    Dentist

I don't go to the dentist anymore. When I was back in school the dentist was gonna rip out some teeth and i was going to get braces, the dentist put a general anasthetic on my gums and gave me "happy gas" also. The dentist neglected to mention to me that she would be shoving a huge needle into my gums, now I saw this huge needle after she jabbed me with it (it bleeping hurt even with the local anasthetic) and I'll never go back to a dentist for the rest of my life. I HATE YOU DENTISTS
  2. i have also seen this on DVD and can vouch that it is one of the funniest comedy shows I have seen. I won't compare it to Jim Carey because this is actually funny. definately worth a watch if you come across it
  3. my favourite music would have to be aussie hip-hop, if you want a sample of what that is like there are plenty of mixtapes available for free download, one of my favourites is the nurcha mixtape (available at http://www.mp3.com.au/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t ) have a listen.
  4. heres my opinion on this topic:upbringing does influence a persons preferences in a lot of things, it can be a small or large influence, you are slightly more likely to end up in the same profession as your parents, you are also more likely to enjoy similar things to them.i do believe that gay couples should be able to raise children, however i always think that adoption should be considered before things like artificial insemination, that goes for straight people as well, there are too many people in the world already.I do believe that society sucks though, the reason most people are against gay people is because of what society tells them, and their parents. I believe that anyone can be with anyone, who's to say that it is wrong? who's to say that we aren't meant to not be monogomous?
  5. it is a bad way to market their services but they aren't really showing anything different to what you see when you turn on the television. the majority of advertising these days doesn't actually show you what the real product is like. its sad that companies feel the need to market like this, its as bad as telemarketing, what happened to the days when you would just make your good or service better than any others and make your money that way?
  6. ebay is something i use with caution these days, there are plenty of people who make a living doing scams on there. Also sellers can be very un-reliable and thats when you need to leave them negative feedback, neutral feedback doesn't really do anything. Also shipping costs are something I hate with ebay, sometimes people with purposly inflate the postage cost so they can sell their item for $1 but still make profit from the shipping (for example one camera I came across seemed like a good deal for around $20 until you realise the postage he wanted to charge was $45) and some others don't even list the shipping costs on the auction (I've been caught out this way on a number of occasions when the cost was more than double what i was expecting and the shipping would have actually cost) the best thing to do is avoid ebay when you can and not believe their buyer protection program (i've only heard of people who've lodged things through this and had a negative experience).as far as your experience goes, ebay should have some accountability as far as correspondance goes. for example they could have it setup so you send all e-mails between buyer and seller via their website and they keep copies of it all so if a dispute comes up they have something to refer to. the follow up option on feedback doesn't seem to ever work, bad sellers just make an excuse as was in your case..
  7. yeah it does suck the way microsoft doesn't need to follow the standards because they have such a market share that everyone codes their sites to work on IE rather than the standards. Only when IE loses the majority of its share will anything change, and even then it is that not likely to happen. lets all just thank microsoft for being so evil
  8. yeah i want one of those alarm clocks that sets off a bunch of robots who wash and dress you and make you breakfast....back to reality tho.... I use the alarm on my mobile which is incredibly annoying, especially because half the time when i go to switch it off i end up snoozing it and it goes off again while i'm in the shower. grrrrrrrrr.
  9. i'm currently using intels in my desktop and laptop, not by choice, thats just what they came with. I must say tho that there will always be one in front of the other in terms of performance, the processor market is constantly changing, so there will never be one "better" processor, it does all come down to how much money you have and what you want to use it for
  10. well Zythrix, the beauty of a linux live-cd is that you don't need to know anything about linux or change anything on your hard drive to use it. you pop the cd in and it boots up a fully usable operating system, if you have broadband i'd suggest looking around at some of the live cds available, if you don't try one called "damn small linux" which is only about 50 MB (and fits on one of those mini-cds)
  11. well i dont know about the US but here in OZ cell phone companies have to put numbers into a "unusable" pool for 6 months before they can be re-assigned to anyone else.and Zythrix, is there any smaller providers you could use?
