As said for a beginner a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor like dreamweaver is a good start. Google "FREE WYSIWYG Editor" and see what you can find, but also as said nothing beats coding a site from scratch so try learning HTML

Good to hear! I think fishing is a great sport as it unites people, you dont get fishing hooligans overturning buses! and it keeps kids off the street, which is always good! Thanks for those numbers too, they will come in handy =) when you buy the license you can get it online like i said and you dont need to wait for the paper to come trough the door, they give you a license number and if you write that down you can go fishing straight away while you wait for the paper, which is very handy!

So you now know what you need to start fishing from my other tutorial, once you have it all it's time to head to the lake! As i said pick up the bait on the way, maggots from the tackle shop, corn and spam from tescos and bread too if you want (you can eat it too of course!). At the lake you can ask those already fishing for their tips but some anglers are liable to lie to keep the best spots to themselves. So when you get look for the "swims" These are areas along the bank where the bushes have been cleared and sometimes paving slabs have been laid to let you sit comfortably on a chair near the water's edge. Find a swim that is the middle of three swims, that way if you cast and it goes a bit wrong you wont get in the way of anyone and wont get so embarrassed! We all make mistakes, even now after years of fishing i hit an island or a bush or forget to take the bail arm off and just slam the stuff into the lake! it happens! Ideal areas would be places with the sun and wind behind you and perhaps on corners of a lake or places that have features underwater (EG sandbars or underwater channels/islands) Or even a narrow section between the bank of the lake and an island. Once you've chosen your swim set up the chair! Then the rod, easy enough either slide the two/three parts together and line up all the rings, or eyes, of the rod then attach the reel, generally at the think end, or butt of the rod is either a screw thread with a sort of washer on it or two plastic "washers" about an inch thick, simply place the reel with the spool (the round spindle that holds the line) pointing towards the thin end of the rod and slot the back end of the metal T shape at the top into the back washer and either screw, or slide the other washer over the other end of the T bar, this holds the reel securely. Now thread the line through the eyes of the rod, the reel has a small metal bar called the bail arm that is curved and at the top of the spool, simply lift this so the bar no longer covers, or encircles the spool Like this and then pull the line from the spool all the way along the rod and through each and every eye of the rod making sure it doesnt twist around the rod or get tangled, keep pulling the line out the end of the rod untill you can pull the end of the line back down to the Butt of the road, this make sure you have plenty of line to work with, then flip the bail arm back to its original position like this now back to the end of the line. Take your float and a rubber that fits snugly over the orange tip of the float and doesnt slide around on it. Now thread the line through this small rubber hoop and then through the little eye at the very bottom of the float so it hangs like this with the free end of the line hanging loose under the float. This set-up allows you to easily slide the float up and down the line, slide the float up now to give yourself 3 or 4ft of line underneath it. If you are using a pre-weighted float now is the time to just drop this little set-up into the water, if the float stands upright (|) skip to the hook section below, if it lays flat (_) or at an angle (/) read on! Weighting a float: So now we get out those little weights we bought earlier and a pair of pliers or forceps. If you float is totally unweighted at the moment or lays flat go for a weight about half the size of a pea, grip it very LIGHTLY in your pliers/forceps so that the groove or cut is facing outwards and doesnt close (if it closes use your finger nail/scissors to re-open it again) now get the line about 2ft from the free end and lay it in the grove and squeeze the weight firmly around the line so it closes completely around it and doesnt move. Drop this little rig into the water and see how it lays. If it lays flat or at big angle eg / or \ repeat this step using the same sized weight, if it is almost straight up use a weight about half the size of the one you just used and put it about 3-4 inches below the first weight. just repeat the above steps untill it stands straight up, then you are ready for the hook! This is the trickiest part of setting up. Take your hook and hold it buy the bend of the shank (the part between the bend and the eye) in such a way that you can thread the line through the eye like you would thread a needle, so thread it through the eye and now form a loop and tuck the loose end inside the loop so it effectively coils round itself in a loop like this with the hook dangling in that top part of the loop there, now pull it tight. This is a start, but now do the same thing, but instead of putting the line through the loop once do it 3 or 4 times and pull tight, seal it tight with another two of the knots you started with. It's not the neatest knot but it does work, for a neater knot look at this website specifically the Tucked half blood knot. but for now my little un-named knot is fine, and i still use it myself because im lazy! Some people like to spit on the line to lubricate it as the friction can sometimes damage light line, i sometimes do, i sometimes dont. Once its tied on pull the hook with your fingers (dont catch yourself here) to make sure the knot doesnt slide open, once you're sure its slide trim the free end of the line leaving about 1mm left, if you trim it too short it WILL slip! Now you are ready for bait! Whoop! If using maggots take one maggot, a red one if you have them, and hook it lightly in the fat end of the maggot, there are two tiny tiny holes, these are breathing holes, try to nick the skin of the maggot between these two holes and it will wriggle nicely! If using corn take a single average sized piece of corn and hook it either in the middle of the corn or on the sealed end, so it hangs nicely on the hook. If using spam cut a small cube, about corn-sized and hook it in the middle. if using bread take a small amount about the size of a 10p coin and squeeze it firmly at one end leaving a "bush" effect at the other with un-squeezed bread, ideally the squeezed end should be about the size of a pea, hook this end of the bread leaving the bushy end hanging down, if you squeeze the whole thing it just looks like a round ball of weak flavoured bread but the bushy end attracts fish to pull at it and get caught. no matter what bait you use make sure it sits either at the bend of the hook or on the shank so the point of the hook is free to hook the fish. I recommend starting with maggots or spam as these baits attract smaller fish which are good to start with. So now the hard part, casting, i could write a whole tutorial about this alone! so take your rod, i cast with the rod on my right but hold the rod and see what side you feel comfortable with, i