1. It's been released for 4 days now, and I wanted to try it, but I didn't. I was waiting for something... And that something is this: Portal Firefox 2.0 Alpha 1. I just wanted to test the new Alpha, so it was a great solution. Portable Firefox doesn't affect your current Firefox installation (However, you cannot run them both simultaneously--Not even with a Batch file). I tested some of its new tab features. One big change is that they removed the one "close" button on the right and relocated it on every single tab--just like how it was before Firefox 1.0, if I remember correctly. When there are too many tabs open, the "close" button will only appear on the focused tab and not on any other tabs. I think they moved the button because of complaints from the Mac users of not being able to close unfocused tabs. However, since I'm testing out Bon Echo (the release's codename) on Windows, I can use the scroll button to close unfocused tabs without the extra close button anyway. I can't find any way to get the one close button back, and I miss it... I also used Bon Echo to do a job which fast click-detecting and fast tab-switching. I had 10 tabs opened for this. It usually takes 3 minutes for Firefox 1.5 to do the job, but it only took Bon Echo 2.5 minutes to do it. And it wasn't hogging a lot of memory afterwards. They also added the new Places feature. Since it's still in developement, they haven't made good-looking graphics for it yet. The "Go" button at the top (between "View" and "Bookmarks") is now renamed to "History". The Bookmarks and History button is no longer selectable in "Customize Toolbar". That's because the sidebar is gone too. Now, when you want to open the histories or bookmarks, it'll open up the Places dialog where you can search through your places. Right now, it's not yet possible to delete selected pages in your history (You can do that in 1.5--Just right click>Delete!). You can only clear every page of your history. So, go here to download Portalble Firefox Bon Echo and try it out!
2. I don't think it should be that hard to write correct sentences. English is my second language too, and I don't find it difficult to write it. After all, what you're writing is essentially what you're saying, right? If you can read aloud what you have written, and it makes sense to you, it'll make sense to most people. However, there are some mistakes that cannot be detected by just reading your writing aloud. You may have used a homonym instead of the word you really mean (like "they're" instead of "their" or "would of" instead of "would've/would have"). These mistakes can't be fixed without a human (that is, a machine can't fix it). However, they probably won't affect our reading speed unless you make them too many times. Another mistake is spelling errors. You can easily fix this by using a spell checker. Google Toolbar (for Firefox and Internet Explorer) includes a handy spell checker. As for the punctuation and the "Return" key. Punctuation is really important. Whenever you sense a pause in your sentences, you should put a comma there. Commas make it much easier for the reader to understand what you mean. You should also capitalize the first letter in a sentence so that it is easier to find when a sentence begins and when it ends. You should use the "Return" key when you're changing the subject. It could be used to get the reader's attention. However, if you use too much of it, none of your paragraphs will get enough attention.
3. I found 13 reasons, but 9 of them are just more detailed versions of the 9 you listed. I'll give the link anyway, so that other people can see the other 4 that you didn't "summarize" here. Things That Java Does Not Have
4. xboxrulz, $137,000 per capital is just an average. What you worth is actually -$2,361,783,543,234. You are in debt to Canada, and all the poor (poor as in "deserving pity") rich people have to pay for your debt... You lazy bum. I worth "$1,818,044" on humanforsale. I got the most money from the gender category (sexism!!!), and I got the second most from the IQ category.
5. There are lots of emails like that (although I don't get them very often). Which one are you talking about? What are some questions in the quiz?
6. Thanks!!! This has helped my a lot! (I really want to use all caps to express my emotions! ) But your instructions were a little unclear, so I had to look in some extra places for help. For those who were slightly confused like me, here are some more detailed instructions: To set up your gmail account in Psi: 1. Create a new account (It should automatically ask you to do that after you install it) 2. Under the "Account" tab, enter your gmail address in "Jabber ID", and enter your password below 3. Go to the "Connections" tab. Check every box. Then enter the host and port as jedipi has said. When you're at the "services discovery" window, and you can't find the msn/aim/etc services: 1. Copy one of the servers that jedipi has said in his post. 2. Paste it in the Addresss box to try that server. 3. If none of the servers had the services you need, go here for a list of almost all the Jabber servers. (hint: ursine.ca had all the services available when I tried it.) I use Google Talk because it's really fast and small. It takes less than 2 seconds for it to start up. That's why I don't like to open Yahoo/MSN/etc. That's also the reason that I don't like Trillian or other similar big programs. I have another question, though. Why do you have to "Register" for the services? I already have an account for each of them, so why do I need to register using the same ID and password? Why can I just "log in"? And do you mind if you change the topic title to "...Your MSN/Yahoo/etc. Friends"? I think it'd be much more fitting for this topic, since your instructions can be used for any service, not just MSN.
