I would suggest Linux Mint. The amount of software, applications and ease of use. Linux Mint being Ubuntu based OS using debian package manager. Configuration as well, setting up certain drivers and codecs for graphics cards and multimedia applications such as VLC that can run LAME, xvid, ffmpeg and countless others could be found easily. Where as OpenSuse you'd have to locate sources or have your wallet ready for such capabilities. As far as Desktop Environments KDE would be preferred for the new user. Gnome just has that authentic DE feel to it. If any reason to go with Linux Mint it is #1 on the distrowatch list. I always find using Debian package manager over Redhat package manager. You're more likely to constantly run into depenedncy issues when using RPM's.

on the tin, or in this case, the dictionary. You play a role. Don't try and tell me that whislt playing starfox you really pretend you're a fox-mutant saving the universe, you are merely beating the challenge presented to you by the machine. The characters and plot are there to make you understand the rules and what you're meant to be doing. CoD could just have enemies who were purple blobs that when they looked at you your character had to do a jig or be teleported ten feet into the sky. The problem with this is that it would be hugely confusing and people would need to read the rule-book to understand what to do. So they have Nazis with guns, and because it anchors itself in reality you understand immediately what to do. The point is this: just because you are controlling a character does not mean you are playing a role, the only way to play a role is to have choices, that actually affect the story of your character's life, since the story shouldn't exist until the player(s) play it, 99% of supposed rpgs do this, partly because it's super hard to do otherwise and create a rich, detailed and intriguing world. The only computer RPG game I've ever played was Arcanum, because I was playing a barbarian, even in my mind I was playing one, sometimes making bad choices in-game because of this. the same goes for anything else I could have played. Now I must emphasize that RPG's are not better than other games, and I would like to answer the question what about tabletop rpg's where the DM railroads the plot, or Rollplaying? . Welp you're completely right to question, these aren't RPG's in my opinion for exactly the same reason as above. -

I had a dream, the other night, that I was leaning on a sort of make up table painted white in a stark white room. There was the center mirror and the two folding mirrors. parently, I was on my iPhone with the devil. He was telling me something about when I would die. I looked at my face in the mirror which appeared the same yet more clear... Beautiful even. I smirked and asked the devil, "So, this hell... Will I like it there?" My eyes turned yellow and my pupils turned to vertical black slits. Unfortunately, I wasn't lucid at the time, but early in the dream did have a brief period of lucidity.

Both games are great but it largely depends on what console you have. If you own a PS3 then Call of Duty is your game as it is slightly better on this platform but on the Xbox 360 console Halo is definitely more worthwhile. But both games are worth a try:Halo has a good story line (however stereotypical) with memorable characters and a diverse selection of enemies and environments. Something that Halo has that Call of Duty doesn't is drive-able vehicles, Warthogs and Scorpions and even the alien vehicles are pretty cool. The weapons of Halo are pretty basic and some are unrealistic. Multiplayer is very good as it has a variety of game types (Like slayer, ctf, juggernaut, infection, firefight etc,) and the ability to customize different variables like gravity, unlimited, limited or even bottomless clip ammo. However I like the diverse selection of weapons within each class in Call of Duty, the perks and killstreaks, and then the experience system (something Halo has just included). The customization options aren't as good as they are in Halo but are still good all the same.If you like running around as a super-soldier,bred to fight aliens that have attacked your home threaten the very existence of humanity then you'll want to buy Halo Reach (Or wait 9-10 months for Halo 4) or if you want the best experience in modern combat without the downsides get Call of Duty.I hope i helped to clear some confused minds.

I'm a Ruby on Rails developer who will be lavieng Site5 as soon as possible. People can be emotional when discussing poor web hosts, but I'll stick to the facts.Uneducated choices in software:Ruby version 1.8.5Rails version 1.2.5These are both UNSTABLE releases. Production releases are even-numbered for these packages. The production versions are ruby 1.8.6, and rails 1.2.6.Outdated software:The current rails version is 2.10. Rails 2.x has been available since November of last year, and can easily be installed alongside older versions of rails.Poor Support:There is no phone support for tech, only for sales. Their ticket system's response time is awful. I have an active ticket right now, my sites are DOWN. Here are my wait times after supplying the info they request:Initial Ticket: 6 paragraphs explaining a problem with 8 apps across 4 accounts.Entire Response (10 hours later): Please provide us with some examples of site not working and we'll look into the issue. My Reply: provided 8 failing applications on the server, and suggested that their outdated and unstable releases of ruby and rails might be a cause.Entire Response (4 hours later): Rails 1.2.5 is installed on this server. If you want another version you will need install this yourself into your own account. My Reply: I explained that their answer does not help, and with 8 applications (unchanged for months) failing across 4 different accounts, it is clearly a server issue.Their Response (5 hours and counting): none yet.I'd be happy to provide a verbatim transcript of this trouble ticket upon request. If the last 24 hours were my only downtime for the year, this would be about 99.7% uptime (not good). Of course, my sites could have been down for as long as 3 weeks, which is the last time I saw them working. I just noticed they were down yesterday. Also, I've had 3-4 days of downtime this year, and server requests for rails apps often fail randomly.Make your own judgements. I'm strictly offering you the facts on my experience with Site5.

