    Dungeon Siege

    dungeon siege is madness!!!!!!!!!neverwinter nights is cool too, but i like the sheer simplicity of dungeon siege, if im in the mood for a real thinking game i play warcraft III.check the dungeon siege II site.oh, what do you guys think of the story in dungeon siege? im heaps into it but when it got to the end bit***SPOILER BELOW***when gom is saying how merik screwed upi think they leave the end a bit dodgy. i mean, what happens to merik? any comments
  3. dawo has a good point, i find that vc++ is the best thing you can use. the debugger is great (although it has stopped working on my computer ) and the syntax highlighting and completion so easy to use and flawless as far as i can tell.mind you, it took me a bit to get the money, and it really depends on how much you intend on doing, and wether you will use mfc or anything.
  4. i have gotten heaps of chain emails about such talk: one saying that i would get a free phone if i forwarded it to 20 people.as far as i am concerned, free stuff on the net is 99% of the time a scam, or really hard to get (actually i was really lucky to find free web hosting here) oh by the way, its not free but these guys have some crazy discounts on technology and mp3 players. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (aus & nz)
  5. yeah, im more into colour movies, but i reckon that there is a certain quality about black and white movies, (almost like a classic feel) and when used properly black and white can be really really effective.

    Big C++ Problem

    yeah, i actually have 256 mb of ram, just i had 128 free when i was running it. this should allow my program to have a decent chunk of memory though right?anyways i have big plans for my model editor over the next few weeks, i'll post the website when its finished. thanks for your help everyone.
  7. if you know where to look you can actually get vc++ very very cheaply. i have a friend who got visual studio .NET 2003 professional for $150 NEW! (in Australia) the reccommended retail is about $950.if your devc++ exe files are about 700 kb, you are probably leaving debugging symbols in. i can't remember how to remove them, but when you output your final product, you should turn off the debugging symbols. it will be somewhere in the linker options, or maybe the compiler options.
  8. yeah, actually its kind of ironic how that happens. i think that forcing people to pray doesn't really help anything (even though i am a christian and i think prayer is great). it's sort of like when your parents make you say sorry to people, i mean, what does that achieve if your not really sorry, or in the case of prayer, don't really mean it?
  9. yeah, that's a good point. i'm a full on 'jesus freak'too (good on ya neo_1972au!) yeah but that is true. i heard a story once. in a country where chrisitianity was not allowed, there was a church meeting, when a soldier stormed in with a machine gun and said "All you christians get out of the church or i'll shoot you!" about three quarters of the people in the church sprinted out the door. "Great, " said the guy. "I just wanted to pray with some real christians and just find out what God really was like." it's not so much about asking for stuff, its just chatting with our Lord, Friend and Creator. God made man in his own image. He enjoys a relationship with us just as much as we enjoy one with him. Prayer is just talking to God. And God talks back too, although sometimes it's hard to hear (it's not always just verbal) peace out, God Bless!

    Bar Jokes

    that was a bit over the top .........anywaya Aussie bloke walks into a bar in England, and walks up to the bartender. The bartender starts boasting about his bulldog that could rip the shreds out of any dog it came up against. The man says to him "Ok, then, ill bring in my dog tomorrow, and we'll see who wins.""What kind of dog do you have" says the bartender."Oh, its a short legged, long snouted, sharp toothed, ridge back terrier.""oh...... ok...." says the bartender, not really knowing what was going on.the next day the aussie walks into the bar again with his dog, and challenges the bartender to a fight. They put both dogs in a ring, and they fight. The Aussie's Dog literally rips the bulldog to pieces.the bartender, with a dumbfounded look on his face, asks again "Exactly what kind of dog do you have?"the Aussie replies "Oh, its a short legged, long snouted, sharp toothed, ridge back terrier, but in Australia we just call them Crocodiles."AUSSIES RULE!!
  11. friends??nah but seriously when i go places i usually have 2 or 3 friends with me.
  12. this is really interesting, i found media player 9 a better layout. i guess it all just comes down to personal preference. as far as ripping goes, i have AUDIOGRABBER!!! it's great. also dBPowerAmp is pretty good. Audiograbber has a small registration fee from memory. CHEERS!

