  1. I know of a way to solve Global Warming. Very easy.Simply corner off half of the pacific ocean, freeze it, chop it in half, then use heaps of planes and helicopters to dump that MASSIVE ice block ontop of Antarctica and on top of the North Pole. Problem Solved. ^_^On the other hand, if you wanted to kill 6 billion people easily just drop a nuclear bomb on top of Greenland and Antarctica.OK, OK I know I am being mean, hehe :PI think we have caused Global Warming. We caused pollution and we are stuffing up the world. Is it any coincidence that our population has suddenly skyrocketed as industrial revolutions skyrocketed, air pollution jumped, trees destroyed, ice shelves snap in two and sink... we are the cause.Look at some of our most populated places and how disgusting they are (in terms of air pollution). We caused this, not nature.Although the earth may slowly be naturally warming up, we definitely have sped up this process.
  2. Hi all,I am unsure with my subject choices.. we had to pick 4 subjects, as well as Maths and English (making a total of 6, as well as Religious Education and House Study- i don't consider them subjects as such) so we had to pick them mid-last year, so I chose Geography, Modern History, Economics and French. Now I picked Modern History because it gives you lots of practice in essay writing, researching and referencing which is good for our OP (and QCS tests) and later life. I got a B+ when we did history for half of last year (and geography for the other half). But I have found it very difficult and got a C+ for our exam and a bad mark for our assignment (1,500 words on Nazi Germany, as well as 15 pages of notes and other crap) but we haven't got the marks back but I know I am going to go really bad as the teacher said my first draft was pure *BLEEP* when I showed him, so I did more researching and rewrote it, and stayed up till 2am on the night before fixing it, and I struggled to reach that 1,500 mark and I know what I submitted is bad... and because next year (year 12) the marks we get in subjects DO INFLUENCE OUR OP! And if I get a bad OP, it means I am limited in what I can study at university. This year I am in year 11, and for Semester 1 all subjects do not count for our OP, and in Sem 2 some do (not all, history doesnt). If I am struggling this year and cannot cope, with bad marks, I hate to think of what it will be like next year when EVERYTHING counts and all subjects are full on. So if I do bad at History next year, my OP is pretty much down the drain. I have asked my friends what they think- one of them does History like me and Legal Studies and the other does Legal Studies. The one that does History is not sure what I should do, and the one that does Legal said I should switch to that... as Legal Studies also gives you good writing practice etc. I am unsure about switching because I don't really want to be a lawyer and find law completely boring. (I did Commerce last year, which is a mix of all the business subjects (Legal Studies, Business (NON OP), Economics and Accounting) and although I was alright at the Legal Studies component, I just didn't find it fun. But as both my friends do Legal Studies, it could be good as we could all study together So what do you think? Stay in Modern History and potentially *BLEEP* up my life, or switch to Legal Studies, which could be really boring and I am unsure of how I will go at it.Thanks, any advice is appreciatedLachlan (aka. A200)EDIT: One issue with switching is that I have missed out a term of LS, and I would have to catch up... and also changing subjects means I could be moved in other subjects as well.
  3. I don't think it is wrong, people have a choice on who they like and want to spend their time with. You must also consider what defines gay. Is it who guys who are devoted to each other and live together, but not necessarily having sexual relations? Or is it that if you had 1 gay experience, you are gay for life? I see nothing wrong with two people who have a genuine love for each other, there is nothing wrong with that. The people who are all like 'OMG OMG OMG EWWWWWWWWWW!' should just take a hard look at themselves, and if they think two people of the same gender having a relation is horrible then they can think the same about you!People should respect other peoples choices and preferences, and if they have an issue with two guys loving each other, then they must be one very intolerable person...A200
  4. The last movie I saw was not in the cinemas but at home, and that movie was Transformers.. lolBefore that I watched High School Musical 2, Suddenly 30 etc. all of which my sister was watching. There aren't many movies out in cinemas so i don't really want to go out and see one at the moment
  5. Why post to a topic 3 years old? I love it when people sue large companies... people power!
  6. I knew about 2 of those hoaxes, but that many? wow..I wonder who's idea each were and how long they spent preparing it!
  7. I use WinRAR, and have been doing so for many years, I will NEVER use WinZIP, it is just plain annoying to use and is too complicated. I don't like it.WinZIP is just easy to use... I like its look and is fast and error free.Je l'aime
  8. We have a few cars,My mum has a 1989 White Mitsubishi Pajero, it is really old and is full of problems and is unsafe to drive, we never use it. I think my mum got it in 1990.We also have a white ancient Jaguar thing, doesn't work at all and is under the house, it has also been occupied by spiders now for years... I think the last time it was driven was 1999. We can't even get it out because it is covered in crap. I gather it was bought in 1985 or something...My dad drives a White (yes we have a lot of white cars) Manual Diesel Mazda 6 that we got in July 2007, we use it a lot when going around, except the seats really aren't that comfortable and the clutch thingy is really really hard to push.Lastly, we have a Green/Blue 1996 model Subaru Impreza which my mum bought from her sister last year... we use it a lot as well. Those are our cars
  9. Yes I believe when we die, we will return to live again, whether it be this dimension or another one we have never discovered, but definitely I believe we go some place!A200
  10. I agree, SMF died with SMF2.0... it just isn't nice. I was hoping for a brand new signature look... all I got was the same old same old but with a new touch that really doesn't fit it. It's like phpBB3 using the old SubSilver style from phpBB2 on as phpBB3 as well... doesn't work.I might try AEF, but I don't think there are any current converters to it yet...