This girl I've only known for a few months has somehow managed to get me to fall completely in love with her. but I'm to scared to tell her this even though she has already admitted to liking me and tells me she loves me every day i play it off as a joke. She has asked me about my feelings for her and I don't know how to say I like her in a way that doesn't make me seem emotional and all because that's definitely not what she likes. Any suggestions

Thank You for your Great Topics."For at least 2700 years, honey has been used to treat a variety of ailments through topical application, but only recently have the antiseptic and antibacterial properties of honey been chemically explained. Wound Gels that contain antibacterial honey and have regulatory approval for wound care are now available to help conventional medicine in the battle against drug resistant strains of bacteria MRSA. As an antimicrobial agent honey may have the potential for treating a variety of ailments. One New Zealand researcher says a particular type of honey may be useful in treating MRSA infections. Antibacterial properties of honey are the result of the low water activity causing osmosis, hydrogen peroxide effect, and high acidity. Honey may also be used to alleviate the effects of a sore throat, by mixing with lemon juice and consumed. The mixture coats the throat alleviating discomfort, and the antibacterial, antiseptic properties are good for the throat as well."Honey contains copper, iron, silica, vitamin B, manganese, chlorine, calcium, potassium, sodium, phosphorous, aluminum and magnesium. Depending on the part of the world where the honey comes from, honey will vary in mineral content.

People play video games to escape from reality or meaning of live. Games often are an easier world, often destructive with reincarnation (respawn). That's not reality. In reality construction is always more powerful (If you don't think so, I've a 2 page A4 proof) and therefor there is no reincarnation (would be unfair for people how get it right their first life and justice (construction) reigns with existence. They are dependent on each other).Stop playing, face hard reality, be constructive, productive, creative. Escaping only make your problems worse. Games are like drugs. They are destructive and cause addiction.

