Depends. Is your site getting decent unique visitors (more than 500 a day). If your site is new, and you're only getting 10-100 uniques (mostly from friends), then I don't think it's worth your while to invest in adsense. Wait until your site is getting a good amount of traffic (preferably from search engines), then sign up. Why? If you're getting the same visitors everyday, then those people will develop something called "ad blindness" where they will eventually shut out your ads from their view. When you go to a site over and over again, don't you agree that you stop noticing their ads after a while? And if people don't click your ads, your click through rate will decrease, and your total earnings will decrease overall since that depends on your CTR.

I say the font could be better. Since you're using a small sized font, it's important to turn off anti aliasing or else your font will be blurry. Besides, you want your button to look attractive so that people will click on it.

Recently, I recoded a part of my site so that it uses a MySQL database to store information instead of on a text file. Because my site receives a lot of traffic and it's on a shared hosting environment, the DB could potentially go down. Since I don't want to lose my visitors, I want to know if there is a way to tell when the MySQL DB is down. I know that I could add a die function along with the mysql_connect function: mysql_connect("localhost", "username", "passwordl") or die("Something here."); I want it to do more than just print a line stating the problem--I want it to store a variable. Is there a way to do such thing? Thanks!
