Help Im Having Problems With The Hosting Admin please help me
BuffaloHelp replied to WDSnav's topic in Web Hosting Support
WDSnav,Please PM me the cpanel password you used. The account is set correctly that you cannot access it since the forum ID and cPanel are not a match (it's how the system is set with forum credits and hosting account). I will need to manually test it out but your account is fully functioning. So, access your cPanel via 64.69.46.210:2082 and use your cPanel user and password. I'm going to make a small adjustment to your forum account now.*****UPDATE*****Let's start from the beginning. Terminate your hosting since the hosting server is refusing to enter your account information due to initial failure. Go to the process page and terminate your hosting. And then PM me and I'll reset your account so you can give it another go.*****UPDATE*****Your request was reset by OpaQue. Go to the processing page and start from the beginning. You should be able to request for hosting as it was the first time. Any problems you may have, please come back to this topic and post your result/feedback. -
Something Weird Has Happened To My Credit Count
BuffaloHelp replied to WDSnav's topic in Web Hosting Support
It's because you failed to complete the hosting activation process. Once you activate your hosting, it will fall down back to the default hosting amount. This credit number you see is when a hosting member's account gets reset to member's account. This is because, once again, you failed to complete the process and closed the browser while activating your hosting account.Stand by until OpaQue can fix everything from the system. You'll know when you are hosting when your GROUP becomes HOSTED level. -

You should always wait for a server reply (either success or error) Your account was established but since it was failed to login at the time of the creation, the account is currently locked. Please wait until this account is deleted and then you can reactivate it. -

You need to provide more information on how you are attempting to access your cPanel. For example, have you tried to access it by doing yourSite.trap17.com/cpanel or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ? Search the forum before making a topic for these information have been posted previously. Check in my signature Xisto Readme and you'll see the proper way to set your FTP settings. Remember, it's ftp.yourSite.trap17.com as FTP address. And do not use forum ID and password. You've selected different ID and password for your cPanel when you were activating for hosting.

At least you were invited. I went to apply, twice, yet not even a reply from them. So does that mean I was denied of application or are they still reviewing my site? It's been over a month... -
Looking For Some Feedback On The Upgrade
BuffaloHelp replied to Avalon's topic in Web Hosting Support
I made a notice here http://forums.xisto.com/topic/33314-topic-rating-explained-a-part-of-new-v214-board-feature/ and hopefully this will explain the concept of topic rating. As long as they are in complete sentences and used dictionary based full proper words, you will receive proper credits. The longer the post the more credits earn for that post. However, if a post is non-contributing, off topic, spam, same idea over and over again and just posting words to gain credits moderators will take away credits earn for that post. This is where quality contribution is stressed. If you have your say with fully explanation in detail, you will earn enough credits for that post. However, what is not implied here is that a credit earned per word. That is a myth and the factual information is a privilege to OpaQue's only So what makes a good post and earns credits at the same time? For example, you asked for some help with coding and someone made a post helping you with the code. You tried the code and found to be very successful and working well. Instead of coming back to the thread and replying, "thanks!" how about: "thanks! It worked just like I was expecting. I made my page with the code help here (insert link) and thought I should share the work with you." This gives feedback on the advice given and the actual working model of codes posted here. Bottom line? Put some meat into your short post. But not unnecessary fat. Trim the fat and put the good meat on it -
Our veteran members remember the reputation points system. The reputation point was aside from hosting credit system that your fellow forum peers gave to build the trust. It was mainly to gain credibility of this person's advice, post and information. The new forum version 2.1.4 features RATING system. This is similar to the reputation points. But instead of evaluating members individually, the rating system will rate individual topic. This allows two key factors to happen in this forum: 1) the topic will be evaluated by members for its relevance and usefulness 2) a member will spend extra time making a new topic and posting with quality contribution--which eliminates many redundant topics or spam topics. As you can see, if your topic can be evaluated by how much contribution or usefulness factor there won't be spam topics or topics with one-liner. A member will then spend some time carefully thinking about making a new topic and put some effort in by making a topic worthy of lengthy discussion. This benefits us all because not only it will stimulate, challenge and intrigue our discussions but the search engines will mark Xisto as the best source for various discussions. And that, my fellow members, is our ultimate goal :rolleyes:The final value of a rating is the average of total rates given.

