What's Your Favorite Game System - Console select one from each poll
dre replied to ICE-XG's topic in Computer Gaming
Nintendo 64 and the PC are by far my most favorite gaming machines...of all time. -
There's one by NASA called World Wind, however, it's more of a satellite imaging program rather than something focused more streets, directions, ect.

Never underestimate the power of ice cream. In my experience, it does wonders like nothing else does.

Don't even think about buying that crap, unless you love being ripped off. There are many Samsungs (the best monitor company, in case you didn't know) readily available in that price range that will offer 2000:1 or even 3000:1 contrast ratio, which dwarfs that 700:1 you got there. And 5 ms response time? Try 2 ms for the Samsung. Try looking for the model I have right now, it's a Samsung SyncMaster 931BW, it's a 19 in. wide screen also, and I got it for $150...last year. I took a quick look at Newegg, and they didn't seem to have any of the models I'm looking for, but look around in the stores. I got mine at Best Buy, and Fry's Electronics have better deals as of now. So to finish off, I highly recommend against buying a big-name monitor.

Peer-to-peer An article I wrote for my college mag
dre replied to angad619's topic in General Discussion
You didn't mention that peer-to-peer is important in the gaming field, and how it could potentially perform better than the client-server model. Although it seems like that's not what your work is concerned about, you can't skip such an important part of it. -
No other free hosting can even come close to Xisto. On others like Freewebs and Lycos, they put so many ads and other crap that it took about 45 seconds to load up a puny html file that's only 4 kb and with 2 pictures. And for mysterious reasons, the site would reload as it is loading on Lycos and other annoying stuff. Also, the amount of the ads they put up is ridiculous, it took a lot of attention away from the actual website.I'm pretty sure that if I had never found Xisto, then I would be hosting my website on my own computer. I don't see any reasons why I should ever use anything besides Xisto.

I've tried this when my computer know-how wasn't as good. What happened was my downloads actually went slower, and they promised that you could pause a download and resume it anytime you want. So, I downloaded 25% or so of a file, paused it, and shutdown the computer. Upon rebooting and trying to resume the download, I received an error message. Trust me folks, this is a waste of time, if you want to pause your downloads without shutting down your computer, then just download with Firefox, it comes standard.

Are We Real? Please read before laughing :P

For all we know, we might be living a brainchild of our own minds. If you want to, you can prove that there is no way to show that anything actually exists. -
An awesome thing about Linux (well at least my version that I'm using, Ubuntu 7.04 AMD 64-bit edition) is that it lets you try out the OS without actually installing anything. You just boot from the CD and try out Ubuntu with no worrying about it doing anything to your MBR. I think this is just the neatest thing, a very creative and helpful tool for letting people try out Linux.

Microsoft Tries To Take Down Linux... Oh Microsoft, how silly...

Maybe I'll just go back to MS-DOS -
What's so different about it's looks? Looked exactly the same a year ago as this picture shows. Having your computer in a small space is nice until something inside malfunctions, or you want to upgrade. Then you'll be in for a fun time.

Really depends on what you're running. Several benchmarks have shown that games don't care too much about cache as long as you have at least 512kb, more than that makes no difference. Also, keep in mind the important fact that AMD and Intel run very differently, so where cache may be important for one, for the other, that might not be the case. The reason why the AMD 2.0 ghz is branded 3000+ is because in benchmarks, it's able to perform better than an Intel counterpart running at 3.0 ghz.

Recovering Lost Files After Restore Point My compter is screwed up.
dre replied to arza1's topic in Hardware Workshop
That's why you download AVG 7.5 Free and let it constantly scan any file being run. They update their library about every 1-2 days, so you have a very good chance of stopping the virus as soon as it's found. -
Anything is possible in the world of the internet. So yes, you can get it for free at your own risk.

Slide phones are usually the ones that break easiest. Eventually, the sliding mechanism will also umm...lose grip? Not sure how to say it, but it will slide without your control. If you're looking for a sturdy phone that can take a beating, then the original choco bar phones are the way to go. I bought my ROKR E1 used, and it already looked like it took a beating, followed by yours truly dropping it numerous times, and to this day, it lives on with its battle scars.

I've just finished a Psychology class at a community college and nothing was ever said about learning lucid dreaming. I personally don't think you can just learn it and just decide that you're going to have a lucid dream. Most of my dreams are lucid dreams, yet I haven't done anything to "make" myself get them. This is just another pseudoscience that can't be proved in any way.

I Love My Neighbor, I Get Free Internet From Them
dre replied to musicfreak's topic in Computer Networks
That's when the magic of GPS comes in. But when it comes to wireless smooching, I used to be as guilty as you . Right now I'm thinking of setting up a network to allow people to log in, however, I'll restrict their bandwidth and make them register before they will be able to use it. Everything will be logged and I'll use Ethereal to check out exactly who is using my network. -
Let it use 150+ mb, I got plenty more waiting. Since I do cruise around with the back and forward button a lot, this will come in handy. However, daredevils with 256mb (or less) might find this information more useful.

If you start sucking the exhaust pipe, then you might die. Honestly, cows fart more gases per day than cars make, this global warming scam is alive and well because of profits and payoffs. And did you know that Al Gore is one of the leading global warming activists? Obviously you don't know what you're talking about. Interesting sites: https://www.heartland.org/error.html?artId=11548 http://www.verizon.net/central/mysite/index.html Most people will say "Yeah, it sure seems like the Earth is warming." Go to the many other places that exist in the world and you'll find yourself mistaken. Just go to Russia and tell them that the Earth is warming...try it during the winter. They'd find it rather hopeful, since -40 Celsius temperatures are no fun.

I tried this and my and I was able to get a new maximum upload speed by about 27 kbps, and download stayed the same. Other than that, nothing went wrong...at all.

If you're looking to kill somebody, there's nothing better than ninjitsu

What about ninjitsu? It's a pretty deadly martial art.
