  1. If htaccess is complicated to set up, try following simpler solutions. Using a simple index in HTML <META http-equiv="refresh" content="5;URL=domain.to.redirect/folder/optional; content=5 means in 5 seconds. During which time you can display a short message "You're now being redirected to..." Save it as index.html or index.htm as you like. Using a simple index in PHP <?phpheader('Location: domain.to.redirect/'); Save it as index.php and you're redirecting.
  2. I believe it depends on the definition of "picture quality." I have tried from low to high ends of DVD Camcorders and found they all have video noise. Video noise is when capturing light is not bright enough and produce random color pixels--especially around darker areas. This is always the issue with lower quality of CMOS or CCD. To deliver recordings to miniDVD format the manufactures of camcorders have substituted high quality lens and sensors. To me, this is not a best "picture quality." It is agreed that having miniDV takes longer to transfer onto a DVD disk. But still this format delivers uncompressed highest picture quality. miniDVD still requires to be compressed to MPEG-2 where miniDV is uncompressed AVI format. The miniDV camcorders are bulky but it allows to be assembled with higher quality lens and sensors. And manufactures can place more emphasis on lens and sensors. If video editing is an issue that determines the quality of a camcorder, I believe that is an unfair statement. A consumer can spend a mere $200 on a camcorder to capture the birth of a baby, and to have it transferred to a DVD with few steps is well worth the effort. But if a consumer is trying to edit a documentary, the emphasis is not at a camcorder but on an editing abilities. I rather have a professional video lens attached to Hi8 video camcorder than a factory lens attached to high-end DVD camcorder. Because the professional video lens will give me better control of lighting than the factory.
  3. This is turned off by server administrators for a reason. To contact further regarding this matter, please visit Xisto - Support.com and submit a support ticket. You can write a simple script to generate list of pages and dump it as a file. If you are performing a relative directory watch how you are referencing, i.e. include ../folder/file verses include ./folder/file Test your script by using a simple include function test. Has it worked with other web hosting services? Again watch out for proper path, i.e. ../file.ext or ./file.ext If you can post your partial code perhaps we can figure it out together.
  4. Ah, you want to host multiple domain names with Xisto free web hosting account? Yes. This can be done by using Add-On domain service found in your cpanel. By Add-On domain service your hosting credits will stay the same reduction rate at 1 hosting credit per day. When adding a domain to your cpanel, you can choose to create a new folder or point to an existing folder. The process is very simple and at any time you can consult with our forum. The process of adding a domain to your cpanel is the same as making any domain name work with your cpanel: first, you must change the domain name's nameserver to ns.computinghost.com and ns2.computinghost.com. Second, access your cpanel and select Add-On Domain to start the process. Third, allow up to 72 hours for your newly changed nameserver to propagate through out the web.Be sure to remove any redirect script to prevent redirect loops. Essentially, your folder "chantelle" will act as "public_html" folder for your Add-On Domain of "Chantellepaige.org."Let us know if you need further assistance.
  5. Your request will be reviewed by one of our GFX Crew or members.
  6. Happy Xisto-birthday! I'm glad Xisto can be the place for all your web hosting needs. And we look forward not just one, but many years to come with you as our member. Cool Beans
  7. Welcome back to the wonderful world of free web hosting :)Boy, you took no time to come back huh? Nice!
  8. "It was" as in "did you have virus residing in the BIOS?"
  9. Yes, I have accessed your domain control and have fixed the situation.Give it some time to resolve completely. I can see your domain and it looks good.I have also replied regarding your URL issue and that's something you have to fix from your forum database. Usually, the forum admin panel can reassign the full URL where the forum is installed. Once you do all your HREF issue will be corrected.
  10. No. If you keep any other nameserver names it will hinder Xisto hosting service.
  11. No. Your nameservers must be pointed the way it is.Your current domain's ping result returns as:216.39.62.117If you managed your domain the way it should be, the ping result should be:64.69.46.210So, this means your domain is parked or "owned" by something else than Xisto. Thus, your cpanel cannot take the ownership, a.k.a. Park Domain. The IP 216.39.62.117 is pointed to ALTAVISTA COMPANY. Does this help you resolve what's wrong with your domain situation? Again, remember that whatever you make changed to your domain controller it will take some time to reflect properly.
  12. A remote chance that there is a BIOS resident virus that attacks operating sys files. I had it once during 1998 CitiGroup crisis. A virus made to reside in RAM and BIOS to wipe out the hard drive's boot sector. Trying scanning with anti-virus after reinstalling an operating system. Again, this probability is very small but I just wanted to raise an awareness.
  13. Topic is resolved. Please PM any moderator to continue this discussion. Until then, this topic is closed.
  14. Have you defaulted or changed back to a default value for A record and CNAME? You should only change nameservers but not both nameservers and A record plus CNAME.Since I can't see your domain control I will have to assume that you have to set A record and CNAME back to default values to Park your domain properly.

    Gmx Mail

I read about GMX mail service in March from one of those PC magazines. I was impressed with their web interface. I truly believe that the future of software is in web apps interface. But I already use Gmail along with Google Apps. It's just one too many email accounts for me. I like the short domain name--GMX.com--but I rather have my personal domain name with the freedom of choosing user names. I just can't say enough about GMX web interface. It's very impressive. Take that Microsoft! lol
  16. When you change your nameserver, it may take up to 72 hours before you can use your domain name. So prepare to wait until it is resolved completely.Just changing nameserver will do just fine. No need to change CNAME.Parking your domain was very nice way to tackle this issue. And later when you are comfortable that your sub-domain is no longer used by your visitors, unpark your domain and use Manage page to "change" your domain name to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. This will complete the transition.