  11. I really am unsure now reading people's comments.I really don't want to be gay... but I half am... this is weird...I don't really want to encounter an 'experience' at all... hey ill stop watching it as well and see how I go when I was younger I never even considered the possibility that I was *person* but now I just don't know....
  12. Hi all,I have a big question I need to sort out... What is considered gay?I have been asking myself this for ages, am I, or aren't I?Ok I like to watch gay porn (ok I hope noone I know is reading this , is it possible to have this topic hidden after its been answered ??? just so noone reads it who knows me and spreads rumours) but the thing is, I only like it if its only 1 person... I find the whole idea of two guys putting their thingy up other peoples you-know-what to be revolting... but I get turned on by boys with fit hot bodies... and kissing as well, but the thing is, I have no personal desire to have gay sex with anyboy and if a boy tried to kiss me I would run and hide... I find chicks hot, I used to have a girlfriend a few years ago but I went to high school and haven't contacted her since (I don't think it was considered girlfriend status as we never went out, never kissed and only touched each other like, what? once, which was a hug I think when she was upset). But I never warm up at all to porn with chicks in it, and don't get sexually stimulated by the sight of one... but I do find them 'hot'...Am I gay? Am I straight? Or am I bi (!!!!!!!). I don't really consider myself gay or bi, I am unsure! HELP!It is wierd... I can stand the sight of a penis, but I cannot stand the sight of a vagina... I am one mixed up person. Can anyone help? PLEASE? This is one confused 16 year old here

    Hello!

    Welcome to Xisto
  14. Hi all,On Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 8pm (local time wherever you are) a lot of cities and businesses around the world will turn ALL lights off for 1 hour. Aka all appliances will be turned off, and the CBD's will be plunged into darkness (I think street lights will be kept on though). * Aalborg * Aarhus * Adelaide * Atlanta * Bangkok * Brisbane * Canberra * Chicago * Christchurch * Copenhagen * Dublin * Manila * Melbourne * Montreal * Odense * Ottawa * Perth * Phoenix * San Francisco * Suva and Lautoka * Sydney * Tel Aviv * Toronto * VancouverThis is meant to be a 'smart' solution to greenhouse gases and spreading awareness, however one must consider what this really will achieve.1. Why just 1 hour on 1 day a YEAR? That is 1 hour less than the 8760 hours a year we use lights. What difference will this REALLY make?2. Imagine the massive power surge there will be at 9pm on the 29th of March in each respective city? 3. Why are we focusing on lights? Why not have a whole day where we try not to use our cars, but use Public Transport instead (which could be made free for all on that day). That would make more of a difference surely than turning the lights off for just 1 hour.I highly doubt Earth Hour will actually do anything at all to stop Global Warming. What I think we should do is actually be serious about this and do proper things to help the environment:1. Public Transport should be the top priority in the transport departments for all governments. Stop all this pointless NIMBYism and spend the money NOW so that we don't end up with a world full of cities like LA with constant gridlock and bad pollution. And no, buses are not the answer (although in the shortterm it will help). Instead, we could spend the money on train systems powered by solar power (with solar panels on the roof) and also connected to the public power system in the chance that the train runs out of solar power and needs to use the main town power supply.2. It should be made MANDATORY for ALL new homes built to have at least one (1) solar power panel on the roof, and then this panel should be connected to the homes power supply. If some people get a lot of solar power, but don't use it all, then they should be encouraged to put that power back into the main town supply and get credited for it. I am sure the technology is there, we just need to use it.3. We should get away from petrol powered cars. Why not use solar power instead, with a solar panel on the roof? And, if the car uses up all its solar power and can't recharge (eg at night) then it should have a power point for recharging. And the electricity used for this should be green power, not power from power plants that pollute the environment.I am sure we all can think of more options, these are just a few. But, IT CAN BE DONE! If we all rally our governments for action, then we can actually do something about our planet and save it from pollution. And political stunts like Earth Hour seriously are not the answer, just because it was trialled in Sydney in 2007 doesn't mean it is effective in stopping global warming.A200
  15. Sometimes suicide is what is best, in some cases, I find the word suicide not fitting.Think about old people who have been married for 40 years, one of them gets cancer and doesn't want to die a horrible death in a hospital bed or leave their partner alone when they die, so they get euthanasia pills to take before it gets too bad where they have nothing to live for, and both want to go to heaven together. I think it is OK for people to do that, if there is no road back to full health and the only alternative is months or years of suffering, and if the person is willing to do it when they cannot have it any longer, why not? They lived their life to its fullest, and they want to leave with their dignity intact.A200
