It depends on website theme and what you want to do with it. Community websites have a lot of content or the link to the content which is internal. I'm of opinion that backlink to your own site or copyright and links are supposed to be there for average blog. You can even place widgets which are small in footer. It's only important if you want recurring code or content there. Some people (including myself) keep analytics code & internal links at the bottom of the page. Some people rarely scroll to bottom that's why i prefer to keep important stuff above the fold and less important reader stuff at the footer.

Adobe is evil because adobe is not at all trying to get itself on linux/unix platform. Reason is because of profit which i agree is low on these platform. Apple's point against adobe is valid. No. You don't need macintosh OS to program for iphone.There are emulators that you can use on windows from which you can install MAC OSX and then program for iphone. Many companies in india are actually doing this because buying license for OSX is way costly and even selling the iphone app cant recover the cost immediately. True, but then again they're trying to tie consumer to their products. For example, celebs and artists use macs. They rarely need OS upgrades, but more of application upgrades are required. Lol, that applies to Dell as well. Wrong. Apple is Unix based. Apple uses BSD code. So any application that works on BSD/LINUX can work on apple. You can run almost 60-80% of software that comes with ubuntu on apple OS X. There is free software repository and directories which maintains such software for apple. So there is no shortage of free software on apple's side. In fact i'll say that windows have less free software than apple & linux. Plus, there are many softwares in the field of graphic design, music, video (both free & commercial) which are only created for apple (if you inquire you'll know the exact number of industry softwares).

Well facebook will be more popular if they allow restriction to profiles. I mean privacy settings. Many people want to feature of limiting wall posts to certain groups from seeing at all. Though notifications can be hidden but there is no way one friend from X group can be kept from reading wall post of another friend from Y group. This type of flexibility in privacy is very helpful because that way noobody from office can spy on personal life of some employee. Also limiting the data that is available to search engine about your profile is another better option to improve facebook. Such minor addition to it can make more people stick to the service. Twitter- too small and hard to manage in 140 char. Almost got spammed because of internet marketing people.Myspace- was good when it was only for musicians but now it's going down because they made it general.Facebook & orkut - are more important than search engine, can be powerful connection making tool or games, promotion service etc. Just they need some tweaking on privacy part.

Platform which is used heavily is likely to be targeted more by antivirus companies. Antivirus companies are realizing the trend of people buying more apple products so that way they're building more virus solutions for that platform. (I hardly see any hackers/crackers making viruses cause creating variants everyday for virus is simply huge task which is not rewarded even if in case of hacker/cracker being extremely mentally unstable).Apple is right with doing business. They're keeping software at some price and for which they're asking us to pay nothing wrong with that. They're into open source as well. They've safari and some other softwares for free. It's not that they're completely commercial. I do agree that DRM based music is too much. But then again in the age of torrents, why people will buy music is another case. Again freebie-sucking thinking is not fair for almost everything on internet. Atleast apple doesn't take 60% profit for apps/products from sellers just like amazon do.

Tata NANO is the car which is available for 2000$. You can search for it the google. I think cost approximately goes for 2300$ or so. And about kindle & tablet misunderstanding, yes many people here compare it that way.I think kindle is no more needed if one has to pay anything higher than 100$- tablet or similar gadget is worth that money. I doubt there is worthy possibility of some good tablet at 35$. I mean ipad restricted multi-tasking at cost of 400$ with ipad so with 35$ it's hard to see any tablet can handle multiple-applications. That will require better processor & tweaks to android than what they're planning for. There was claim from india for 10k bucks computer by IIT. But i don't see any release of this computer. I expected this release atleast for schools, villages etc. But then again if XO laptops which are priced at 100$ are possible then chances of lowering the price of tablet gadgets are possible as well. Still i can't see how tablets can be priced at something like 35$.

Not open source, It can't be done for long if it's Free. Not all open source distributions are free. Some open source software programs are paid. If you buy the software or distro you get the source. Many examples like, revolution theme of wordpress, SKYOS etc etc. Again my point remains valid here that with freebie sucking mentality you can't build profit. Microsoft also entered into open source but they restrict the level at which freebies are given. Freebies to attract and giving things away for nothing in return has difference. Ubuntu with minimum repository software is enough for average PC user needs and they'll never pay for the software. This is the point where many OS makers are actually killing themselves.(There is assumption here which is valid that once people get used to it they'll pay in future to keep using it). That is the reason canonical started adding commercial software into the repository. Same is the case with simplymepis, linspire and some other distribution. Let's face it, you can't survive for long if you just give away everything you got for free to the world. That way, business ends up being hippy cult and moreover people don't value it. People only value things for which they struggle to get it and they pay for it. This freebie-sucking mentality is atleast restricted at server side business, where people (or companies) are supposed to pay for the service/guidance etc. Unless there is any profit to be made from it, only fool running business will fund it. Look around many free softwares are running without fund.

I don't know but looks like my point 5 years ago is still valid. Processors unable to make it to 4ghz. All that we see is multi-core processing innovation. That way we can say that single processor giving such huge speed is still in theory. I don't know but i'll wait to see any processor breaking this assumption of mine. I would love to see any processor with such high speed. Till then processor maximum possible speed possibility is stagnated. I don't know how come cloud computing can be answer to this but atleast it'll give better performance.

