My Url Stopped Working! Yet another problem
electriic ink replied to Jettison's topic in Web Hosting Support
Your page is working fine. The page which says "We're coming. Eventually." on it. It was probably just a bit of minor downtime. What was the error message returned? -
Rounded Edges In Photoshop An easy way to do this
electriic ink replied to green fairy's topic in General Discussion
Another great ps tutorial. I probably should get photoshop some time, it looks a lot better than paint shop pro. Notice from cmatcmextra: I'm moving this topic to the tutorials section in Xisto Graphics. Henceforth, please post all future graphics tutorials in that forum. -
Web Design Is Changing! screen resolution wise...
electriic ink replied to cragllo's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Two problems with that reason: Dial-up still exists and some of us still use it and those which do get drawn away from image-heavy sites. Bandwidth. This is still limited and an site with large images means lots of this needed. I like the idea of 1024x768 becoming standard. My websites have always been designed for user's under that resolution (because that's my screen res). If it's the standard, people can't hold that against my site -
I took swimming lessons for about 5 years (from 6 - 11). I stopped when I could swim 1.5km because I got tired of swimming every week for that long, I couldn't be bothered to swim anymore and iswimming anything more than this in 30 minutes would be too difficult for me.Now I swim about every year when I go on holiday and put into practice everything I learnt beforehand. It's fun and I can do more than the average person I see people struggling even to swim a length.Swimming is one of the only skills I have not lost and I love doing it.

Notepad. I like Inspirion use it for everything and test my code out offline. It saves in any file format you want, you can even make use non-existant extensions and it will still save it.It doesn't come with spyware or any other type of malicious coding and it finishes loading as soon as you open it.None of the other software producers can say all of this about their file editing product. That's why I'm voting notepad.

Vector Studios a site with graphics tutorials and more
electriic ink replied to Sprite's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Sorry about that Sprite. * moves topic back * I understand that English may not be your first langauge but the way you introduced the site in the topic made it seem like someone elses. While I'm posting I might as well comment on the forums. I like the graphics, although to get people to sign-up and post more, it's good to make the forums and posts viewable to guests so they get a feel for your forums' atmosphere. If you don't, people will register but they may end up not liking your forums so you'll end up with loads of dead accounts, which will take up mysql space if/when you move the forums over here. -
Hi Jettison and welcome to the community, nice name btw. If you ever need any help with the hosting don't feel embarassed to ask for help or anything Have fun posting and good luck with your fansite.

3600-year-old Egyptian Statue Found Discovery

Nice find It interests me to find out what life was like thousand of years ago. In some ways the technology and inventions were more advanced than the ones we have now. -
Gift For Cmat [from Biscuitrat] attempt #2
electriic ink replied to biscuitrat's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Thanks biscuitrat * makes default sig * I like it, just needs a border that's all. -
I'm sure there's a php script out there which could get the operating system of a user and I'm sure you could use fopen(), fwrite(), and fclose() to create the shortcut. I'm not sure it that's actually works, but you put the following code into notepad: start http://mysite.somehost.com/ and save it as an open.exe and run it and if memory serves this should act as a shortcut. I'm not promising that it will work, it's just something I remember reading Just read Command Prompt help guide and now I'm 90% sure it will. It's easier than that to find out the path to a Windows user's desktop. It's %USERPROFILE%\Desktop. This takes out the trouble of finding out the user's username which would probably require ActiveX.

Cpanel Cpanel is your slave. An easy to navigate feature which will guide you through doing all you'd want to do about your site. It adds subdomains, ftp accounts and mime types and can allow you to program cron jobs (which are useful for mailing lists etc) and all the other advanced stuff that comes with Xisto Everything is there for you under the click of a button along with all the current statistics for your domain. File Manager File Manager is a component of cpanel. If you want to add pages and edit them, you'll need to click here. Click on the icon next to /public_html/ and you'll be directed to a new directory. This is where all your files and folders are stored which are visible to all users when they access your site. Clicking on a folder displays information about it. Clicking on the icon next to the folder directs you to the files and folder that are stored inside it. Cpanel has its own user manual. Click here to read it.

