  1. You're either in the wrong forum, or you're spamming. Let's not hope it's the latter.
  2. I've had a similar problem where my Epson printer was printing random DOS entries. I turned my printer on prematurely (when the computer was turning on), and my printer started printing about 20 sheets. I know how you feel, dude. If you want another printer, go http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se&sku=H24-C8974C It's free.
  3. I'm not sure if there is a constant to make a gradient border. What I'd do if I were in this situation is draw a table in Photoshop, then slice up your table to make menus.
  4. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ has several layouts you can use for free. Just copy and paste the code to your web page. I used another page to get the layout for my site, but I don't remember what it was. I don't recommend using tables because if you have a large site, you won't see your site until all the table code has been rendered, but if you use CSS and make it a separate file, then the file is stored in the cache, and the page will load much faster. I agree tables would be easier - I used it once, but using CSS is better in the long run if you want to maintain a large site.
  5. HAHAHA!! Thanks for pointing that out to me. Is there anyway to edit the poll answers? This will confuse visitors for ages to come.
  6. If you've had a very long word, then I think you'd need to manually put the <br> tag in yourself. I've experienced many overflows in my time, and I don't think either Internet Explorer or Firefox will put a br tag in for you.
  7. I use shtml to generate random facts on my front page. To do this: 1. Create a cgi-bin directory 2. Create a facts.txt file in the cgi-bin directory and put facts in there: 1 fact per line 3. Create a file named facts.cgi in notepad 4. In facts.cgi, copy and paste the following code: #!/usr/bin/perl -wTuse strict;my $quote;open(QUOTES, "facts.txt") or die "Oops! Can't find quote file: $!";srand;rand($.) < 1 && ($quote = $_) while <QUOTES>;print "Content-type: text/html\n\n";print $quote;5. Where ever you want the random fact to appear, copy and paste the following code to your page: <!--#include virtual="cgi-bin/facts.cgi"-->Change "cgi-bin/facts.cgi" (w/o quotes) to where ever you stored your facts.cgi file 6. Upload your cgi-bin directory to your web space 7. Chmod facts.cgi to 755 8. Remember to name the web page file that will display the random fact as blah.shtml where blah is any name you wish. shtml extension should stay. Good luck! Btw, should I have made that a separate topic/tutorial? If you admins think so, can you please move it for me? Thanks!
  8. That's gonna give me nightmares. I was scared enough of the first decapitation, and now there are 41 more. Yuk.I think this whole Iraq thing is ridiculous because it seems like the war is not going anywhere, and more and more people are killed each day - on either side.Think about what their families are going through. Tough times, but Bush is only in the White House for 3-ish more years.
  9. My fine feathered friend, I have made a keylogger...in Visual Basic a while back. I will give it to you if you tell me what you plan to do with it. If you need it to find passwords, then forget it, but any legitimate reason will do.My program tracks almost all your keys (alpha-numeric), and saves it into a file as you're typing.
  10. Well, BitTorrent 4.0.0.0 is the original BitTorrent by Bram Cohen - I just didn't put the version because I know that some of these clients update their software quickly, but thanks for bringing that up to those who didn't get the news.
  11. If the internet went down, I wouldn't do anything drastic because I don't rely on it a lot, but if the internet as a whole went down, then I'd be sad because then I'd actually have to do work instead of procrastinate.I survived without the internet for three weeks, so I think I'll manage to do something else while I wait.
  12. I use BitTornado because it's very reliable for me, although at times, the GUI seems to freeze, and I get very mad when that happens because I leave the computer on for a long time, so when I get back, I expect a finished download.I've also tried BitComet. I don't know if this is me, but the torrent seems to take SO much longer to finish downloading than it does on BitTornado. If you've experienced this, post below.Shareaza is another client that I've tried, but it doesn't seem to handel torrents very well.
  13. No, this is not a dumb question because I think I've conquered the Internet. After you've done all you need to do, the Internet is nothing. I often open my trust Firefox, go to google.com, and I stare at what to put in the search box...sometimes for hours. When I do have something to do, however, I use the Internet for:1. hw2. chat3. forums4. check email5. download...legal stuff6. read tech. news7. update website8. flash games
  14. Mine is sangnguyen.info (yes, I got that domain for free). Some elements might not work on the site, because I'm planning to get a new host, and you can probably guess where.

  16. ...that's because Nas is a lyricist, according to the folks at Urban Dictionary seems to agree with you on that too.Despite all that, I still like my rap music to be headbanging, and have a little flow. Who do you recommend I listen to if I want that? BIG?
  17. Aww man, why did you give the answer away? Let the others struggle! It took my a day and a half to figure out that stupid puzzle. If my friend hadn't given me a hint, I would have never got that. How long did it take you to figure it out?
  18. I love Yahoo! I've been using Yahoo ever since it was offering a 6 MB email inbox ("More than any email providers"). Now use Gmail for its simplicity, but I use Yahoo because everyone knows that email address.
  19. The "8090" stuff is just a way to not waste bandwidth if you want people to download something from you. Just append it to your domain like my example above. Several websites have begin using that as a way to not waste their bandwidth, like thebroken mirrors.
  20. You can learn CSS tutorials at http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp . They also have PHP, ASP, HTML, SQL, and many, MANY other tutorials that will provide you with a strong foundation in web design. CSS is basically a webmaster's best friend in webdesign. Instead of coding the scheme of a particular font, for example, you can declare a CSS scheme that will apply to all fonts. If you wanna know more, just holler.
  21. I use 56K because my parents don't think that a higher connection is necessary, but as soon as I live by myself, I'm getting a better connection.I'm using Joi Internet now - 9.95 a month, but the bad thing about it is that I get disconnected everytime I download around 50 MB.
  22. *jumps with joy*Thank you so much!!The colors and font are not very distinctive though, but thanks again!
  23. This may sound like a dumb question, but how do I know how many hosting credits I have?
  24. Dreamweaver is a very good program in the long run because it has all the features that you asked for and more. All you basically have to do in Dreamweaver is point your cursor in the spot you want the code to appear, go to the appropriate menu, fill out a form, and you're done! It even has templates, and code snippets for you to use. I used Dreamweaver to start my site, but it slows down my Celeron (yes, laugh all you want), so I uninstalled it and went back to MS Notepad.
  25. I use Zone Alarm Pro because Kevin Rose recommended it from the old "The Screen Savers." I haven't had any bad experiences with Zone Alarm Pro personally, and I the fact that it's lightweight, reliable, and secure is the reason I use it.I used to use Norton Personal Firewall 2003 Professional until it told me I was being hacked from 127.0.0.1. Haha good times.I haven't seen anyone post this, so I guess I'll do it now. If you have Firefox, go to your address bar, and type "shields up" (with or without quotes...it doesn't matter). Then click Proceed, and click Common Ports at the bottom. If you see a lot of green on the page, that mean whatever firewall you're using is working. For those on IE, go to Google, and type in "shields up", and click "I'm Feeling Lucky". Click Proceed -> Common Ports.