Internet Explorer 7 reviews of IE 7 and its Betas
BuffaloHelp replied to haron's topic in The Internet
Personally I find tabbed browsing to be annoying. I mean my START bar can group similar programs together (which in my opinion the same as tabbed windows) yet no one uses them. It's because grouping in one place for multiple windows is annoying. So why force a program to tab multiple windows when no one uses grouping similar application in the first place? -
Could Not Connect To 2wire, Wireless With a HP ze4400
BuffaloHelp replied to xavierrd's topic in Computer Networks
When you say do you mean your laptop was connected to the router via wireless but cannot access to the internet or completely not connected to the router at all? It sounds like your laptop was not renewing or resolving IP from your router. Have you tried accessing Network Connections > double click your network > Support tab > Repair button? Another way is to ping your router, i.e. command prompt > ping 192.168.1.1 (or whatever your router's IP address) and see if it returns with a time value. You can manually reset your IP address of your machine by Command prompt > ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. -
I'm assuming I still remember how C's FOR LOOP works. You are dividing by zero as the first step. Therefore, it does not work. Your initial value of x is zero, and you're doing n % x == 0 which will not execute. And THEN it checks to see x < ...etc and add 1 value to x. But since it tried to divide by zero, this loop will stop to protect your computer from hanging.

In my personal experience, it doesn't matter which brand name product you go with. It's because these days, they all work just about the same. If I had a choice, however, I would pick Linksys. Linksys's router control panel offers more refined control over security and home networking settings. But the three major brand names I would go with are: Linksys, D-link and Netgear (not in particular order) for their price and functionality. As far as print server goes, here is where you drop the whop load of cash. HP 940 is both USB and parallel, as I recall. Print servers are usually expensive when you purchase it to link more than 10 or more computers. But, when it's between two computers I'd recommend http://www.netgear.com/products/consumer/per_wired_hm.php PS101 for parallel (CompUSA sales price $9.99 after rebates). I'm recommending parallel only because the print server price is cheap. You can choose USB but prices these days are $50 or higher. Here is D-Link's printserver http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ As you can see, these are just plain stand alone printserver without the traditional bulky router sized frame. Which is awesome when you have 1 printer to share. Linksys has printserver but they charge at least $80 and up. For USB printserver, Netgear's PS121 at $40. Of course, you didn't specify you were planning wired or wireless network system. Wired network system is usually the most inexpensive way to go. But you have to fish cables around your location.

Why would it be so tough? Since both websites are probably well established, why not make one redirect to another? In case of HP vs Compaq. HP was the majority merger, therefore purchased Compaq. So when you type compaq.com it redirects to HP's subdomain. The obvious Compaq's web page designed has changed but it leads to HP's subdomain. So the question is which hosting to keep... If the company A has better service, point domain name B to A's hosting or vice versa. It's not that hard. But it is important to keep both domain names at this point. The past visitors and search engine's cache still have both information and there's nothing professional about having a broken link or showing page that is no longer available. Besides, you can still have people from both site visitors and not lose them at all.Be sure to announce the merge as part of your welcome screen. As far as which name to keep well that depends on clauses both companies agreed. If you are keeping company A's name, then website A's address should remain. That should have been handled by closing lawyers already...no?

Computinghost Cpanel Login Question cant login - new account
BuffaloHelp replied to Kider's topic in Web Hosting Support
I guess my post didn't make it the first time. Please provide all settings when requesting for support. I may be repeating information that you may already know. I can see your website but just directory listing. This means that your site is now properly propagated. Therefore, your settings should be: FTP address: ftp.crucibleofheroes.com userid: crucibl password: provided to you CPANEL address: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ userid: crucibl password: provided to you -
I see what you're saying. As far as I know, if you tie another domain name to your Xisto hosting--thus having two domain names in one hosting account--when the new purchased domain name is called it will show your current home page. So, you are right you cannot have two domain names in one hosting showing two different index page (Xisto's hosting manager disallows that). As far as other concerns goes: the page can be cached for search and all other goodies except the bookmarked address will show addon.jlhaslip.trap17.com rather than NewDomainName.com and all other pages afterwards. And consequently, so will the cached search pages. This is one of the reasons why a hosting service costs more than a domain name. Having an individual hosting service is preferred by domain owners instead of sharing.
-
You need to associate Yahoo's domain name with your add-on domain. So, let's say you created addon.jlhaslip.trap17. Access Yahoo's domain control, domain control panel > forward domain > create forward and enter addon.jlhaslip.trap17. And that's it. You're done.Under your public_html you will see a folder named "addon" Your friend can treat that folder like his/her own public_html and start uploading index and other folders within "addon" folder.

Computinghost Cpanel Login Question cant login - new account
BuffaloHelp replied to Kider's topic in Web Hosting Support
If you have check the Xisto - Web Hosting support link, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ you will find the link to CPANEL on the left hand side. If you are trying to access cpanel using crucibleofheroes.com/cpanel you need to wait about 24-72 hours from the last nameserver update. Which means, if you just purchased your domain name it will take about that long for your name to be propagated through out the internet. This is normal.