suspect you will like the right sided method. Now to start the cast reel in the line using the reel handle of course, to the point where you have about 5-8ft of line from the end of the rod to the hook, you will get a better feel for the length later on but make sure the line is shorter than the rod, now take your right hand (if the rod is on the right, or left if the rod is on the left) and take your index finger and hold the line against the rod so it is secure with your finger pointing toward the end of the rod but at a slight angle towards your body, now with your left hand flip the bail arm up like you did when you threaded the rod, so now if you let go with your finger the line will run freely and the float and hook (collectively known as the rig) will drop to the floor (dont let go im just saying!). So now keeping the eyes of the rod facing upwards raise the end of the rod so it goes vertical and then upside down with the rod tip behind you (check behind for people, dogs, trees etc... first) still holding the line with your finger keep going backwards untill the rod is at about a 30 degree angle or slightly lower, then fairly quickly (not not too quick, your not swatting a fly or cracking a whip!) swing the rod tip forwards again untill it reaches about 30-40 degree angle in front of you at this point let the line go with your finger eg: backwards: _ \ | / _ stop forwards: _ / | \ (let go of string here and let the rod swing down to a horizontal position) _ Now the float and rig should fly through the air and land hopefully in the water, it might not go far, it might go wonky but as long as it goes forwards! If it goes straight up in the air too much then you need to of the line a little later, if it goes down too quickly let go a little earlier till it flies at about 40 degrees. This will take practice, dont worry! Smaller kids will take longer but as an adult it will only take 10 casts or so untill you get it straight and flying well 90% of the time. when you let go of the line your finger should be pointing along the rod. Now you have it in the water you are fishing! the trick to catching fish is.. there is no trick! there are things you can do that help but nothing works 100% of the time, try throwing about 10-20 pieces of bait (maggots, corn or spam cubes) around your float every few minutes for a start and then about half of that every 5-10 minutes or so until the fish start biting, the idea here is to keep a small, steady stream of bait going in. Think of it like this, if you have 30 mars bars and threw them all into a school room at once it would be fairly orderly, each kid taking one and eating it, if you throw in two or 3 at a time the kids might well fight over them! And fishing competing mean more bites for you! So when you finally get a bit you will know about it, your float will bob, go under or even lift up unusually (eg it wasnt a wave or the wind) and that is a bite, dont do anything yet, if the float goes up and stays up or falls over it is a take (more on this in a second!) If the float moves sideways much faster than it normally drifts or if the float goes under and stays under this is also a take. So if you get a "take" you need to "strike". this is simply lifting the rod tip in the air and reeling in any slack line untill the lines is tight and you feel the fish on the end, this sets the hook in the lip and you are now hooked in! If you do this and dont feel a fish no worries, pull it in, check the bait and rebait if needed and then cast it out where you were before and wait. Playing the fish: Once you have hooked a fish you now "play" it into the bank. If it is a small fish you really just pull it out of the water, which is fine! If the fish is less than a few inches. If it's over 4 or 5 inches you might want to net the fish if you can and anything bigger than several inches should surely be netted! while playing the fish simply make sure the line is always tight and there is a slight bend in the rod, if you can just pull it in then do so, otherwise keep the line tight and apply some pressure to tire the fish out untill you can pull it in and net it. Never wear a fish down the point it can no longer swim or fight, just enough that you can net it. when netting a fish dont scoop the fish up, instead hold the net under the water and use the rod to pull the fish over the net, then raise the net upwards and net it, if you scoop around for the fish you risk accidentally unhooking and loosing it. Once you have the fish on the bank unhooking begins, either hold the fish or lay it on soft ground like grass or a towel or a special landing mat, never on rocks, stones or hard surfaces, they will flap about and could hurt themselves but on grass they will be fine. Take your forceps which of course were close to hand and hold the eye or shank of the hook with them, hopefully you can easily see which way the point is and easily pull the hook free, never force or rip the hook out, always trace the route the hook took (eg if the hook point is on the left of the lip tilt the eye end of the hook to the left and this will have the effect of pulling the hook point out of the fish). Easy! Now gently put him back and start again! if the fish is deeper hooked i find holding it upside down helps calm it down, insert the forceps carefully into its mouth, following the line, hold the eye of the hook with the forceps and very gently push it further into the fish, this should dislodge the point and you can pull it free, if not gently, VERY gently juggle the hook slightly to loosen in and determine which way the hook is face and then try to pull it free. If this doesnt work ask for help, the fish wont die yet, if it's been a minute or so put it in the water inside the net for a minute or so and get someone to help. We all need help sometimes, they might have a tool you dont have, there are many times ive struggled to free a hook and had to get help from someone else. If everything fails or there is no-one around you must cut the line as close to the hook as possible. This isnt ideal but it most likely wont kill the fish, it will dislodge the hook and spit it out on its own so dont worry! I have caught big pike that had another trace (set of two hooks) still inside it from a previous snap-off and it obviously didnt affect the fish much as it still went for my bait so was able to eat etc.. and we carefully took it out and he was fine! Sometimes the fish will accidentally get caught in the tail or fin instead of the lips, gently remove the hook and put him back in the lake, this is called foul hooking because in a match it wouldnt count! It wont harm the fish at all and will heal very quickly. Remember to take all rubbish, especially lines, weights and hooks home or bin it properly, birds can easily die in tangles of fishing line and a hook in a dogs foot isnt nice so clean up! Remember to buy a rod license for Ł25 a year from the environment agency website, without it you can be fined Ł2k for not having one! Bad times! the money goes into helping the EA to provide and maintain fishing spots all over the UK. Remember to take your wallet too as you will normally have to pay the owner to fish there for the day on a "day ticket" normally between Ł5 and Ł10 for a day. Tight lines and good luck!! Later in the month/year i will hopefully write a tutorial about pole fishing once ive learned how to do it myself!

