  2. I don't believe in benefits from this, and like I said before all of this is fairy tale gibberish. How can we possibly "save" millions of dollars? Firstly, the cost of this thing would be horrendous, and I don't believe it's free to travel up however-many-miles it takes to get to space. The whole project in itself is unsafe and would be undesireable by a majority. In addition imagine the elements this object would go through. Obviously we are aware that as we climb the elements change (weather, wind, and up 30 miles God-knows-what...) The stress just from nature's elements would be of significance. I'm all against the stupid space studies we do anymore. Why in the heck are we sending some spacecraft to roam around Pluto??? Why not use that money to stregthen our economy? Why not halt the project and buy each American a couple loaves of bread instead? NASA is unbelievable...I wish I could blow off hundreds of millions of dollars just because I was curious about something... Why don't we examine our own planet before venturing off onto others? I think Earth has a level of importance incomparable to anything else other than our sun...
  3. Hmm, looks like I may have to learn how to use FTP I guess...Guess I was a little idle when version 2 came out...I don't care what anyone says, I enjoy IPB and to learn how to modify another forum would frustrate me.Well, I guess I'm always up for learning how to do new things
  4. I love IPB's but I would never pay for one. I don't use FTP for anything and I'll admit, I've never used it. I can't find IPB in Fantastico, has it been taken out of our add-on selection?...I am so familiar with IPB that I don't want to have to start learning the in's and out's of another forum software nor learn the usage of FTP .Is it possible to make my life as a webmaster here easier?
  5. Ah, good 'ol April Fools Day, a day where pranks are plentiful and the people immature . Back in my grade school days I frequently traded pranks with people, especially my family. One day I came home, sat my parents down, and told them I had gotten a girl pregnant! And they believed it! Another time I had dyed my hair a disgusting purple and showed it to my dad before work, telling him this was going to be my new look. Knowing that he absolutely would hate me for doing it, I did it (only it was a wash away dye that would go away just by showering ). Interesting story you gave us. I was never actually sure how April Fool's Day came about, but I'm sure I've heard the story, probably a long time ago though. This will be an interesting thread, maybe we'll get a variety of pranks I can possibly use this upcoming April
  6. To any hockey fan, one can only recognize Mario Lemieux as one of the all-time greats, if not the greatest. For over 17 NHL seasons, Lemieux left hockey fans delighted with skills incomparable to any other big man to ever play the game. His size, speed, vision, stick-handling, and powerful shot were a combination of tools we may never see in a player again. Surely we can all say that he wasn't the greatest as Wayne Gretsky is so far ahead of everyone statistically, but in the end, Lemieux's adversity from injuries and life-threating diseases along with his on-ice success leads me to believe he is the all-time greatest. His natural ability to make any player who plays with him a star can not be matched with Gretsky. For years, Gretsky played with the best of the best, having numerous Hall of Famers on the same line, while Lemieux quarterbacked a group of inexpensive players and turned them into great ones. My favorite moments of Lemieux include his final home game back in 1997, when he first retired. With the Penguins about to win their game, the fans stood and cheered for Lemieux after a tribute to him on the jumbo-tron. The fans cheered for 5 minutes straight, even during gameplay and he was on the bench. Then, as he stepped onto the ice, Ian Moran fed him a pass leading Lemieux on a breakaway, the fans now roaring at a deafening volume. Lemieux ended up scoring on that breakaway, sending all of Pittsburgh crazy. It was one of the more memorable goals in NHL history. I also remember his first game back after a 3 year-long retirement, in Decemeber 2000. A 3 year layoff was not enough to keep him from setting up a goal just 30 seconds into his first game back! He would go on to finish his first game back with 1 goal and 2 assists, and in his second game he had a goal and 3 assists!Lemieux is an all time great and will surely be missed. As a hockey fanatic, I only hope he recovers from his heart ailment and stays involved in a national spotlight. Hockey needed Lemieux, but his time had come. He will surely be missed. Thanks for the greatness Lemieux...
  7. I simply enjoy going to Yahoo! Sports and checking up on updated news in the world of sports. It's actually my homepage as well. I only really browse a selected few sites, including this one , my email, espn.com, and of course, my true destination, IPBGaming.com. If it wasn't for my love of sports, IPBGaming would surely become my homepage.