  16. I have had glasses since June 2005.In year 7 in 2004 I really noticed my eyes getting worse and worse, so in year 8 I got glasses. I feel bad when looking around without them, in year 5 I could easily read a poster at the end of my bed from lying down in bed, not I cannot read it, its so blurry :lol:A200
  17. Beware with these... they are all fake. Think about it, how can a computer tell if someone is online if only people on their contacts would know? And why would they need to have its interface look like MSN if its independent? How would they get your information for the login system to EVEN WORK?Simple, don't enter in your information! One of my friends, friends got their account taken over by this (by entering in their info) and my friend fell for it and now her account has been taken over, and whoever controls it, logins to MSN, says 'sdkfkjnek.info ' and logs out. Its OK to click it, but look at the URL it goes to- one of those MSN account check things which is fake. See they cant post its address directly because any domain with msn in it apart from msn itself is blocked from being posted in MSN messenger, so these people buy a .info domain and forward it. (Hence why .info is always associated with spam). But what to do afterwards... hmm you would be best to IMMEDIATELY backup ALL your personal files then reformat the computer. Of course, if the file is hiding in your personal files then it is a bit tricky... but that is probably your best bet if not even the virus security programs cant find it.
  18. This is a very interesting idea.I imagine it would be scary taking off as everything would disappear very quickly and you could see how far away the ground is.Then how would everything INSIDE of it be attached? What if the glass smashes or something? And from the wind speeds, couldnt it also get scratched very quickly, rendering it useless?Nice idea!It is sort of like the flying elevator from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!A200
  19. Haha those are funny. I love it <_<One good thing is to take a trolley and kill it with crap, then go through the store and return it to the wrong aisle so someone else has to fix it
  20. She was born in March 2005, her 3rd birthday would've been tomorrow...It's a very long story, but basically roosters are illegal in Brisbane suburbs, and these ones did crow a lot but our neighbours didn't mind until the new people came in and wanted to change everything.
  21. Hi all,At around 7:30pm this evening we put my pet bird to sleep (injecting the green dream) and she died shortly after... I am pretty distraught, but I knew we had to do it sometime, as her organs were shutting down and her liver shut down today. She had been extremely anorexic since the beginning of this year, and we tried everything to keep her alive..Well suppose thats the problem of having pet chooks, even though they are cute and extremely humanised (I hugged one of the others and it is sleeping on my lap as I write this), so we now have 6 left... she was the daughter of one of the others as we hatched her from an egg when we used to have roosters (one neighbours actually liked the roosters but a new person moved into the street and the first thing they did was ring the council)...
  22. I don't mind the cpanel, i actually prefer it to newer versions and I can find where everything is pretty easily, and usually upload my files via FTP :PPlus the new look doesnt really do much, and if the cpanel itself is new, then getting the newest theme is a waste of money and takes away from the admins spending funds on where it really benefits the community.Just my 2 centsA200
  23. The comments in this thread make me laugh.Once one of my friends decided to play a prank on one of the techs, so they selected all icons on the desktop and deleted it, then took a screenshot of a game, removed the bottom bar from the pic and set it as desktop background. He got all pissed off that someone was playing a game yet all it was was a desktop imageheheOnce we also set up a program that, when we click enter, it spams every email in the school. Once their inboxes get full, they can't recieve any more emails (when someone email box is full, any more emails that come are automatically removed from the system)
  24. Don't bother going with phpBB3 or SMF, it will just give you headaches.Use MyBB. Although it isnt in Fantastico, it is easy to download it from https://mybb.com/ Just extract then upload and install. It has heaps of things installed as STANDARD (some of their stuff are things which the phpbb3 and smf teams refuse to include) ie you don't have to install them as a plugin, and if there is something extra you want, there are countless plugins available at https://mybb.com/ Installing plugins is easy, just upload the .php file to /inc/plugins and activate in admin cp! No need to do heaps of code modifications. There are a lot of themes available as well, and they are easy to customise. My forum is using MyBB (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) and I made it as it is without having to do any major code edits (the biggest thing I had to do was to integrate my sites design with the forum, by pasting code in the template editor in admin cp). MyBB 1.4 comes out sometime soon, and it looks excellent. MyBB is an awesome alternative to vB and better than phpBB3 and SMF. Look past the name (most people hate mybb for some reason, even if they have NEVER tried it) and give it a go, since I converted from phpBB3, I have not regretted it one bit.