    Girls

    a wise man once said that there are four things needed for a fulfilling relationship-->trust-->respect-->understanding-->lovei also think that it's wise to get to know a girl well before you start dating her.also, if a girl is playing hard to get, she's probably not worth your time.
  14. yeah heres some stuff i wrote about half a year ago. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ tell me what u think.
  15. wow thats brave im in year 9, hope i don't have to do anything llike that later on in life! i think ill just stick to 3d graphics, its somewhat easier
  16. hey.... bad luck bro...i know how ya feel, i've had some really bad relationships i dunno, i guess this sounds really cliched but....follow your heart. this is the wisest thing i ever heard. if you don't know what your heart wants you to do then spend some time to think about it. seriosly, it helps <_<somethin i have realised about girls over the years (im not trying to be sexist) sometimes they can really try to manipulate you. that has happened to me heaps. watch out for it bro.anyways hope i have helped a bit,good luch!
  17. hey everyone. fillipc... good stuff. that's what i did to my computer after my dad told me it helped heaps. also another thing to do is in msconfig click on the services tab and, same thing, disable all the stuff you don't need. it helps heaps, but you need to be REALLY REALLY careful. and whatever you do DONT disable the services marked essential. THIS WILL KILL YOUR COMPUTER. anyway, apart from that, this should speed up your computer a fair bit!
  18. yeah im in year 9 (in australia) that means ive been through 9 3/4 years of school.yeah bro i know how you feel i was at sport last year some time and the teacher and one of me mates were staring each other !to death! makin insults about each others parents and stuff. crazy. i think it gets really bad when teachers start to think that they are better (as people, not at teaching) then the students, and then start to act "you dare to call me a liar?"dont get me wrong, im not against teachers, we have some alright ones at my school.anyway, you find people in any environment like that.oh well. have a good ten days off
  19. yeah, i also think it comes down to a moral issue. I wouldn't be worried if someone copied my javascript or nifty HTML code but i at least think that they would leave my name on just the particular section they used (even if it was just as a comment in the code). It makes sense with executable programs, like written in basic or c++ (etc) because when programming like this you are solving a big problem by solving many small problems. i think that when programming in c or basic it is about not only the techniques you use, but how you coordinate it all too.I agree with copyrighting the design of web pages, but not the code/script.
  20. fav artist: too many, anything like creed, pod, coldplay, papa roach, linkin park....but the two best are blindspott and goo goo dolls. (can't blame ya if u never heard of them)fav song: at the moment acoustic #3 by goo goo dollsfav album: blindspott. its great!
  21. yeah i have warIII but have never played defence of the ancients. i reckon another starcraft game would be great, actually a starcraft custom game would be make-able with the warIIIx map editor and 3d studio max, but just cause it can be done doesn't mean it would easy.you would need to have lots of time on your hands.if anyone's played frozen throne and finished it...i reckon they've set it up for something. i dont think it would be world of warcraft because it is kinda untraditional and doesn't seem (i haven't investigated much) nearly so epic quest-ish.any thoughts anyone??
  22. hi, i sorta had the same problem a couple of months ago.i own the book c++ for dummies, and i found that really good, it goes through all the basics and then even some extra stuff as well.as far as free compilers go, DevC++ (http://www.bloodshed.net/ is the adress i think) is pretty good. I managed to find an academic version of Visual C++ really cheap though (because i still go to school ) and i have found that really useful, it does reasonable web design too!anyway, good luck everyone, keep up the good work

    Big C++ Problem

    thanks timstockman, i think i may have had a memory leak. i had a constructor that deleted a pointer. the problem was that the pointer didn't point to anything i had created (if that makes sense) so i fixed this and my program seemed to work fine. thanks heaps for you help everyone cheers
  24. hi, i have a problem, im not gunna post the source code cause its huge :angry:anyways i am writing a 3d model editor. i have 2 versions, materials and no materials.in my no materials version i can make as many polygons as i want, on my other one i can make three and then it crashes making a material for the fourth one. i originally thought it was a memory problem and i had too much on the heap, but then again its all pointers and stuff, so i must be running out of memory some other way, even though i have 120 mb ram free!if that made sense to anyone any ideas?greatly appreciated.
