  1. The easiest solution is to probably strip down to the bare essentials but that can be a tad inconvenient if you have guests around I have an unusually hot room so I usually leave the windows open from sunset to early dawn(even before the first sun rise), once the noon sun has gone off I find it safe to leave the windows open. The house that I currently live in has this comfortable 5 foot counter attached to my window which is probably 4 feet tall so I usually keep a long plastic tub on the counter and soak with my dog or cat, sure it attracts the attention of a neighbor now and then :lol:My older dog will sit in the tub with me only and only if I give her a Popsicle We even have this picture of the two of us in bathing suits (Mother decided to make Delphi wear my old bathing suit) with our Popsicles My location allows for me to have the tub all year round and we make sure to use the same water for the garden since water wastage is something I do not like.
  2. You have to keep in mind that at the end of the day, your laptop should be chosen purely based on how you would be using it. When it comes to buying a laptop, I have to keep in mind a few obvious shortcomings :- Power Speed. Post Purchase costs & maintenance. Remembering the fact that a laptop is a portable desktop, one must focus on the main task that the laptop would be put to use for and get feedback based on that. For example, I cannot expect a coder to give me feedback on the media system of his laptop nor expect him to enlighten me on the multi tasking capabilities of a laptop, if you have your eyes set out on a brand, research on what their laptops give a 100% in. The tricky fact about brands is that you can never assume it to fit perfectly to your needs. An acer could work perfectly for my mother but might not be suitable for my style of working. The same applies to support, the support team from one place might be utter rubbish but a support team from another location might do a decent job except for HCL Those guys are seriously oblivious of a thing known as support. I personally would go for a Toshiba since I work and multitask programs a lot and need a machine that could handle the load without really worrying about graphics or games.
  3. Ha ha hah a I actually got an Airtel number since the Aircel adventure was such a big failure. I am terribly sorry about your experience I particularly like how the pack spoke of a lifetime scheme while the exec had no clue, if you had gotten this sim card quite a while back, I would like to let you know that the lifetime pack did and in many places still exists .A friend had recommended Reliance but another commented that you could probably divorce your wife unscathed but not reliance I had originally considered DoCoMo but a lot of people spoke of how bad their network was, the same sentiments about IDEA since I didn't want to invest in a number that could probably be of no use to me irrespective of who its endorser was or how successful it has been in other places. Don't even get me started on Vodafone, as if their prices aren't already exorbitant, their support team is not worth your time... They kept me waiting at their office for 45 minutes for a "registration form" and their registration process could give the passport agencies a run for their money :|Even with the Airtel number, I had to wait 2 days before the dude took any action.. And for the aircel sim cards? I did not throw them in the bin.. No no, I did what they deserved.. Burnt their literature and smashed the card with a hammer(I broke the other one at their office when they were apologizing for the delayed information, though I broke the card accidentally... I doubt the manager thought it was accidental)But it is like you said, it is no walk in the park to buy a connection here mainly because the ill maintained system and the lack of logic in the registration process. If you want to walk on hot coal, I dare you to transfer an existing number to a different provider, you realize how sadistic your provider can be when you attempt this daredevil feat.

    My Animals

Bitter! such a unique name for a dog. Love for animals is a quality shared by both my mother's family and my father's so we were never far off from a menagerie be it our own home or a cousin's place. My birth home had 20 cats, 2 dogs, an aquarium of fish in our home, a small artificial pond of fish in the garden, a parrot, a squirrel(prey of one of the cats) and a few monkeys who were wild but stayed on our roof.... All in one house lol, my mum had almost ripped her hair out. I am with Mrdee, I love mynahs.. I had nursed one a long time back, amazingly brilliant birds. Hamsters, guinea pigs depress me, they die too quickly but they are so adorable, I am tempted to keep a few guinea pigs in the future. My uncle offered to give me a pair of iguanas, mother offered to keep me in the shed Mira sounds like a really good dog, was she a Labrador too? Do you have any pics of her? She must have been one special lady It's terrible to lose a pet especially when the cause is so traumatic, may she rest in peace. I lost my Irish setter mix to Cancer. He had to be put down, I was probably 6 or 7 years old... I still remember my grandfather trying to explain why Rocky wasn't coming back home with us from the vet's. I love dogs and they seem to like me, while I was working with the family vet, I used to go out on rounds and have been around during a few whelping including my own dog's. Can't wait to see your puppies nanna
  5. Welcome to Xisto forums. Hope you have a wonderful stay here, why don't you tell us a little bit more about yourself? your hobbies maybe? If you have any questions about the forums or how to participate here, ask away and we will be happy to help you
  6. You could still opt for Decade plan if you want you know Just send in the ticket for it. And I doubt the credit amount has reduced, maybe the lack of activity in the forums made you feel that way.. I usually do not focus on the credit I earn but a recent update was 2 USD for 11 posts, could someone let me know if that is anywhere near the average earning The Decade plan is for those who really don't have a requirement and have no plans of actively capitalizing on their website like for example, a kid and his own personal homepage or a business getting a standard home page for the sake of contact.
