  1. Is it HAPPYPHP or HANDYPHP?I was going to give few suggestions. Since I am no good with any original concepts, how about playing with the word HANDY? HANDY is usually associated with the mood of being a tool, quick, useful etc. Take another step and think "handy man"... as in hired help, toolman, etc.Now think with "handy php"... a quick useful tool, can be hired to help...How about spelling out HANDY with tools that resembles them? Or H with a ruler, A a ladder, etc...I'm not sure if this shares vujsa's vision.
  2. This is a brilliant script! You have no idea how many times I have searched on the net... and believe it or not, this sorting method is highly sought after. There were theories but no working script. Thanks vujsa! PHP online manual just doesn't cut it for me. This really makes CMS possible with my site. I don't have to monitor the file uploads by my league refs.My script will have array() that will read all files within my schedule directory. This will replace your $days() array.Since the topic is here, I can now place this code as working script on annex.trap17.com
  3. If the results of each poll (poll vote numbers) are the important and not the actual posts itself, also try searching google. If google cached your page, hopefully recently, you can perhaps "recover" most of voting results... no?
  4. When you create an email account under cPanel, you must use cPanel email scripts to send and read your emails going and from your domain name.If you want to send and receive email related to your domain name, read the pinned topic regarding using Outlook and your hosting account. When you sent the default email address this email is used to retrieve your account information. *NOT* to receive an email going to your domain. To CATCH all emails going to your domain, regarless of whose username it may be, go to ALIASES/FORWARDING and click to set DEFAULT CATCH-ALL.ADD FORWARDER is to set a specific user email accout to a designated email address. For example, user1@domain ==> username@gmail or user2@domain ==> someone@hotmail etc.
  5. You need to be more specific when you are posting a question or a help. How did you create your email account, like under cPanel? If so, did you make a redirect, catch-all or what?To send an email with your domain name, have you read the pinned topic regarding usage of Outlook and email settings?
  6. Try this topic http://forums.xisto.com/topic/25640-how-to-use-Xisto-cgi-formmail-a-built-in-script-in-every-hosting/ using built-in CGI email script.
  7. Wow... that's some ouch you got there.I suppose you can look through the backup (not restoring) and see if you can isolate two polls before the merge. Then edit the current merged topic and manually enter missing values. Under ACP it will show which mod, time and topic titles merged. Use it as an anchor and search the backup for the search point.Perhaps OpaQue has better procedure...
  8. Not bad at all! Although I think the font should have been cleaned up a bit more--I can see few white outlines...unless that was the effect desired.Under the circumstances of given guide lines of the requestor it's a job well done.
  9. Looks like you're not the only one who has this issue. Take a look at how the shortcut is created http://www.dougknox.com/tips/showdesktop.htm In case the site is down or no longer exists in the future, here is the quote Or go to this site for just easy download and install http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_showdesktop.htm
  10. Remember that sometimes it takes anywhere from 24~72 hours before *ALL* of world's internet nodes can resolved newely changed nameserver to hosting IP.As far as I can see, the North America East Coast have resolved the nameserver correctly--I can see your default hosting by using above domain name.Topic is closed. 11. That is quite interesting news... only 1.1 RC2 and RC2-2 were effected due to security exploit. RC3 should have fixed this error.Be sure to change your Settings.php to CHMOD 744 so that it's only read only mode. Whenever you need to upgrade or modifying change back to 777 and then change it back. This will increase your security.
  12. If keeping consistant activity in our forum is the question, perhaps you should try http://www.trap17.net/ hosting program by Xisto Corporation. This dot NET account will place one ad banner on top of every page. However, you do not require to post or pay anything to keep this free account. It's an instant setup and functions very similar to Xisto dot COM account. There are few limitations but for your web hosting style/needs it is a perfect starting point.
  13. This was the exploit discovered from Windows 98 SE. The infamous con/con exploit used IE to take control over your operating system just by accessing the malicious code from a website.Since then Microsoft released security patch to disable from operating system executing it remotely/automatically.Theoretically you can do anything to Windows security protection by disabling Windows restore, restore point and system file protection and you can delete system files and create faulty directories. This was demonstrated when Windows 2000 was released. Microsoft performed 1 hour demonstration class in Rochester, NY how to delete and modify system protected files/directories by doing few steps. The process method came up when Microsoft spokesperson for corporate training desmonstrated that system files/directories cannot be deleted. And in the event of deletion, a restart will bring back deleted system files purged. But I wouldn't go around and mess with things that are not broken
  14. PHP 5.1.x is still being updated and fixed for few memory leaks. So I wouldn't say it's free from bugs at this point.Xisto free web hosting, no ads offers PHP 4.4.2. PHP 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 were released August of this year (2006). It is still the stable version of PHP for free web hosting accounts. PHP 4.4.3 is available for Xisto - Web Hosting customers at this time.Perhaps in the future when server admin deems to fit, PHP version may be upgraded. However at this time there is not a discussion in place. The option to change to different PHP versions is a good suggestion. That is up to the owner of Xisto Corporation.