Hi folks, with the beginning of spring its time to crack out the coarse fishing rods and land a few fish, i was supposed to be fishing today but the weather took a turn for the worse so instead let me try to convince a few of you to go fishing and take your kids too! I dont need to explain what fishing is, everyone knows that but let me clear up a few misconceptions: 1) Do you eat the fish? Or do you kill the fish? Or otherwise remove them from the lake? A) No! There is a nasty habit of some eastern Europeans to remove and eat the fish from lakes and that might be fine in their countries but not in the UK! There are a few exceptions but the general rule is you NEVER kill the fish you catch if it can be helped. The exceptions are on some trout/salmon waters you are sometimes required to remove the fish because there is a chance they could infect other fish from contact with you or your net (which may have been contaminated in another lake) Or if there is a fish cull, there are some fish, predatory fish that eat other fish, namely the Pike. In some lakes the owners/runners arent sure what to do about the pike, they can really destroy a lake by eating everything so they tell anglers to kill any pike they find, or put them in another lake/tank. This doesnt happen too often because the pike manage themselves but it can happen. If you see anyone killing a fish, either by hitting/cutting it or purposely leaving it to suffocate in the air either have a word with them, or the owners of the lake. If it happens a lot call the environment agency (search google, i dont know the number). A popular method for catching and killing these fish is to tie a line to a tree or rock, put several baited hooks on it and throw it into the lake, wait a few days and haul out 10 or 12 fish, it is cruel to the fish, ruins the lake and can easily kill other wildlife too, if you find such a line pull it out ASAP and call the owners/the EA. 2) Does it hurt the fish? or is it cruel? A) Personally i think not, and i love animals. The fish's lips are mainly cartilage like our ears, and many times i have had a hook stick into a finger and it really doesnt hurt, i wouldnt do it for fun but it isnt terrible and judging by the fact there are very few blood vessels in the lips of a fish i suspect it hurts very little or not at all. Im sure the fish doesnt enjoy being caught but it causes no damage if done correctly and the fish will almost always swim off unharmed. 3) "But it costs so much!" A) No it doesnt! Ok a rod and reel CAN be expensive but lets look in argos. They have the very basic starter kit, ?15 Includes a rod, reel floats, weights, box etcc (i will cover the tackle later) It literally is all you need for fishing. you can buy this and a few maggots or some sweetcorn and go fishing. I recommend a net, about ?10 for a decent one so for ?25 you are fishing, and its not exactly a terrible set up. the rod strength is actually stronger than many robs (the test curve is 3.5lb and i think my carp rod is 2.5lb so it really is pretty strong) The reel and line arent the best in the world but it will do. for a much better kit you could spend ?50 and have everything to go fishing that hour but have better quality stuff. Bait can be expensive if you buy it from a bait shop but Tescos is just as good and half the price! 4) You need to be taught/Its complicated A) No no no! Most kids are taught from young ages but to be honest you can easily teach yourself. You need the kits i said above and a lake with lots of smaller fish. within 3 hours you could easily be fishing as well as many others on the lake. Understanding how fish behave takes a little longer as does knot tying, but to be honest fish like weeds, cover and sandbanks/islands/underwater channels. And as for knots most of them are based on a "Granny Knot" which is where youmake a loop in a string and pass one end through the loop and pull tight! Simple! So let's go fishing! Things you will need: Before you buy anything you will first need a rod license, this year a rod license for an adult will permit you to use two rods at once and ill only cost ?25 for the entire year, it is well worth buying as without it you can be fined anything up to ?2000 and have your gear confiscated, dont run the risk! All the money (supposedly) gets put back into lakes in the form of taking care of them, stocking them etc... and for ?25 its not bad so get it! At the post office ask for a year license for coarse and no-migratory trout, it will cost ?25 if they say is ?60 they're talking about the salmon and trout license, you only need the ?25 license to fish for all fish except trout and salmon. you can get a day or week/month license but you might as well get a year worth! You can get them from the post office, or from the EA website at their website. You will also need to pay a small fee on the bank of the lake to the owner/runner of the lake, you will need to buy a day ticket which permits you to fish there for the duration of the day between the open and closing times of the lake. Typically this will cost less than ?10. A rod, i would suggest something of between 7ft (for smaller people/children) up to 9ft to begin with. Mine is a 12ft rod and i wouldnt be without it but to start with you need something you can easily control when casting (the hardest part of fishing!) If there is a "Test curve" weight in Pounds (lb) go for something above 2, 3lb is great but 2lb will easily be plenty for small fish. This rating essentially tells you the weight the rod can hold before it curves right around. 2lb might not sound much but it really is given the fact that a fish in the water weighs very little and you're unlikely to be lifting a lot of weight with the rod, and that weight is spread along the rod and line. This rod could cost anything between ?10-?30. Argos is a good place to look for all of this! you will also need a reel. For your first reel expect to pay anywhere between ?10-?20 if you want you can pay more. There isnt much difference between reels, only their ball bearings which make for a smoother ride. Try to stay away from reels that are entirely made of cheap black plastic, this arent very nice to use. Something in the ?15-?20 range is ideal for a first reel with something like ?30 being a nice reel. Now onto fishing line, this really depends what the lake is like, but i would suggest something like 7-8lb line. A lot of people might think this is a bit high but at the beginning of fishing you wont know how to "play" a fish properly and if you do catch something bigger you are likely to break the line so a heavier line will make sure you dont do that and help you get out of any snags if you accidentally hit a tree or bush! As for length they normally come in 100m or 300m "spools" 300m will be plenty and 100m should be fine too. Look on the side of the reel you bought. At the bottom of the round spool (where the line is/will go) will be some writing hopefully that says a diameter eg 0.1mm and then a length eg: 0.1mm/300m So if you buy line with a diameter of 0.1mm your reel will hold 300m of it. If all else fails buy 300m! Now the rest of the tackle. In order it will go on the line: Floats, these are the sticks with the bright orange tops that float in the water and go down when you get a bite from a fish. Expect to pay ?1 each for these but again check Argos, you can get 26 floats for ?11 so if you are serious about fishing go for these, you will need about 5 floats anyway when you get into it so 26 is a really good deal! If you're buying them individually go for self-weighted floats, these are already balanced to float well in the water, you can ask in the tackle shop which ones are which or you can tell easily because self weighted floats have a ball of lead on the bottom of them or are labelled as "self-weighted", "weighted" or "self-cocking" (cocking is that action of the float going from flat (_) to upright (|) when it is weighted correctly) As for size go for ones about 3-5 inches tall. Now you need weights. This are small balls that are called "leads" but arent actually made from lead anymore, they are generally cut almost completely half so they can be clamped closed with pliers or teeth around the line. Expect to pay about ?3-?4 for a small box of these. Get them in assorted sizes ranging from pea sized to half the size of that. as i said they come in a box and generally have between 4-8 different sizes. Also get some small rubber bands from the tackle shop. These are tiny, tiny rubber bands normally called just "rubbers" or "float rubbers" Ask the guy at the counter! They are the right size to fit snugly over the end of a float and hold the line to the float. Now the business end, hooks! There are literally hundreds of different hooks out there these days. the ones you want to look for are stainless steel, barbless (a barbed hook is where they make a small "splinter" of metal on the inside of the bend so it is very difficult for the fish to get off, and also difficult to remove and often banned on many lakes) "eyed" hooks. They also come in different sizes, aim for size 10 or 12. 10 is bigger than 12 but they should both be the right size for his fishing trip! these will normally cost about ?1.50 for about 10 hooks. make sure you get "barbless, Eyed, stainless steel hooks size 10/12" It clearly says this on the packets, if in doubt ask the guy! Also get a pair of forceps like these to get the hook out of the mouth of a fish. These are ESSENTIAL! some people use a small stick called a disgorger but forceps are much easier to use, if you can get two pairs, one straight and with a curve at the end, both should be small, about the length of your hand and with an end width no bigger than a medium sized float. You will very rarely need to insert these into the fish's mouth to remove a hook but hooks can be very fiddly when the fish is moving and you might get the hook inside the mouth of the fish in which case you will NEED forceps! Essential kit! About ?1-2 each Also a pair of scissors and if you have them pliers, scissors are again essential for cutting lines and such, you may also want to take a small knife, a swiss army knife is good or even a Stanley/crafting knife. I recommend always having this in your fishing bag, NEVER in your pocket, you know what the laws are like here in the UK so keep it in your bag or near you whilst fishing but not in your pocket. You cant be charged for carrying a knife in fishing but you could be if you forget it is in your pocket or happen to take a meat cleaver with you! Be sensible! And remember a tin opener! As i said a landing net is also fairly useful, if you catch a fish that weights more than a pound or so it is a good idea to net him to relive any strain on his mouth. A pole of 7ft or more is perfect with a net size about the size of a large melon or more is ideal. So off to the bank! Find a local fishery and before you go ask what baits work well there. In general maggots are a killer for small fish which is perfect for a start with spam and sweetcorn and sometimes bread being better for bigger fish. I dont use maggots or worms as i feel it is rather cruel to the worms/maggots but there you go. En route to the lake/river pick up a tin of corn, some maggots and a tin of spam (get everything but the maggots in Tescos, maggots can be bought in a fishing tackle shop, ask for half a pint of mixed maggots and either bring or buy a bait box to put them in, they do supply them in bags sometimes but a box is better, they are small round or square boxes with lids with small holes in the top) Optional extras include a chair to sit on, umbrella, sun cream and sun glasses and a towel to wash/dry your hands with after catching a fish and of course a camera Now to the lake! Check out my second tutorial for how to actually fish. I felt it would be too long if i did them both together! If you live in or near Rainham, Essex, UK give me a PM and i can tell you a couple places to start out. If you live in Essex UK check out http://essexfishing.com/ If you live elsewhere search the net for your county and terms like "fishing" "fishing forum" etc...