  8. Yeah I'm staying here . I'm basically going to work with both my Xisto website and the new one over at Xisto - Web Hosting. I'm not leaving anytime soon . I just found a gold-mine type of project I think will be successful with some time, effort, and most likely some help
  9. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm now with paid hosting with Xisto - Web Hosting. The site is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and I'm getting started with the project right away. Your services are great OpaQue and because I'm so familiar with everything here I went with you.I'll still be here on the forums chit-chatting and giving help when needed, I'll still have my Xisto site running for awhile but nevertheless I enjoy the community. When my project is completed I'll surely let you all know!
  10. I'm not a science goof nor am I slightly interested in science, but this all seems like a nice little fairy tail story to read to the kiddies at bedtime. Honestly, this whole idea sounds quite ridiculous. Firstly, the money spend on this project would be a total waste, and it would be A LOT of money, no doubt. The issue of the elevator breaking down would be troublesome indeed, due to the fact that many of our aviating devices cannot fly at such a incredible altitude. It would be extremely difficult to fix a problem at the crest of our atmosphere and we would need to develop a craft that is capable of flying at such an altitude, which I believe hasn't been done nor will be in the near future. (Maybe I'm wrong there, but hey, like I said, I'm no science goof).Ultimately what we're looking at is a huge costly project that will have little benefit, only providing us an opportunity to say "look what we can do". Right now the whole idea is what I mentioned earlier, a fairy tale. It would be hard to even write a realistic fiction on it...But hey, this is what our society has become. We live in a world of competition. Everyone comes up with new ideas that try to out-do everyone. Heck, if we do ever make this pathetic elevator, the next thing we'll try to do is extend it to Mars, so all the little martians can travel back and forth...
  11. This is just another case of why our whole justice system is pretty much terrible. Wasn't it in either Indiana or Illinois where a group of students did research where they found that many "criminals" on death row where actually innocent, and after some DNA testing, the proof was there. (Someone please clarify this story). My guess is that at least 25-30% of today's criminals are actually innocent people. Now this may seem disgustingly wrong, but that's just my opinion. In today's world anyone can be found guilty, it's a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time or simply by breathing air. As long as your alive, you could be a target for being accused of something you actually didn't do...And you just have to feel bad for this particular man, missing the prime years of his life, spending them where it wasn't deserved. If he isn't compensated to the tone of at least a million bucks, he has truly been served wrong, and if I was in his shoes, I would do everything possible to sue anyone I could...
  12. Issue resolved gentlemen! After quick review, topic can be closed and deleted if desireable...(I'll request help better next time...but hopefully I don't need it )
  13. Just to let Buff and OpaQue know that I've been in positive credit amounts since I began here and I was at 2.?? something when my website was terminated. Seeing that maybe the script went wacko or the server burped or whatever, I gained a few more credits to put me above four. That was last night. Now I know the credit thingy will update hourly(?) so my site should've been unsuspended by atleast early this morning, yet that has not been the case. If you could just look into the situation I would be most pleased, and if this cased is solved both of you will be up for some Valentine love
  14. In honor of wild's post I must congratulate my Steelers on their AFC championship victory, 34-17 over the Denver Broncos. Despite Bill Cowher's horrible AFC championship game record, Pittsburgh is off to Detroit in attempt to hand Jerome Bettis the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy. It's a cinderella story for the Steelers as they have won their last 7 games, 6 on the road. They are the first #6 seed to reach the Super Bowl and first to have beaten the #1, #2, and #3 seeded teams in their conference. Is it destiny?, we'll surely find out.Don't doubt me when I say the Steelers will be playing a home game in Detroit. Steeler Nation will be out in full force, and trust me, I bet 80% of America will be cheering on the Steelers :(Super Bowl Sunday is two weeks away. Grab your Terrible Towels and cheer on one of the more classier organizations in professional sports, and lets get that one for the thumb!!!
