  1. Protect yourself use a credit cardReservation Rewards - A Scam!If you used a Credit Card and the charges appear on your account, call or write to your credit Card bank and file for an unauthorized charge. They will do all the legwork and get your money back. If you used a check or a debit card, then you are in for a battle since banks policy is that if you give your checking account number out, then you are giving them permission to withdraw from your account, and they will not help you. Remember AOL, free but give us your checking account number and routing code in case you exceed your free hours? Kind of scam, even back then. Rule of thumb, don't use a debit card for shopping, and don't write checks unless you absolutely have to. Use a credit card and pay the balance of each month. Get a rewards card so you get the convienence and some cash back. In the age of electronic banking, you can set up automatic minimum payments and then just initiate manual payments for the rest of the balance. Protect yourself, forget the debit card. -reply by Jmac
  2. Hi kids! You've probably all heard of Albert Einstein before. You may know that he was a scientist. You may know that he discovered something called "relativity" and has something to do with the equation "e=mc2." You may know that he looked kinda funny, and spoke with a German accent. You may not know any of this, but you will learn all about this amazing man in this article. You will learn about his character, or personality, and about his science. You will get to have a better understanding of relativity and you will know the meaning behind "e=mc2."To start off, think about science. When I say,"science," what pops into your mind? Do you create pictures of crazy-looking men in white lab coats speaking in funny German accents? Do you get images of dark laboratories crammed with bubbling liquids, curved glassware, test tubes, beakers and strange machines that gather electricity? Do you think of rocket ships and robots? Do you think about traveling into the past or the future? I'll bet at least some of these images come to mind. Perhaps you've seen these things on television or in movies, or read about them in books. These things are certainly all part of the world of science, but they are simply the results of science. Science is really more of a quest. Scientists are people who are questing to understand the world around them. Scientists are not crazy people who want to create death-rays that will help them to take over the world. They are not necessarily "nerds" who speak with high nasally voices, and who awkwardly knock things over. Scientists are really smart people who wish to know why things in the universe work.
  3. Okay, stop being lameHelp On Talking About Good TopicsI think you are being creepy. She is being polite, but if her friends are telling you she is bored it most likely means you aren't an inspired choice for her future boyfriend. I think you need to stop calling her all that much or stop all together. Instead of calling her on the phone all the time, asking her about her day like you are dating, start taking an interest in what she likes. You need to ask her if she is interested in you like that, because I think she is trying to subtly hint she does not like you or want to talk to you. You are being clingy. Now topics to talk about, things she likes. Don't ask her how her day was or repeat the same topic. No one wants that. You need to learn to master the artform of conversation. Also people on this site can't spell worth ****. People, I saw like a thousand mistakes. "Her" was supposed to be "she." Yikes. -reply by TareeKingyo

  5. is is worth the worry? The Mayan PredictionsI have been doing a lot of researching lately about the whole 2012 predictings and I cant help but imagine that this really might happen. So I started to look up other peoples belifes on it, hopeing to find some people who would have some amount of information proving the mayan calander wrong but over a long search I have relized that our people have studied it for 2000 years or more and it hasint been proven wrong yet. So I start thinking of ways to survive "doomsday" and I find that people have already started planning surviver groups to live out the year 2012 and I start to think about life after 2012. If this really happens. Would you want to live through it? we want to live because most people fear death, but is it more than wanting to live for love and family and friends? think about it... Like ive read off of other comments here, we live off of techknowlegy, we need it to live. Well after 2012 everything will be gone! everything. So lets say you survive 2012 with a few hundred people. A new life begins but this life will be lonley there will be no more luxuries of life like the mall or movies, cell phones, or any kind of techknowlegy we have today. Sure you will have food and water for a certain amount of time but how long could the resourses last? once "doomsday" begins supervolcanos (among many other super disassters) will errupt and the ashes from the supervolcanos will block out the sun for nearly 40 years. Life as we know it will be horrible. So why would you want to live in such horrible times? I wouldent. I think death would be better. I am done with the subject of 2012. I don't want to live my life in worry any longer. If we die , we die and I'm learning to accept it. But there is always a chance the mayanscould be wrong...-reply by Mark

