  1. Hitman, what I'm trying to say is that my PHP file would replace JSP. I can still achieve AJAX because it's Javascript. Instead of connecting the AJAX object to a JSP, I connect it to a PHP page and achieve the same result. I've tried it and I didn't have to reload the page. The PHP script would be back-end not front-end that's why the user won't have to reload the page (thanks to AJAX).A better combination (in my opinion) is: XHTML/Javascript(AJAX)/PHP instead of: XHTML/Javascript(AJAX)/JSP(JAVA)
  2. No matter how good the hacker would be, no matter how smart he would be to be able to shut the internet off, he's an idiot. Shutting down the whole internet for good is the most idiotic thing you can do. It's not funny. This is serious matter. Communications, trade, commerce rely on the internet. If someone does take it down, he won't just harm other people, he'll also harm himself. Why spend so much time studying how to make this incredible virus and end all of your studies and make it obsolete after you shut down the internet. IT's just pointless to spend so much time trying to figure it out just for a dangerous and idiotic goal.If you're really interested in computers, why waste the time destroying it?
  3. Source article from Sun: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/index.html Well, from this article, it shows that Ajax can be achieved with Java using Java Servlets or JSP's. For those who don't know what AJAX is, it's an object in Javascript technology that allows for instant communication between client-side and server-side. It's like changing a page's content without having to reload the whole page. Let's move on... Now when I looked at the JSP source code, the servlet's function was to simply validate a text and send back a response in XML format. That's basically all what it needed to do. It required a lot of lines to obtain the information from the HTTP Request, connect to a database, validate the object passed through the URI and send back a response in XML. After looking at the code and understanding it, I thought to myself, "Why not do this in PHP? Can't I achieve the same thing in PHP with a lot less lines!?" As far as I know, I believe so. If PHP can obtain a variable using $_GET or $_POST method, connect to database using MySQL, validate it, and send back a response in XML-format--with even less lines than JSP, why not do it? My concern is, can PHP replace the JSP source code found in that article? Wouldn't I be able to achieve the same result with PHP? --- PHP is a great OOP language and it's a powerful language. I think I can stay using PHP with AJAX over Java. If there are those who would like to disagree, please tell me the advantage of using Java Servlets (JSP). Thank you.
  4. Wow Tetraca, thanks for that interesting info. I didn't know uTorrent was made in C++. I love uTorrent! It's so fast and small and portable! Wow, Azereus takes up that much!Hm... I'm so confused! I don't know which is better! Lol, still I will finish studying both languages. It's better to know both than one--leaves me open for more jobs.
  5. after learning the basics of Java and came across the GUI paint tutorial, I was very turned off. Until I recently found out that C++ has that too. I was about to turn back to C++ but now I've come to think that I should study both. I also just found out that with Swing library I have different options of how it would look? It just upsets me that because of the JVM, Java programs are slow. Although they're powerful, its speed sucks. I'm just hoping that Java improves this one. If Java finally gets Java programs to speed up and have the same speed as C++, it would gain more respect and people would start turning to Java.
  6. Well right now I'm really interested in Information Technology, and I think that's going to be the area I will study in college. I would like to pursue a career in that area as well. So with the education and experience I got from IT, I wonder how I can use that to help the Universal Church. It doesn't have to be a big contribution to the community, it can be as small as a ministry within my church only. I want to contribute this gift to my church group, for example maybe during services? events, maybe even a church website, something like that is suffice.
  7. I'm like the guy who posted this. I too am about to build my first computer. It seems that I have all the supplies I need. But the thing I'm worried about is the Case Cooling Fans (120mm / 80mm). I forgot to buy a fan for my case. I did buy a heatsink for my cpu but I didn't know the case needed one too. So... would it still be okay if I let my pc run without a case fan?
  8. So in that case, does this mean that the Wii console has the ability to play Flash games? Well it seems that a wiimote can be used to play flash. If it is, then wow, ActionScript beat Java to it when it comes to console game writing. Funny that I find Actionscript a little inferior to Java.

  10. To Christians, we believe that God has a purpose for us and we all have gifts and talents to help minister to people. I think that one of my ministries is something to do with computers. Since I am a "tech wiz" and all, why not use it to His Will. The thing about this is I have no idea what to do with my skills and utilize them for God. I know there are fellow brothers and sisters here in this forum, so could you guys help me please?
  11. The first thing that came to me was "Joomla!" and when I scrolled down to find out it is built on Joomla! I like the color scheme, the banner is tight. However, something wants me to see less white space (probably when you add the content that'll solve the problem). Overall, it looks like a great site. Just make sure the content you put will be reliable and useful so you can keep visitors coming.
