  1. [From a parody of the Australian current affairs show Today Tonight. Alright, so that wasn't the exact quote, but it was basically what it was trying to say.] Almost everything's good in moderation. Too much of anything can kill you. A little bit of wine is supposedly good for you - and yet, you could easily die of alcohol poisoning by drinking too much. A bit of fat is good - fat is vital to survival - but you can always develop weight problems which delivers an plethora of health risks. rvalkass really touched on the point by bringing up dihydrogen monoxide.
  2. I speak two languages - to my parents, I speak our native language, as our background is Chinese; however, I speak English to everyone else. I occasionally let slip and even speak a bit of English to my parents, although they understand me perfectly ^_^In my dreams, there's generally not a lot of speech or whatever, but when there is, it's usually whatever fits the context. If I'm surrounded by friends in real life, I'd speak English, so that's exactly what I'd do in a similar situation in a dream. Then again, I don't even dream that often in the first place.
  3. I've never really decided which one I prefer - they're both decent operating systems despite the amount of bad press they get. Windows XP seems more friendly, and I think that's probably because we're all used to it. I think there was a a webcomic that compared Windows XP to a soft sofa and Windows Vista to a metal chair with sharp spikes protruding from the seat. Speaking in terms of performance, I've never had any performance issues with Vista - this is coming from a computer with 1GB RAM - although the computer came with Vista pre-installed.One real pain is that Vista has really bad compatibility with older hardware - I had a hard time with my Wacom Graphics Tablet - although the companies are catching up, which I found out with the device I question - Wacom released drivers for Vista shortly after Vista was released.
  4. I think what you're really addicted to is communicating with people. I've read somewhere that communication is a basic human desire and well, forums are a great way to communicate.Try to replace forums as much as possible with real people - especially close people such as family and friends. There's quite a great deal that they can do for you that forums can't - and so you'll probably find that dealing with real people is more rewarding as well.Good luck, and I hope you break your addiction soon =)
  5. I've had glasses for ages - around four years now that I think about it. When I first got them I promised to only wear them when I needed to but... I seem to have gotten addicted to using them. Quite unfortunately, my vision has been getting worse. I remember getting told off by my maths teacher once for not being able to read her handwriting from the back of the room. Turned out my vision had been getting worse - although admittedly, my maths teacher at the time had rather untidy handwriting :PBut I agree with dcshaw.en - a lot of people look really good with glasses.
  6. Hi all, Would anybody here have ideas on how to grow taller? Right now, I'm 14 and around 170cm (5 feet 7 inches). I'm not exactly short, but I'd like to be around 180cm, or 5 feet 11 inches. Given that I haven't been sleeping too well for the past two years (on average 7 hours per night), do I have terribly much hope of reaching that goal? If so, what should I do right now to get there? Ideally, I should also be doing sport and excercising, but apparently doing that too much will stunt your growth. So what would be the best compromise? Thanks in advance, and sorry for asking so many questions. I have this tendency to suddenly start worrying about things.
  7. Hello, my name is Kevin. I am an unusual person for someone with such a horribly generic name [some people call me Kev], but I think you'll get used to me ^_^Thanks for letting me be a part of your community. I'm here partially for the hosting, but I like the idea of joining your wonderful discussions. I'm new to large forums and so far, they seem like a great way to communicate.Because of the privacy concerns and whatnot, I won't say much more. Just know that I exist and that I'm willing to be a part of Xisto.
