  1. thats what people are like my friend.i guess the thing that annoys us the most about hypocrisy is that it doesn't quite make sense to us."why wouldn't people be willing to follow through with what they believe? why do they punish people for what they've done, but aren't willing to prevent them from doing it in the first place?"its human nature. part of us as human beings LIKE to see people get punished. we get a strange kick out of knowing that justice is done (as long as it doesn't happen to us).Human beings have never been perfect (except Jesus) and never will be perfect (or at least without divine intervention). For this reason, justice, just like love, truth and peace, have all been mutilated beyond repair, and, society is left with how it is today.one day it'll all be resolved. hang in there, and don't waste your time on this earth.
  2. absolutely beautiful in the way of graphics / multimedia.only annoyance is the way that the login box on the right obstructs some of the text. maybe a [X] button on the top right corner would be nice? (sorta turning it into a closable window), or even just a login box as part of your menu on the left hand side.as for content, i've only EVER played FF8 (and loved it) but you look like you're really dedicated to this. Good on ya!Nice work so far, looking forward to seeing how it will turn out.
  3. hey.look, to put it bluntly, people will be like that. nobody's perfect, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.but these things pass, and all you can do is wait patiently, and speak from your heart (i know it sounds soppy). Don't hide what u feel from yourself or your friends, miscommunications can escalate an already bad problem.i've only heard a third of the story, but it sounds like you have a fair case.Maybe you shouldn't just tell Kayla that she deserves better, but also tell Kyle that Kayla deserves better (in the most peaceful way possible).everything will work out in the end, it always does :Pgood luck buddy.
  4. hey darkbasic is fairly good, it's closer to programming than other game creation software though. their website is darkbasic.com. You can download a demo version for free and if you pay a bit you can get a version that comes with premade meshes and textures and lots of other goodies. apart from that, if it's a completely free 3d game creation system you want, i'm working on one at the moment, so if you can wait another 5 years or so, and i'll email you when it's done nah i'm seriously working on one; progress is going slowly, but i'll post here again when i get some of it done. hope i've helped. good luck!
  5. my best guess would be to create the dialog on a seperate thread that can still communicate with the main one. i'm not exactly sure how to do this, however, it would eliminate your problem. then, when your program starts calculating, a window would pop up, maybe with a progress bar or something (they look so cool) and then when it's finished tell the dialog box to close.hope i've been of SOME help :rolleyes:good luck!
  6. hey guys i saw this thing in the paper a little while ago about new microsoft technoloqy called xna... the general idea is that through the one programming language developers will be able to write games for PC and XBOX....... who's keen? https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/game-development/ take a looksy, well worth the time cheers
  7. hmmm.... creative!!!!sorry, i'm not game enuf to compile and run it , but yep there's points for randomness and creativity!!!next year it needs to be written in such away that it looks like something by Leonardo Da Vinci
  8. i got dungeon siege and the legends of aranna expansion pack for $50. i live in australia so prices might be a little different but it is still an AWESOME game!!! and ds2 is due out sometime later this year! go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and take a look.... i am STOKED!!!! yewwww!!! also you might want to check out freelancer. it's awesome in single player, and is MMO mulitplayer, might suit your needs. It has a huge scope even by rpg standards (ie there is hundreds upon hundreds of places to go) and it's a space opera!! what more could you want from a game i can pick that up for around $40 these days (once again, i live in australia- don't say i didn't warn ya ) happy gaming!
  9. 'Love' is a strange thing. I guess the main thing that makes it so difficult to understand is that you can experience it to an extent, and think that it's everything, and then later experience it beyond what you first did and know it is everything. the cycle goes on and on! this is a guy's perspective, so i don't know how much you'll appreciate it or how much sense it'll make to you, but here goes anyway:firstly, i believe that everything happens for a reason. sometimes (lots of the time!) God works in ways that us as human beings have huge difficulties understanding. Nonetheless, you're being looked after!it may well seem dodgy that this guy has a child, but you have to keep in mind that even though he may have some dodgy origins, people change a lot during their lifetime, and he may be absolutely awesome now. one last thing: never deny your feelings. keeping things bottled up doesn't help anyone; we are people made for relationships, bottling up your feelings denies everything that is human.hope i've helped in some way (i feel like i can't really get across what i'm trying to say)!good luck, God bless ya.
  10. snlildude87 has a good idea there. in c++ this particular statement is called the 'break;' statement, it is used for pulling out of loops and switch statements (probably other statements too). However, your MFC program will, once it is in a loop like this, have a hard time accepting user input, so you will find that upon clicking on your magic stop button, nothing will happen, in fact, the program will appear to stop responding. The way to work around this is to use a statement similar to Visual Basic's DoEvents() function. pretty much this checks for any messages that the window has to process (for example, WM_SIZE, WM_PAINT) and executes them. I think in VC++ these are TranslateMessage() and DispatchMessage(), however, i am not 100% sure on their usage.Hope i've helped!cheers, SwITCh?!

firstly HoRuS, i'd like to say good on ya for giving your opinion without being offensive or getting angry. that's a pretty rare gift! difference of opinion is what makes us human! fair enough, i can see where you're coming from... here's my opinion our Creator made such complicated things like the human body, momma nature and even the stars and galaxies (as you said). I think that he would have found it relatively easy, considering he's all powerful. Also, because he loves us more than we can imagine, he sees it as all worthwhile, even if it is only for 1 life per soul. Why does he love us that much? it's past me, but no matter which way you look at it i think that a kind of love that powerful is kind of hard to question That's an interesting (and valid) way to look at it, but God's conditions of our eternal life is that we must believe in him and Jesus his son, believe that Jesus died for our sins, and also that we repent from our sins. This above mentality is not repentant; this sort of mentality will not get one into heaven.

