My son is 11 and my partner and I are seriously alarmed at how he and his friends believe that it is OK to use internet speak in daily language. THE KIDS ARE TAKING OVER! Seriously though, their grammar and spelling are suffering and reduced to lazy acronyms and misspellings : "coz" "tomoz" "Please" "thng" outa" Even abbreviations are now misspelt. When has it been acceptable to text during class?????? Their teachers are seriously concerned and so we have banned MSN Watch this new generation dumb down the English language! I have tried LaCie, Freeagent, Comstar & Maxtor external HDD.The only one that died was the Comstar 500GB.. Working one second.. Dead the next. After only 3 months!The Maxtor 500GB and the Freeagent 250GB are satisfactory, but neither one has an on/off power switch. Which does come in handy.The LaCie 320GB has given me trouble free service for more than 2 years now.It's built tough too. I thnk you could pitch it at a wall and it would still work. The Maxtor and Freegate both have plastic enclosures.. The LaCie has an aluminum enclosure that I think dissipates heat better.And The LaCie also has the on/off switch..I'd buy another LaCie if I come across one at the right price.But unfortunately, I have run out of drive letters to assign external drives.. -reply by Ogden Nash

I see where you're coming from but saying that people who are straightedge force their beliefs on you is a generalization. Just because a few may try to force their beliefs it doesn't mean all of them will. If you don't like people who force their beliefs, using that logic then you wouldn't like christians(or any religion for that matter) because a few force their beliefs. Not all edge people have to listen to hardcore music and those who do, it may not make them feel depressed. Casual drinking does some liver damage even in moderation and can lead to bigger problems. Smoking weed, however much it's done is harmful as it can lead to lung cancer or other problems. Not having casual sex doesn't make someone completely depressed, many people would rather be in a loving relationship with someone and have sex with them rather than just a hookup. I do respect your views though, as I do of anyone elses. And yes, I know this is like 4 years after the post but I wanted to make my views known -reply by Adam

DragonsDid Dragons Ever Exist?I believe dragons do exist, even though there is much agaist the fact. They (as Laniczech said) are mentioned in the Bible, so what other creature breathes fire other than the Dragon? I have much reason to believe they do and though there are many forms of dragon behavior , due to the lack of writing in the days they may have existed, at least some must have been human friendly right? Thought the many skeptics don't belive it they must realize that they are depicted in much of Chinese culture. And the Tyranasaurus Rex having evolved into an bird? If that's believable then why wont people accept that Dragons are Dinosaurs that found no need to evolve or became the lizards we call our pets today? swollen ear/jaw problem....any ideas?I Need Some Help(medical)For the past couple of days, I have had itchy , popping ears. This was nothing new, and I assumed it was allergies. Yesterday, I was using a q-tip to clean my ears. My left ear seemed to have more discharge than my right ear, but, for some reason, I normally produce a lot of wax. Again, this was not alarming. The q-tip felt so good to my itchy ears that I shoved it in too deep. It hurt for only a moment, and then the small amount of pain subsided. About an hour later, I was eating a bowl of cereal when, ALL OF THE SUDDEN, the top part of my jaw directly in front of my ear lobe began to swell. In the period of about five minutes, it was the size of a walnut! I look like a freaking chipmunk with a walnut in my cheek. But, here is the funny thing. I have absolutely no pain, and my ears are no longer itchy or popping. The swelling goes down as long as I am not trying to eat something. When I eat, the swelling gets worse from the up and down motion created by my jaw when I chew. But still, no pain...Only stiffness that comes from the swelling. I rinsed my ear out with hydrogen peroxide and the swelling started to subside; somewhat. I also need to mention that I was diagnosed with TMJ as a child. I have only had one experience with it, and it was very painful. These symptoms seem similar, but wihout any pain. I do not believe that this is caused by my TMJ for the reasons stated above.( Itchy, popping ears in the beginning, q-tip issue, the fact that the hydrogen peroxide helped, and the fact that I have no pain) If you are one of those goof balls who has ever shoved something in your ear that didn't belong there, I would love to hear your advice or ideas. And, don't worry...I don't judge. Remember...I am one of those goof balls too! I also need to mention that I no longer have my wisdom teeth as they were cut out when I was 19. I have absolutely no mouth pain, and have never even had a cavity. I seriously doubt that any oral health issue relates to my condition. Please don't just tell me to go to the doctor, because that is obvious (even if I AM dumb enough to shove something in my ear) and I already have an appointment. I need your ideas!-question by Heather