  7. Many Many apologies in advance for the super long post. I do not expect anyone to read it :lol:Recently I was in deep need of a second sim card for my phone since my current number is a bit sketchy (bad network in many areas and connectivity issues). I decided to go in for a post paid connection as an alternative to my existing pre paid number. Here, we follow a system of pre paid and post paid where with a pre paid connection we buy a coupon of a fixed amount and then are given credit accordingly which we can use for calls, texts, internet and so on. While the post paid is where you pay for what you've used at the end of the billing cycle which is usually monthly. Now, since all these terrorist attacks, mobile operators have been advised to up their game when it comes to new registrations. I understand this decision and actually respect it but Aircel's procedure was simply ludicrous. I decided on going in for Aircel since they were packing in plenty of goodies for only 10 dollars a month, I assumed I would spend no more than 12 dollars even if I were to max my limits which made it seem ideal budget and service wise. For reasons known only to me, I decided to get the card in the name of either parent, mum suggested I get it in dad's name since he could pay the bill if in case I was unable to. Now the regular requirements while buying a Sim card are address proof, photo identity proof, a few passport size photos and a completely filled out registration form. For address proof, the electricity bill usually suffices while pan card, passport, driver's license, voter's card is required for identity proof. When I do reach the place(Aircel office), I pick up the forms and note down the documents they'd require and so I picked up a photocopy of all the things making sure my dad's signature was present on all the documents and went back to their office where the lady there tells me that the physical presence of my father was required o.O Apparently these people require the registering person to BE THERE in the office with the ORIGINAL documents which they would photocopy themselves... ok... One problem, my dad wasn't in town and wouldn't be back for at least a month. My mother then suggested that I get the card in the name of a colleague of hers since he said he would be in that part of the town, I didn't mind waiting for a day longer so I agreed... Big Mistake!Day 1 :- My mother's colleague X finishes registration by providing the documents and filling up the registration form. The lady there told him that the sim card would start working in 4 hours and no payment was required until verification was completed(verification of the submitted documents). Because the process turned out to be so damn easy, he got himself a sim card too, and like idiots we spent most of the afternoon, evening and night wondering why the cards were still inactive.Day 2:- I was terribly upset since the new connection was still inactive and we didn't hear from them so we weren't even sure whether the verification had failed so X went over to their office where he was assured that the connection would start working by noon(another lie). As expected noon comes and passes but still no sign of the new connection working, at 3 pm he receives a call from one of the reps there asking him to pay a ?security deposit? since he was from what they called ?gray area?. Now we were miffed since the dumb bimbo hadn't mentioned this tiny detail even ONCE, even after she had been told the connection was required urgently, she failed to mention the fact that there is a different protocol for different area. I never lose my cool on representatives who let me know about delays and obstacles... But bimbos like her and her male bimbo manager? Yeah, their effigies burn as I type >_>After we reach their office, the male bimbo, we shall call him moron in short tells us that since the colleague is from a grey area, he would not only have to pay the 11 dollar security deposit for each card BUT also should have a salary of 333 USD monthly(15,000 INR) to even contemplate getting a card from them. o.O WHAT! WHY WOULD ANYONE HAVE SUCH A REQUIREMENT FOR A CONNECTION THAT WOULD CHARGE US ONLY 500 INR PER MONTH... WHY?Fine, I understand the company has a protocol, my question to them is why they didn't bother telling this beautifully significant fact on DAY 1 when we could've hitched up our skirts and fled from the scene? Why did they wait for us to finish registration and make us wait for 24 hours before telling this to us. And the best bit of the entire scene was that the cat dropping who assured us that the connection would work by noon was the same cat dropping who informed us about the salary requirement. And if you were to get a pre-paid sim card from them, all you'd have to do is ask their moron to fill up the form for you, sign the document, give them the photocopy, fill in a nominal amount as the first recharge and then start using the card in an hour or two. Apparently their puny range of thought has assumed that only POST PAID cards can be abused while the prepaid cannot be abused? Interesting ideology. The cherry on top was the fact that even if I did rope in some one not living in the grey area, I could never have the card transferred onto my name since they allow sim cards to be transferred to blood relatives.....wuh? Maybe they do it so that they can arrest the family member :lol:So I am done venting, I really do not like getting miffed over a company's protocol but they clearly wasted 2 days of my life. I assume that bimbo was probably dozing off while going through the documents because it clearly would have had the area mentioned