You completely missed the point. Ubuntu didn't survived because of user donation but because of mark shuttleworth managed to fund billions for it upto 3 years of ubuntu release. Do you think ubuntu is possible without funds huge like that? Office equipments costs money, internet connection costs money, same goes with developer jobs. Do you want to work on free for nothing ? No way, money is important and getting things done quickly is more important that that. Many open source and freeware products are discontinued without funds. (Point is money is important). Trolltech (makers of KDE/QT) were sold to nokia because of this. Do you think if they were profitable by inch they'll get sold to any other company ?Nokia bought them cause they wanted platform for their mobile phones. Let's face it. Money attracts money and profits can be only made if business owner spends some money on processing of service and products. No one can get rich with open office or linux. It just gets our work done if we're low on funds. This is the reason many game development comapnies resist releasing games for platform like this which is less affordable. Besides that Only MNC/Fortune 500 companies can afford to run freeware maintaining balance of money and profit. And if big companies starts to jump on open source and freeware then there will be adware in freeware. That means for example, some of the ubuntu's release are using dell or other proprietary software in repository. Unless such commercial injection is added in freeware/open source,there is no funding to those projects. Though windows 7/office requires payment, it keeps business running. How many business keeping their profit sky rocketed with free things ?say open office ? (Freebie-sucking mentality only allows people to get things done, not profit).

I don't understand one thing though. How come virus is shipped with any USB or HD. Do they recycle their old disks or something ? If things like USB or HD are supposed to be shipped directly from manufacturing unit then i see no reason why such units are having defects.

The reason we don't remember dream is because dreams are result of our subconscious memory and instructions or impacts. Because of this many uncompleted actions are shown within our dreams. For example, many times we see dreams where we are falling from some higher place or mountain, jet etc. Why don't we see anything after the fall ? Because we never programmed our mind for that. We assume that after fall there is end of life hence we trigger our mind to wake us up. And that is the reason we wake from dreams with some shock. Many times we don't remember dreams because they're from our subconscious memory.What we suppress in real life is not always suppressed from memory. Many things in memory remain forever and it's just that they get back with memory and not that you can remember when you're conscious. Some signs that will force XP users to upgrade are like .NET 4.0 Framework supporting Windows XP SP3 (And most of the developers are rarely going to upgrade to SP3-though some upgraded to it already)- I know i can't upgrade cause there isn't much in it security wise and other upgrades are rarely needed. Other than that future updates of Adobe will start to support only vista and windows 7. Though it's better to upgrade to windows 7 than vista but in any case. Upgrade is painful for many XP users. Though rare people are going to use IE in future unless they offer something which is not offered by any other browser. Other than that i see chrome users decline these days because of lack of add-ons in comparison to opera and firefox. No doubt big thing will be next firefox/Opera upgrade where there is HTML5 support, then opera mini's (mobile browser)launch with HTML5 support. I'm interested in some of the HTML5 updates but waiting for firefox to upgrade. No upgrade to any other browser till then. I don't know what opera mini will offer with new addition of HTML5 features,waiting for that as well.

Ah that is huge thread. But i have enough data that by merely assuming post length will not give us much credits. I posted big character posts in last week for which i awarded only 3 cents. So i'm of opinion that unless other parameters really play into action we can't say that post length entirely pays us. I can tell you for sure that 10 lines of posts x 5 posts and you'll end up only getting 3$ but in reality you're supposed to get more if only characters are to be assumed in this system.I don't know how much is mycent improved but if our updates are random(more like manual by admin) then chances are that we're not getting paid as per algorithm as we thought. It could be entirely different in this downtime.

I don't think all the bottles contain poison or get into poisonous plastic after some time. I think you're not aware of some brands of bottles like KOR, Nigel and many other brands. These brands use recyclable plastic or plastic which has no harmful contents for years. I don't know how much confident they're about their claims. You can search on amazon for "environment friendly water bottles". And you'll land with these bottle searches. You can see how good water bottles are these : And here is nalgene. I'm of opinion that coke and pepsi bottles are more harmful than any other plastic bottle. Even some commercial water distributors have poor plastic quality in their packaging.

If i'm not wrong if this thing manages to catch grammar and other mistakes then most of non-native english speakers are doomed. By post quality they mean not using "one liners" in posts. There are some users using one liners posts a lot and that is why people are saying about post quality. I don't know for sure but we need a lot of explanation from opaque for post quality.If i'm not wrong longer posts: number of characters, admin rating to post (as per opaque's explanation), rank of the thread, pageviews and few other thread factors plus there are few more things. Like linking to wikipedia or reputable resources will likely to be rewarded. But if you've to earn mycent then keep number of characters in mind because this is essential in mycent whether other parameters are known or not. Most of time you end up ignoring other parameters so atleast keep "number of characters" in mind.

Well canonical is in good financial position for the ubuntu. But free software is increasing freebie-sucker mentality. Because of which there is likely to be a time when raising funds for the projects will be issue. Cause people will hardly pay for the products developed on the free platform. After some extent raising donation becomes difficult if the platform is not giving much return to the donators or investors. For example, user donation can't be recurring every 6 month cycle. Not everybody can afford to donate for platform. (I'm excluding commercial supporters here for example). I mean we're trying to build hippy economics out here with this ?. How can growing population will able to get jobs from this free platform and development ?

I'm trying to get one synth melody from "night head genesis" anime. It's hard ot get it out from audacity. The reason is that the video is in .mkv format. I have to convert this video format first or have to extract audio from it then have to cut the respective melodic tune. Don't know which editor or software will support such thing. Not sure sony sound forge will support .mkv or .rmvb format. Anyone have other idea ?

Icon thing means shortcut to the application. That means application is installed on your computer. If i'm not wrong then there is no desktop version though you can go to their website to use it as far as i know. You can also download the mobile version of their software. The desktop version of the messenger is not tried by me(and i'm not even sure its there or not) so i can't tell you if it's work for all windows dekstop. But i have used mobile version of the messenger. It's cool and if you're travelling then this messenger is quite handy.
