FTP, File Transfer Protocol. It's a way of moving files around. (Like copy and paste) but is used by most people her to move files from their computers to the server that host their website.
You can setup a FTP server to hold files that you need to share with other users. Then they can login as "anonymous" or with a login password to download those file to their computer.
This was the short explanation and it's a lot more to it.

Your center text is under the left menubar with mozilla. Colors OK, but why aqua on the left menu ?? ot clashes with your color theme.
I'm to old.... 12 -16... that was 35 years ago...
I didn't read it, I bookmarked it because it's fun to see changes on hosted users.

Just what we did, first locate your directory and place the test file there "index.html and from there it was a cake walk.It took awhile for your files that was mis-placed to get out of memory... As soon as I saw the directory folder we were on the right way.Enjoy your webpages.... you owe me a nice logo... <jk> ;)Nils

You should upload the files to the public_html folder. Then it will migrate to the www folder.If you don't have a index.html file you should make sure you delete all old index.htm index.html, and index.phpGive a filename of one or more of the files you have uploaded and if you created subdirectiries give those names also.move your files to the public_html directory firstNils

OK, didn't anyone tell you... OpaQue is Bill Gates in disguise...
Just kidding. there are some explanations here:
http://forums.xisto.com/intro.php and
here http://forums.xisto.com/faq.php
They also run a paid hosting company http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Trap 17 is another free host where the users have different criteria to get hosting than here. http://forums.xisto.com/index.php
If I understand it correctly advertizing pay for the hosting space we use. The exposure Xisto and affiliate companies receive from the quality posts here increases the revenue base and create income. So we using this service in a professional manner will help boost the user base. This will again increase the revenue base and thus (hopefullly) increase the revenue. What better way to get positive exposure than from professional users posting and contributing.
This is my personal opinion since I do not have anything to do with the corporate side of the business.
It's "FREE HOSTING" paid for by your and others post contribution. So instead of paying in $ you pay in effort and quality post.

How can you call MSN "Stupid" It's an inate object...
Server Error in '/' Application.Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

It's actually the same way on all email servers You can use
yourmail@yourdomain.astahost.comyourmail+yourdomain.astahost.comyourmail.yourdomain.astahost.comyourmailIt all depends on how the server parses the username. Som email programs can use "yourmail" only and it takes the rest from your mx address after the mail.yourdomain.astahost.comIt's how you are recognized.

Chris,Congratulation, I'm glad you got it up and working. Sorry I had to leave yesterday before we got it up and running. Nice site... even though I don't like dark sites.. (personal opinion) Took me awhile to figure out the slidebar thingie on top... ;)Nils

I'm trying something similar, 3-column with header and footer. No tables, all is in CSS and CSS formatting.
The center expands as I add content, the sidebar follows the layout and the footer is attached to the bottom of the content.
Here is links to the 2 examples. The first link is the Original Test - short page
and the:
Expanded page - text below screen surface
The purpose for the short page is that I'm trying to have the footer glued to the bottom of the screen unless the data goes past the bottom of the screen then it should be attached to the bottom of the page.
I'll get that working..

Thank you, it's up and running on the test computer.Nils

When you have to retrain people on how to login on monday morning, there is no issue with me teaching them that or have a small utility running at all times.I personally don't use it, but I don't feel like explaining the 5 steps every time. ;)Thanks anyway.Nils

Best Place To Buy Website Names
in Websites and Web Designing
Posted · Report reply
If you have a very popular website with a lot of people linking back to you then the person who bought your wepage can and will make money because people looking for your website will find his and he will have a lot of interesting "Pay Per Click" links there.
So if you don't keep up your "lease" you may loose your domain name. And you may not get it back unless the new owner are willing to transfer it back to you for $$$.
It's like leasing a car, you use it but have to give it back when the lease is up. did you pay for nothing???
You lease a building to setup a shop, did you pay for nothing?
