Hi all,Just an update- http://www.cnet.com/ has a comprehensive article on this subject posted 03/30/05 (or maybe 03/31/05). Good expert oppinions & an industry overview about the upcoming release due out this June/July. Interesting re: MS has yet to support the "need" for a new OS other than just putting more megabucks$$$ into MS's coffers etc. The overall oppinion seems to be >>Just more "whistles & bells" & not much really new with regards to added functionality etc. Will be interesting to see what the price tag is... you can bet it will be a big one. :)RGPHNX

Rest of site loads reasonably fast.Hope this helps,God bless & best wishesRGPHNXps- which template( web creator pgm) did you use fotr site???

Hi kiro,in Cpanel of your hosted account there is a ISP address blocking function. I'm pretty sure you can block a list of ISP addresses if they are in sequence. OR you can enter in each ISP to block once you find out from your stats exactly who the ISPs are that are using up your bandwidth. Don't know if you can block ISPs by a category type (like a proxy server etc.). Problem with this is that over 65% of the people out there with dialup are using dynamically assigned ISP addresses. Which means that if they are on the same ISP subnet as the person/s you want to ban, then they will be banned also.Hope this helps,RGPHNX

Hi Phptech, don't think its trap's dns server. I monitor my site using https://www.siteuptime.com/ & I just checked to see if there are any problems connecting. Nope- Xisto has 100% rating/stats for today. You could also use /cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi to monitor your site's up/access time etc. Don't know of any way you could check just the DNS server.. but you can check the connect thruput to your website.Probably/maybe its the cjb.net.. seem to remember reading several posts here in forumns re: the quality of their service. don't take my word though.. a search for "cjb.net" should get you to the correct posts.Hope this helps, RGPHNXPS- "godaddy.com" has great deals on domain names etc. & their service is extremely reliable.

Hi all,You might also try Tiger Direct for items you can't find at Newegg. Their prices seem to be comparable & service is good. Also check out "Reseller Ratings" for info on specific parts suppliers before you buy. They keep a running rating service on most parts suppliers. Have found their ratings to be mostly accurate & it could save you from buying into a "deal" that is "too good to be true".RGPHNX

Hi Corey,Could you just give LOTS OF details like canute24 requested. The problem you are experiencing can occur due to a malfunction of any of the Win OS files (dlls, exe's etc. loading) or device drivers loading or other installed programs loading etc. - basically Windows is "searching" for something (eg. a file) it should be able to find fast but can't. Then it's looking for subsitiute "backup"/copy files previously dated that will do the same process & allow windows to load successfully. And the list just goes on... etc.If you would give a chronology of when the problem started, what was the OS status before the problem started, what you did before the problem started (if anything), what you did after the problem started to fix it, ... etc.- we could all help get you fixed faster by giving you better(more specific) suggestions. Hope this helps,RGPHNX

Finger Found In A Bowl Of Chili! Eeeeewwwwww
RGPHNX replied to elevenmil's topic in General Discussion
Hi all,It's disgusting & simultaneously sickly funny and the only ones who are laughing all the way to the bank are the attorneys. All this lawsuit for nothing BS has just got to stop re: the chicken episode. Who really got hurt? "Mental trauma" - what BS that is !!The finger may be another matter IF it's for real & not staged. Wouldn't put that past some subhumans out there though.RGPHNX -
Hi cumar11,I had a similar problem w/ my site. I'm almost certain that snlildude87 is correct, as I solved my problem by changing the syntax on one of the files/ subfolders. Servers are particularly picky re: syntax :) because most of them run UNIX/Linux ...etc. Post back & let us all know how the problem resolved.. so others can benefit.RGPHNX