There is a fail safe way....have your legs snapped at the shin, fit into braces which hold them slightly apart while new bone grows between then stretch the new bone with very strong metal and springs (i have actually heard of this being done in china!)But seriously height is a genetic thing, there are medicines that can stunt your growth but none that can make you grow more. to avoid being stunted eat healthy food and do some sport to keep fit. And remember you dont stop growing untill you're in your 20s so you have at least 6 years to go and i bet you have a growth spurt around 16-18 anyway.Being tall isnt that great either, im 6ft4 and im 18, its handy to see over people, but its difficult to sit comfortably in cars unless i have the seat all the way back or forward, i did some driving lessons and i found it difficult to get into and out of the car because i had to force my knees under the steering wheel, flying is an absolute nightmare, i havent flown for several years but when i did it wasnt nice so i dread to think how it is now, i cant sit on the bus unless i sit at the back or on the edge and sit at an angle, i hit my head on the bus roof upstairs and some train roofs, and at school you become an easy target because you stick out!Not to mention the worst bit.... I'm the first to know its raining Seriously though, you're not short, if anything you sound a little over average so i wouldnt worry! Be happy with who and what you are!On the lighter side of things i have asthma and the medicine for that is said to possibly stunt growth so i have to go the doctors for a check every now and then, there is a short nurse about 4ft something and she insist of measuring me just to check! Im freaking 6ft4! And the scale doesnt even go high enough to measure me! Why bother?! It clearly hasnt stunted me