  15. We have Entertainment > Video section for this occasion. Please read forum description before making a post.Moving.
  16. Ah... xcopy... ye olde DOS 3.3 command circa 1987. For more information of xcopy take a look at http://www.computerhope.com/xcopyhlp.htm and Microsoft This is just a comment that soon people will not know what a calculator is or a rotary dial and pulse...
  17. As far as pricing of an internet connection goes, it reminds me of Moore's Law. Intel's co-founder Gordon Moore predicted that the number of transistors on a chip doubles every 2 years. The internet and all related hardware prices have shown the reciprocal effect: prices of internet connection for homes are 1/2 the price of just two years ago. My DSL which provides 768/160kbps cost $34.99 USD just two years ago. Now, I'm paying only $14.99 USD for the same connection speed. Linksys router which I paid over $120 USD three years ago now costs only $49.99 USD. Looks like the pattern is that the same technology costs less and less as time passes. When I purchased 50" Pioneer plasma in 2002 I paid over $9,000. Recently I saw something similar to what I have in Best Buy (United State's major electronics and appliances store) for mere $3,200... at 54" size.I wouldn't say that the actual cost of computer technology hinders the advancement of economically challenged world, but the actual assimilation and adaptation of new technology by the thrid world is the culprit. And, of course, the willingness to use the new technology to advance the lives of their country would be the major key.
  18. I'm sure FAA (at least for North America region) regulated and tested many different safty methods. Boeing, the largest airplane distributor, had a documentary aired a while ago about the process and testing they have done over the years regarding passenger safety. They first ruled out that ejecting from an airplane going 600+mph while flying over a large ocean at the altitude of 390-410 miles will suffocate an average passenger without prior training. And ejected seats will make it harder to locate survivors scattered through-out. The structure of an airplane was designed to float or bend and break to protect passengers...in most cases. And I believe landing on water took the higher risk analysis than on land (due to difficulties in rescue reaching by water), all airplane seats are to be used as a floatational device. The bottom of the seat pops up and used as floatational in case not everyone makes it to an emergency raft.Don't ask me why I pay attention to these trivias but ever since Sept 11, and my work requires me to fly 3~4 times a week, I have been paying closer attention to these details. Someone leaned over the other day and said, "you know an airplane crash has lower probability than getting into a car accident." I stopped to think while she continued, "...it's the company who failed to maintain the airplane that contributes to crashes."Parachute seat is a great idea. But I think it's not practical for large number of passengers.

  21. If your account was compromised, there wouldn't be any left of your files and database... right? Think before you assume. Which version of SMF were you using? And did you follow all SMF standard setting instruction, such as CHMOD? So have you upgraded to 1.1 RC3?
  22. Which version of Wordpress have you been using? Or any other blog scripts?Just to cover all bases, are you free from any spyware within your computer? Some web scripts have huge security wholes and I believe this is one of key methods these "hackers" are exploiting. It's not hardly any hacking...it's just knowing how to inject "cheat" codes to gain access to edit your files. Otherwise they could have deleted all your sub-domain (if you have any) and modified your password etc. But since it's only a deface of your page(s) it is most likely a security exploit.Let me know which web scripts you have been using and let's see if we can beef it up a bit.
  23. First read this discussion to see if your ISP allows you to have your own hosting http://forums.xisto.com/topic/24517-how-to-host-my-own-website-in-my-computer-how-to-host-my-website-in-my-own-compute/ Second read these topics and find out what you are needed to run your own hosting using your PC from your home. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/8307-how-to-host-ur-own-site-in-2-mins-phpmysql-needed/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/6965-a-guide-on-webhosting-php-mysql-and-phpmyadmin/ and then, finally read http://forums.xisto.com/topic/35351-setting-up-own-hosting/ These articles were given in order so that you understand what steps are involved for you to have your hosting running. I tried to run my own server at some point and here are things what I came to conclude: -leaving my PC on 24/7/365.25 ran about $400 per year on electricity (increase in about $34 per month when I ran this long) -my upload speed could not handle so many requests (I had upload of 10.2MBps and it still wasn't enough) -I had to take care of my own damaged parts And honestly, for $400 a year I can get 1000X better hosting from let's say Xisto - Web Hosting.com. For mere $120 a year I have 5.4GB space with 99.9GB bandwidth featuring OC192 (this is faster than T3) backbone fiber connection. Of course, Xisto - Web Hosting also has $40 per year for 2.1GB and 33.3GB bandwidth.

  25. Since ImageFilez was bought from a previous company not under the same terms as Xisto, it will take some time until filters can be placed--if at all. It's something that OpaQue can only answer. The burning question is why ImageFilez over other image hosting sites? Well one cool thing currently is that you can zoom in or out by using mouse fly wheel right at your browser. Using mama_soap's image http://forums.xisto.com/topic/41793-acquisition-of-imagefilezcom-by-xisto-began-on-aug-31-and-now-complete/ place your mouse anywhere on the picture. Then roll your mouse fly wheel (that's the one used for page scrolling up and down) and you'll see that an image can be zoomed in or out. It's great if you're showing off highly detailed picture. If you have not registered for ImageFilez account, the image uploaded will feature "http://www.xisto.com/;watermark at the lower right hand corner.