    God

ok.hi everyone, firstly before i start i would just like to let everyone know that i have not read every post on this topic, i read the first 2 and a half pages and then my head got too full of ideas so here goes...firstly, The Bible is not full of rules and restrictions, and the rules and restrictions it does have are, when you think about it, in the best interest of the world.1 Corinthians 6:12 (from The Bible, NLT) says:You may say, "I am allowed to do anything." But I reply, "Not everything is good for you." And even though "I am allowed to do anything," I must not become a slave to anything. In John 10:10b Jesus says:I have come so that you may have life, and have it to the fullest.these passages are interesting because they show God's idea of how we should live our lives: life is there to be enjoyed. Notice though how in the first passage it says: "Not everything is good for you". God has our best interests at heart, and it is for this reason that there are rules.secondly, as to the response about God commiting suicide so he can break his own rule (sorry i can't find exactly what you said, this computer is REALLY dodgey ) that's not how it works (to be frank). You can only die once, right? well Jesus substituted himself for our punishments. No matter how much sin you have, you can only die once. Jesus took all our sin and died for it. because God is omnicient he is outside of time, meaning that Jesus' death took place for us now as well.thirdly, about Amby's friend's comment on how the church does more bad than good, but at least it has good intentions...i don't disagree. because we are all sinful, our good intentions often do turn out bad. but as we grow in Christ (man that sounds cliched) we get better and better at fixing this, and all we can do is try!well that's about all for now, if i kept going i'd be here all arvo have a good weekend everyone...oh yeah and amby? next time put it in the 'humor' section if that's what it's intended as

ha ha ha.... i was gunna put this under kids games, but it's way too complicated for that! such a good game!!! and i got it real cheap too! good puzzles, not too hard, still a bit of a challenge.... anyone else played it? what did you think?

    Dungeon Siege

more on Dungeon Seige II - does anyone know the release date? i heard it was sometime this year, but, you know, we could be waiting for up to 12 months for that :rolleyes:I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!
  15. ok, my view is because C++ is back compatible, it can do all the standard c stuff right? so in that sense, C++ can do all C can do and more! therefore, C++ seems better to me. Hey, and who wouldn't want a programming language with ++ on the end of it? it just sounds so cool!Besides the fact i find classes and inheritance and stuff really useful
  16. hi again, i finally got stuff sorted out. I was after the mfc dialog UpdateData(FALSE) method after the CListBox.AddString() method but i was putting UpdateData(FALSE) in the Dialog's OnCreate() method. because the control wasn't created yet, the listbox control could not be refreshed (i think). thanks for your help!
  17. hmmmm.... thanks but i think that is for mysql....im using mfc in visual c++ .NET, so it isn't much of a help.thanks for your time anyway.
  18. hi, im trying to add stuff to a listbox in a dialog called by my CDocument class ie. CMyDocument::DoSomeStuff()[br]{[/br]CMyDialog dlg;[br]dlg.listbox.addString("whatever");[br][/br]********[br][/br]dlg.listbox.doModal();[/br]} do i need to add something at the ******* to refresh my listbox because at the moment it is appearing downright empty. i created it by making a dialog in the resource editor of vc++ .NET 2003 and then using add class wizard, and add member wizard to make the listbox an accessable control. thanks for your time!

    Dungeon Siege

yeah, i am so into it, but the only problem i have with it is the editor is really un-user friendly. if it was anything like the warcraft III one (which rips by the way) i would be so stoked and i reckon there would be even more user created material.
  21. yeah, it looks pretty mad, but the stuff that looks like its meant to be in the middle as somehow merged with the stuff on the right. i refreshed and everything. im using ie6 + a mac if that has anything to do with it....but otherwise, yeah good stuff man!!
  22. yeah, i got a comment:woah....yeah its been ages since i've seen poetry like this, there's a certain elegance to it that i haven't seen in a while.good on ya, keep up the good work!
  23. yeah i can see where you are coming from, but God doesn't do stuff like that. We're going back to the basic principles of christianity here, 1. God Loves us, 2. God is Just. Because he is just he will punish us for our sins. Because he is loving he wants to give us another chance. He ain't just gunna smote us with a lightning bolt or anythin. I mean, justice comes eventually, look how it is with the courts and stuff and everyone has their given time and place. i hope this has helped in some way
  24. yeah, i agree. go UT!!!!!! i only have the demo for 2003 with 5 maps and im still not sick of that!