Malicious Microprocessor Opens New Doors For Attack
shadowx replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Security issues & Exploits
interesting, that must be a mighty fine touch those guys have, can't be an easy thing to do. However i think ordinary desktop users like us are well out of the sights of anyone capable of doing this. I think the targets really are big corporations, maybe the MOD, and banks etc... A hacker could pull a social engineering stunt to get himself in as an elite computer repair bloke, take the "hard drive" *wink wink* out for "repair" and insert a nicely modified CPU without touching the hard drive, wire himself into the backdoor and he has access to millions of bank account details, and if he was really good the entire missile reserves or a large country. Far fetched but possible given the fact this attack is virtually unstoppable at the AV/firewall level and only really preventable by physically locking the machines case shut and putting superglue in the locks.turns the whole computer into the perfect trojan horse, perfectly useful on the outside, deadly on the inside -
Evening trappers!Tis the eve before my fishing day tomorrow (can you tell i cant wait! Ive been waiting since about august to go coarse fishing again!) and as i live in the UK we are at about the end of the first third/half of spring, summer starts in earnest around June with May being late spring. I fear the fish may in face begin spawning soon, dependant on the weather so im hoping i get to the fish before the hormones do!Ive read the best water temperature for carp feeding is around 7 degrees C, tomorrow, and the last few days, the air temperature has been around 12 degrees C and i guess the average temp for the last 7 days or so has been around 9-10 so im hopeful that the water has warmed up enough to get the fish feeding better. The place im fishing has 3 lakes (its name is puddledock farm fisheries, its just off J29 of the M25 if you live in the UK) the one im most likely to fish is a mixed lake with a depth of about 5-6 feet (about 2m max) in the middle and gently sloping banks to about 1ft on the far bank and about 2-3 on the near bank. Silt bottomed and fairly empty as far as underwater features go. I know there is a lily bed that is out in the summer so im going to fish near/over that as i hope the lilies will be just growing again and attract the fish. I also intend to have the 3mph wind behind me (should be a nice SW wind by the time 1pm comes around) and fish on the island bank (the windward one as apparently fish find food there). As for baits I've got almost everything! I have pineaple pop-ups, about 10mm, probably wont use those, sweetcorn, probably maggots, bread and a few experimental baits, most of which hopefully give off oils/flavours into the water if all else fails, namely: Lemon juice as an additive, Vit C tablets as additive (i read carp are interested in Vit C in spring), chocolate spread (moulded onto bread probably) peanut butter, a gherkin (i have nothing to loose!), cut up beetroot and salt/sugar as additives. Yes I'm mad! the thing is it's fairly popular to fish and is really badly hit by those who dump a skip of ground bait in and then fish a football sized hookbait so im going to try the normal baits first (i have done very well on single/double corn over loose corn in the past with 10-20 2lb-4lb fish in the past) and if that fails go for stuff the fish have maybe never seen before and see how that goes. My main concern is the weather, i fear it may be too cold for them, im hoping though that as its April we have very showery weather (just the other day we had an hour or so of sunshine followed by 10 minutes of heavy rain and im some places hail and lightning, this cycle just repeated all day!) that the rain and sudden breezy winds have oxygenated the water as i know there isnt much in the way of aquatic plants as the water is very murky.Basically if anyone has any UK spring fishing tips do tell! Im sure i wont have time to check them in the morning but i will be able to confirm stuff that works and find out where (if) i went wrong Spring fishing isnt really my thing, generally i fish for pike all year round but focus on them in the winter and go fishing with my grandad in the summer so spring/winter arent my coarse fishing times! Also does anyone know what an OAP EA fishing licence costs? Mine (adult) was ?25 for the season, (1st april-31st march for non-UK anglers) which i think is reasonable

