  1. It's probably impossible to buy blank game packs for any Game Boy/DS product. You would probably need some kind of contract with Nintendo, with you being from a game company. Programming for the DS also would probably be very different. In other words, don't get your hopes up too high for making a universal DS browser.
  2. The Joomla community 9along with it's extensive list of components and other extensions) is really booming. Andwith the release of Joomla 1.5 on the horizon, things are really looking good.Mambo is not doing too well last I looked, losing developer popularity to Joomla. My say would be to begi your site with Joomla.WordPress doing very well too, coming up as one of the most popular blogging platforms around. The selection of plugins for it too is quite large.
  3. I uess the first gaming device I had was a GameBoy Color, which at the time was a great leap forward. It opened up the possibilities of color gaming so to say.... The first console I ever had was an Xbox, which was really on the cutting edge when we got it. Today it is still a marvel of technology, even with its newer big brother (namely, the Xbox 360).
  4. Some guy at Google must be really good with Photoshop, because I was really convined by the whole story on the site.I'm looking forward to seeing Google Gulps at my local 7 Eleven and Pathmark .
  5. Trap17 is the place to be. Glad you made the smart choice. As for The Gimp, I am struggling with it, but somehow managing with the little graphics work I do.
  6. At the time of this post, Scribus 1.3.3.7 is available, and the Windows version can be found at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. You could combine Scribus, The Gimp, and Inkspace to create an environment similar to Adobe CS, with publishing and graphic design all in one package.
  7. On the My Controls -> Subscriptions -> Topics page, I see the following stack of erros:
  8. The device will cost somewhere around $500-$600 when released. As one may expect, it's gonna be pretty expensive, but I have a feeling that the price will fall bout five months after it comes out.
  9. For all those interested in the mother of all PDA/phone hybrids, the iPhone is being released soley by Cingular Wireless. It would be nice if Verizon carried it though.I think many features of Apple's products are just plain innovative. I would say the auto-roatation of the screen is kinda cool, followed by the beautiful design of the interface.
  10. to turn off Automatic Updates, or change the way it behaves: 1. Log on to your system (Windows XP I am assuming) as an administrator if you aren't one. 2. Right click My Computer, and select Properties. 3. Click the Automatic Updates tab. 4. Set your preferences. 5. Click Apply and then OK. If you would like a different way to install updates (by hand though), or if Automatic Updates or the Windows Update site don't work, there is an application called Microsoft Baseline Secuity Analyzer. It performs a plethora of security work, from checking password stregnth to (most importantly in this case) scanning for missing updates, and providing links to them. You can fidn the tool at Microsoft's Web site (see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/cc184924.aspx
  11. OpaQue raised the point I was going to make. Anything in Flash won't be indexed by Google, and quite possibly any other search engine. There will be little point of even adding your site to Google, since you can only get incoming links to your home page, and your outgoing links won't be indexed since they are in Flash. On to the site itself:-Page load time (with my less than stellar DSL line) is fine-The intro animation isn't terribly exciting-None of the images are vector-based, meaning they don't look to pretty wehn stretched out (like they are on my screen).-I like the option to turn off the music
  12. In the US, it is illegal to telemarket via cell phones. And it makes sense, since calling mobile phones usually takes away from the recipinets minutes, costing them money upfront. I'm going to follow through with your steps to remove my number (assuming we didn't do so already).
  13. I didn't use the site but it looks like a piece of cake to work with. The beta v.1 statement gives you that Web 2.0 feel to it. One thing: That line makes it seems like you are supporting file-sharing networks.
  14. PC World says that the Microsoft ergonomic keyboards are very good. In general, Miccrsoft inpu devices (and the support behind them) are very good. I think the Natural? Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is a well-regerded model.
  15. I think the all-natural Tom's of Maine toothpastes are the best. They taste pretty good and don't have any chemical stuff in them. They even come in the older-style metal tubes, not that it means very much (aside from the fact that the Tom's of Maine products aren't cheap; $5.00 USD for a tube of toothpaste).I happen to dislike AquaFresh a bit. In the past, it had a bad aftertaste, and wasn't as minty as others.
  16. Ok, now running FF 2.0 from my USB drive. It seems pretty much like the old versions in most respects. There are some little interface changes that make things a little nicer to work with. Also, the new feeds features are pretty nice. Otherwise, not a ton has changed. It's still the lean and slim broswer it always was.
  17. I must say that SmartFTP is exceptionally powerful and for that it's easy to use. The unique split-pane design in the latest version makes life a whole lot easier. SmartFTP supports many common file-management features, including CHMODing on *nix servers. https://www.smartftp.com/
  18. Just remeber, like I mentioned before, that if you open an Acrobat file that requires some plugin to be loaded, Acrobat Reader will tell you that it can't open the file:
  19. I came across this tip before, but never got around to using it. I just followed the directions, and loaded Acrobat Reader. I saw the splash screen for less than a second! I'm guessing that the plugins aren't loaded unless they are needed. Great tip!Edit: Moving the plugin files does not make them load only if needed, it just makes Reader not load them at all. Useful tip if you don't use the functions of plugins, like ebooks.
  20. There are several plugins that restrict pages and posts to logged in users only (try looking at the Plugins/Restriction page on the WordPress Codex). I guess you could set up a page and make bulleted lists of download links. As far as getting anything from Box.net, I don't even know if they have an open API.
  21. If you take one look at any chart comparing the Windows Vista editions, you will quickly learn that Home Basic is too basic. Even if you don't want (or can't use) Aero Glass, there are other new programs that you might be interested in that are included in Home Premium. Home Basic should probably be reserved for first-time computer users.
  22. Now that Vista has been officially released, all new computers will ocme with it preinstalled instead of XP. According to PC World, Home Basic is so basic that it's not even worth getting. Personally, I think Home Premium is the minimum anyone should get, even if they don't have the graphics power to run Aero Glass. Business seems nice too, especially since it includes the new and updated networking features, which I think are pretty useful (so does PC World).
  23. I think I'm going to print this out. I'm kinda out of shape, and don't really perform any physical activity on a daily basis (the short jog I sometimes take after lunch doesn't really count). Although I am lookinng for upper body stregnth, I think that his is a good cardio workout.
  24. I love Opera for its features and speed. You can put just about any toolbar element or menu in any position within the browser, giving you ultimate flexibility. I find that the feed reader is crude (more like a mail client, which is also included) but effective, and the tab management features are top-notch. Although Opera is fussy about supporting some Web sites, a good majority of those out there do render properly and function normally. If I had to pick the #1 browser, it would definitely be Opera.
  25. I've used IE, Netscape 7.2, Mozilla Firefox and Opera, and I say that hands-down Opera not just transfers pages the fastest, but also renders them the fastest. that means from the time a web site's HTL gets to Opera, the browser gets to work displating the page ASAP, and does it faster than anyone else. The runners up are as follows, in order from fastest to slowest: 1. Firefox - any version 2. Netscape 7.2 3. Internet Explorer 6 (I don't have IE 7 so I can't judge it)
