As a Professional Digital DJ I must say that the statement "full-fledged mixing station" makes me giggle! I know what a mixer is and I know what a mixing desk is…I have not a clue what a mixing station is! on the Belkin site they have a nice 3d image of a "proposed" product..like all those fancy "prototype" cars you see in magazines that never get made. Oh now I look closer maybe see what a mixing station means..looking at the high res image and looking at the actual knobs and the layout..I cant see any sliders! so a mixing station is a mixer without sliders. Theres knobs on there to basically mimic a set of sliders for the outputs of each channel..anyone who has used a mixer for more than an hour will tell you that is NOT the way to do it!! we use sliders for a reason..and its presice control and being able to use many faders at one time with one hand while you do something with the other hand..with this station you would have to use both hands at all times to mix one tune into another..how are you going to wave to the pretty girls dancing in front? how are you going to have that finger in the air moment as the beat comes crashing in after a break? So looking at the specs they say its 4 channel - so from left to right on the pic I can see 2 XLR connectors on the channels 1 and 2 it looks like channel 3 and 4 have 3.5 mm jack connectors like on a pc or ipod. Also because of using knobs and not sliders it would be impossible to mix 3 or 4 tunes together unless you are half octopus and had 4 hands! I cant see any buttons to switch inputs or such..only a button for phantom power..this is for non powered microphones. Have I got this ALL wrong but from whats been said about this Tune Station in other press releases I have just read while making this post.. this is ONLY a recorder? you stick mics in and say two CD players or two pc outputs and you can control the volume of each input..change the low, mid, and high tones and change the master output and recording level. So if thats the case you would have to have all this equipment already and just plug this thing to record mixes onto an Ipod…also no mention of the transport for the medium i.e. is it recorded in WAV? MP3? AAC? FLAK? I knew this couldn't be that you could play TWO tunes at once on your Ipod and and the same time record it…there is no way on this earth the HD would stand up to that amount of activity.. So I still don't understand why someone would have use of this product? why not just get some nice plugins for winamp and then if you have dual channel sound..just record it via the other channel. Then send the MP3 to the Ipod? its the same result and saving you the 180 dollars Belkin are trying to charge for this product.I would never buy an Audio product from a company that has NO track record at all in the audio world..Belkin make cables and accesories. Or you could use what I use and that is Traktor from Native Instruments. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Yes its 200 Euro but it really is the best digital mixing platform on the market..also I have a Midi mixer (with MANY sliders;)) which controls every aspect of the mixing process without having to touch the kb or mouse. And yes you can record everything, also you can record mixes and literally step them back a few seconds then overdub mistakes when you are recording then write the file out as a Wave file when it's perfect. So if you want to do some digital mixing use another product this toy from Belkin is not the answer. If you want to record to your Ipod, don't waste 180 dollars on this, there are much better things on the market such as M-Audio's Podcast factory then of course you could transfer the files you made to the Ipod afterwards..

yes indeed this is very strange!! I dont why its done this, is there a D:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DW folder? If not maybe try copying the E:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DW folder over there then open regedit and remake the key pointing to D:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DW then in the E drive rename the top level folder "program files" to something else...then I guess open up Visual C++ and see if its ok..hopefully it will then pull the files needed from the D drive.. Then do a shut down restart.. Then test Visual C++ again..if its all good I would then move the folder you renamed to D:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DW\backup then you have the files if needed again..if all else fails if Visual C++ crashes at odd times etc..then you may have to copy the folder back to the E drive an rename it... Grrr dont you just hate odd little windows errors like this!! not hard to work around..but just soo damm annoying!!! Also if nothing else works..uninstall it all...then run a reg cleaner...then go and check the reg manually for stray keys...then check all the path folders for any traces of folders for Visuall C ++ then delete if needed then do shut down and then reinstall it all again then check the reg again etc to see if its in the right place.. Good luck!! Marky;)