I was gearing myself up for a nice scientific response then!but this is equally as interesting, i dont know how many of you know but google and apple are either independently, or jointly looking into "cloud" computing (i think its called that) In which you wont have anything stored on your hard drive except perhaps an OS (But even that will be minimal and perhaps not on the hard drive) Instead all of your data will be stored on the internet in large servers ran by google similar to the way google docs works now. All you will hold in your hand will be a tiny machine with a CPU, some RAM and a hard drive big enough to hold the protocols and software needed to make an internet connection. The reason i mention this is because these new processors could pave the way for such a scheme, not to mention the possibilities for extending laptop/PDA battery life and CPU power. It will be interesting to see the battery life of laptops in the next year or so.

I use PHP editor Personal from MPSoftware, it does basically all of what the above product says but it doesnt Sync, It does however have an internal browser that you can use to check HTML with and it can also be linked up with a PHP server, EG the XAMPP PHP server to also preview PHP files while still ion the editor (similar to the way Frontpage and other WYSIWYG editors toggle between code and preview) It also keeps track of all includes and i think it also does have the project functionality, and i think keeps track of classes, its possible it lists the variables used too but im not 100% sure. It's syntax highlighted and as the above product does it also provides code hints and auto completes double quotes (so typing " automatically adds the second quote with the cursor in the middle for easy ECHO coding etc... ) And auto indents logical statements so after the first opening bracket { you will get the following lines indented for easy reading. It's also free but its only for non-commercial use (there is a commercial version with more features) but sadly it is also "discontinued" so there are no more updates for it, im not sure of the status of support but to be honest ive never had any issues with it.If you're interested google "php designer mpsoftware" that way you will get the homepage and be able to check out all the features

Ive solved a problem like the above before, where i had to turn a list of items from a DB into a list of links that go to a certain page. The way i done it was to make a loop to retrieve the data into a variable then just echo that in the format: echo "<a href=profile.php?name=$USERNAME>$Username's Profile</a><BR> Repeat the loop with the NEXT statement and presto!

Indeed there is!You have two options here, one is to use two hard drives, you can use an external drive so long as your BIOS supports botting from a USB drive (you can check this in you BIOS boot device setting, there should be an option to enable/disable USB booting) Simply buy a USB drive and install linux on it (use the linux disc and remember to select the right drive!). Every time you bootup you will be presented with a screen asking which OS to boot, windows or linux.Option two is to partition your current drive. a little more difficult. Google "Dual boot windows linux partitioning" or something similar for an in depth guide.I did this with Mandriva and the install disk has the tools to partition your current drive and install, so its not difficult but if you get this wrong you will destroy your windows installation and have to format your drive. So again google what i said and read it properly, then make your choice.(Both options are more detailed than what i have written, so please use google and read it properly before doing anything. If it goes wrong you are in trouble!)