  17. If you're attempting this frankenstein experiment, know that whatever you do to prevent dust from attracting you will have dust that is unfit for a hard drive to function. Thus I mentioned the transplantation process is to read data only once. I would strongly suggest getting the identical working drive for recovery attempt. Remember, all you're doing is getting the platter from your dead drive to a working drive. So you may be faced with moving only few parts. However, if Dell is trying to swap out your drive for warranty coverage I would urge suggestion of "do not touch." They, Dell, can come back with an excuse of 'well, your drive is not covered by our warranty because you tempered with the drive.'Recovery services start at a minimum of $1000 and can cost up to $5000. And they do not guarantee 100% recovery. They consider 70% recovery to be acceptable. I know this because I sent a server drive out once and got nothing but gibberish files. I still had to pay $2700 just for the "attempt" on their part. And it was because my drive was SCSI and not IDE. Imagine what SATA would cost...? I will withheld the name of the company who raped me :lol:You can build a portable clean room (4 plexi walls with 1 air in and 1 air out, two holes big enough to let my arms through a pair of gloves. Imagine a sand blasting chamber with clear top, 2 sides and front walls.) like I have with some clever mods. But even at best it still cost me well over $200 to build one. Well, in my case it was useful since the word got out that I was recovering hard drive information and few people have approached me for quick cash jobs.Later I found out that my local hardware tool shop sold very nice sand blasting chamber for $70!!! Well, mine looks better anyway But with that chamber you can feed one air intake and one air outtake. Fit both air intakes with nice HEPA filter and you got yourself a portable, somewhat, clean room. You can use Dry/Wet vac to push air in and regular vacuum clear to such air out. Place HEPA filter closer, if not inside, to the chamber outlets. Place very bright light in or above the working area and that should do it. Why do you need air to circulate, you may ask? I don't know. But the idea is to prevent dust introduced to inside the chamber from settling down at any surface. Because, you'll be loading objects in and out by opening the cover/door. If you can spare some money to fit filtered air blaster gun that would be nice. You can "hose down" objects as they enter the chamber for even further cleaning process.I don't have any plans or drawings but maybe this would be a good time to make one.
  18. Try using password in all alphanumeric--do not mix special characters. This includes your forum password. Change your forum password if it's not all alphanumeric. Follow the second error message and your issue will be resolved. Sorry for not double checking; OpaQue never activated your hosting approval after approving your hosting application. You should have received a confirmation email as I have just activated your approval. Thanks.
  19. Even if our hosting server crashes your files will be saved because Xisto has independent backup server. However, due to the timing of backup setting each backup per account will not be most current. And yes, if you perform cpanel backup (especially everything under public_html folder) your CuteNews will backup 100%. Also, your CuteNews has backup feature of its own. But this is performed manually under CuteNews admin panel.
  20. I have tried the freezing technique but it did not work for me. The hard drive I worked on failed due to the bad circuit board. After replacing the circuit board the drive was revived. But before the replacement, I tried every known-to-internet methods and the drive just would not be recognized by my computer. And before replacing the circuit board I ordered 1 bad drive and 2 good drives off of eBay. I tried the method of "transplanting" a disk plate from a bad drive to one of good, identical drive. The process was successful. The basic idea was to replace all parts that were questionable--sector arms, damaged motors and other movable parts to operate a hard drive--and place in a drive that was "known" to be operational. If you search enough, there are clues to how to make your own Class 100 Clean Room to perform your transplantation. This transplantation is to retrieve data one time; it is not meant to fix the drive so that you can salvage it. So have your data retrieving machine near by in standby.PS, the reason I purchase 3 drives--1 to transplant to another, and 3rd to practice initially to find out how to take the drive apart without damaging anything. It was used to map out screws and process of taking it apart.
  21. If the issue with your hosting activation is resolved, please ignore this message.I see that you are at [HOSTED] group and I can see your cpanel name. This means your hosting account activation went successfully. Further indication through server admin panel shows that your cpanel is set correctly with an contact email address. If you cannot access your cpanel via yourdomain.trap17.com/cpanel due to incorrect password, you can reset your password by going to Manage page (Xisto.com/manage) and reset your cpanel password. The temporary password will be emailed to your "angeleye*****" email user account (full email withheld for privacy).
  22. Topic is resolved. Please PM any moderator to continue this discussion. Until then, this topic is closed.
  23. When you terminate your hosting account, you have to request your hosting account again just like the first time. All your files will be deleted, therefore, make the proper backups to your computer.Your current sub-domain will be available to request once more. Make sure you have enough hosting credits before submitting an application.Thanks.
  24. No, it has to be in English. The TOS and AUP state it.
  25. ComputingHost's 2 servers were scheduled for a simple upgrade yesterday morning. This announcement was sent to all registered email accounts. Perhaps the restart may have been a fault here. Stay tuned. And the reason why I said you may not want to hear is because even you posted your support here in our forum, I am going back to the same support board which you have not heard anything back. I didn't want you to think the support line was one giant loop to nowhere It was said in light heart.
