sig for this week. However, by no means I am thinking of you as a "Fruit Basket" but your sig was finished very well and nicely blended. -
Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were going to post more. Please read the pinned topic regarding what is required before requesting for sig/banner. You would also need to improve your post quality.Thank you.

PM me the correct directory you need to change and I'll take a look at it.

Unless the server admin has objection to customizing php.ini you can make your own customized php.ini to increase maximum file upload size. Read this article https://status.site5.com/ and follow them carefully. PHP.INI is transparent to your hosting since it's needed to make PHP to work with hosting server, not individual account. Therefore you will not see them. However, you can look through http://forums.xisto.com/info.php to see what is installed and what is not installed for your script needs.

If you want your own dot com name You need to purchase a domain name and change your hosting account to your domain name. This involves nameserver changing and domain hosting name changing. Both are well covered under Hosting Members Area and quick links at Xisto Readme. Second and easiest way is to get URL redirect service such as co.nr or uni.cc. If you don't mind uni.cc (something.uni.cc) you can use it like a top level domain name (such as .net .com etc) as long as uni.cc is still providing nameserver changes. Co.nr is mere redirect which is very useful when you have long domain name. It can me short.co.nr as your domain name that redirects to somethinglong.trap17.com Purchasing a domain name isn't hard these days. Visit https://xisto.com/ for domain prices or Yahoo is currently doing a special price on first year domain pricing. After obtaining a domain name, go to the process page and select option number 2 to "tie" the domain name to your hosting. Before you do this it is important that you access your domain control and change nameserver to ns1.trap17.com and ns2.trap17.com. To see the different aspect of your forum location You can write index page to redirect to your forum FOLDER. This method has been discussed in Hosted Members Area under the title How to redirect from one page to another. This topic covers using redirect script or cPanel redirect method. Basically this means that when someone types your-site.trap17.com it will redirect to your-site.trap17.com/forum folder. Co.nr can be used to redirect to your forum folder by pointing your-site.co.nr --> your-site.trap17.com/forum. This also can be used for uni.cc domain name.

Size: 190 x 90 Brush Style: Any Color: Blueish Render: optional that matches theme Text: Domain Names starting @ $1.80, All Domains Include FREE Control Panel, Transfer includes 1 year extension, domains.computinghost.com, Other effects: transition or morph (animate?) OPTIONAL!!! This weeks SOTW will be to make sig (logo) for Domains.Computinghost.com. The idea is to make something similar to this image: but with above words for domains. Visit https://xisto.com/ and see the color scheme that could be used, but by all means experiment. I'd like to see Exclusive Web Hosting Offer and Domain Names Starting... either changing from one another with about 5 seconds interval, or morph from one to another. Try your best and see what you can do. You do not need to perform animation or morphing. It is optional. Please save all your work! If OpaQue likes it you'd be asked to share your source file to adjust few things/words. Thank you. PS to encourage all you sig gurus out there, I'd like to make this SOTW #50 entry to last TWO weeks.

By the way you can write as echo "<a href='$path$narray[$i]'>$narray[$i]</a><br/>"; and still be sufficient. As long as $path is correct you do not need char(34) since a single quote will suffice. And when only one set of double quotes are used, no need to use periods to separate variables. But the question I have is: how can I be able to hide the file extension? Is there a way or is it just too much? ---UPDATE--- Figured out how to replace $filename = str_replace(".htm", ".", $narray[$i]);OR $filename = str_replace(".htm", "", $narray[$i]);Place this right before echo (in my case) solved my issue. The problem was that the replacing string had to have a value. I left it as just " " and it wasn't working.
