  4. While going through the daily news, I found an article about a robot designed by Harvard, they've developed a little four legged robot that crawls around & into tight spaces, the demonstration can be seen in the source. Firstly, I think it would be a hit if converted into a toy(imagining the reactions of my pets), it was amusing to just watch it wriggle around... some of the appreciative comments I got from family & friends are too crass to mention here:lol: . But.. It makes me wonder how useful can it really get in the real world.. Being able to crawl into tight spots could allow for police to check on people(make sure they are safe or if suspected to be dead) but it is pretty slow so I doubt it would be all that useful during a raid, the offenders could simply squish it the instant it starts crawling into the house Another use could be to quadriplegic or paraplegic people, with a suction mechanism, could help them pick up dropped items. Can any of you think of uses for this little robot? Source

  6. I am pretty sure you had one just like that , the difference being that yours could have handled a punch or two while this one can't
  7. Nobles beasts, Alsatians.. I had one growing up.. He was a magnificent creature, the breed always reminds me of a horse due to their demeanor, very loyal breed and the perfect companion breed. I miss my old boy Belgian Shepherds are equally very gorgeous and wonderful, I have had the pleasure of working with many shepherd dogs but some of them through ill treatment had all the bad signs psychologically and physiologically. West Highland terriers are super adorable but there are some as notorious as a dachshund, they can be snappy around children or overprotective.I can't begin to tell the number of times I have been carted away by Bernards & Labradors in the clinic, such lovable doggies.... I have seen a few poodles but never interacted with them...
  8. Every animal owner/lover has had at least a dozen funny experiences with their animals.. I have them all the time with my own little babies but there are some truly hilarious moments during my time at the vet's clinic.. So why don't you post some of your funny experiences?Dogs usually know when they are going to get a jab so we resort to many tactics to prevent our patient stressing over his routine injections and not to ruin the relationship you develop with the animal. One time, this particularly loving Labrador by the name of Thomas decided to flee upon seeing the needle in the doctor's hands.. Usually when Thomas or another patient comes by, I distract them, in the case of dogs by calling their name, blowing in their nose or letting them slobber over me while holding their neck collar the entire time...Darling Thomas this time managed to look at the needle from the corner of his eye and bolted out the door with my hand stuck in the neck belt.. And for the sake of convenience I usually go where my hand goes.. So I got dragged from the main O.T a good 6 feet into the lobby before I managed to wedge a leg in a couch and the other into a computer table..My chest helped stop the force known as Thomas when I slammed into part of the couch. Though I admit I could have let go of the belt, there were patients outside and Thomas was not from our part of town so it was risky to let him run out on his own.Another time during mango season, after buying a few dozen mangoes I decided for some reason to feed an oncoming cow a few mangoes from my bag... She was a smart cow :S because she realized the bag was the answer to her problems **shakes head**.. Never before have I seen a cow run so fast, I was really making a run for it with her catching up to me And this was on a busy street, I think what freaked me out was the fact that we were facing each other during the feed and as I started walking towards home, she turned out really fast and started chasing me...
  9. I wish! But you must note that I am the one in the lead with 3 points in the game Though that cake looks so cute... Wish I could find the time to bake those pretty little swans That was just so HILARIOUS!!! I had tea coming out my nose as I read this I hope Opa has the same reaction
  10. When you said Black Friday, I was expecting a gory, brutal telling of people mauling each other but quite honestly, after reading your topic... I think you were hit with the worst of Black Friday's wrath.... Though like you, I hope that dumb woman gets jailed for macing others. Would you hate me if I told you that I find this recollection amusing and yet I sympathize with you at the same time. Have you tried cloves? I have used clove oil for my tooth aches often but I am not sure how helpful it is against abscesses. There is this analgesic my brother was prescribed for his tooth ache though I can't remember what its called, I should check to see if we still have a bottle later. OUCH!!! Blisters from burns are by far the most inconvenient annoying little things, they are small insignificant little zits who cause so much pain and swelling... So annoying! I have had finger tips burnt by vessels or open flames while cooking but yours wins the prize.... As for popping them, it is not something really recommended but I am guilty of popping them too.. I hope your feet are doing good now and I think you should avoid the kennels for a little while since you don't want any more damage done to your footsies **claps** Talk about optimism
  11. I can understand the voice behind the topic but decrypting the thought behind any form of expression is always a tricky affair, take the example of Lucy in the sky with Diamonds.. Decades after the song was made, people still argue about the song whether it was made based on Julian Lennon's picture or whether it was based on an acid trip(LSD experience). Slayer, famous for having really antisocial & satanic themed music have admitted themselves that they don't believe in or feel half the things they sing about...Like the way cuss words flow unrestrained, themes earlier known to cause controversy are accepted now.. Just a phase perhaps or the artists know that they are bound to get reactions from their fans. Everyone has their share of battles against demons but the way each person voices it out is perhaps unique to themselves. Though it is sometimes concerning that a listener could get wrong ideas from the songs but what can we do?
  12. At first I was confused about what you meant by "wood splitter" and saw a few images and I have to admit, they look a bit menacing. But Congratulations on your new addition Maybe you could share a few pictures of your splitter. What do you mainly use the splitter for? And if you don't have a splitter, what are your alternatives? o.O I am assuming petite people like me are to stay a really safe distance from these machines? How big a tree do you normally chop?
  13. I have actually heard of & seen people use Corel Draw more for logos, magazines, registration forms & pamphlets, I think it is something to do with the overall output because of how graphics could look one way in a computer and another way once you actually print it? I had originally designed a few sign boards in photoshop but the printer required them to be converted into Corel Draw because he wasn't sure about all the effects coming out cleanly on the material... >_< It was a horribly testing moment for Corel Draw is not something I am fond of I think I will try Fireworks to see how it goes, thanks for the suggestion nitin