  15. It really depends on how many replies there are in a certain thread and also my desire to read all of them I try to read everything before I reply but mainly anytime I respond to a thread I respond to the initial post. Another factor is whether it's a help situation where someone is looking for assistance. A lot of times when someone is looking for some help, whatever it may be, they'll probably get a bunch of different answers, and in that case, you have to read through everything and determine whether the advise given is correct or not. Also in that case you want to read though just in case your thoughts on the topic have already been covered...which makes you look dumb if you type in the same thing another member did...
  16. I usually use Google to research for projects and term papers in college. There's no particular "same" search phrase I'll use, but lately I type in the name of my forum to see its rank and stuff...
  17. PM a moderator that has been around for a long time, they'll give you the right response since one of them was most likely to have banned you. As for your shoutbox banning, why would you want unbanned...to cause more trouble. You have a poor reputation evidently on this site and especially on IPBGaming, where you were banned there as well. If you are unbanned, I hope the next time you're banned it is permanent.
  18. Pixar has made fanstastic films that are geared towards all audiences. I think this is a good move by Disney because I don't think they can compare to Pixar films currently. Their generated characters are so realistic is amazing. And yeah the lamp is their logo...
  19. The credit system and posting stuff here can be confusing to new members at times but for the most part I don't understand how a member can be confused. Heck on the index page it pretty much tells members what they need to do in order to remain hosted, although if they aren't hosted they need to look around for an info thread...When I came around ages ago I picked things up automatically and didn't need much help. All it takes is a little searching and you'll find everything you need to look for...sometimes people are just so lazy...I've never done a credit transfer nor would I ever want to. People should earn their own credits and to give them away is wrong in my view. If you post and post and post then you've earned the right to be inactive over the given span, but if credits have been transferred to a member I don't feel its right for them to be able to be inactive...unless they paid for their credits. When I feel I don't have the time to be around anymore I'll just have to call it quits (although I doubt that'll ever happen) but if you have to scrap for credits by use of transfer then I don't believe you've earned the right to be/remain hosted...Just my thoughts, but good topic anyway...
  20. I leave my computer on all the time and the first time I turned it off was a couple days ago when I left town for 2 days...other than that I'd say my computer had been on for about 3 weeks straight. My computer is over 2 years old and it runs like it is brand new. For the most part noise is never a problem and it seems as if my fan is never on, although I know it has to be or else I'd be fried :blink:But hey, my computer is at the parents place, and I'm commuting this year to college classes, so they're paying the bills, unlike last year, when I paid to leave my computer on 24/7. So I have no problem with leaving it on
  21. I like the flip phones because I think it provides added protection for your phone, although sometimes the flip can break off and you're left in frustration...that's what happened to me this summer, when my phone snapped in half and all I was left with was a tiny wire holding my phone together. Only after calling upon highly successful duck-tape I was able to continue using it...I think the standard cell phones (non-flip) are a tad bit outdated and it's kind hard to find one that is comparable to flip phones these days...with camera and camcorder possibilities like flip phones have...I just renewed my contract and got a nice phone from Verizon...the Samsung A950. It's got one of those MP3 players and I can record up to an hour of video and over 1500 high quality pictures (with the memory card)...I don't know if you could find quality like that in non-flip phone these days...
  22. It's good that members that have been around for a long time...most of 2005 that is, received the awards...now this should not offend those who are currently really active, but members come and go at Xisto like crazy, the one's who register and stick around are the people who need to be recognized. Buffalo, you've done so much since coming on and your advancement to admin was well deserved. Your dedication is well noticed. SM although I dominate you in arcade battles I do have some respect for you . Good job being extremely active and making a positive environment for everyone who visits, from the newbies to the long-time members, all recognize what you do here and it's been nice to see you back in the moderating position.
  23. Wow, emotion. What a great little email, thanks for sharing that. I kind of fit right into that story as well...only I've been told by the girl that she wants to be just friends (we've been friends since 5th grade), and I'm in college....
  24. Well just one more way we throw money out the window...but hey, let's see what's out there I guess...not that we can't look through equipment here on Earth to see distant planets or anything . NASA has too much money on their hands...

    Im New!

Welcome to the forums zedisha. As mentioned by our fine moderator, when you post please contribute. One liners here don't flow real well and it doesn't help your credits or your reputation. Other than that, welcome and go ahead and tell us a little about yourself. Hope you enjoy your stay
