  1. I wouldn't recommend using Surf Junky because first, I could never get it to work. I don't know if it's because my firewall wouldn't show the link to SurfJunky's browser, or if it's a flatout scam, but I think it's the latter. Apparently, I'm not the only one that agrees that SurfJunky is a scam: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. People claim that when they reach their payout limit ($25.00), SurfJunky automatically closes their account. Personally, I wouldn't want to see ads while I'm surfing the Internet anyway - even if I get paid for it.
  2. Ouch extremehardware! How was your experience on that computer?? Mine is: Intel Pentium II 300 MHz 64 MB RAM 4 MB Video Card 6 GB HD 16x CD-ROM Windows 98 My first computer is not that old, but it was a pain to do stuff like open Microsoft Notepad
  3. That would create a problem though if everyone purchased credits - the contribution to the Xisto community would decrease dramatically.
  4. Yes, I know one: Dreamweaver. I don't know whether it can interpret the code, but I do know that it the PHP code you write in Dreamweaver will be colorized so you can distingiush between the methods/functions and other aspects of PHP code.
  5. Haha, Nils Anyway, like everyone else, I hope you find a great host as this one, and whenever you get a chance, come back and post as a guest! We'd really like to hear from you and how your site is coming along. Good luck with future endeavors, and I hope you feel better!
  6. I personally like the first one better because since it has blank space, it will be easier to add content than the second one. Also, I like the fact that the first one is a little bit shinier than the first one, so more people will be attracted to it.
  7. ?Hola! Adios!!
  8. I read about something like this in my physics book. The problem is due to the resistance that the wires contribute to the current of electricity in the XBox resistance. If the extent that you play your XBox becomes excessive, the insulation around the wire can melt, and a fire can result. You can prevent this by keeping the resistance in the wires small which I don't know how to do.
  9. Wow, your site looks very professional. Congratulations! Since your site is mostly comprised of sliced images, I recommend you add alternative text in case someone is using the Lynx browser, or you made a mistake in coding. Also, to compete with other company's web hosting plans, I think you should raise the number of MySQL databases, FTP accounts, Email Aliases, etc. to unlimited. Just a suggestion. You don't have to make it unlimited, companies like Dreamhost are doing that. Having an HTML valid site could also be beneficial to you and your customers because it helps if your content is viewable across and browsers. You can go to http://validator.w3.org/ to check your site against their validation service. Other than that, it looks really impressive! Keep up the good work!
  10. I know that it's an MP3 player way before I read this.I think the iRiver is much better than the iPod because their GUI is much better, and they don't have the click wheel. Also, newer versions of the iRiver has the capabilities of playing videos, so if I ever get a chance, I'll spend my money on the iRiver. In addition, I think the iPod is way too cliche
  11. guangdian, doing a search on Google for SMF* can tell you right off the bat that SMF is indeed a forum: ** *SMF stands for Simple Machines Forum if any of you wondering. **Quote taken from the first result on Google.
  12. I moved this thread from the C/C++ section to the Java section where it clearly fits. As for the Java thing, I learned it because my school offers an AP Computer Science course using Java, but there are several free online books you can read to get you started in Java. Here's one of the sites: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I'll teach you a little Java right now: public class HelloWorld //declares the class/application named HelloWorld{ public static main void(String[] args) //this line is required for every Java application except for applets { System.out.println("Hello, World!"); //prints out "Hello, World!" on the command prompt screen. System is a class in (all classes are capitalized). out is object in System. println() is a method in System. }} If you need any help in Java, feel free to PM me. I'm halfway through the course, so I know pretty much the majority of Java.
  13. Oh yeah, my friend has an MP4 player, and he claims that it can play videos and music. I don't know what they look like, but I'll try to get a peak Monday and post the results here.