7. What kind of domain problem are you having? If it's not too messed up, the admins might be able to change you domain without having to delete your files. It'll probably cost you some credits, but I think it'd be less than having to apply again.
8. What are you talking about? I think you're contradicting yourself. You said that you would get the hydrogen and oxygen (water) from the fuel cell in the first post. Or were you replying to yourself? How does a hydrogen fuel cell work? How does it take hydrogen and create H2O? Does it get the oxygen from the air around it?
9. It's possible to live on Mars without a space suit: Just live inside the spaceship that has landed on Mars. You don't need a suit inside the spaceship. :oWe don't need plants and animals to live on Mars. We just need a dome/building to keep the carbon dioxide out and those satellites you mentioned to get solar power. We can ge the oxygen in the carbon dioxide on our own, with chemistry. It just wouldn't be very efficient. It wouldn't have to take 100 years to do all that.We can live inside the dome/building while scientists work on the outside environment and atmosphere. When they are done with turning Mars into an Earth-like planet, humans can start moving out of the dome and populating the rest of Mars.
10. Fastest, easiest way: Go to Romania, where the exchange rate for their currency (leu) is 33,000 leu = 1 USD. You just need about 35 USD to get $1,024,307 leu. There, you're a millionaire. But you'll have to exchange before Jan 1, 2007, because they're gonna replace it with the New Leu soon, which has more value.
11. If you're working for a small business, they usually don't have the knowledge to get their own server. But if you're working for bigger ones, they should already have a server to host their site on. What do you mean by backgrounds? Did you mean the background color/image for a webpage? You should probably stick with background colors instead of images, because it's more professional. So you shouldn't have to look for an image. If you want more profit, you should charge extra every time they ask you to update it. It would help you get more businesses, so it's a good idea to have one. However, it's not required. You could just link people to some example jobs that you've done.
12. Anyone know its price when it'll come out?I can think of a good reason for them to use Blu-ray disks (besides its large capacity) -- it's more expensive than DVDs and much more rare, so it'll cost more to illegally copy games. But if mainstream computers start supporting Blu-ray disks too, people can easily burn copies of games for a profit, and the disks' price might drop, too. What would the linux drive be used for? To store game data? To play downloaded games from the computer? I don't see how it benefits the PS3.
13. You can go to https://support.xisto.com/ and click the "Terminate your Hosting Account" link to do so yourself. I haven't ever clicked it before, so I don't know how it works. But I think it should guide you through the process. Please come back to the forum and reply to some of the posts if you have a chance!
14. The capacity of your DVDs does not have anything to do with you not being able to burn them. As long as you have a compatible DVD burner, you can burn DVDs. What happened? Could you burn DVDs before you got a new DVD burner?
15. Yes, that's the maximum speed. The server's 2mbps connection is like a bottleneck to your connection. I don't know if that will be the actual speed, though. I'm not an expert at this.
16. Hmm, I don't think it has to do with blocking external images, since the "California Fleece" image at the top didn't load completely. Maybe it's because some settings in your "about:config" has gone wrong. Maybe it's not letting Firefox load pages that are over a certain file size. Do you have any problems with flash sites? If you don't have any special settings you want to keep, I think the easiest solution would be to start a new settings profile in Firefox. You can do that by going to Run... and type in firefox.exe -profilemanager. By the way, what's that bar at the top center? It looks like the dock for Macintosh.
17. Is this 2GBps connection only available in the library? Or limited to just one service provider? Or is it still in research, and not actually implemented yet?Last year, a service provider (HKBN) in Hong Kong started providing 1 GBps connections for about $30 US dollars a month. I guess that's pretty close to what UK offers now. But for connections to non-HK servers, the speed was significantly slower.
18. Hmm, it says on the wiki mozilla page that the Undo Closed tab feature is "pushed to A2", so I guess it won't be available until the second Alpha?I don't like this Spell-As-You-Type idea. If the dictionary is included in the default download, it would increase the filesize. But if it can be downloaded seperately (perhaps like an official mozilla extension), it'd be great.