Signs Of Victory Against The Internet Spy Phorm
shadowx replied to shadowx's topic in Online Advertising
Uhoh... I sense a loop hole...: That isnt good... Though as the article also states a significant change to T&C's means you should be able to terminate the internet service immediately but then you're left with no internet... Bad times. As much as i would love to see Phorm crash and burn and with all involved suffer unimaginable pain i wouldnt be so inclined if this was an opt in system. I wouldnt like it and nor would i sign up but i would be content to let it happen. I just fear the trouble of moving ISPs should Tiscal adopt Phorm (i hear getting the MAC code from Tiscali to painlessly transfer to another ISP is a pain in the butt despite the fact it should be easy as pie, and yes i will switch ISPs if Tiscali adopt Phorm) And there is the problem... Some, especially Phorm and ISPs, say that no personally identifiable information is collected, which i think is true. I dont think Phorm could find me, however they surely capture my IP at some stage, even if its deleted so does that still count? Also the Data Protection Act, states that information can only be collected if i know exactly what is collected and agree to it being collected and i have full rights to see it all. So.. If i say to my ISP PRIOR to Phorm being adopted that i firmly do not consent to this data being collected for or by any means, are Phorm or my ISP in contravention of the DPA? I would say yes, however their lawyers would say no. Do i know exactly what is being collected? no i have only the vaguest of ideas...but then, do i REALLY need to know? And can i really have access to this data that is collected? Well if nothing personally identifiable is collected then of course i cant, they wont know what data to show me and to show it all to me would be another contravention of the DPA, then again if nothing personal is collected i dont think the DPA applies.... Phorm really does sit on this Razor's edge, i feel though that todays news will drop their share prices so low that they will really get scared. The thing that scares me is that what the ICO has said isnt legal yet, i think its just a suggestion and a "moral law" so Phorm could still be opt-out with no legal penalties... I urge you all to contact your ISP and state you are not prepared to be invaded like this and state the DPA (google it for a more comprehensive understanding) and that you dont consert..blah..blah... Make sure you talk to a manager though... Hopefully we can find an ISP that firmly disagrees with Phorm and is reasonably priced Something that is rather ironic is this article: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ One of the UKs top 6 ISPs, TalkTalk has said it will not bow down to the music industry with its pleas to warn and then ban users who infringe copyright issues with downloading/sharing music (another diabolical idea..) Yet TalkTalk was one of the first to say it likes Phorm. However i read a little more on the BBC website and have discovered TalkTalk will only adopt Phorm with an Opt-In system. So far TalkTalk has two thumbs up, it wont spy on me for the music industry, nor will it spy on me with Phorm.. Good so far And this topic applies only in the UK, so far.. -
My Car Got Stolen. You wont believe this.

Effing Chavs.... It's always chavs that do these things. I cant stand the vile creatures!but it does teach us all a vital lesson, NEVER leave any keys near your front door. Ive heard and seen this on TV many times, all you need is a broomstick and a metal coathanger, reach through the letterbox, steal the keys and off you go. So remember to move your keys!Glad you got it all back though. -
You might be able to sell them to several companies (or make these items yourself): Pencil cases for uni/college students, beanie style hats, Stationary, Fridge magnets, maybe socks, various novelty items like mugs or small teddy bears, the web-comic sounds good too as it would be a good publicity stunt and give the bears their character. My advice is go for it! I would target college/uni students as they are more intelligent and would appreciate the bears as more than "aw look how cute it is" and might buy the bears to match their own personality. They would also make nice novelty gifts.

Fellow trappers, i bring news of victory against an unparalleled and evil enemy, the internet spy-lord known as Phorm, formerly 121Media may have been defeated by the grand-lord Information commissioners Office (ICO) Ok maybe ive been playing RPGs too long but the jist is this: Those who have been around a bit will remember my post in this very sub-forum about Phorm, Phorm used to be called 121Media who created terribly spy/adware problems for millions of users, they renamed themselves Phorm and are taking a less direct route to spying, they will be installed by your ISP (or MAY be installed) and will monitor and log all of your web surfing habbits and then serve adverts on websites that sign up. So its another spyware adware combo. Many of us have bene outraged and complained and made it into the news as Phorm clearly violates the data protection act because it was an Opt Out system and that caused more sparks that you had to say no rather than yes. Anyway the ICO has suggested that Phorm MUST be an opt in system, whether or not this is a legal requirement i do not know, however i feel that the ICO has made it clear that Phorm MUST be opt-in so your ISP will have to contact you and ask you to say yes. If this is the case i suspect ISPs wont take it up and 121Media will once again be destroyed. And even if ISPs do adopt it, how many people are going to sign up?! the only way they will do it is by wording the request in such a way that not so intelligent users will think it is a good thing. I suspect the share prices in Phorm will dive at this news And i wish the founders and all shareholders extreme poverty and suffering So if your ISP offers you " a great new service" promising "new advertising opportunities" to "enhance your surfing experience" Roll up that letter, march down to your ISP and stuff it firmly up their tailpipe! Victory is ours Trappers, for the free world! News Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7339263.stm

Hello trappersIm looking for a job and one agency has a position in "import/Export" of data, so basically importing and exporting data from a database.... Now this sounds extremely dull and low paid and dead end, but what is the truth? Is it worth going into as a first job (im 18 and havent worked before). I think the company is like a shipper and its not too far away, i do need a job but im looking for something with website creation/consultancy and being a data entry clerk sounds too dead end.. Do you think it is worth trying for? Do you think it will pay enough (i think ?12k+ pa is a fair price for my age and inexperience) and do you think there might be a chance to move up in the world? it would be great if you guys can help as im emailing the agency today and going through my grades and choices etc...