  14. Fish and cats...in the same house?? I never thought that'd be possible :)I like to watch TV, or go on my computer when I have free time...or when I need to get away from it all...like school and such.If the weather is really good outside, then I'd go outside for a walk around the neighborhood or shoot a little basketball by myself. In the summer, I do all of these stuff, and I read because my school gives summer reading assignments.

    Hello All

Welcome to Xisto, ramon !Just remember to make good quality posts (all of which are not copied from anywhere) and you'll get a free hosting in no time. If you decide to plagiarize other people's hard work, I'll warn you. Anyway, I signed up to Xisto this month, and now I'm a moderator, so if you try to help a lot, you might find yourself with an invite from NilsC!Once again, welcome to Xisto, and remember to have fun while posting.
  16. When you gain your credits back by posting good quality posts, then you can apply for a free hosting again. Just do not, at any point, let your hosting credits fall below negative 30, and you shall be fine.
  17. Beth, they, being the media, said that everyone would have hover cars and be living on another planet by 2000. It's now 2005. As for technology, I want to see more cars that employ the use of alternative energy instead of finding some diversion like drilling in Alaska. The only reason I want this is because I would hate to see petroleum run out and the gas in my area is about to go above the 2 dollar mark - it has never done that before. Also, in the future, I believe broadband would...well...be broader for everyone so just about every home will have a T1 connection which would mean nonstop downloading (legal stuff of course )!
  18. yusri, exactly which thread do you want to reply? Maybe that might help me and other members answer your question.
  19. Can you explain what you mean by "recording program"? Do you want something that records your desktop, or something that can record people with the help of a webcam? I'm assuming you want the latter, and I know just the program that will do that. It's called "GOTCHA!", and it's primary purpose is a video surveillance program, so you record who's doing what to your computer while you're away, but I'm pretty sure it will work for whatever you're doing, too.
  20. On my site, I have 30-ish free flash games for you to play, 6 pages of jokes, and loads funny images (almost all of them are from College Humor, but I only picked the best ones to display on my site).
  21. I think the only person who knows what I'm about to say is whyme: don't you mean "Bachelor's of Art Degree"? Don't worry, I won't tell alumnis your age that you misspelled something . And yes, welcome to Xisto.
  22. Keep in mind I have no confirmation on the validity of the following.I think that there are certain members out there (I'm not naming any names) who abuse the Reputation system. Said members, who I've looked at their posts, have not posted anything useful/helpful, and yet, somehow, someone has given them reputation point(s). Normally, their spelling and grammar isn't the greatest, but once in a while, they create this wonderful post that flows, and dramatically shortens my scroll bar. When search their post on Google, you get about thousands of entries of the SAME ARTICLE. This tells you that they plagiarized their post to inflate their credits, and it makes me extremely angry because I try to be helpful to other members as much as possible, and I don't get anything in return (maybe except for the satisfaction that I've helped someone).*takes deep breaths* I'm much better now.
  23. By the way, Benz1435, you can do what I do to all the media (images, flash files, etc.) in my web pages: Append ".nyud.net:8090" (without quotes) to the hostname of any URL. Your website is http://forums.xisto.com, so instead of telling people to go to http://forums.xisto.com, tell them to go to http://forums.xisto.com (this does not work if you use absolute URLs, only relative URLs work). Or, if there is, say a huge flash file named "intro.swf", you can do: <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="610" height="380"> <param name="movie" value="http://xboxlive.trap17.com.nyud.net:8090/intro.swf">'>http://xboxlive.trap17.com.nyud.net:8090/intro.swf"> <param name="quality" value="high"> <embed src="http://xboxlive.trap17.com.nyud.net:8090/intro.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/special/errorpages/404.html; type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="610" height="380"></embed></object> You may be increasing the size of the page, but it definately helps with bandwidth. And it works, too (I've tried it). Good luck!
  24. Hmm, interesting technique, bigboss. I saw an article like that some place on the internet, but I didn't feel like reading it. Now I know all about it. Thanks!By the way, PHPtech, welcome to Xisto.