Trojan Removal How to/Best software for removal
RGPHNX replied to gunbound's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Hi gunbound,The reason a trojan is called a trojan is that it's HIDDEN from normal viewing methods( thanks Becca). That INCLUDES some anti-virus & remover programs. Also if it is a brand new trojan, even the best anti-virus/scanner programs may not be able to pick it up at all untill they're updated. Some virusus/trojans etc. are out there for many months before the anti-virus programmers catch up with them.If you've tried this program & that program that have all failed to find the problem, then the time to do some manual investigating is NOW- before more potential damage is done to your system. First, the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry folder and the SYSTEM folder in the registry is a normal windows OS folder - DO NOT DELETE OR MODIFY IT IN ANY WAY !!! << IF YOU DO WINDOWS WILL CRASH.Second, the only way you're going to find out if a malicious "bug"/trojan (that the scanners can't find) has installed itself at this point is to MANUALLY COMPARE the registry on your machine to the registry on a known "clean" machine using the same Windows OS as yours. This is a slow, pain in the B*TT process- just do it. Check(compare) the registry entrys- go line by line & folder by folder.Make sure that you have set windows to show all files (even the "hidden" ones) & extensions before you go looking. The only other option you might have is to boot into "safe" mode & use a DOS based anti-virus program to attempt to identify the potential bug. This sometimes works because some bugs depend on Windows to hide themselves. If All else fails, the last option you have is to re-format & re-install Windows to "clean" the system. B)Hope this helps,RGPHNX -
Hey All,Take the friggin RED pill & wake up- It's really out there... only not like in the movie. RGPHNX

Hey Solar,Xisto does have some better quality info re: tutorials & the like. Also a slightly diff attitude from the forum community slanted toward script development & code mods. etc. Have noticed a little easier/ laid back attitude from members' posts re: better thought out & less etc.Just some observations,RGPHNX

Hi guys,In general if your going to use the computer periodically during the day , then leave it on. Turn it off when you'r done for the day & give it a rest. This generally optimizes the trade offs between mechanical part wear out (eg. hard drive bearings) on repeated startups and "burnout" of electronic circuitry due to temp buildup. Also, "optimizes" the extra power usage from too frequent reboots.Other considerations mostly all apply to thermal buildup which can best be handled thru improved ventilation, AC, & upgraded cooling system add ons (eg. fans, case mods, H2o coolers etc.)Just my 2 centsRGPHNX

Hi heavensounds,True, Opera IS the fastest browser due to smallest "footprint" (ie. compactness of code) & stripped down "features".Just 2 cents worth.

Ooops.. got the author names in previous post reversed. Err.. need more caffeine.Anyway you'all know what I mean. RGPHNX

Hi Galahad,This kind of problem can be caused by either of the following:First1) Did you install the new HD (ie. 160gig) using Seagates' installation/ configuration utility? Make sure you use it to partition the HD (as Dungeon suggested) and NOT a third party partitioning utility (eg. Ranish Partition Magic etc.). Some drive just don't like third party partition utilitys for their initial setups.2) Make sure you make the boot drive partition as small as possible (ie only what you need for the OS).3) Make sure you don't have a "dual" boot conflict situation (again as Dungeon suggested). Disable/ remove any Linux boot programs untill AFTER you have XP installed & booting properly.Hope this helps,RGPHNXps- POST BACK & LET US KNOW THE SOL'N.

Hi mizako,Alperuzi's post is correct. The AGP card (with onboard memory) is the way to go for your config. No limits with your front side bus DMA installed memory on the motherboard- uses the on board memory instead.Hope this helps,RGPHNX

Florisjuh,That seems to be MS's marketing strategy.. lure you in with a lot of whizbang "features".. get you dependent.. then hit you for $ to fix basic (ie. essential) functions- LIKE BANDWIDTH CONSERVATION. Anybody else ??RGPHNX

RGPHNX replied to maddog39's topic in General Discussion
Hi maddog39,Very nice idea/ implementation. Can't wait to see the e-mail forwarding function/ mod. Been looking for something like this for a while. How would you go about making this an exit questionaire(pop up etc.) for your website when visitors leave?RGPHNX -