  8. To quote a friend Thrown out of the company he started, only to return to become the CEO of the decade. His leadership will be missed. RIP, Steve Paul Jobs. I am pretty sure Apple sold all they did because of Jobs, the man was a brilliant guy capable of selling with all he got and I think the same passion was utilized during the making of their products. So now the question remains, How will Apple fare now that Jobs isn't around to take care of them? Can they really bank on their current success for long? To learn more about Steve Jobs, please read here http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  9. After much speculation of Steve's health problems, Apple's Steve Jobs has passed away at the age of 56. Thought Apple has not yet disclosed the cause of death, I don't think I really care since his achievements should be the highlight of his death and not the cause A part of Apple's statement on Steve Jobs To quote a friend Thrown out of the company he started, only to return to become the CEO of the decade. His leadership will be missed. RIP, Steve Paul Jobs. 10. Ip blocks, server downtime, server changes.. Basically anything requiring an admin to login to the server can be sent to Xisto - Support but things where your php isn't working fine or you need help setting up your cron jobs, email and so on would be through the forum. I hope that solves your doubt.
  11. Topic is resolved. Please PM any moderator to continue this discussion. Until then, this topic is closed.
  12. Just an update before I close the topic :)In order for you to delete the Picasa Album, it has to be one you created. You cannot delete another person's picasa album. But you have options to prevent people from seeing them if you don't want to delete them. These are all settings you can find once you are logged into your Picasa Web Album(You can also reach your web albums through your gmail account -> Photos).
  13. Technically like the others have pointed out, it does not matter who your mail provider is as long as you do not have tacky nicknames. Though I usually pay attention to the nickname being used while taking interviews since name-number can be forgiven but cutiepie81 cannot . As far as the domain email is considered, both lastname@firstname and firstname@firstname are fine but I personally never use my firstname@firstname email address, I find it embarrassing The email address I use all the time is my firstname.lastname@provider since it is clear enough.
  14. Your domain name should be a personal choice for you, think of all the things you will be publishing on your website while deciding a domain name. I would suggest names like E-Mag or MagEzine but you can also find more attractive names by using a domain name suggester tool like the one at Xisto - Domains Remember to keep the name short and easy to remember. Best of luck
  15. There are two possibilities to this situation :- You have been ip blocked by the firewall :- This is a common occurrence which happens when you use the wrong credentials more than 3 times. You can confirm that you are ip blocked by checking your website/cpanel from a completely different machine(say you couldn't see your website from home, you then try viewing it from your school, work or an internet cafe). If you are blocked, send in a ticket to support at qupis dot com with your ip address (you can find your ip address at http://ipchicken.com/) Your site's been deleted for either fraudulent activity or lack of activity:- Fraudulent sites are deleted without notice and the same applies to sites that have not been modified for a long time. When we say modification, we mean that the site still shows the default company free hosting page instead of your own. But your site is working perfectly fine so you are fine there The server was probably down:- Sometimes the server does go down and you probably checked your website then. The billing record you speak of simply is a status of whether you are an active client with us, suspended or terminated Anyway, since the topic has been resolved. I am closing it, please pm me if you wish to have it reopened Cheers
  16. Generally you don't need to login to your client area to submit a ticket, if you were to send an email to either sales at Xisto - Web Hosting dot com , support at Xisto - Web Hosting dot com or help at Xisto dot com automatically opens a ticket for you. You can even continue response through your email but granted it should not be the permanent fix.And I think you are facing the same issue as shadowx because he too opened a topic regarding the Xisto - Support page not working. If you two are facing the exact same issue, I cannot assume it to be an isolated case anymore.