I Am Useful What does the monkey wrench mean?
shadowx replied to mrdee's topic in Web Hosting Support
Theres a new thing on T17, the post ratings module, at the bottom right of every post are some transparent icons and they represent how good/bad a post is (mouseover them to see the meanings of each) and you can click on it and it will rate that particular post as useful, funny, trash etc.... This has no real effect other than the wrench you mention. If you have say 2 ratings for a useful and one for funny, your overall rating will be "useful" and you will get a wrench icon. -
Hehe i like it but slightly evil with the loop!Another good prank is (this works better with a plain desktop BG) to take a screenie of their desktop then cut around the icons on the image and move them, then copy and place them everywhere so their desktop is covered in multiple copies of their shortcuts, then of course move the real shortcuts so they have to find them again

Evening, ive been experimenting with PHP and IMAP (IMAP is a protocol used to read email messages without downloading them to a client like using POP) and I've come across a couple of issues, one of which i posted on the forums here but have since solved. But the solution highlighted another problem... It seems my simple code can only "detect" and therefore read/display NEW emails, which is a big problem so does anyone know how to read/display already read emails? If all else fails i can of course store all emails into a DB when the user reads them and retain them in the DB untill the user deletes them but that sorta takes part of the point away of using PHP and IMAP...

Well im fairly sure there are flat-file style MYSQL databases... I cant remember the name but try google...It doesnt require a database server to run, it somehow converts the MYSQL commands (they might vary slightly from normal DB code) into file read-write commands and then uses ordinary (but encoded) files to store the data and then reads and writes to those files so it should work perfectly on your set up. Try google for "flat file database mysql" or something similar.

to be honest, i wouldnt worry too much over it, i gotta be honest most jobs nowadays, at least in the UK dont go just by your grades or education, your first job might depend on them more but jobs after that one will depend much more on your experience at your previous jobs and what your previous boss has to say about you. So for your first job it might not be exactly what you want, but on the side you could do some amateur photography and maybe try to see if you can do some freelance stuff for a local magazine, even design menus for local takeaways, or shop adverts for the paper shop down the road. Design a few website templates, see if you can sell them. All of these things then build up to be a portfolio that you can go and show to your interview and say " Look i made the wrong choice at school but as you can see from my portfolio my skills haven't suffered and i am certainly able to play a big part in your company". IMHO Experience = Gold, Education = Bronze. On my ICT college course we didnt learn anything. All i learned was a new word "relational databases" and that you should wear an antistatic wristband when taking a computer apart. So even if i got an A in that course (which i didnt ) i wouldnt have any useful skills unless i learnt them myself (which i have ) and i can prove that with my portfolio. You'll also find that if youre going into computers, including web designing but especially technical stuff they will probably test you anyway and will certainly ask to see examples of what you can do. Bottom line is education comes second to experience in this world, and teachers might say otherwise but theyre wrong, it is still important but even if you get an E in an exam but get the equivalent of an A in their little test or your portfolio is rated highly, youre better off. ^_^If youre not convinced then you can always swap courses surely? Phone the place and tell them the situation and ask to change courses or something. But still make a portfolio and do some freelance work, it will get you some cash to This reminds me, i really need to send off my CV and example codes :/

Possible Problem With Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles?
shadowx replied to haberjj01's topic in Science and Technology
There is also another problem here... How do we get Oxygen and Hydrogen? Split water with electricity...but then where do we get the electricity from? You could say from another H2O engine but that jut passes the problem down one link, at the end of the day we need electricity otherwise the hydrogen and oxygen simply become like batteries, STORING the energy from the national grid to be released later, and at the moment the vast majority of grid electricity comes from gas, coal, or oil.And the way i look at it you could actually store the excess water from the exhaust and simply re-use it by splitting it again and putting it back in the engine so that way there would be no exhaust at all, provided you could find an easy and environmentally free way to generate the electricity needed. -
Complete success! Woohoo! We live near a large country park, most of which has paved paths through it and lots of grass and such, i put the collar on the dog for a couple hours and tried taking her outside onto the balcony that leads downstairs and she didnt like that much so i gave up and took her in, when my mum got home we took her over the country park and she didnt like the 5 min car ride there but we got her onto the grass and she loved it, she was walking around sniffing and investigating, got stung by the nettles a couple of times gave her a drink and she was walking like any other dog. Then we met another dog (its a very popular place for dog walking and bike riding) it was a labrador puppy about 4-5 months old and they played together a bit, chasing each other and we met another couple of dogs and she played with them too and now were at home with a rather tired and hot puppy! The only time she played up was getting her into and out of the car, she tried hiding under it but once we picked her up and i had her on my lap she was fine Good times

Well for any website that lets a user register themselves a PHP CAPTCHA is always a good idea, or even just email verification. Email verification is a doddle, when the user first registers have an "active" field in the DB and set it to NO, send out the link to them to confirm with and that link takes them to a page with a unique ID that then updates the DB and sets their active status to YES. and when they login check the username, password, and the active field. If you're interested in a CAPTCHA there is a tutorial on T17: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/45058-a-simple-php-captcha-image-validation/ CAPTCHAS are something im lucking atm so ill have a look at that too Let us know when the website is finished, i was thinking of making a profile site too, similar to most social networking sites like myspace etc... but with a big twist, but its just an idea at the moment (and no i wont tell what my secret ingredient is )