  12. So a friend of mine gives me his old laptop (an old dell latitude) that is not booting. So i do my usual geek thing: grab out the hard drive, backup the data, format and get ready to re-install windows 95 (yeah i said it was an OLD laptop). Now everything was going along, slowly but it was doing its thing. Now once the pc was ready i boot it to windows the first time, try using the trackball, nothing happens. So I look through the system properties and see the mouse is marked as not working. I try everything i can think of (installing different drivers, checking the BIOS, etc) and still no luck. I even tried going to google but didn't have any luck there either. So after days of going completely insane I happen to stumble across a secret menu hidden within the laptop (accessable by pressing something like Function + F2) which of course has an option to enable or disable the trackball (and all the power management features) now this solved my problem but brings to light the absolute stupidity of the person that designed this system, while it is nice to access these options while the computer is running, without knowing the menu is there (and with the lack of access to manuals and such due to it being a very old pc) you wouldn't have ever been able to get the trackball working. this is a menu that could have easily been added in the BIOS somewhere and saved me a bunch of hassle.anyway i'm going to stop typing about it or i'll get even more annoyed and end up blowing up dell computers
  13. most of you sound like you could have your problems fixed by getting a new numberon the topic of telemarketers, i work in a call centre (i'm not calling people anymore, people call me instead) but when i was doing outbound calling I must say that the management of the centre did not care what you said or did as long as you made the sales they wanted you to. the problem with the industry is that companies can contact large quantities of people in a short period of time and have a person to "close" the sale with you rather than just sending you the deal in writing, which you will usually forget about. also this method of marketing can be very profitable and by using things like outsourced call centres (places that make the calls for you) they can just pretend all the dodgy things aren't happening. Until large groups of people start acting (things like changing companies to one that doesn't use these marketing techniques) there will be no change, and you will keep getting those calls just when you're about to do something
  14. yeah, always remember that she chatted to you and had phone sex while she was with her current boyfriend, so if you were together why wouldn't she do the same thing to you? also as looks are important in 90% of relationships, definately ask her to send you a picture, I don't know what kind of distance it is between wisconsin and minnesota but if it is a large distance I wouldn't hold much hope for your relationship, long distance things just don't work
  15. you mention you are running xp, have you tried booting the pc using a linux live cd and see if you have problems with that, if you get similar errors you are probably looking at a hardware issue, otherwise it may just be that windows sucks
  16. geez i haven't been playing any games with bosses recently, i'd probly have last defeated ganon in zelda 1, i've just started playing zelda 2 now so i guess i'll have to defeat someone at the end of that
  17. from what i remembered in high school you inherited two sets of genes, and could pass either of these on to your children, just because you have the dominant gene that gives you A or B blood doesn't mean you don't also have the O gene.
  18. i use AVG free edition, it has regular updates and has so far prevented any infections on my pc, its also on my fiances pc, my brothers pcs and my mums pcs, and has worked wonders on those machines too. best of all is the fact that it is free. and bundled with a good firewall and some anti-spyware tools (like spybot S&D) you have a full protection package for zero dollars
  19. but alcohol is your friend.....nah I started drinking at a fairly young age (15) and still drink now (23), i've found that because I did a lot of my heavy drinking and partying at a younger age I don't feel the need to do that now. that said, i am australian and drinking sems to be part of our culture, i love having a beer after (or during) work with a few mates, or on the weekend having a bbq, some of my fondest memories involve alcohol in some way.
  20. the problems you are describing have nothing to do with myspace itself but how kids behave online, with a bit of brain power it isn't hard to find out peoples details via personal websites, chatrooms even e-mailing and msn messenger (notice most people on there have a lot of personal information in their profiles) I personally do have a myspace account, i don;t use it much tho because the service itself is not run well, i use it more to catch up on some music that a lot of underground artists around here put up on their spaces
  21. i don't have much to say on the topic of religion, the only thing i would like to put is a line from one of my favourite songs (Held Down - De La Soul) which goes:
  22. was it a lot of stairs you fell down? I must be lucky because I don't fall over very often, i come very close a lot of the time but usually manage to grab hold of something to save myself. I think i have good reflexes. maybe go a bit slower next time
  23. that sounds like your talking about running a terminal window within x, i was referring to the linux command line itself, before you load x (correct me if i'm wrong).
  24. ok, being a complete linux n00b I have a question, my brother is looking at learning some linux, problem being the guy has some vision problems. i was wondering if there is an easy way to increase the "command line" text size so it would be possible for him to read and then be able to use. also interested in some zooming software to use on the linux GUIs (you know, like the magnifier thing in doze)i'm sure to have plenty more questions and hope to find the nix heads on Xisto to be really helpful
  25. i read womens magazines to see how silly you women really are, its amazing some of the articles you read on how to mess with men and things. I don't look at the models in the magazines tho, anyone who does that is weird, there are many better places to look at pictures of women