Wireless Connection Between 2 PC's (1 Km+)
Markymark2 replied to Chesso's topic in Hardware Workshop
I have laid long ethernet cables over 5 houses and into a neighbours house and it worked fine with a repeater (makes the signal stronger). The only problem belive it or not would be the difference in any between your houses power supply from the main system..in a business situation to link two buildings to another say in a big factory..Fibre instead of enternet cables would be used each time..this is to do with the difference in the earth or 0V supply..and potential difference could cause any card or router to spark over and cause a shock probably breaking the equipment..Also its a long time since i did my Essential Networking exams..but im pretty sure standard cat5 ethernet cable can only "officially" run at 100M heres some specs I dug up..Here are the 'offical' specs:(100Base-t IEEE 802.3u)100Base-T4 Category3 or 4 = 100Metres (4 pair)100Base-TX Category5 = 100Metres (2 pair)100Base-FX Multimode fibre = 2Km , single mode 10KmI know Cat5 can go further than 100m maybe 200m but then you start to open up packet loss issues and re TX of data so it goes really slow ;(Also you have to remember that you should only have 3 hops (ie three hubs or repeaters) between machines becasue then it will give you odd errors also..Also out on the street how are you going to power the repeaters or hubs>?Hmm this is not an easy solution ;( -
Mortal Kombat Vs Tekken Help me decide..
Markymark2 replied to DaEmOnFiRe's topic in Computer Gaming
ok i know i am old...but yes i had the first playstation the week it was released in europe...i got into Tekken but i had played mortal combat 1 in the arcade..I must agree with my ice skating freind jeigh on this one..I have literally played all of the tekken and Mk series from the start...imho Tekken wins!!! no two ways about it...it really is the better game..the better experience to play...my final words on the subject...my mind is a bit hazy right now but im pretty sure in Tekken 2 Jun can carry off a 42 hit combo move? or maybe its 35? but what i do remeber it was SOO freaking hard to pull off !~! ive literally had my mates throw a controller at my head as I play her and winding up into the combo move..they just know they are dead..but 40 moves later )) Tekken is like a night at the ballet with a beautiful woman and a bottle of vintage champagne.....Mortal Combat is a cheap slow dance with the desperate fat girl thats been standing at the bar all night watching you get drunk waiting for her chance to seduce you )LOL!!Marky;) -
Hey Gingica,Welcome to the world Of Windows Sharing ;*((Ive experinced the same bizare problems in the past with this!I think someone mentioned it earlier but the best thing to do now is..is if they are all connected..just make shortcuts to the diffenent pcs on the desktop and then you should be able at the click of a button arrive at pc2 or pc3 etc etc without any more hassle with putting ip addreesses in instead on machine names.Hey btw off topic did you get that game machine you bought for christams sorted out..I looked at the site that made that product and the instructions seemed very vauge? did you get it to connect and network in the end?Marky;)

Wireless Connection Between 2 PC's (1 Km+)
Markymark2 replied to Chesso's topic in Hardware Workshop
yeah thats my experience too of transmitters...to cover that distance you will need a huge power output from the transmitter..I believe Marconi make one that would do the job its a military grade Transmitter thats sold as an industrial one.Now for the next problems Encryption!! Depending on the law that you have in your country it maybe illeagle to encrypt any signal from the transmitter - which ofc you need to do!! Licences!!Licence when using a transmitter like this depending on your country..you technically become a broadcaster and need a broadcast licence!!Imho this is going to take a ton of money to do ;((( -

Well Ive talked this over with a few people here at asta and trap...We all seem to be coming up with the same ideas..we got a HUGE talent in these forums!!We are all involved in doing different things but as a team we would be able to tackle anything!!Heres the idea I was thinking of...Getting us together in a loose group with coders/designers/admins/promoters/ etc etc We list out whos best at what and what hours they can put in each week..We need to build a kick *bottom* portoflio site and then bid for work on places like Elancer.com.Theres loads of these types of sites out there that ask ppl to bid on different jobs..some small like making two new pages to bolt on to a site...designing a new banner for a site..making a joomla installation and uploading some templates..installing Redhat and monitoring the server remotly each day and installing any new software...making an interactive hotel booking system..a brand new site from top to bottom for a new company...etc etcYou see in these sites there is the ability to bid for a whole range of work for the group or just for certain individuals..ie bid on a lot of graphics work for the designers..bid on lots of db work for the coders..bid on whole site designs for all of us to work on..We could work out hours and time spent on tasks using some kind of project management system so we can all see whos doing what at any time..Payments could be very easy via paypal...or bank transfer to each other from a central paypal account.I am very interested in this idea because from the end of January I will be a reseller package holder from Xisto - Web Hosting and I am already having 5 clients ready to pay for it but as my business grows it will outgrow me and my partner and we will need a lot more people to deliver the work we will be bidding on..so forming a group here of like minded people ready to make some money for some time doing what they do best...its the perfect answer. What do you think guys? lets stop talking about this and get some action going!!Perfect time to make a new team..its a new year!!!Marky;)

Windows XP Exploit - Please Help.
Markymark2 replied to uapconsole's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Sounds like you need a firewall as well as some virus protection..what firewall are you using? the winxp built in one? if so get rid of it and get something like Zonelabs or Black Ice..Also I would do a deep scan with something like Adaware just to check whats eben left behind if anything by the exploit..my guess is that AVG has done its job because its one of the best anti virus on the market. -

Its still the same problem as yesterday mate ;( Make ONE image folder called Images and put ALL of your images in there..at the moment you seem to have some images in a BG folder..which is properly referenced so that shows up on the page ..but all the other images are in different folders that dont look like they exist.. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ = Success http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ = Success http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ = Failure http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ = Failure Because there is no "external" folder and no "icons" folder. -
cPanel ... I am Lost? help with Cpanel..iam lost
Markymark2 replied to joe.k's topic in Web Hosting Support
If I have a look at your domain I think i can see an obvious easy problem. I see errors on the page when it tries to load extra scripts.. /home/ogvista/public_html/index.php is where its trying to pull the file from..my guess is this folder doesnt exist or is in the wrong place. Go into your filemanager and then click on the Public_html folder..this is where all your site files should go ...your index should be in the root of this folder. You will not have to add the public_html in the URL it will just pull the index from the url http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I hope this helps out! Markyl;) -

Looks like your mixing and matching HTML and PHP. First of all you need to start your PHP code like this..<?phpand end it like?>That. My guess is that your trying to end your php code with a html tag like this. </html>