  16. **Sobs** I never want to say goodbye to XP, after having had almost all versions of Windows.. I work between one Windows 7 machine and a XP professional machine.. Quite honestly, I don't see any difficulty during the installation of either versions. XP is pretty straightforward while Windows 7 does come with the advantage of not losing your data even if you format the hard disk. A few "problems" I find in Windows 7 is that it is sometimes a bit too flashy in the navigation so quite often getting from point A to point B is pretty confusing.. Though the search feature K.O's every O.S there is I have always found XP to be much more sturdy and oriented towards the serious working bee with the no nonsense interface but Windows 7 isn't half bad either.. Reminiscing about the features, I would say the feature most missed by all us old school tech junkies is the "repair" option in the network section... I mean the old days when I spent many of my valuable minutes clicking "repair" to get my connection working But yes, I too wonder how Windows 8 will settle into our lives now that Windows has gotten its niche again with Windows 7, remember the fiasco known as "vista"?
  17. So it is that time of the year again where we all wish our favorite geek a very happy birthday So here is a big cheer to you OpaQue And as are customs, I got you a cake and a gift combined into one
  18. [media]http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/] While checking on the regular stuff on digg, I came across this video about an octopus coming out of its natural habitat(water) to take a stroll around the grounds and then climb back into the water.. Now that is a pet I would love to have The thought of scaring my family with an octopus sounds really really fun But it is amazing how smart in general octopi are.. They have been known to sneak out of their enclosures into other enclosures to eat fish. Some of them have been known to unlock their own pens or wreak havoc like Otto .. Still, I would love to have a pet octopus

    My Animals

Yeah, I totally agree with sheepdog in regards to the food. My delphi's pups were started with soaked puppy food and nowadays you seem to get different varieties of weaning milk, starter puppy foods and all.. I usually don't give little ones dry food or biscuits since hard bits could hamper the growth/health of teeth but Sheepdog should be able to help out better with when to start dry food.. For now, until they grow bigger, keep them on soft food that can be smooshed in your fingers since puppies tend to gobble food without actually chewing it, I know mine did >_<And it is perfectly normal for mother dog to get super skinny after whelping.. Delphi had reduced to a horribly emaciated state after her whelping... Scared the entire family because we thought it was abnormal but our family vet explained to us the same thing, once she starts feeding only herself and not her and pups.. She could fatten up again :)Also since you mentioned that this is the last litter, I would recommend that you get Dido checked out by your vet once puppies are completely off her milk. Through personal experience at the clinic, always make sure to get momma & poppa sterilized when they are young since it increases their life span, reduces chances of developing mammary gland cancer/prostrate cancer by a big number. Out of 10 old female dogs we had, at least 7-8 died due to cancer or due to Pyometra(an infection of the uterus)... Usually a vet will give you a discount if you get multiple animals sterilized in one session since resource cost is reduced(At least our family vet does that). And we want MORE PICTURES! Take care
  20. Lol I never earn on Xisto so I can't comment on that but did you get any mycent report recently? You won't lose your mycent but it might take longer to earn it.. Has anyone else had any issues with their mycent? Nitin, Firstly, Welcome to Xisto and coming to the lo-fi version.. The /discuss/ pages actually loads much faster than the full version on my end.. And Opa is having the forums optimized so the speed of both the forums and lo-fi version should improve. Yeah, Opa was having different versions of the logo made to see which suited the boards the best.. so far so good
  21. Lol OpaQue just got started on it, give him some time, he should probably finish customizing soon.. The logos being the first step. I think the similar theme isn't all that big a priority since the main distinguishing factor about the two forums are the topics
  22. I was trying different options with the BBcode but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work So I am gonna wait for Opa to clarify media rules here.. But yes, I did watch your video and Paige was absolutely ADORABLE! She really loves your dogs and they love her the same Beggars... My dogs do the same to my dad, they usually wait for the entire family to look the other way and then inch real close to my dad so that he can feed them a bite And by the time the family turns to look at them, they are back to the original spot... I've tried so many times to record it but they don't perform when they are being recorded

    My Animals

Wow, that's morbid but no, I realized that she meant, he was adopted since she mentioned he goes by the name Buster now Well hopefully you stay in touch with Buster Nanna since it would be nice to know how he is doing.. I still stay in touch with my dog's puppies... They are all 8 years old now but I can still see them as blind wiggly puppies