2d Perspective Viewing things in one dimension?
iGuest replied to jaychant's topic in Science and Technology
I wonder where is the Center of Gravity in 2D and how do the 2D beings visualize it? According to Flatland and other 2D analogies, the 2D beings seem to float along their plane (and not grounded over the line at the bottom of the plane - in fact flatland analogy doesn't have any line as the starting boundary of emergence to the 2D beings. The plane is infinitely expanded in all four directions). Where as in our 3D world, we are grounded on a surface (in contrast to what I thought the 2D beings should have grounded over a line as a second version of flatland analogy) and our center of gravity is below our feet.So where is the center of gravity in the 2D world? And how the 2D beings visualize it? Are they unaware of the concept of center of gravity itself? Is Center of Gravity insignificant in flatland? According to flatland analogy, if at all there is any center of gravity (as I see) it seems like it is in a direction perpendicular to the body of 2D beings (and not below their feet), but strangely the flatlanders cannot visualize that direction! And also I'm surprised at one more thing. A flatlander is always in a threat of attack from all 4 directions around him (Another being can easily stamp over his head by moving around him) whereas in our 3D world, the direction of attack is limited to left-right, front-back. The top-bottom attacks are possible only if we use airways, missiles and explosions. (In brief, all flatlanders can literally fly in their world, where as in our world we have both living forms. OR is there a possibility that even the 2D World has both living forms?)One more thing... How do a flatlander greet and shake hand with a friend in his land? It is only by touching each others hand through a linear contact, and they can't cross over the hands (because it needs a third dimension to do so)Also they tell the view of 2D beings is 1D. So even a square will look like a vertical line (or horizontal line). But I'm not clear how it will appear to them (Vertical or Horizontal). But in any case, the line will have a thickness (and that thickness should exist in the third dimension - I mean 3D). But then the 2D beings will not remain 2D in this analogy! So we have probably not understood the 2D concept (at least me) let alone 4D.A 2D being would understand a square by moving around it and seeing 4 nodes (and 4 edges) and will visualize a circle again by moving around & not finding any sharp node. But a 2D being would not be aware of the full picture (face on) of a 2D Shape (if I am not wrong). Likewise shall we say we have not actually seen a sphere's shape properly. To do that we may have to get into the 4D world?I also feel that if a flatlander is rooted to ground (line) in their plane (center of gravity over a line), then their movement will be limited to only one direction (front & back). The other movement will be flying above and digging the ground. Life becomes really difficult/tedious then! Overtaking someone becomes impossible (unless you jump or fly over him). So I think the floating flatland analogy is better served.I have several other doubts regarding 2D analogy (Probably I'm failing to understand the 2D analogy fully just like 4D. Do others also feel the same OR can I be clarified?) -
(Sorry for posting.xD) I have a few, actually. I'm pretty prone to accidents. I used to play baseball. We were practicing for a game against a team that was undefeated so far. I have to admit, we weren't the best team, but we were pretty darn good...if they didn't have me! Anyway, we lined up behind the batter, taking turns on running, and, after a minute or two, I was next. Lucky me, 3rd base man, my mortal enemy, yelled at the pitcher, "Throw harder, not like a pansy!" She did, and she threw hard. I was looking at my brother on 1st base. The ball hit my left temple, and I fell to the ground. I didn't realize what happened, so I got up, and suddenly felt dizzy. I felt a terrible, absolutely horrible pain tear threw the left side of my face, and my left eye closed. I groped the side of my head as the pain became more intense. We won the game, at least. Then, there was a time where I was young, and stupid. Oh, maybe 8 years old. My new chick friend talked me into swinging on a rope swing over a poorly set asphalt rode. We were playing some angel and demon game, or something. One of us stood up holding the rope, and called down to the other if they could come and ride the thing or not. I can't remember it completely, but she always had to come up to catch me when I swung back because I was short, and I couldn't set my feet on the little dirt 'platform' she made. I was afraid to jump off the rope onto it, as she always did. She convinced me to try it alone. I did. As I swung back, my feet landed directly on the platform. The decaying leaves caused my feet to slide, and I swung back over the street. I attempted to hold onto the rope, but my hands got too sweaty, and I fell almost 16 feet to the asphalt below. My chin landed in a crack down the rode. My right arm was twisted below me, and my left was twisted onto my back. I heard her tell me to get out of the road quickly. I did, not realizing how hurt I really was. My right knee was split open, bleeding terribly. My chin was cut, my right arm wouldn't do what I told it, and my left was torn up. When I finally limped to her house, she told me to spit. I spit blood, and only blood. I had bitten my lip, or tongue, or something. I didn't feel pain at all. There were these 3 or 4 women that lived next door. They were kind, and awesome. My brother and I called them, "The Punk Chicks" because they kind of looked punk-like. Well, they had a new roommate, and she was blonde. That's all I remembered of her appearance. They had a really men border collie, I think that was what it was. Well, I was deathly afraid of that dog from what happened to me when I was 4-5.(The story below.) Anyway, that's when I felt the pain. My right arm felt weird, as if a million ants were crawling on it or something, but it hurt. When we got into the house, I was already crying. The new girl was the only one home, I think. She took my hand, and led me to the bathroom, my friend had my other hand. She said, "Squeeze my had as hard as you can when it hurts, okay?" She drove me home, and my arm was wrapped up. I didn't go to the hospital, and my dad said my arm was probably sprained, or fractured. Whenever I tried taking the cast off, it stuck to my arm painfully so I had to wet it down before it would come off, lol. Anyway, I'll make this short! When I was 4-5, there was a giant fire, it was called the Old Fire(look it up on google, it was terrible!). We were evacuated, and I only took my bunny, and our pets of course. I still have that bunny! Anyway, we had to stay at an airport. My mom and Dad were on TV! A long with me, and my brother and 2 sisters. We were then offered a place at my mom's friend's house. They had 2 dogs, we had 1. I was eating a sucker, and I went to see the dogs. They had a male and female. The male grabbed my sucker, and, stupidly, I continually smacked his head. He turned, and lunged at me, grabbing my head. All I remember was seeing black. I was then lifted into my Dad's arms, and my mom got the dog's attention, it attacked her too. I wet my pants.XD Anyway, while we were driving I saw blood behind my Mom's ear, I asked why she was bleeding and she told me it was my blood. I didn't feel any pain at all! I was looking out the window, and we passed the hospital, going to the clinic thingy at the airport. The lady told me while she put alcohol on my skull that it was going to either tickle, or hurt. It tickled.O.o We stayed at the airport after that. Just recently, my mom informed me, "We didn't go to the hospital, because you told us you didn't want the dog put down." If we had gone to the hospital, the dog would have been put down. Thanks for sitting threw this borein' stuff.