  12. This discussion is very pointless actually. The law of nature is such that people always long for things they don't have or they feel is special. In a country where the majority population has blue/green eyes, they would actually love to have brown eyed people since for them its quite rare.Ditto reverse for a brown eyed population majority. So both colours will be respected by different people, since novelty is always beautiful. And also, most people with blue/green eyes have blonde or brown hair. And most people with brown eyes have black hair. Now you can say that black hair is more beautiful and mysterious than blonde/brown hair, infact making them more attractive looking. But,noone thinks like that.Beauty lies in the entire personality and not individual traits -reply by RAKESH.R

I thank you whoever you are! To fix this problem, change your setting on your FTP protocol to "Passive FTP" (It should be a box you have to click). However, I had to exit the FrontPage program and restart it before it worked. Yay! I had been trying to update numerous HTML pages to my remote website host for several months to no avail. 24. I am in the process of writing a VBScript to grab a text file and rewrite it into an XML formatted file and decided that for each part that I'm working on I would drop off a small snippet of my code that may or may not be handy for people. I know not many people use VBScript, but it's always handy to know, especially if you just want to create simple solutions using what your Operating System gives you. Note: These snippets have only been tested on Windows XP which is the platform I'm developing for, it may or may not work on earlier or newer operating systems. So the first thing I wanted to share is a simple solution to show you how you can create an Open File Dialog Box. Save this file as OpenDialog.vbs Option ExplicitDim objDialog, boolResultSet objDialog = CreateObject("UserAccounts.CommonDialog")objDialog.Filter = "Text File|*.txt"objDialog.FilterIndex = 1boolResult = objDialog.ShowOpenIf boolResult = 0 Then[tab][/tab]WScript.Quit 'Cancel was hitElse[tab][/tab]WScript.Echo("You chose: " & objDialog.FileName)End If This is all we need for this simple script. There's a few extra things I have added, just so I can explain what they do, even though they are not necessary to our script. I will now explain the script: Option Explicit turns on Strict Mode which helps insure that whatever variables/objects/etc you use are declared before you use them. This prevents variables being created on the fly, which is what would happen without Option Explicit and using Dim to define our variables. Dim objDialog, boolResult defines two variables that I want to use, objDialog to hold our dialog object and boolResult to hold our returned results on selection made from the dialog box, it only holds true (1) or false (0). They way I defined these variables is quite lazy, and if you are pedantic, it is ok to do: Dim objDialogDim boolResult Which is how I normally write my code, as it helps with readability, especially if you're going to define a large number of variables. Set objDialog = CreateObject("UserAccounts.CommonDialog"). There's two things to know about this, first CreateObject is a function provided by our scripting language, it creates an object from UserAccounts.CommonDialog. This object is then stored in objDialog using Set and now allows objDialog to be referenced as the newly created/initialised object. objDialog.Filter = "Text File|*.txt" is what most people want to know more about, the Filter is a property provided by UserAccounts.CommonDialog that allows us to limit what we want our users to select from. For example, say I wanted to show only movie format files, I could do: objDialog.Filter = "Video Files|*.avi;*.mp4;*.mov" "Video Files" is what I want to show our user in the Files of Type drop down, separated by the | (bar) then wildcard . (dot) file extension. In which I separate the files using a semi-colon to add more extensions to show in our display. objDialog.FilterIndex = 1 is code that I didn't need to have, as it is set as 1 by default. The reason I added it is to show you another feature that people would use. To explain it better I'll provide code: objDialog.Filter = "Text Files|*.txt;*.csv|Word Files|*.doc;*.dot|All Files|*.*"objDialog.FilterIndex = 2 The above code has three types of files we could show and also allow our users to select in the drop down menu for Files of Type, Text Files, Word Files or All Files. The FilterIndex, picks which one to use as default, 2 would select Word Files as default. Text Files = 1, Word Files = 2 and All Files = 3. boolResult = objDialog.ShowOpen stores our return value from the method ShowOpen which returns 0 if false (usually when cancel is hit) or 1 if a file was selected. If boolResult = 0 Then[tab][/tab]WScript.Quit 'Cancel was hitElse[tab][/tab]WScript.Echo("You chose: " & objDialog.FileName)End If This code above is what to do with our result. If it's false, e.g. cancel was hit. Then we just quit our script. Otherwise we will display a message box saying "You chose: " and the full path and extension of the file you chose. That's it for our simple Open File Dialog Box. Cheers, MC
