Why does the FAFSA EFC calculation work this way?

I'm going to have to agree with everyone who is against TCF. That bank has sent me around in circles for 6 days. My experience is a very long story but needless to say it didn't end very well for me. For TCF to tell me that my paycheck basically didn't exist because I made it after the 2pm cutoff time was ridiculous, but what was more ridiculous was the fact that they told me that they were still going to charge me an overdraft fee of 28 bucks on Monday even though I had made a deposit to cover my negative amount and leave the account positive. I didn't understand how that was possible. If the account is positive there should have been no reason for them to charge me another set of overdraft fees. All this happening because I didn't make their 2pm cut off time. And when i was talking to customer service and they told me my account would be charged again they said that there was nothing that they or i could do to avoid this. this only fueled my anger with the bank. I then went into the branch to close my account to which they informed me i couldn't because i had pending transactions. so i informed them that I would just wait for the payments to clear and then i'd close the account. i went in monday because thats when they told me the transactions were going to clear, however the payments hadn't cleared yet. so i informed the teller i wanted to withdraw my money but leave enough in the account to help pay for the pending transactions. she quoted an amount and i told her fine thats what i want to withdraw. she went through with the transaction and i also put a deposit only hold on the account because i had payments coming through and i didn't want to have any further transactions. so i waited till wednesday and looked at my account online and saw a transaction that hadn't cleared yet and another new transaction for an automatic payment. i called customer service once again and asked what was going on with my account. the woman then informed me that the automatic withdrawal would show up but that it would be rejected and that it wouldn't process. and then somewhere along the line of this terrible experience i discovered that this woman lied to me and that because i had an automatic payment coming through that there was no way to stop it. the customer service person then told me that i needed to deposit 4.71 before 2pm because if i didn't i'd get hit with yet another round of overdraft fees. I asked her how this was possible because i told the teller on monday to leave enough money to cover any pending transactions. she obviously didn't follow my request properly or maybe she didn't understand what i wanted. i then went into a branch to deposit the money even though i felt i didn't owe them anything. so i went into the branch and went up to the teller who turned out to be the assistant manager. i told her my account number and how i just wanted to make my deposit. she then tells me my account is negative. i asked her how that was possible and she told me she didn't know and that there was no way she could look at how this happened. at this point i was fed up and annoyed with everything i was experiencing. i've banked with tcf 6 years and never had as much trouble as i was having in these past 6 days. so then i call customer service for the second time on wednesday and spoke to another customer service rep. and once again they couldn't tell me anything about what was going on with my account. they then told me that they wouldn't be able to tell me what was going on until the next day. i then went into work the next day which i worked at the bank and went about my day and then as i left i told my manager i couldnt work with the company anymore to which he wanted to talk. i told him what happened and he was amazing and understanding and tried helping but the damage was already done and i felt like i couldn't trust any tcf employees anymore because they continually lied to me about my account for 6 days. he then showed me my account and we looked at it and guess what there was no 117.92 negative charge and the 4.71 was missing and so was my student loan payment. needless to say this pissed me off even more because now this was going on day 6 of being told different balances from various employees at different branches and within customer service. oh and here is the topper to the story my manager showed me the negative balance being 23 dollars and some cents. and you want to know why my account was negative now?! because the teller gave me more money than was available in my account on that monday i withdrew the money. i had 170 available and she gave me 193.29!! this caused my account to be negative and then guess what?! I got hit with yet another round of overdraft fees.. and this was not because i did anything on the account it was because the teller gave me too much money and THE BANK yes THE BANK caused me to go negative!!!! The teller ultimately reversed one of the fees because she admitted it was her fault but again the damage was already done. but now i finally closed the account and switched banks and i feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.if you or anyone you know has had a problem with TCF like this you can go to https://www.helpwithmybank.gov/ and file the complaint!!!

Hi I'm ayee and I'm 19. I've been dating this guy for 16months. I met him at summer class. He's really funny, kind and I know he loves me. Before, i was so happy being around him with such positive and loving atmosphere. After a year, everything changed. He brags about money that he's spending when I'm around, he's very moody and we fight almost everyday about simple stuff. Simple stuff, I mean even the choice of food we'll eat We used to stay at the same apartment for 4months and I think he was all tired up being with me all the time.