19. dhanesh: the article on ZDNet had given some ideas on where they get the money to buy the storage space. It might be a paid service for accounts with more space, and they could also sell backup DVDs.I wonder if this GDrive would make your files public, like they would be on a shared network. And if their drives crash, would they attempt to recover the files? But this may all be just a rumor. It's so secretive that the Google Blog doesn't even talk about it.
20. I couldn't understand the code you've given, so I couldn't simplify it. Instead, I decided to code it from scratch. Here it is:
Hello, world. Click me please.
This will do almost exactly what you wanted. At first, the only thing visible will the paragraph, which contains the text "Hello, world. Click me please.". When it is clicked, the paragraph will become invisible, and the hidden textbox will appear and take its place. Then, you can edit the textbox. I don't think double-clicking can be detected by Javascript, so I made a button that can be pressed when you are done editing. When the button is pressed, the textbox and button disappear and the paragraph reappears. That is basically how the whole script works. Now I'll explain what each of the lines do. HTML: The first line is the paragraph. The onclick attribute is used to trigger the JavaScript. The second line is the beginning of the form. The onsubmit attribute is used to stop the form from submitting, therefore reloading the page. Third and Fourth are the textbox and button. The type="hidden" attribute is to make them invisible. Again, onclick is used to trigger the JavaScript. And finally, the value attribute is to add the text to the button. java script: The first 4 lines store different nodes into variables for faster access. Here are what they store, respectively: the paragraph, the text inside the paragraph elememt, the textbox, the button. In the first function change(): In the first line, the textbox's text will be changed to the same as the paragraph's text. Then in the second line, the paragraph element is hidden from view. In the third, the textbox will change from a hidden input box to a textbox input box. In the fourth line, the button will change from a hidden input to a button input. In the second function changeBack(): In the first line, the paragraph's text is changed into what you entered in the textbox. In the second, the paragraph is set to display: block, which basically makes it visible. In the third and fourth line, the textbox and button are both set back to hidden inputs again. I hope you could understand this code. If you have any questions or if you want me to change the code, just reply and tell me. I didn't know what you mean by "to have it in PHP". PHP can't be used to do interactive things in your browser.
21. vujsa has found out that this probably isn't a bug in the credits system. If you replied to a spam topic and the topic gets deleted, your credits will be deducted too. So, if you see a spam topic, you should use the report button to tell us about it, and don't reply to the topic or you'll be punished also. Quatrux: If none of your posts were deleted, I don't know why your credit was lowered. Maybe you forgot about some of your posts, or maybe there is still a bug in the system.
22. I think the only way you can do this is to use frames in your home page. Here's the HTML code: <frameset> <frame src="the_real_home_page.htm"></frameset>But if you do that, when your visitors want to view your site's source code, they will only see the mask's source, not the visible page's source. Also, they cannot bookmark specific pages because what they'll bookmark is the main page containing the frame. That's why I don't like to use frames. If you still choose to use it, here's another thing you can do to further cloak your site. When your mouse hovers over a link, the status bar will show you where it links to. You can use Javascript to change this text: function statustext(){ window.status='http://karlokazo.net;; return true;}document.onmouseover = statustext();document.onmouseout = statustext();However, this would prevent your visitors from knowing where the pages are located, therefore, they will not be able to come back to that specific page again. Does anyone know another way to do this without frames?
23. I have this problem too. It sometimes works for me if I ftp files to http://www.mydomain.com/ instead of subdomain.astahost.com, but sometimes it doesn't. I want to know the solution too, and why it does this.
24. turbopowerdmaxsteel, you left off the question to the puzzle. The question is: Who keeps the fish? Wow, this one took me a long time. But I finally got it after making numerous tables. The answer is :[spoil]German[/spoil] If you're stuck, try making a table with the nationality or house number as the top row, and the other stuff as the... um, here's an example: ________________________________ ______| Norw | Briton | German | ... Coffee| yes _|__ no __|__ no __| Water |_ no _|__ yes__|__ no __| ...
25. Yes, you can install the SMF forum and all the extensions you need. There're absolutely no problem doing that at all.And yeah, I've used the SMF arcade before. It's pretty good, and not much different from the IPB one. I just wish they would make more games for SMF, though. I'd still use SMF even if it doesn't have the arcade.
