  1. If I thnk it might be interesting, or if I'm bored, I do read them all (and sometimes I read them all just because I want to). If I'm in a hurry or am feeling partially lazy, then I read a few posts and try to reply. I see that I'm not the only one who does this. Also, sometimes I do it to see if I can find something I can reply to (sometimes I have trouble replying in a forum on any site).
  2. Considering it's your first site, it's not that bad. I'm not that great at looking at a site and rating it. Most people's first site that I've seen aren't that great. It's very easy to navigate. As I said, I'm not that great at descriptions and what I think about it. Anyway, I think I'll give it 8/10.
  3. I agree with Plenoptic. Also, some people may have built up a lot of anger. Releasing anger is a good thing, because bottling it up can cause problems for some people (it sometimes does for me). Everyone has a right to vent. Even though it's been a while since I was last on here, I have made a few topics in the vent myself. Also, I like to read about people's problems, and if possible, help them (though I'm not very good at it). We all have a right to voice our opinions, however.
  4. Honestly, there aren't that many for me, anymore. Mainly, I go to Linux Online (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) for anything new related to Linux (and for Linux applications), I also go to cartoonnetwork.com, but only to see if they've brought back Hamtaro, and sometimes download.com or sourceforge.net for downloading stuff.
  5. I've only been to one place to use a public computer, and that is the library around here. Things is: I know they have Auto Complete on in Internet Explorer (I wish they'd let me use my flash drive...for Firefox), and they also fuss (and threaten to take away computer priveledges) if they see you in the Internet Options (pretty pathetic, I think). Anyway, my point is, even if you know what's on it, they probably won't let you remove it if they see you. Although I don't know this for sure. I just don't trust using a public computer. Anyway, public computers definitely will not have 100% security, possibly not even 50%. The only thing I can really say, is to be careful about the information you may send.
  6. Quite honestly, I have everything I could ever need in a host right here at Xisto. All the features are great, and I have well over the amount of space and bandwidth I'll ever need. So, basically, I already have my "fantasy" host!
  7. Well, if you are wanting menu.htm to function as a PHP script (without manually changing everything), you could add this to .htaccess: AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm That way you don't have to change everything that references it to menu.php (as that can get tiring if you have many files). Hope that helped you.
  8. Cpanel's file manager does that to me all the time, and it caused me trouble a while back when I started learning PHP. Now, I just use Notepad (or sometimes, NoteTab). Even Notepad can sometimes also add extra characters (hidden, of course) to files (this happens very rarely to me). Anyway, I'd recommend NOT using the Cpanel editor for PHP scripts like that. It would probably just be easier to make the script on some other editor, then upload via FTP. I've wondered a few times why it adds those extra lines (the Cpanel editor, that is). Anyway, I'm glad you figured it out on your own (even though it did take you a while).
  9. Well, I have Anti-Virus software and a Firewall (all which work well!), so I guess I'm pretty much safe from this. I'm also going to be switching to Linux (which I hope will be worth the trouble of downloading). Anyway, I hate how people are making these worms and all that! It's so annoying, and it (sometimes) wrecks peoples' systems. Oh well, at least there are fixes for this type of stuff.
  10. Yeah, I like Pokemon, too. I collect the cards, play the games, watch the movies and the TV show, and basically, anything I can do that involves Pokemon. However, I don't have many of the games...I have 6 of them (and there's quite a few more than that!). Also, I have many cards (probably nearly 2,000). Glad to see someone on here who likes at least one thing I do (at least...likes it a lot).
  11. Yeah, Google is great! It's the only search engine I use anymore! I usually find what I'm looking for on Google (seeing as they've indexed MANY pages). Plus, Google has many other things that make it good. Normally, when I can't find anything on Google, I never do find it (however, I have found a few things I was looking for in Yahoo that Google didn't find, but that's not very much).
  12. There are other ways of viewing the source in IE (and other browsers) than just right clicking. However, things like disabling right clicking will help prevent stealing it. Also, I do believe I saw somewhere (not so sure where it was) a way of encoding your web pages using JavaScript (beware that those without JavaScript probally will not be able to view it if you decide to use it). Even by protecting it with JavaScript, there are still other ways (I don't know of any, but there's always a way to get around things). I think I found that code on the JavaScript Source (but it is possible that I didn't), which is at: http://www.javascriptsource.com/ Hope I helped you some (sorry that I couldn't remember exactly where that was..)