Yes, 500,000 page views will need about 500mb b/w. Well in the words of one of our admins... When you are hosted credits go down 0.01 per 15 mins (which adds up to 1 total per day). When you are not hosted, credits do not go down. Also: At -30 credits your account is terminated and all files are permanently REMOVED. There is no way to recover your files!!! At 0 credits your account is suspended At 4 credits your account is unsuspended 10 is the recommended quantity of credits to have A script automatically performs a check of this every hour. Your account will NOT be immediately unsusepneded or suspended once the required credits are acheived

-- No ads, no popups, none of that. -- You can have the package which gives you 500mb b/w for 10 credits or the 5,000mb b/w one for 30 credits. 1,000mb b/w can serve you about 1,010,000 page views so... 5,000mb b/w can serve you over 5 million visitors a month! Based on stats for Xisto.com on 1/8/04 Xisto does not offer more than 5gb b/w per month. For more than 5gb bandwidth you should consider going into paid hosting

I do not mysql much but don't you have to close the connection with the database? Try putting mysql_close(); before the header command. Also, I've just noticed, that that's not how you redirect someone with php. It should be: header("location:agenda.htm"); Try these small changes and then see if it works

Accepted Hosting Email Only No response in Application thread
electriic ink replied to Frayed's topic in Web Hosting Support
Same happened to me except it turned to my advantage because I had 200 then Anyways, maybe you should pm an admin and see it they can change the package you asked for. I don't think Johnny has access to the credits control panel so try another one... Notice from BuffaloHELP: Edited as requested. -
New Web Site Design. What ya think?
electriic ink replied to dontmaimyourself's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm gonna have to go with the second one, because the loading on the first one took forever. You really ought to decrease the size of those banners and the first one doesn't have vaid css. Although I like the way the valid coding images fit in with the background. The second one is quick to load without looking awful. It had both xhtml and css valid. The design was simple and easy to navigate round but the valid coding images didn't fit in with the background. If you could get the graphics on #1 to be easier on the loading, I'd have voted for that but they aren't so it's #2 :DCurrent: 8.5/10Possible New: 9/10 -
The reason why the entertainment forum and others have no post count is because they are for your pleasure - as it was described to me. Also, the credit numbers seem kind of unpredictable when you have a small amount. This problem doesn't seem to effect those of us who have above ten :DErm biscuitrat, think you made a typo there, it's 0.01 instead of 0.1

Miniclip's got a good collection of games for you to use. Looks like a good 100 games there: http://www.miniclip.com/webmasters/en/

Yes I know that but this tutorial is called Basic Html so I pointed out that there should be no forward slash before the closing bracket. He also said that that xhtml tag should go after the <head> tag in an html document. I wrote the html 4.01 doctype declaration pointing out that this one should go before the html tag and unlike xhtml, not the head tag and also implied that no attributes were necessary inside the <html> tag. Okay? Also, just incase people are still unclear about the structure of either html or xhtml documents, rvovk's set it out for us in the previous post

Just yesterday, I answered the same question to someone else. Please search the forums and check that the question has not been asked. Also, when you posted this topic in the how tos forum the answer was staring at you. Anyhoo, there's a good login, registration and secret page script over here.

Thought I'd pick up on a few errors made: If people are gonna be using the code he wrote (and thus using the langauge he wrote it in) it should be like this instead: <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=windows-1250"> Same for the doctype declaration, which should be before the <html> tag not the <head> one: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional //EN" "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; Also, a simpler way of aligning text would be to do this: <p align="center"> Centre Aligned </p><p align="right"> Right Aligned </p> Additionally, putting the align tag in an image doesn't change whether it shows in the middle, left or right hand side of a page. Doing this probably ends up devalidating your code. Please test your scripts before printing them. If you want centre aligned images, this is the code to use: <p align="center"><img src="bla.jpg" alt=""></p> You must include the alt="" tag in an <img> tag. Other than that a good tutorial entering people into the world of html

How To: Change Your Website's Index File a simple trick using the .htaccess file A simple tutorial which only involves editing one little file. Useful for those of us who have mime-typed extensions or who are creating lots of test design files and want an easy way to make the design they like best their default file. Create a file called .htaccess in the /public_html/ folder if you don't have it. I think one should be there already when you get your site so if it isn't you should create it anyway! In the file write the following: DirectoryIndex best_design.weirdext Replace best_design.weirdext with the file you want your index page to be. Open your website and if all has worked well, you should have your customized index page. All agreed it's a lot simpler than the mouseover tutorial a did . Any questions/comments regarding this tutorial

When you get accepted an email is sent to the email address you provided when you posted your free webhosting account request. In that they tell you to go to this url. The instructions given there are pretty easy to follow so I won't go into what you do there. Your cpanel username is the username you asked for in your account request and your password is your forum password. The password can easily be changed when you login to cpanel. You will need to set up the ftp accounts yourself through cpanel. The url for cpanel is you.trap17.com/cpanel. Replace you with the domain name you specified. Acidify, have you heard of topic hijacking because you just did it. Start a new topic next you want to ask questions in someone elses thread. 0.01 credits go down about every 15-20 mins which adds up to 1 credit goes down per day. You should post till you have enough credits to stay off for the amount of days you want to stay off without getting suspended. One quality post a day should make you credits rise. NO EMAILS ARE SENT BY Xisto REGARDING YOUR ACCOUNT'S STATUS. At 0 your account is suspended with no warning and at -30 credits your account is deleted. You should know how many credits you have.