  12. I agree with your review. It's a great film! I like how the storyline is very simple yet you get so many laughs off it. I love the move "Iron Locust" done by the koreans (that cracked me up so much). Although most of the jokes are stupid funny, I believe the audience don't mind it so much just because it's soo good. I think Will Ferrel is the life in that movie (Even though the other actors are funny as well) I love Will's funny pompous character like he did in Anchorman.
  13. Hmm I suggest you post a resume in Monster.comI'm only 17 and posted my resume there with all these programming languages and other technologies. On the second day I started getting these full-time offers already. Since then I'm still getting offers. If only I get of my lazy *bottom* and finish what I have to do so I can start on my portfolio site (which is my main purpose of getting hosted here) then I can really get accepted to these jobs.If you're a good web developer/designer then you can sign up to GetAFreelancer.com and bid on projects there. I made some money off it and people there don't pay cheap (as long as you got a good portfolio or have enough proof). But if you're going to work in a place like Taco Bell, hm... I really have no idea about those kind of things sry. I do want a part time job as well.
  14. It's true, these things happen all the time. I remember watching a show in Discovery Channel or History channel where there are underage brothels in Singapore or some other Asian country. It is where some Americans over the age of even 50 go to meet girls in ages around 10. More unbelievable is that the ones who hold these brothels are their mothers. Maybe it can't be helped that there is no other way to earn money in these 3rd world countries. An actual footage I remember seeing was when an American was being filmed going inside one of the brothels and I saw one of the boys jumping with joy. (I believe he's one of the brothers of the girls). I thought to myself, they are so happy just to earn money no matter how they got it. It is a desperate country and something has to be done with it.
  15. Wow, that's a pretty weird story. Maybe this lady is a lesbian by choice (not by nature). I think she's trying to stay lesbian or something but still feels for guys like you.
  16. The problem I'm having with OpenOffice is that in its Impress program, animations aren't great. Its animations are not smooth. And what I like about Zoho's power point slides are that it's HTML based and it's possible to view it in fullscreen.
  17. hmm... I guess my view on this is different from my last post. I never took the maturity circumstance in mind. Although I'm not the thread starter, may I ask what your views if it's the other way around. (The guy is 17, the girl is 20-21)
  18. Wow.... I thought it was the other way around. Well I'm 17 year old too and almost went out with this 20 year old, but decided not to because of insecurities.. u noe wat i mean.Well, I think it's fine... as long as she doesn't look 14. My friend is 18 and he's going out wit a sophomore (i think she's 14). She doesn't look the age so it's fine. But if she does look pretty young and you "do it" it's kinda weird and u should stop. But I don't think a break up is necessary, I mean u guys could still wait when she gets older like 16.

  20. In my opinion, I don't find this method a very good SEO practice. Google wouldn't like this and so would other search engines. However, it would be good to teach Random numbers as an exercise or practice for PHP, but even that is misleading in some way. It's okay for maybe a sub-page of a site but that's about it.anyway, thanks for posting this tutorial. This is the first time I learned how to use the rand() function. Thank you again.
  21. Flash has the ability to create 3 dimensional games. I've already played a handful of them. You can check out arcadepod.com to see the 3D games. I know shockwave has some. Runescape is more vector looking than flash. Flash can be realistic too.
  22. I agree, don't act like someone else for her or anyone else. If she doesn't like you for who you are then that's not love now is it? It'd be just infatuation.
  23. As I started to learn Java, I came across a tutorial for making Java applets. As I read on, I found some similarities between Java applets and Flash movies. Right when I saw the source code for a checkerboard picture made in Java, I said to myself, Flash beats Java applets big time! It also took a while to load such a small applet when in Flash it instantly loaded. In my opinion, I think flash beats Java applets when it comes to convenience, appearance, load time, animation, and more (except AJAX). Here are two articles, first supporting java applets and the other flash movies: 1. http://www.winneronline.com/articles/septejavavsflash.htm 2. http://www.realchat.com/ What I found was that: 1. Java applet is bigger 2. Java applets takes longer to download 3. Java applets require more coding These recent times, I have barely seen any online games written in Java. Most of the times these online games have been using Flash technology instead. So what are your opinions on this?
  24. Same here... I'm from Philippines too. But I live in United States right now. Well... there's a lot to share about its culture, so ask us about a specific topic and we'll share it with you.
  25. Yeah, that's what being a doctor have to live by. Sacrificing all your time for your career... it's just too busy to have a stable family (although it is possible to do). But still, I prefer Computer Science than the medical field. Although programming does cause stress, the feeling you get for completing it is worth it.