  17. Quite honestly I do not think it is possible for a site to point at two different places since the nameservers are specifically designed to help connect the path(address) to your data. Isn't there a way you can have the forum content migrated onto your hosting account instead of the other host? Trying to point your website at two places could cause a DNS havoc and it is best to avoid any tricks that could cause a downtime.
  18. A final update and we can then call this topic resolved. The verification process has finally been concluded and Xisto's PayPal services are working perfectly fine therefore members can now make payments through PayPal
  19. So I opened the topic in KS a few minutes ago but would like to know what you guys think of this.. I am seriously tempted to buy it Source http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  20. Here is some good news for Indians wanting to own a tablet of their own but have financial constrictions(me being one of them )The Indian Institute of Technology has created what seems to be the world's cheapest tablet priced at 1700 INR or 34 USD approx. It is supposed to be education oriented promising to give you what most big brands are currently offering. Personally I would love to give it a try and as long as the job gets done, I am ready to accept any shortcomings like mediocre touch screen, low graphics or slow speeds. I hoping it works out since a lot of people would truly benefit from this. What do you guys think? Source
  21. China seems to have every kind of demented practice when it comes to Animal cruelty. It seems they aren't happy with chopping live snakes or frying fish alive(Gruesome)because they have started making "UGG" boots out of raccoon dogs, and for since they love the suffering animal, they do it while the animal is alive. I am aware of fur farms where the animals are killed humanely in order to obtain their fur since bullets and knives can ruin it.. But these guys do nothing but stun them and then start skinning them, simply appalling. UGG boots traditionally made of sheep skin turned into a fad because a few celebs started flaunting them. Doesn't it simply suck that we can do nothing to stop such acts? Graphic Pictures. Be warned
  22. Shadowx, could you please tell me if your problem is similar or exactly like what mrdee has been facing?.Mrdee's problem
  23. The last topic opened by you was in April, you should know by now that spammy posts are deleted without notification. Secondly, you haven not mentioned the topics from where your posts were deleted. Thirdly you could have pm'd a moderator before you opened your topic. You have been warned because you should be aware by now that we do not encourage cussing here. Either maintain decorum and have your issue sorted out peacefully or you will leave the mods with no choice but to suspend your account if you continue misbehaving
  24. Marvelous idea feelay, I completely agree with you that this place requires a major restoration.. Xisto has always been the forum for brains with a few exceptions(like me ) run by the brains like microscopic earthling and managed by awesome members like xbox & yordan... Now that the brains have gotten busy, it is difficult for mediocre brains like me to reply to existing topics and open new topics. A technique I used to implement while teaching small children was based on the penalty system. It is basically a simple system where the group of people is fixed and moves in rotation. So let's say 5 people decide to register for this week's topic. Member 1 is to open the topic for the week, 2,3,4,5 have to respond either on day 2 or according to their "roll number".. 2 on day 2, 3 on day 3 and so on.. But if you fail to reply by your roll number day, you get a penalty and will have to open a topic. And like I said, it moves in a circle.. So obviously Member 2 would open a fresh topic the next week. And no spamming to complete your turn Any topic and no limit of replies. I am pretty sure I would get plenty of penalties if starscream enters the group What do you guys think?
  25. Just adding another update. Other than manual upgrades Official wordpress tutorial. You can upgrade by using the auto update option in your wordpress panel. If it asks you to submit your login details, you need to use ftp.hostname(domain/.com) cpanel username cpanel password What to do when Auto Update fails :- Deleting the upgrade folder in wp-content. Retry the update. Checking Permissions, Removing .maintenance file, Switching off Safe Mode and editing config.php I do remember using a plugin for my wordpress installation, the plugin basically fixed the error and let me auto update feature. If I do remember it, I will add it here