  13. I have about three (possibly more) which most are broken that I either fix, or take parts from one that work to fix another. However, only two work, but one has no operating system on it. (I'm going to attempt to download Linux for the it....although that will take a while on dial-up...). I don't really know the information about the one with no operating system, and the other is basically a piece of junk (usually).
  14. That is soooo sick! I wouldn't be able to tolerate that, no way! I'd DEFINITELY punch ANYONE who did that (even though it probably wouldn't hurt them...Heh...I'm weak). Anyway, if you ask me, that's not human! Also, it could also hurt the person doing it, not just you. Yuck...I just can't see how ANYONE could do anything like that at all.
  15. While I haven't exactly LISTENED to it, it does seem pretty much...pathetic. The commercials aren't exactly good, either. I also don't see how they could make money off of them. While I'm not exactly saying I hate it, I'm just saying it doesn't seem that good. Also, you're probably right about what you said about it, brandice. Also, they'd have to edit it since it's for kids.
  16. Wow, that's fast! I'd love to use a computer that fast (or at least faster than mine)! Seems pretty impressive to me that it was overclocked (and stable) at that speed. Well, you never really know how it can be used. That could be used for may purposes (including personal use).
  17. Usually, I'm on here every day. However, I don't post every day, because I either can't find a topic to reply to, can't think of one to search for, or I just can't think of what to reply...anyway, I spend about 1-3 hours on here (on school days), and maybe a little more on the weekeneds.
  18. Mine usually jump the highest when I'm in the negative points (I've only gone down to about -4). I think that they go up quicker for everyone when you are in the negatives, but I could be wrong. Anyway, that's happened to me everytime that I go in the negatives.
  19. I've heard of CoolWebSearch....I didn't know it could do all of that, though. Also, it installs on its own, so you don't even know you have it (unless you do a spyware scan). A while back, I'd do a scan, and it would almost always be detected.
  20. While Windows CAN be secure (with the service packs, firewalls, and all that), I honestly don't consider it that secure. Windows is just used SO much that it's the main targeted OS. Linux has many people fixing it (this could be a good and a bad thing), so they may actually be able to release a bug fix faster than what Microsoft can. Also, I'm sure just about any OS will be hacked or something, it's just Windows would be more of a target. Seeing as Linux is getting popular with web servers, I wouldn't be surprised if they started getting hacked more often. However, overall, I'd say Linux is better.
  21. I don't care how bad someone's spelling and/or grammar is. Nobody's perfect! I've talked with many people that are very horrible with spelling. We're all good at something, but we don't have to be great spellers. Just as long as I can understand what you're saying, I won't mention it (even if I can't, I still won't tell you it sucks, I'll just ask for clarification).
  22. I usually have trouble posting in a forum, including Xisto. Even though it's hard for me to post, I still do it. The hosting credit system is partially what helps to keep the forum active. The hosts I've had either disappeared suddenly, didn't provide enough space (and bandwidth), or FTP quit working (and they had no web file manager, either). Xisto is great! So much space, bandwidth, and don't forget, it's ad-free! I'm so glad that I joined it! I am going to be staying here for as long as I can. I could go on and on with things I like about it, but I'm not going to.
  23. I prefer Windows, however, it's been a while since I've actually seen a Mac, but when I did see it, I hated it, don't remember why. I've also heard many bad things about Mac, so that's another reason I like Windows more. Plus, as has already been said, Windows has more applications compatible with it than most other operating systems.
  24. I just went to kyrie-eleison.org....and yes, I agree, that site is small! There was only a very small amount of text on it. Oh well, it would be that person's wasted money. Then again, it is in another language, so it could actually mean something (but I don't feel like translating iit). Still, I don't quite get the point of the small websites like that, but that's just me...
  25. Yes you can. First, you select the database that the table is in, then click on the table that you want to copy (you can go to Browse, Structure, or just about any of the others), then click on Operations toward the top. Once you click on it, under Copy Table to, select the database that you want it to be copied to, then type in the table name that the data will be copied to. Once you enter that, if you're wanting to just copy the structure (the column names) select Structure Only. If you want the structure and the data, select Structure and Data, and if you just want the data, select Data Only. If you have an auto incrementing column, you can select Add AUTO_INCREMENT value, then click Go. The data should now be copied to the database and table that you selected. I hope that helped.
